I watched this just out of curiosity, but think you are right that keeping top speed down is important. Especially if something gets caught up in the front wheel or in this case it suddenly stops. But at least with a helmet and some pads it may be safer. My wife was just putt’n around on our daughters one wheel very slowly on the sidewalk which she had done many times before it wasn’t her first time then the front dipped down she fell off and a knee surgery we had to pay for. Yay a $10,000 one wheel ride. I believe the foot sensors are the problem it’s hard to keep the correct amount of pressure on the foot sensors when the one wheel is constantly moving up and down to the ever changing terrain like a suspension that sometimes the feet become disconnected from the sensor causing the board to shut off. This issue is completely different from those who are going to fast and causing the motor to shut off. Unfortunately I don’t know that they’ll ever be able to correct this problem this is why we sold all three of our one wheels.
Ive had this happen. Its honestly risky to go too slowly bc if your feet arent positioned right, the board thinks you are trying to stop. Do you mind if i ask what kind of knee injury she had? Did she step off with 1 foot to catch herself and the board took off or something?
You're incorrect. You only need to be covering both sensors in the front foot pad if you're riding below 1 mph. Thats extremely slow. Above that speed only one of the sensors needs to be covered. Onewheels are death traps, clearly by your irreparable damage to your hand. I am a EBoard enthusiast and would recommend: 1. Ditch the Onewheel 2. Get a Meepo City Rider or V3 with 100mm wheels. There is a remote which could be the only supposed downside. 3. If you decide to keep the Onewheel then I would suggest getting Fangs attachments for the power offs and nose dives, the fangs will allow you to ride it out like a nose press. *just be aware of the "push back" from One Wheel, it happens when trying to gain more speed but either battery or the computer will not allow it and it ‘jerks’ rider back to alert You. People always say "respect the OW"... That's tough to do with its limitations. Small battery, underpowered motor and bad software. Needs a bigger battery, more powerful motor and a capped top speed of around 30mph. No nosedives between 15 - 19mph, if 19 is the max speed then it should maintain that. As for hill climbing, don't get me started. 2k for all of that? I get it, the ride is something else but coming from any other esport one can't live with these limitations.
Oh no! Sorry you got hurt. Is there the abilityon the one wheel to set it to coast of the power cuts out? Seems like a mtn bike would be the best shuttle, but too big? Stay well man!
Only reason I’m hesitant in also grabbing a OW is because of these crash horror stories I frequently hear about.. Thankfully they now have those “fangs” that help to deter heavy damage from a nosedive (on pavement at least I’m not sure how they’d work out on an off-road trail that isn’t smooth). Did you have fangs on yours when the crash happened? And did it turn off because the battery died or did it just turn off randomly for no reason? Pretty scary if it was the latter
yup I had fangs and was on the pavement when my crash happened, they didnt' do anything lol. The board randomly turned off, it was a mechanical failure:(. Not the typical nose dive from going too fast.

Over 600 miles and not one turn off yet. Must be a problem with your board only. I’ve never heard of anyone having this problem on one wheel forums and face book pages.
All this talking about respecting the wheel is just ridiculous. They are just not safe and Onewheel should finally address the problems. Shutoff at fullspeed without any warning is not an acceptable idea. I had 3 very dangerous nosedives (despite lots of respect) with my pint and i'm off.
I'm on the fence right now thinking about buying the one wheel. When you first road the one wheel, how long did it take you to get comfortable riding it?
Sounds to me like you have a good lawsuit there. You are not the first person I’ve heard it shut off on them and they won their suits. Not trying to scam them but it it just shut off in the middle of your travels then you better look into that since you are injured.
Board didn’t die out on you, you pushed over the limit and paid for it unfortunately. If boards were dying out for no reason OW would have been sued out of the existence! Glad you are back on OW, stay safe and be smart!
A electric skateboard doesn't rely on the motor to balance. If the Onewheel motor glitches your on the ground and your going sideways so it's hard to run
if the motor fails or you go to fast, the nose dives and the board instantly stops, you go flying off... skateboards have 4 wheels so if the motor dies you still keep rolling safely to a stop.
Have you fellas had issues with the motor controller or motor issues? I was originally going to get a one wheel but I decided to go esk8 instead. Now I’m building my 4th skateboard. 😆
Stay away from one wheel that thing will mess you up ! Trust me I know . Torn meniscus! My knees bent out shape . It’s fun but not worth destroying my body

I don't recall you have ever said why did it fail? You said you sold it. So guessing it was working again after that?
It malfunctioned/turned off, not the normal nose dive. Onewheel fixed it for the buyer.
That's awesome good customer service!
@@TruckHouseLife Can u like the video of the fall pls
What kind of fangs(the wheels in the bumper)did you get for it?
Landsurf Fangs 2.0
@@TruckHouseLife Nice. Ya I had a gnarly nose dive like two weeks after I got mine so I’m looking at fangs my self. Let me know how you like them cuz I don’t know if I want those or the 3.0 bumper.
@@tylerschlauger2717 get the Sonny wheels (like fangs but with big rollerblade wheels). They would actually stop a nose dive.
