    1st thing I did to my C6 is change out the radio. I went with a Android based Radio and it really opened up the Bose speaker system.

    • @Gymrat1530
      @Gymrat1530 4 роки тому +4

      That is exactly what I did with mine. Days after I got it. I was not impressed with those speakers until I put that system in. Then I was amazed with their sound.
      I did the Sony XAV-AX5000. I had the special harness installed so everything works with it including steering wheel controls and On Star buttons. I had them put a backup camera in while they were installing it.
      My only complaint with that setup is it is a glossy screen so it's real easy for glare to make it so I can't see the backup camera when the sun is at certain angles.

    We have a 2010 C-6 coupe. Our manor expense has been a new set of tires ($1200) and a solid roof to replace the clear ($350). The test has been a few oil changes and winter storage (I am not going to get this car salted by winter roads). We use the beast as a second car as well as long distance touring. It simply does everything we ask it to do and does those things well. It is a keeper.

    I have the 2008 black-on-black-on-black roadster. I love it. Bought it used in 2014 with 35K miles. Now it has 98K. It's my daily driver. Living in AZ my A/C cuts out once in awhile and engine gets hot in street traffic. But I love it.

    One thing about that visor mirror cover. You can put a woman's hair tie on the visor until the part to replace it comes in. It's fairly easy to change that lid if you have the right tools. I bought an ACE Hardware pick set for $9.00 and put my new visor mirror cover on. The part, I just ordered a set of carbon fiber ones to match my interior. The pair was a hundred dollars but you can get the original kind cheaper on eBay. Just use the pick to pry up the metal spring and slide the old one out, then pry it up to an slide the replacements in. It's actually not that difficult.

    I bought a low mileage (27k) Black on Black 2009 C6 Z51 with the 436 hp LS3 auto with paddle shift. It's fast as lightning, turns as if on rails and stops on a dime. The Z51 was easily within my budget. I have replaced the battery and tail light bulb. The LS3 has not required repairs (now has 51K). Keeping it clean and polished is the majority of the maintenance but I consider it a labor of love. I will never sell it or my black blown/injected 57 Chevy.

    Heres the thing I drove a c6 for 3 days by renting it and I was also worried about the interior but they focused on whats important the speed the engine the drive train, I could careless about the interior when you buy a corvette you get it for its performance. Now even having said that the interior actually was quite impressive. My two cars that I owned as a 2007 ford and a 2013 jetta and the interior is comprable and actually better in some cases.
    YOUR LITERALLY LAYING DOWN WHILE DRIVING its fairly comfortable and looks ok. The looks in an image make the interior look much worse then it is in person, if your worried about the interior guys, just check it out in person its not actually that bad.

    I was interested in buying a C6 but when you said you can’t put the seat back becuase it hits the back piece sucks, becuase I had moments driving on long trips and reclining the seat all the way back in a horizontal position is awesome lol. This whole time I thought you can do that with these glass hatchbacks.

    Where are you lately Drew? So glad you are still enjoying your C6. I drive mine as often as possible. I ordered my 2007 red with black stripe package and sport seats and picked her up in February ‘07. I now have 73,000 miles on her and I’ve enjoyed every moment. Yes, driving this car puts a smile on my face. I’ve owned 3 other red corvettes, 1979, 1989, 2002 and this one is the best overall for comfort, style and hp. I’ve had a couple of problems like the broken hinge on the passenger side mirror, my fuel gage doesn’t want to work and I’ll have to pay a shop to repair eventually, and something in my shifter broke. New tires every 30k miles, oil change every 5k, and a new key fob battery every couple of years. Not bad for such a great set of wheels.

