Oh I'm so glad to hear they added the option for a beep, like EUCs have, for newer folks who might not know what pushback feels like, it was such a safety concern not having that beep.
Definitely! It's necessary for new riders, but unlike EUCs that typically evaluate the capacity to keep you level, it seems to activate at 19.5 MPH and it will stay beeping until you get under that speed threshold. Thanks for watching and writing a comment!
Some day this year, I'd like to come to DC and bring the 20s Onewheel build I'm working on. It makes a GT feel like an XR. Nicely done video. Cheers Mr. Don. 🙏

Awesome video Don. Ive had my XR for only 3 months and Ive done 150 miles on it. But Im more and more considering upgrading to a GT. I said I would wait a year before upgrading but not sure I can wait that long. 😂
I’ve tried all of the available Future Motion boards and I’ve owned the Pint, XR, GT, and GT S. Next to the GT S, the GT feels a little underpowered, but if you don’t experience both, the GT feels like plenty of board and is unmatched for range. I worried about range with my GT S, but for 98% of my rides, the 12 miles or so that I can count on are enough. It just feels wrong to have range that low for such an expensive board. I do enjoy going fast. The GT feels much more powerful than the XR, and the GT S is an even bigger step up. It’s clearly more powerful than the GT, and the stock tire and footpad experience is better.
Let me know when we can swap a battery - until then - they are insane requiring you ship your device back to the USA just to swap a battery. #righttorepair
Most would swap batteries on the +XR for more range and better batteries. The GT doesn’t have that need. I’m also team #righttorepair and I don’t think unplugging your battery should brick your board. But for people who want an enjoyable board to ride, the stock GT offers a very good experience. The battery will eventually need service, but by then I hope to have enjoyed the board for a solid two years or so.
Been considering buying a one wheel for a while now and wasn’t 100% sure it was worth 2500$+ but after watching this I’m pretty sure once I get off work imma do it!!!
They are a ton of fun, and for someone who lives in the city like me, surprisingly practical. I’ll make a video on this topic soon. Congratulations on your future board!

I agree. I was reluctant to recommend the GT before the update due to the safety concerns, even though I’ve enjoyed my board, problem-free, since day one. I’m glad you love your GT too!
Nice video. Those tricks are sick. Makes me want a OW, just can't do it living in the UK. Can't afford to send the board back to FM who knows how many times. If they just allowed you to repair and mod I could get on board.
It’s a tough choice for people who live abroad for sure. To be fair, people mod their boards, but they can’t get warranty service or parts from Future Motion. Are you building the list relative to other boards, or is it an independent list of things you like and don’t like? I’d recommend you make the list relative to your personal experience with the board and the life context it fits within. For example, a city rider will have a different reaction to someone who enjoys it on trails.

With the weather warming up, I'm enjoying the GT even more! It's definitely a difference maker for me (trending toward 240 lbs or more if I'm carrying gear). Thank you so much, Finn Dougherty! I’m working to be more consistent. That will make a big difference for the channel’s growth. I appreciate the kind compliment!
I’ve lost some weight. Still plan to lose more this year but I think it’s finally time to order my GT. Especially since shipping is down to 2-4 weeks and if you bundle it comes with a charger plug.
I'm excited for YOU to get a board more than anyone else, Dale. But when you do, take it slow and try to learn as safely as possible. You'll have a lot of power under your feet! The GT is definitely among the safest boards to learn on, all things considered. There is a lot of top-end power to limit the risk of nosedives.
Very helpful info. With all the negativity surrounding the GT I decided to leave it sitting in its unopened box. I’ve stuck with my XR. I might have to break the seal on it this weekend.
If you have any early issues, Future Motion seems to be quick to own up to them and make you whole. I think you’ll really enjoy the GT. I’m curious to hear how you feel about the GT as compared to your XR. Write back and let me know! Thanks for watching!
@@followdon thanks, Don. I'll keep you posted. I'm a "senior" (mid-60s) rider so am pretty cautious. Love to float, but don't want to break anything anatomical! 🙂 I'll let you know how it goes.
DC is one of the best cities to ride Onewheel in my opinion. It shrinks the city and opens up your options. And it’s super fun to ride! It’s awesome that the monuments are Onewheel friendly. Let me know if you get one!
I may have seen that video. 30 mph is another level of speed. You'll know well in advance that you're in risky territory before a nosedive occurs. My current GT top speed (while not trying to test the upper limits of the board) is 23.1 mph.
