Holy-smokes. That was actually a lot of good information on the whole. I got two questions for you: does the AC have a mode just to vent outside air with no cooling or heating, just air? Also, when the heck did Corvettes change from SAE to Metric? I can use either, but it feels very "foreign" to be working on American metal with tools I normally use with my Japanese & Euro vehicles.
You could manually turn on the fan, turn the temp down, then turn AC and recirc off for just circulating outside fresh air I suppose. As far as when they switched.. I’d put my penny bet that it was the C5 if I had to guess. Thanks for watching.. did you see part one? It has a ton of stuff too.
Hello from Germany, a very nice video, thx. I have a question: Do base wheels fit on a gs? I can´t find winter tires for my gs wheels . Thx in advance! Tom.
They will fit but will be extremely inset from the fender. You might also look for c5 z06 wheels as well. They should also fit, and being 18” may open up tire options. Thanks for watching!
There is no way for me to diagnose your HUD from here. However, I do know they are prone to failure as the mirror can become dislodged. That then makes the projection not hit the windshield. Yes, my car has OEM wheels from a 2005-2007.
I don’t know for sure, as I’ve never done the anti venom on mine. I cannot imagine they’d be different.. If I had to throw out a guess. If you find out, please let us all know.
The most common thing to try is Techron fuel additive. Evidently, the sender can get buildup on it from sitting too long immersed in fuel. Put a double dose in on a full tank, then a single dose for a tank or two after if needed. If it hasn’t freed up by then, you’ll need to drop the tanks. Btw, if you don’t drive the car much or if it is stored for long periods, leave it stored with 1/4 tank or less. The level sender isn’t submerged at that point and buildup rarely occurs. The fuels system is pretty much a sealed system so drawing moisture while stored on low fuel levels isn’t really a thing anymore.
Good call on the date codes. I bought a 02 4th gen f body it had 11 year old tires that looked new. Then the blow out and tow truck yeah people look at your tires.
Having a problem with my driver side door, it will not open unless i use the pull latch, but the passenger side does open, what is the problem with my 2009 Corvette Base?
You are likely experiencing either the exterior door pad needing cleaned (or replaced) or the latch itself has failed. The door pads are simple to remove, disassemble and clean with some cotton swabs and alcohol (or electronic parts cleaner). If the door won’t open from the inside button, it’s most likely the latch itself. I replaced the driver’s latch on mine. It was @$200 in parts and took me 30-45 min to swap out.
If your key won't unlock the hatch to get to the manual door release you are relegated to one of 2 things. 1. call a locksmith to unlock the hatch. 2. see if you can gain access to the starter connections from underneath and connect a jumper box to power the vehicle. Option 2 is a total pain since you'll need to be able to jack the car up and get your connections onto the starter wire. With OEM cats this can be VERY difficult. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
Without hearing it, or knowing anything about your car a “ticking noise” could be many things. I assume you mean it’s an engine tick, which could be as simple as a loose rocker or a lifter starting to wear out. No matter what, if you don’t know what it is, take it to a reputable shop in your area and pay for a diagnosis. LS engines are know for their valve train being pretty noisy though, so it could just be that. Hopefully it’s nothing major. Thanks for watching!
@@insxnity9788 I’d pull the valve cover and check the rockers first. If nothing is wrong there, then it may be a lifter. Also, make sure it’s not just a leaky exhaust manifold gasket. Again, not hearing it in person makes it difficult to say what it is.
Not sure if I’m undertaking your question, but I will say that the C6 starter is known to develop a loose connection at the starter itself. It will cause weird charging issues and eventually fail to start. The starter solenoid to battery connection deteriorates from the high heat from the exhaust that is very nearby.

