Volvo iShift transmission on semi. Solenoid operated by air I think. So what could cause it to fail? The symptoms you described are identical to what I’m experiencing.

Great video. 2008 Nissan Versa. What if a car has not been used for a couple of years and when you restart it it shifts into drive but now will not shift into other gears or park? Ran perfect before parking and i always change the transmission fluid every 2 years when using it.

This was a really good informative video. Hey i was wondering if i could try using Marvel Mystery Oil in my 2001 Ford F-150 transmission to see if it would clean a sticky solenoid? I’ve always had very good luck over my years of messing with engines, for sticky lifters and such. Hell it even cleans the rings.

Question, I have a 06 kia sorento manual and when I apply gas, rpm shoots up like hitting an ice patch. Sometimes will rumble. Any advice would be most appreciated ty. Your clips have saved many of my vehicles but manual in new territory. Ty

2011 Kia Sorento, slow acceleration and seeming lack of power, in auto shift has trouble shifting but manual/sport mode will shift but still lacks acceleration. No check engine light, compression, fuel pressure all checked out, everything pointed to bad torque converter, pulled transmission and put in new torque converter, also changed wire harness because I had read that was a problem with these, did not change pump which may have been a mistake but it wasn't making any noise so left it, got it all back together and took it out, same problem, looks like I have to pull transmission again, would a bad speed sensor cause problems or bad pump, my experience in past is if pump goes bad it makes a lot of noise and this is not ? Trying to see if something might fix it without having to pull transmission again.

Mine used to shift weird / slip when it was warm. Ended up being trans temp sensor. Replaced, fixed problem till something else went bad 🙃

I feel like my 04 pontiac vibe (Toyota drive train) stays in passing gear a bit too long when on the interstate. Like is I’m going up a moderate grade at 70-75mph and it downshifts….I’ll crest to hill/grade and then it seems like it stays there for longer than it should. This would be in Cruise control mode btw….not sure if that matters.

I have a 2015 f150 that had transmission and torque converter rebuild by AAMCO. I now randomly hear a loud clunk either when quickly decelerating or when it sticks shifting a gear-for a second. No codes are popping up except engine misfire. When I took it to Firestone both could not duplicate the clunk or misfire codes. Said it just may be a bad differential. The curiousity is that this clunk did not exist before the rebuild.

I have a toyota corolla MY 2009 1.8 / transmision model U341E that has problems with 1st shift; the car runs too slow until get almost 20 miles but some times works well on mornings for about 30 minutes! The ECM report an error code P0974 ( shifth selenoid trouble ). In other hand; its oil transmision level was ok. It has a Brown color apparence bout I observe an small bouble on it. How coild ñ known is the transmision oil has contamination? The oil contaminación could cause a selenoid malfunction? As adicional comment, 1 month before l fixed the car radiator because it was stuck! I hope could you share me your suggestions about my case! Thanks
Maybe the transmission cooler failed. Also try changing transmission fluid before replacing the solenoid. Hopefully that fix the issue.

Can also be caused by bad / corroded system ground wires, bad transmission input / output sensors, also known as speed sensors or pulse generators or a bad trans temp sensor.
I have a manual 09 nissan 370z with 17k miles on it and my 5th gear is grinding and first gear sticks hard and that was after I changed my gear oil to redline MT fully synthetic.. it did nothing, what is the next step in ur opinion, rebuild trans or buy a brand new trans?

O7 Chevy uplander. Lost 2nd,3rd and drive no warning. Reverse an 1st remained. Drained fluid. Added TransX. Let run. It worked. It flushed the sensor. Fluid was clean and clear. Changed filter.

I have a question that no one can seem to answer, I have a 2015 300s awd with the 8 speed transmission it currently has 209k miles well on every start up cold start or hot start from gear 1 to 3 it goes kind of high before it shifts then gears after that are smooth but once I start to slow down from gear 6 all the way to 3 it kicks so from gear 6 to 5 it’s a light kick then from 5 to 4 it’s a heavier kick then from 4 to 3 it’s a harder kick then from gear 2-1 it’s normal
No engine light and no codes, I took it to a transmission shop and they said that nothing is wrong and that they couldn’t replicate what I was telling them so to them it seemed fine but I know there’s something wrong on the shifts the service transmission light came on once then went off
It still currently kicks they recommend a new transmission filter/pan as it’s integrated together with new trans oil and they will add a special oil to it’s running me 1400$ they said it could fix the problem or it’s couldn’t fix the problem I’m willing to pay the 1400 if it’s gonna fix it but it’s a waste of money if it’s not gonna do anything for me
My transmission doesn’t seem to slip or anything like that but when under any load (going uphill, pulling anything, etc) the truck bogs for a moment then regains power, this repeats until no load. This all started after I had my transmission cooler replaced after it failed and drained out on me. Possible solenoid issue? I’m fearing it the TC

Hi there, thanks for sharing this information. Very useful. I have yaris 2010 semi automatic and the car slipped to Neutral while I was driving. I switch it off for a minute and turn back again and it worked. Also while driving I smelt a burning rubber for couple of minutes and it disappeared and it was struggling to climb the hill. What could be the reason behind it as different mechanics are giving different opinions? Many thanks in advance.

I really enjoyed this informative video. I have an 06 GS300 AWD. When i get to 30-40 miles per hour, it doesnt shift to the next gear....it makes that loud noise that lets you know it needs to be shifted. No check engine light comes on...no leaks. Repair guy just told me to keep driving it until i get a code...still no code. Could it be the Shift Solenoid and/or Knock Sensor. Seems like people are saying this is happening with this car. Its about 83K miles. Please advise.

Hi! Thanks for this vid. 98 Regal LS 25th Anniversary. I do have a leak, but every now and then, it won't go into reverse. Does it necessarily mean replace the tranny, or can I just do a flush? I know the leak has to be taken care of. Thanks!!

Hi Top 5 Auto Repairs, Friend, I have a question and I wanted to know if you could help me and I don't know if this is the beginning of my transmission starting to be damaged in my 2009 Nissan Maxima, the problem it's starting to cause is that everything works fine and I have no problems accelerating or anything. That and when I brake everything is normal, except that before stopping completely the car seems to skid or give a push, it seems to slide due to the forward momentum, especially during an attempt to stop.

Before you replace the solenoid pllease check the filter..and replace it..line preseure and tcc will suffer more if the filter is clogs..
I have a 2006 Lincoln Mark Lt transmission went out instrument panel kept reading transmission malfunction followed by limp mode activated. Needless to say took it to the shop had the transmission rebuild pick it up 3 days later thinking alright running good till i got home. Tried to back up and no reverse. Took back to shop since i have 6 months warranty on repair work 2 days later its ready so i thought . Got on freeway 3rd gear slipping no overdrive . Took it back again same thing pick it t up day later no reverse and third gear slipping wtf any advice anyone . Fyi took it back to shop technician frustrated says I'll call you when it's ready. 5th time is the charm i hope