Thanks for the video. I’m very close to order for my first ever Onewheel and I’m going for the GT. I noticed your fender has a glossy finish, is that from Onewheel?
Nice video... Look, you mentioned that you are a 230lb dude, exactly what I am at too... Can I ask you in what PSi are riding with? Thank you for the video.
@@followdon Thank you so much for the reply... Yeah, same thing here, sometimes I'm over 240lb too... But I try to keep my PSI at 22, over than that I think it gets too hard.
In what context? I would say on the whole that the GT has a better, more thoughtful build than the XR. You’ll find accessories are easier to remove and attach. Screws are easier to match. The battery casing is more premium as well. I don’t think you’ll have any issues with wire crimping.
You don't worry about the motor cutting out and nose-diving you into the emergency room? _(just started riding my pre-owned XR+ and it scares the shit out of me at 70ish years old )_
I have a fairly healthy fear of board malfunctions and over taxing the board. As a heavier rider, I had to be much more cautious on the XR. The GT and the GT-S give me more confidence and nosedives are far less common. But cutouts are a scary possibility on any self-balancing device.
I’m asking @OneWheelWing to describe his GT plans in his own words, but I assure you, he loves riding Onewheels of all kinds. If Future Motion sent him one, I bet it would become his primary board.
@@followdon I’m surprised that FM doesn’t send him one for free. He is probably the best Onewheel ambassador that has ever lived! He has earned one! Period!
My Pint was my first Onewheel and I rode it daily as my primary commuting device. There is a lot there to enjoy and grow into. 2+ years later, my daily board is a GT. There is no shame in upgrading over time. Congratulations on your Pint purchase!
@@followdon road today for the first time and love it i think in couple month i will get the GT but all i see is bad review with a lot issues is that true
I put an Enduro on the GT. It had some issues rubbing against the inner walls and it would make sounds when I changed directions. Over time, it wore down and I didn’t hear it anymore. I still love my board. I haven’t had any issues with it. I got the recall footpad and it’s definitely much less sensitive -to the point where I have activation issues at times. But never has my board ghosted on me. As a heavier rider, the GT torque makes it the only board I like to ride. My XR and my Pint are collecting dust. I LOVE leaving the house without a charger and not having any range anxiety.
Great video once again! Don, I got a question. Do you know of any shops or the best way for me to get my tire replaced on my pint in the DMV? Looking to get a new tire!
I’ve received help from StokeBlokesWheeleShoppe and from Chris Jacques locally. If you come to Demo Day on Sunday, you can also likely find someone willing to help. Do you already have a new tire?
Canceled mine too, such a shame FM screwed it up so bad. They will regret what they’ve done when their next monthly profit report comes in. It is going to be a slow painful burnout for this company but they have no one to blame but themselves ✌️I feel sorry for their staff. Imagine having to tell people that you were a part of all this 🤮
They make a really fun product. For boards that shipped with issues, they are owning up to it. I agree the launch woes were highly unfortunate, but I’m glad I got a good board. It’s been awesome to me since day one.
@@followdon your just lucky you haven’t had to deal with Future Motion’s BS, I still can’t get my money back from them and they were still lying to me up until last week when I asked for my money back and now I can’t even get a response from them. They don’t know how to be honest and upfront with real problems they are having and they have lost at least one customer from that. Good luck if you ever need a straight answer from them.
@@followdon they made a really fun product and then stopped any other company from doing it right. Frustrating Morons I mean Future Motion are stopping the Stoke and they only care about how much money they can squeeze out of you.
At some point, you can "feel" 19-20 MPH or over torquing the board so the safety beeps lose their relevance. I'm still glad they added the feature though. It could be beneficial for newer riders! Are you enjoying your board, Dee?
Won't step foot on a GT for a very long time; won't risk it. QC and firmware just isn't there yet. Too many problems still. Ghosting (still an issue), nosedives caused by boards powering off while riding (massive, *dangerous* issue), nosedives caused by overheating, broken axles, refused warranty claims (with lies saying people modified their board when they didn't), stolen aftermarket parts during warranty claims, battery/range limitations due to firmware bugs. Just too many things wrong with a "flagship" board. My old board has none of these problems and hasn't in 1060 miles.
Luckily I haven’t had any of the above issues in the 1735 miles I’ve enjoyed on my GT (knocks on wood). If you get a good board, it’s definitely a lot of fun.