I think that if I were looking to buy a z06, and I couldn’t get 100% vefirfication that they had been checked by a reputable mechanic or replaced with appropriate parts I would budget for that to be done. Personally, if I were buying a z06, I’d already be planning on pulling it apart for H/C/I and the heads would be addressed or verified at that point. I do think tat the problem has been blown a bit out of proportion, but at the same time if they fail it’s an expensive repair. I tend to err on the side of caution.
Oh, goodness no! I don’t want to have to work that hard for a living! In the past I specialized in Honda/Acura vehicles, but would work on just about anything else too. I’ve fixed ATVs, lawn mowers, tractors, diesel trucks, generators, trailers, etc.. and I found out it’s hard on the body. Now I just take on the jobs that I WANT to do or that I think might make a good video. Thanks for watching!
Cannot give any advice for racing on the streets… I’d never do a thing like that. However, at the drag strip a manual will be much harder to launch and be consistent with. An automatic will dominate in consistency there. Roll racing, autocross, or road course seem to be dominated by manuals. Personally, I like driving a manual. There’s just something about ripping through the gears (within the speed limits, of course) after a long day that melts the stress off.
@@Mr_SynergyPerformance how many times do you think clutch would take a beating when im learning? lol because ive heard clutches for corvettes are expensive
@@TWIZZY_RlCH depends on how bad of a beating you put on it each time and what shape it’s in when you start. They are fairly robust, but not indestructible. Thanks for watching!
I agree. My C7 is a standard but I have no issues with anyone who prefers an automatic. Standards can be a pain if you're often in bumper to bumper traffic as you may be if yours is a daily driver.
As a electrician what he said about fuses is not always true. I have seen a fuse for a machine that would get hot an open up, after about 5 minutes it would work again till it got hot. So he says that they don't fix themselves, well sometimes they do.
I thought I'd answer your question at the 10:45 mark about why anyone would buy a automatic Corvette. I'm 57 and I've been driving manuals since I was 16 in my first car, a 67' GTO. The reason I drive a automatic Corvette is because I'm now disabled. I had major surgery two years ago and when I woke up from a coma a month later I had neuropathy (nerve damage) in both of my feet and what's referred to a drop foot in my left clutch foot. I was driving a Porsche at the time and started to hit things because I couldn't get the clutch in on time as my foot was unpredictable. So rather than kill someone and possibly myself, I sold off the Porsche and purchased a Automatic Corvette. I haven't hit anything since. That is why.
@@Mr_SynergyPerformance It's cool 😎. I didn't mean to get too pissy about it. I just hear that a lot and feel pressured to turn in my Man Card and buy some pink panties by some. @@fuzfoz no worries. I took no offense. Sarcasm doesn’t always come through on camera, so it’s understandable. I usually have to give a good ribbing to all my automatic driving buddies as well.. they usually give it back to me by showing me their time slips! Lol.

Yup! My favorite is asking people asking for “build recipes” but don’t mention anything about the vehicle they’re missing, intended usage, budgets, or anything like that. I can’t give someone any insights on what parts to use if I don’t know what car they have or what type of driving they intend to do. Drift, drag, road course, autocross, roll racing, dyno queen, etc.. all have different approaches. Some will overlap, sure, but not always. But yes, every group pertaining to motorized things seem to be plagued with the same recurring questions… it is what it is, I suppose. Thanks for watching!

108 Honda/Acura vehicles in my ownership history actually. Before my Vette I was pretty heavy into Import stuff, but mainly Honda. Some of my friends were mind blown when I showed up with the C6 for the first time. I’d kept it a bit of a secret while the engine was being built. First of all, that was just a funny haha joke to get people riled up. Secondly, I think you mean they’re more consistently able to accelerate without incurring driver error or variation. Because, FASTER would imply that the auto alone makes the car capable of a higher top speed, and that’s just not the case. Are they quicker? Sometimes, but for some of us, the drag strip/bakery/stoplight challenge is not the only metric we measure the fun factor by. Thanks for watching. 😁
Sorry to offend. My rant was probably a bit harsh for some. Point being that asking random groups of people “what is the BEST ____” is only going to get you a listing of whatever those individuals bought for themselves. IMO a more appropriate question would be,”what would be recommended in X scenario.” People would get much better info that way. Asking a group about sale values, with no context of location is just as likely to get useless info. Thanks for watching and for the feedback.
Faster would be a function of power and final effective gearing vs aerodynamic drag. Transmission style really didn’t determine which car would be FASTER. But in a drag race auto is typically QUICKER and simpler to be consistent.. which is why they dominate the strip. Thanks for watching!
Not mad, just surprised at the number of folks that think they’re the first person to ask some of these questions. The information is out there, and literally typing that question into Google will bring more results than a person would usually care to read through. Thanks for watching!