@@TruckHouseLife ok awesome I’ll check them out cuz ya my Onewheel scares the crap out of me now but I love it to much to stop. Oh and great videos lately man I’ve really been enjoying them
Over 600 miles and not one turn off yet. Must be a problem with your board only. I’ve never heard of anyone having this problem on one wheel forums and face book pages.
Nice, hope it stays good for ya!
All this talking about respecting the wheel is just ridiculous. They are just not safe and Onewheel should finally address the problems. Shutoff at fullspeed without any warning is not an acceptable idea. I had 3 very dangerous nosedives (despite lots of respect) with my pint and i'm off.
Yup they'll still get ya sometimes.
Do the fangs make a difference when off road?
not much
Get all terrain electric skateboard! It has more range, more stability, less weight and cheaper price
Too late;)
@@TruckHouseLife Never too late brother!
I'm on the fence right now thinking about buying the one wheel. When you first road the one wheel, how long did it take you to get comfortable riding it?
Do it and make sure to get an XR (not a pint) so you actually have a good range to ride. I got comfortable on it quick, but offroad takes practice.
@@TruckHouseLife Awesome!! And thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my message
Did you not have fangs when you had your accident?
Yup, they don't work when you're going really fast up hill
Good to know. Trying to learn as much as possible b4 taking the plunge
Works great for commuting except those times u wake up in er lol
Need one of those hats?!
I'll have em in February, hit me up at truckhouselife@gmail.com
Get a meepo mini man!!
Mayhaps...
TIMMY fall off something 🤔🙄
hope not!
My buddy and came across a guy in my old neighborhood that fell off 1 of those head 1st and ended up dieing a few weeks from brain trauma
that sucks:(
@@TruckHouseLife yeah crazy shit dude be careful on that thing
Imo the onewheel is far from the most dangerous. Electric longboards are far more dangerous cause of those tiny wheels.
Sounds to me like you have a good lawsuit there. You are not the first person I’ve heard it shut off on them and they won their suits. Not trying to scam them but it it just shut off in the middle of your travels then you better look into that since you are injured.
yeah, I'm the one that signed up for it though;) they didn't force me to buy one so wouldn't do that to em.
Why do you think it just stopped on you? Sounds like a malfunction?
yup it was a board malfunction, onewheel fixed it for the buyer of my old board.
2 possibilities that happened 1. you didn’t buy the 3$ power button cover and a rock hit it 2. you went past pushback
haha, not quite, I have the power button and didn't go past push back, the board turned off (it was a malfunction that onewheel repaired).
EUC seems the answer? :)
mayhaps!?
@@TruckHouseLife check out my clips - the model my Mrs is riding is legit small but a Tesla v3 is even more tiny 🤷🏼♂️
You quit after tearing a ligament 😂
That thing is a death trap..... broke two ribs..... still ride the hell out of that thing. Just run slow.
lol yup gotta run slow fo sho!
You don’t race moto x in a bathing suit and you DO ride a one wheel like you are racing a moto x race.
lol
Board didn’t die out on you, you pushed over the limit and paid for it unfortunately. If boards were dying out for no reason OW would have been sued out of the existence! Glad you are back on OW, stay safe and be smart!
uh no bro, it literally turned off, like the power turned off. Had to send it to onewheel for repair.
@@TruckHouseLife well, that blows.
EUC = dethwheel. OneWheel = sex
lol
How is it the most dangerous EV? My electric skateboard goes twice as fast
@@TruckHouseLife both are potentially dangerous but we are willing to take the risk for the enjoyment of riding.
Have you fellas had issues with the motor controller or motor issues? I was originally going to get a one wheel but I decided to go esk8 instead. Now I’m building my 4th skateboard. 😆
@@enjoyesk8978 only the 1 time it cut off on my old board, there was an error code it threw.
a chicago dude: ua-cam.com/video/v_Ha6v1DI54/v-deo.html BTW I wouldn't last 2 seconds without breakin my head :( Rich
How the he'll does something going 20 mph not glide to a stop?
Once the nose dives the board stops and you go flying.
I have a separated shoulder thanks to my malfunctioning One Wheel. Sold it ASAP.
yipes, sorry man
Stay away from one wheel that thing will mess you up ! Trust me I know . Torn meniscus! My knees bent out shape . It’s fun but not worth destroying my body
I just go slow now, sorry about your knee that sucks
like he said respect your board and know your limits. ive had mine for 18months with over 4200 miles on it. i did have a few injuries of course but hey noone ever learn to ride a bike without falling. i leanred my limits. my xr onewheel is the best purchase I've ever made.
I beg to differ its the most dangerous ev when eucs go 50 mph + lmfaoo
the one wheel is NOT a "Electric Vehicle". it is not a vehicle. your title of "EV" is just wrong.
lol, a vehicle is defined as a machine that transports people or cargo... i think it justifies calling it an EV, it's electric and it transports humans
@@TruckHouseLife I ride mine to work everyday..... It's my VEHICLE. LOL
Why not try an Electronic Unicycle?
too big