I’ve had my gt for 3 weeks now about, I had a somewhat serious nosedive I’m still recovering from, my arm is all torn up, and that’s only because I was pushing for 25mph, going around 23 I think I stepped on it a little too hard too fast and overwhelmed the motor, it never really gave out I just pushed it to the floor
Yikes! Hope healing goes well! I hit 23.1, but didn’t want to push my luck beyond that. Nosedives and falling at that speed is scary. I was reminded about that jumping off and running it out around 20 mph. I landed heel first and it took about a week for the muscle to heal. Stay safe out there! I’ll invest in safety gear before any future speed runs.
@@followdon I’ve got safety gear and I wear a helmet and wristies on every ride just with the way I planned to ride, and I’ve got elbows and knee guards for trails and more advanced tricks that I try, I think I already said it but one I heal up my elbow I’m gonna start wearing all my pads on most of my rides that aren’t strictly point A to B just because of my tendencies to push myself and fall (which I think came from growing up playing hockey) good luck on your journey!! stay safe and have as much fun as you can!!
I tried it briefly on another local rider’s GT. I can’t say that I gave it enough time to give it a fair assessment, but in the limited time I had on the board, I still preferred the Slick to it. There are variables I didn’t have time to test like PSI and shaping settings. I ride street 95% of the time, and the Slick seems to be preferred by most for street riding. It’s neat that you can order tires from Future Motion now and own both options.
That’s no good. Does it reliably ghost or is it intermittent? Did he get his front pad switched out by FM? Is his footpad caked with mud/dirt or clean? I’d definitely like to know for safety reasons. I’m 722 miles in with no ghosting issues.
@@followdon FM sent him a front foot pad without even a response to his email. So far no ghosting but he is afraid still to turn off simple stop. His foot pad was spotless. The board like I said was just out of the package. And I’m in AZ do it’s not muddy or anything
Some riders push it there, but it isn’t safe to do so. A crash at 20 mph is scary as is. I can’t imagine the damage a 30 mile an hour wipeout would cause.
The boards are big investments, but I financed mine and it has paid for itself - allows me to get around the city without a car. And it’s a bunch of fun!
Glad you have an XR to enjoy! But out of curiosity, what would you want to modify on a GT if you had unlimited flexibility to do so? I too am pro #righttorepair so please don’t take my curiosity as a challenge to your stance.
Lol, thank you 😊 For the record, Javier said I didn’t have to pay him, but I thought it would be fun to add some stakes to encourage him to try harder to do the tricks. I took him to dinner after too 😁
I had the same feeling saving up for the XR. Ultimately, I financed my GT to make paying for it easier. Having a Onewheel saves me money - living in the city I don’t use a car. So the investment ultimately pays for itself in time. Having the financing allows you to “break even” while paying for your board over time. Still I know the high price will feel out of reach for some. Keep growing in your career and keep your head up and you can have anything you desire. For me, it started with a change in mindset.
The Pint X is still a great board. In the rare moments when you need to carry the GT, you’ll feel the weight difference. Also, both the Pint X and the GT NEED the fast chargers too, IMHO. Thanks for watching!
@@followdon sounds good. My main issue is my size 12 shoes and I'm 6 ft 2 260 lol. I look like an ogre on this thing. Regret selling my XR. Do you have an opinion on if the rear pad extension is worth the effort on pint x? Look forward to more of your content.
I rarely ride my Pint anymore, but it was my first board and my only board for more than a year. I learned to place my foot on the stock pads, but many people who come from the XR notice the loss of foot real estate. Alexa mentioned she wanted the extended pads in my Pint X video. Javier used to ride the OneTail Plus on the XR to get more foot real estate as well. I think footpad choice is an individual decision and you can learn to work with what you have or invest in alternatives. FWIW, I tend to keep my boards closer to the stock experience. I'm 6'3", 244 lbs (just weighed in to write this reply), with size 11.5 shoes.
Onewheels are pricey, but in my experience, they’ve been worthwhile investments. Living in DC, I used to take Uber to travel or order delivery. I cut that spending almost 100 percent with my Onewheel. Also, there are times I want to get from Point A to Point B without sweating (without a car). The Onewheel is perfect for that. To spread the cost over several months for my first wheel, I financed it with Klarna. I SHOULD ride my bike more for the health benefits though.
At the speed it activates, it’s very difficult to hear over the wind. It’s not very loud. If you over torque with a quick change of direction, it’s definitely more audible.
But why don’t they make software where u can disable it from yo phone?…….. my two cents on the matter. Or only your phone can activate your one wheel 🛞…..
