you prolly dont give a shit but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my gf these days =)
NO lie. Just last night I was telling my wife I wanted to put yellow inserts where my saggy map pockets were! 86 had the map pocket too and mine is sagging like a mug.I I too will upload my video for all to see. Your ideas really help give me a new angle of attack. Great video once again.
Will do and If you ain't too tied up, I'll show you at Mustang week or (hopefully foxtoberfest). I am hoping it will give it the Saleen Sa-10 look HAHA! P.S. if you want to see a descent electric fan upgrade check out my latest upload!
great job only thing i would have sanded the crap off the insert so the what ever material you use has a flat even surface to adhere too also the spray glue you hit both surface's and let it set up for 5-10 mins depending i use super 77 but it turned out pretty decent one more thing i heard baking soda and water work pretty good at removing gunk from panels
100% true bud, heat gun, a roller, or something heavy sitting on it would work great to get a more flat finish. You can also put some thin foam on the board to make it look a little nicer
A little hint. When I did this back in the 90s I used two pieces of 1.5 pvc cut a little longer than the width to keep the metal tabs from bending over while putting carpet or vinyl on mine.
I did this, thank you for the video. It saved me ALOT on Restoring my 83 foxbody 5.0. Did the door panels. Did the floors too! All by going to the fabric store. 😁
Little tip for vinyl and fabrics. Don’t pull them tight like that. They will eventually pop free from the adhesive which will cause future bubbling. Lay the material down on top of the panel. Then massage, from the center out,all of the bubbles and wrinkles. Forcing the backer board down onto the fabric and bending it is drawing the vinyl taught.
I did this before and I learn that the vinyl with the cloth/fabric behind always gives the bumpy look once you pull it a little after gluing it , I do it now with vinyl without the fabric behind it and it works perfect and looks 100% smooth ... Try it next time , trust me it will look 100% 👍👍
Thank you for the video. Quick DA question. Where does the body clip fit that connect the top screw of the arm rest go? Is it behind the panel itself or the metal door structure behind it? Thank you in advance!
Most times the existing vinyl is fine. Remove the map pockets and just clean the vinyl that’s there. Might need a few staples to reattach but you’re good to go. That’s what what I’ve done on multiple door panels. No need for recovering and non matching vinyl. 😎
Was ready to follow this and then he said that the fox door panel on the table was very rough lol. I would consider that panel perfect for my needs. You want to see a rough door panel I got you I looked at replacing them but they are crazy high. People want $$$ amounts for them. I’m going to have to go with sheet metal door panels with power window buttons from billet switches or whatever they are called. This is my 18th Foxbody so I’m not new to them at all. Unfortunately people now collect them which has made it so people who actually enjoy them can’t afford them since boomers got ahold of something that’s going to make them one day sadly.
That WAS a rough looking door panel. Cool. I got a tough tech question on the FOX BODY cruise control amplifier. I have a 1986 Mercury Capri with cruise control and I cant find a matching part number in a used or reconditioned part and I can not find a company that will rebuild it. The part numbers are close but.? Any ideas? part number: 6Z E6AF 9D844 6078 A/B
My 88 GT came with vinyl inserts up top and carpet on the bottom. The panels are bent from the bottom edge due to water and want to get another set of used ones but can't seem to find any in my combo. Any1 know why? Seems like all panels are either fabric/carpet or with vinyl/map pockets
Thin layer of foam makes all the difference when doing panels. It takes out all the bumps and softens the edges. They also sell it at the fabric store.
MY 87 ,I JUST FINISHED MY DOOR PANELS, THEY CAME OUT AWSOME. CANT GET ENOUGH OF VIDEOS OF INTERIOR RETORATION! THANKS BUDDY!😎😎
Hell yeah! Save the foxes!

True that brother, get in and fix em up!
Excellent job. Jo Ann’s is great. $35 did my headliner grey suede material and glue. Had a good time doing it too.
Hell yeah, great minds think alike!
this looks good man i have an 86 that doesn't have speaker slots in the panels im thinking of switching them to 87 to 93 and doing this

Looks great! Handy trick with the map pocket delete! My wife swears by Magic Erasers lol.
A little hint. When I did this back in the 90s I used two pieces of 1.5 pvc cut a little longer than the width to keep the metal tabs from bending over while putting carpet or vinyl on mine.
Thats a damn good idea, its a pain getting them all lined up
I did this, thank you for the video. It saved me ALOT on Restoring my 83 foxbody 5.0.
Did the door panels. Did the floors too! All by going to the fabric store. 😁
Finally something that I can afford 😎

Gotta black out the speaker grill to finish it. I luv joanna. I get my headliner material there.
Yes sir! Grab some SEM and let er eat!

Ricky Barton I got several on the way brother!

I've got an 89, but my door carpet has some cigarette burns, so this might be a pretty good mod for me to try.
Called it before you dropped it. Used those for years multi purpose is under statement. Hell even the no name ones aren’t bad either 👍👍👍
Ys sir, the cheap ones work great too, I found out by accident how good they work when I didn't have any clean rags left lol
Will do this definitely.
great little quick and cheap DIY with big results!
100%, those are the most satisfying mods!
Magic eraser... whoda thunk it
Great video! Need to clean up the daily like this!

Some of these fabric stores also have headliner material really cheap!