    • @DrewMann
      @DrewMann  5 років тому +1

      Greetings, sounds like you've had a pretty cool career, I'll bet you save tons working on your own vehicles. $25k can buy a whole lot of Corvette these days, Shoot, I saw a an older C6 ZO6 listed for about that amount a few weeks ago. I've never owned a C5, but I did drive a few in my search for a Vett. The interiors are a bit dated and a little lower quality, which the C6s aren't really known for to begin with. Your budget will go further with a C5, but for me the C6 is the sweet spot. I still get complements on my Vett at gas stations etc, and folks are often very surprised to find out she's over 13 years old. I guess it comes down to which one you like best, if you can, try and test drive every Vett around before you choose. Best wishes!

      I had an ‘04 C5 Z06 Commemorative about 10/11 years ago. Had other cars in-between and got an ‘05 Z51 C6 manual earlier this year. Performance-wise I think they’re both extremely close but the C6 just drives/feels better in my opinion. Personally, I’d sooner have a newer base car with Z51 package than an earlier outgoing generation Z06, especially when stretching to the price of the latest Z06 is a problem.

    • @DrewMann
      @DrewMann  5 років тому +3

      Howdy, thanks for checking out the video. Off the top of my head I might have been talking about some damage to the front bumper that was caused by road debris, which ended up costing about $800 for parts and repainting. Other than that I replaced a cracked windshield for about $250 (my deductible, the cost to the insurance company was closer to $1200 ). Hopefully that answers your question, best wishes.

      Watch out for fuel tank issues! If you fill car over 1/2 full, there can be a problem because corvettes use two tanks and have a cross over to connect them. If it fails it will cause a major fuel spill or vapors that could easily result in a fire. Cost to repair $2500 to $3500 which is mostly labor! If this happens report to NHTSA.dot.gov

    • @stevedolan5065
      @stevedolan5065 Рік тому

      I have a 2008 C6…I’ve not heard of this issue, but I know most new car manuals warn against over filling. I have always filled my Vette… no fumes or spills…when the pump cut out I stop, never add more gas. I once overfilled my Explorer and did smell fumes for about ten minutes after leaving the station.

    Awsome video what usually goes wrong with these cars? I’m looking for one at the moment just want to hear more info from an owners perspective.

    • @DrewMann
      @DrewMann  5 років тому +5

      For me the issues that I have had over the past several years are:
      Water pump leak, required replacement
      TPMS sensors going out (every 5 years or so)
      The Fuel pump and sending units will eventually go out.
      Break pads will need changing from time to time. The real money pit is when you start replacing parts that dont need replacing, but just for ascetic reasons, such as replacing the headlight lenses when they start to get fogged up (from years in the sun). Also the badges will start to get foggy with age but can be replaced fairly easily. All in all they can be fun cars for sure, but maintenance will be more expensive than some other choices. If you can get a good car at a good price they can be worth the price tag. Oh another note, when you have the top off and in the trunk, sometimes it can make a lot of noise rubbing on the mounts, which can be annoying. Best of luck!

Most important remember that they are very sensitive to changes in voltage so always keep a good battery in it, I have had bad batteries throw several codes at once. Best -Joe.

      I think the suction cup stick on solution works well enough, especially if you avoid parking in the sun. It you are around 6ft tall or more, the thicker foam of the cover in the video will reduce your head room by about an inch or so, which isn't a big deal, but it can mess up your hair just a bit if you have it nicely brushed haha.

      @@TheStaceyChannel If they were able to get it swapped for you thats awesome! I tried to replace the lids but was not able to figure it out, and ended up just replacing the whole assembly. I try and avoid dealerships at all cost, the only thing I've ever purchased form one (a proper brand name dealership that is, i.e. Ford, Chevy, etc) is power steering fluid.

    Great video! We have a similar car. It is a 2007 black Vette with 30K miles. Absolutely love and pamper the car. Only real disappointment is the fuel pump issue. It is dangerous and should be a RECALL, but instead GM got cheap and made it an extended warranty that expired 2017. I never filled my full tank, but once added enough to go over 1.2 tank. That resulted in fuel smell inside and outside the automobile. If left unattended in a garage at overnight and there was the slightest spark you could blow up your house! It is reported to the NHTSA. Everyone having this problem should at least file a report: www.nhtsa.dot.gov