A lost mode for the Onewheel would be nice. That’s a good idea, James. But I wouldn’t want to require my phone to activate my wheel. Imagine if your battery died on your phone while you were out. I wouldn’t want to carry the wheel home. I was out on my wheel one day and it started pouring raining. My Onewheel survived, but my phone didn’t. You could see the water damage under the FaceTime camera. It would have been a bad situation if my board couldn’t activate in that scenario.
Glad you're having an awesome time out there Don! Also really love your shooting and editing style. Easy viewing :)

Thank you for the kind compliment and the thought of a Onewheel Podcast. I may experiment with a live stream, but I'm not sure that I'd commit to a regular podcast. If you want to reach out and ask any questions, feel free to connect with me on Instagram (instagram.com/followdon).
Thanks again for watching, Jason!
How do you only have 2k subscribers?! Such high quality content.
Great video Don. I’m loving the 6.1 update!
Thanks, Evan! It’s definitely much better. I love the board even more!
I didn't even know who Javier was when I met him at Float Life fest. I was just happy to see other black folks on Onewheels. He was mad cool.
Javier was the first rider I met in DC who invited me on a group ride. He is mad cool. Where are you based? Are there many riders in your area?
Love the vibes of your video! float on brother!
Thank you so much! More to come. Thank you for watching!
I am actually contimplating buying a GT to commute in DC from Union Statuon to 18th street… Love to see the DC views.
DC is one of the best cities to ride Onewheel in my opinion. It shrinks the city and opens up your options. And it’s super fun to ride! It’s awesome that the monuments are Onewheel friendly. Let me know if you get one!
@@followdon I bought a used XR under 200 miles for 1k! I’m learning to ride but I’m getting better.
People have done tests and its cut off point for one guy is he got it to 30mph and instantly nosedived but he was able to bring it back up
I may have seen that video. 30 mph is another level of speed. You'll know well in advance that you're in risky territory before a nosedive occurs. My current GT top speed (while not trying to test the upper limits of the board) is 23.1 mph.
My GT arrives next week!
That’s super exciting! I moved a bit further out in the city so I’m appreciating the range more now than before. I know you’ll love your GT too!
Update for the win! Out here looking for taller and taller mountains…
Yes, indeed! Thanks for watching the video. I’m super excited for a full summer on the GT!
This was an excellent video
Thank you so much!
LOL the ending #ClickItNow
You know the vibes! Lol 😂
Don your work is always to notch!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Thanks for the video. I’m very close to order for my first ever Onewheel and I’m going for the GT. I noticed your fender has a glossy finish, is that from Onewheel?
It is the carbon fiber fender from Onewheel. I’m excited for you!
Finally pulled the trigger. Took me a while to decide slick or threaded. Finally got the threaded. 😁
Training starts this weekend. 🏂
Nice video... Look, you mentioned that you are a 230lb dude, exactly what I am at too... Can I ask you in what PSi are riding with?
Thank you for the video.
I like riding around 27 PSI. Sometimes my weight goes up to around 240 and I also will sometimes carry a heavy bag.
@@followdon Thank you so much for the reply... Yeah, same thing here, sometimes I'm over 240lb too... But I try to keep my PSI at 22, over than that I think it gets too hard.
Got me smiling, thanks !
Thank you for watching!
Love this video and yes i love the Gt it’s a beautiful machine will never talk bad about fm
I’m glad you’re enjoying the GT and thank you for the kind words about the video 🙏🏾
I take it wiring cripping is not an issue? Thanks
We called the beep the sendicator if it's beep it's mean you send it 😎
Lol. Love that, Snir! 😂
What does @OnewheelWing think about eventually getting a GT? Did you talk about that?
I’m asking @OneWheelWing to describe his GT plans in his own words, but I assure you, he loves riding Onewheels of all kinds. If Future Motion sent him one, I bet it would become his primary board.
@@followdon
I’m surprised that FM doesn’t send him one for free. He is probably the best Onewheel ambassador that has ever lived! He has earned one! Period!
What is the helmet you’re wearing in this video? Thanks!
I'm wearing the Lumos Matrix helmet. It comes in three colors and has a huge LED panel in the back that you can customize.
I just got pint i will learn and maybe get a GT too to bad my pint is only 6 miles
It’s the network tap in
Aye! Thanks for commenting. What’s your IG? I’ll send you the clip.

Anything new happening on your OneWheel?
I put an Enduro on the GT. It had some issues rubbing against the inner walls and it would make sounds when I changed directions.