@@avflyguy they did, it was a one year only stupidity move… I wonder how many people heard that in the meeting and just said “OK” without really realizing the trouble it would cause.😖
electrician here ....he said check the fuses ....sounds to me you took it wrong way....a fuse doesn't have to be blown for it not to work ...could be loose ...could got hot melted connection it goes on and on ....sometimes it is as simple as a loose fuse ...but I wouldn't say don't look there ....
@@Mr_SynergyPerformance Good idea. Thank you.
my heads up display wont work, why? also are those stock rims on ur vettee?
There is no way for me to diagnose your HUD from here. However, I do know they are prone to failure as the mirror can become dislodged. That then makes the projection not hit the windshield. Yes, my car has OEM wheels from a 2005-2007.
I have a c6 08 tr6060 and i want to put the mgw shifter I had on my 07 t56 w the Antivenom mod (1 washer ) is it the same for the tr6060
I don’t know for sure, as I’ve never done the anti venom on mine. I cannot imagine they’d be different.. If I had to throw out a guess. If you find out, please let us all know.
My gas gauge is stuck. It’s a 2008 c6. Is there any options beside taking the tanks off?

Good one.
What if key fab doesn’t work in under license plate with a dead battery and doors are locked
Nice car sir..dreaming that 1

I have a ticking noise on my c6 but it has no check engine light either does it pop a code on a scanner , what could it be?
Without hearing it, or knowing anything about your car a “ticking noise” could be many things. I assume you mean it’s an engine tick, which could be as simple as a loose rocker or a lifter starting to wear out. No matter what, if you don’t know what it is, take it to a reputable shop in your area and pay for a diagnosis. LS engines are know for their valve train being pretty noisy though, so it could just be that. Hopefully it’s nothing major. Thanks for watching!
@@Mr_SynergyPerformance yes it’s a engine tick that comes from the passenger side of the engine
@@insxnity9788 I’d pull the valve cover and check the rockers first. If nothing is wrong there, then it may be a lifter. Also, make sure it’s not just a leaky exhaust manifold gasket. Again, not hearing it in person makes it difficult to say what it is.
@@Mr_SynergyPerformance got it looked at and fixed and it a broken push rod
@@insxnity9788 wow! That’s not very common. Pretty easy fix though.

where did you get your shift knob?
It’s from MGW.
Can a loose cable wires ruin my starter on 2005 Corvette due to poor connection and low interrupted voltage?
Not sure if I’m undertaking your question, but I will say that the C6 starter is known to develop a loose connection at the starter itself. It will cause weird charging issues and eventually fail to start. The starter solenoid to battery connection deteriorates from the high heat from the exhaust that is very nearby.
@@Mr_SynergyPerformance Gina again thank u but the other mechanic said I just need to buy a new battery and some wires that connect the battery someone out lose copper on the battery where u put the chargers red and black how wierd was that that they did that I hoping that's all is the battery and terminals top post well see Thursday I'll get back to u soon if I need u again thank u so much for ur reply .
@@God.M856 I see. So they are saying the battery terminals are loose. That is not good, but I doubt you’d see any damage to the starter from it. Good luck to ya, and thanks for watching.
What are your thoughts on the ZO6 valve guide issue?
I think that if I were looking to buy a z06, and I couldn’t get 100% vefirfication that they had been checked by a reputable mechanic or replaced with appropriate parts I would budget for that to be done. Personally, if I were buying a z06, I’d already be planning on pulling it apart for H/C/I and the heads would be addressed or verified at that point. I do think tat the problem has been blown a bit out of proportion, but at the same time if they fail it’s an expensive repair. I tend to err on the side of caution.
C6 shift problem. Thanks!