Over time, it wore down and I didn’t hear it anymore. I still love my board. I haven’t had any issues with it. I got the recall footpad and it’s definitely much less sensitive -to the point where I have activation issues at times. But never has my board ghosted on me.
As a heavier rider, the GT torque makes it the only board I like to ride. My XR and my Pint are collecting dust.
I LOVE leaving the house without a charger and not having any range anxiety.
What is the device on your strap with the two circles?
That is the Peak Design Capture. You can hang your camera from it so you’re always ready to shoot. I’m not using it as much as I used to.
Good video”
Thank you! I appreciate you for taking the time to watch and leave a comment 🙏🏾
Aye bro u pretty smart, cause I click each next video😂…… well done my bother.
Thank you, James! I appreciate you!
@@followdon at lease the community will be able to help you when your board eventually dies, VESC all the way!
ONEWHEEL GT! 🤙🏾👍🏾🔥
Best board especially for bigger riders in my opinion!
I turned the beep off after 2 weeks of owning it
At some point, you can "feel" 19-20 MPH or over torquing the board so the safety beeps lose their relevance. I'm still glad they added the feature though. It could be beneficial for newer riders! Are you enjoying your board, Dee?
@@followdon hell yeah man I’m loving it! 260 miles in 19 days so far.
I want one ...
They are a ton of fun, and practical if you live in a city with bike paths!

🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Have you evert tried GT with a treaded tire ? What did you think of it ?
I tried it briefly on another local rider’s GT. I can’t say that I gave it enough time to give it a fair assessment, but in the limited time I had on the board, I still preferred the Slick to it. There are variables I didn’t have time to test like PSI and shaping settings.
I ride street 95% of the time, and the Slick seems to be preferred by most for street riding. It’s neat that you can order tires from Future Motion now and own both options.
My buddy had the latest firmware and hardware. His still ghosted in the first 4 miles.
One wheel should increase the speed to a least 30 MPH on the GTs at the very max
Some riders push it there, but it isn’t safe to do so. A crash at 20 mph is scary as is. I can’t imagine the damage a 30 mile an hour wipeout would cause.
Brilliant because people are busting their fucking heads going 10
😅
luh mah GeeTEE 💪🏾🖤
Glad you’re enjoying yours! Love mine too!
What helmet are you wearing?
That is the Lumos Matrix helmet. Thanks for watching!
@@followdon Thanks! Really cool helmet, it is a shame it is not MIPS (or maybe just sold out of MIPS)
I purchased the MIPS version of it from gear.com.
I just checked and it looks like they are sold out of it though 😢
The helmet I use daily now is the Unit 1 FARO MIPS helmet. It’s another nice option.
Safety beep sounds like when you die in half life 2
😂😂😂
I have to retain myself of buying the GT
The boards are big investments, but I financed mine and it has paid for itself - allows me to get around the city without a car. And it’s a bunch of fun!
I'll keep my xr no thank you I am done with this company that wants to limit us from doing things on what we bought
Glad you have an XR to enjoy! But out of curiosity, what would you want to modify on a GT if you had unlimited flexibility to do so? I too am pro #righttorepair so please don’t take my curiosity as a challenge to your stance.
Breaking News! Influencers try to trigger GhosTing around innocent pedestrians and bodies of water! XD
Good one!
Cool content ..but with 20usd cost..
Lol, thank you 😊
For the record, Javier said I didn’t have to pay him, but I thought it would be fun to add some stakes to encourage him to try harder to do the tricks.
I took him to dinner after too 😁
No way buy a, Surron, you can get up and go 50mph stock
Those are really nice bikes!
I have to wait 3 years in my job to get gt, : |
I had the same feeling saving up for the XR. Ultimately, I financed my GT to make paying for it easier. Having a Onewheel saves me money - living in the city I don’t use a car. So the investment ultimately pays for itself in time. Having the financing allows you to “break even” while paying for your board over time.
Still I know the high price will feel out of reach for some. Keep growing in your career and keep your head up and you can have anything you desire. For me, it started with a change in mindset.
Soon as I can get my hands on a GT my pint x hits ebay
@@followdon right on Don, ill give it some time as a stock board until that GT is mine. Take care

Stop supporting a company that’s anti right to repair
They’re product is too fun tho :(
I agree with Yee Boiii. It is super fun! It would be tough to give up my Onewheel in the same way it would be tough to give up my iPhone. Maybe worse!
For short distance, i prefer my Bmx bike...
This gadget is pricy , finaly it s a big joke for people who dont know how making with money....
Idk why I don't hear the safety beep for some reason