It’s from MGW. I believe they call it the “Race” knob. Very nice feel and grip to go along with their shifter.

You should open a Corvette specialty shop!
Oh, goodness no! I don’t want to have to work that hard for a living! In the past I specialized in Honda/Acura vehicles, but would work on just about anything else too. Coming from a guy that doesn’t know manual. Is a automatic better for street racing ? Or should i get a manual ?
Cannot give any advice for racing on the streets… I’d never do a thing like that. However, at the drag strip a manual will be much harder to launch and be consistent with. An automatic will dominate in consistency there. Roll racing, autocross, or road course seem to be dominated by manuals. Personally, I like driving a manual. There’s just something about ripping through the gears (within the speed limits, of course) after a long day that melts the stress off.
Will it be hard learning manual on the c6 for the first time ?
@@eduardoortiz4661 IMO, no. Lightweight car with gobs of torque should be pretty easy to learn in.

Why hate on automatics? Yes manuals are fun, but lets be real, a modern day paddle shift automatic will spank a manual any day of the week.
Yup, or to also let other people be able to drive the automatic. Sometimes manual is not the solution for some!
I agree.
My C7 is a standard but I have no issues with anyone who prefers an automatic.
Standards can be a pain if you're often in bumper to bumper traffic as you may be if yours is a daily driver.
@colehara yes mine is my "every other day" driver! But use sport mode often and whenever there is plenty of road!
It was just good ole car guy gigging.. don't take it to heart. Autos have their place too.
Because youre not buying this car to go as fast as possible, youre buying it for the engagement.
Thanks for the info. That comment was made in jest.. not literal. Someday, I’ll likely wind up in an auto as well. Thanks for watching!
@@Mr_SynergyPerformance It's cool 😎. I didn't mean to get too pissy about it. I just hear that a lot and feel pressured to turn in my Man Card and buy some pink panties by some. It's just circumstances that's all. I do miss tearing up the road in a manual. I even used to have a three on the tree in my old Ford PU. I appreciate you and the content. I just came across your channel and this is the first video I've seen of yours. I have a 91' C4 at the moment but am getting ready to upgrade to a 2008 C6 or up with a 6.2. possibly a convertible since I will not be using it for the track or any insane driving manuvers. I'll subscribe to your channel and like. Thanks!
@@fuzfoz no worries. I took no offense. Sarcasm doesn’t always come through on camera, so it’s understandable. I usually have to give a good ribbing to all my automatic driving buddies as well.. they usually give it back to me by showing me their time slips! Lol.

Every group that I am in that has something to do with cars or motorcycles the question comes up. What type of oil should I use 😂😂😂
Funny when you called it an old style fuse. Old style is a glass barrel fuse. ;-D

Awesome mate. Answers to dumbass questions they should know how/what to do. You own a Vette.. I'm sure you tinkered with a Civic at some point in your life before your Vette. Well done!!
108 Honda/Acura vehicles in my ownership history actually. Before my Vette I was pretty heavy into Import stuff, but mainly Honda. Some of my friends were mind blown when I showed up with the C6 for the first time. I’d kept it a bit of a secret while the engine was being built. So one day, the “Honda guy” shows up to a cruise with a 416ci C6. Most didn’t believe it was really mine for a while. Thanks for watching. Btw, I’m working on a video that compiles the progression of mods from when I bought the C6 up to now.
The reason you buy a Corvette with an automatic transmission is that they are faster than a stick.
@@Mr_SynergyPerformance I can dig it !!
Thanks, you convinced me to not buy a C6.

Negative gripes throughout. Not everyone is as brilliant as yo pal. Try making it humourous next time.
@@Mr_SynergyPerformance I agree. Most of those people don’t know themselves.
why auto vette because its faster period lol
Faster would be a function of power and final effective gearing vs aerodynamic drag. Transmission style really didn’t determine which car would be FASTER. But in a drag race auto is typically QUICKER and simpler to be consistent.. which is why they dominate the strip. Thanks for watching!
If you don’t know what oil to put in your car, you shouldn’t have a car, a girl or a car
