To continue our journey we now invite you to discover the second of three videos where we show how Hermès Horloger in Brügg / Switzerland designs, creates and manufactures its iconic "Carré H" wristwatch.
Part 2: Case / Dial Production and Assembly
Be sure not to miss part 1 & 3!
Part 1: movement "H1912" production, assembly & testing (already online)
Part 3 will show you how the unique Hermès Barénia calfskin strap is hand-made. (will go online soon)
Back in 2010, Hermès introduced the "Carré H", a square timepiece created by Marc Berthier, with a modern aesthetic, designed for instant legibility.
In 2019 the "Carré H" returned in a new style: Marc Berthier has enlarged the square by a few millimetres and opted for light effects, playing across the steel case with its polished and microbead-blasted finishes, on the dial with its right-angled guilloché work, and on the facetted hands and numerals. This perfectly balanced use of light harmoniously accentuates the clarity of the design, the softened edges of the square, the curved profile of the case, and the cylindrical crystal. Finally, the exclusive font of the numerals - making use of the zero - contributes to the new aesthetic equilibrium
of this watch.

Amazing video! I'm a mechanical engineer and love this stuff! Thanks.
You are very welcome! The high level of vertical integration at Hermès is fascinating...
That was very interesting. Sort of ASMR to me.
ASMR! Well I expected a lot of reactions and comments to such a video, but not this. Thank you! There is one online already and another in the pipeline. Hope they have the same effect for you! Thanks for sharing!
A fascinatinhg series of videos. I learned a lot and developed a new appreciation.
Love your comment! Let me know if you have any questions...
What a wonderful series of videos. Thank you. I'm buying an Hermes Arceau 40mm Automatic for my birthday 🎂 🥳
Thank you for your content and passion from Greenwich, London.
J
Bravo! Congratulations! Thanks for your kind feedback! Happy Birthday 🎂 … and may your Arceau always show you happy seconds, minutes and hours…
Wonderful, knowing there is the handwork to the extent there is on this dial just adds to the pleasure I’m sure when the owner looks at it.
ianmedium Thanks for sharing! It primarily shows that Hermès is a true watchmaker, having integrated almost all necessary steps to develop and manufacture a mechanical wristwatch under its roof. That’s not the common standard at all and some with much less to offer in that sense make much more noise... 😉
As you told me in the first part, it is worth it to give it a shot to this watch, one can appreciate more the watch once I learn everything is going on to produce it thanks to you and this kind of videos, I always look for watches with a date, but nonetheless is a nice looking piece.
Once you had the Carré H on your wrist please let us know what you think. Rafael I am happy that you liked our two videos so far. If you have any questions, please let me know...
Beautiful! God-like!
Thank you for sharing! I am happy you liked the video!
would love the Bose QC 35II Headphones....
But, you already are a subscriber I suppose...😉
Great video as always
Interesting to discover the high level of vertical integration!!! Hermès is a true watchmaker!
WatchAdvisor i had no idea. Very interesting
Love the vids ,I have to ask, is that a solid piece of "steel " or is it Aluminum , thank you
Albert Myers The case or the dial?
@@WatchAdvisor The case, you held up a piece of material you said was steel, however it looks like aluminum.. thank you
I was waiting to watch this video 🤩👍
I hope you liked it!
WatchAdvisor I love ❤️ it
Other day i commented on your 007 Swatch clip - i got immediately deleted. Or shadow banned, i do not know.
Your clip was pretty cool regardless haha
No Albert you don't get deleted at all. It is UA-cam holding back comments for review for various reasons and it is me who has to clear them later. In the moment nothing is on hold and all comments kept on hold by UA-cam were good to go. I released all of them... There is also nothing UA-cam considers to be "likely spam" ... Anyhow I am happy that this automated control is there, otherwise it would be impossible to let all comments go online without being read first ...
@@WatchAdvisor Okay, copy
Amazing , brilliant and perfect.
Thanks for sharing! Please don’t miss our other videos showing the craftsmanship of Hermès…
Wow, brilliant Alexander. I never realised how much hand crafting was involved. Thank you 👍
I wrote this before here: Hermès is a real watchmaker!
Alexandre, how long would you estimate (or perhaps Hermes has provided a confirmed number) it takes to make one of these watches? Is this a longer time than is typical?
It is for sure longer than a typical wristwatch. From the movement, to the case, the dial, the hands, numerals on the dial... so many specific and beautiful details... If you would build the watch one by one part ... I would estimate it takes 90 days ...
Very interesting and informative, I always wanted to know how they applied the hour makers and numerals. Thanks for the video.
I am happy to read this! Thanks for sharing! That was also the purpose when filming all the details...
Would have been nice if the Hermes logo was also appliqué instead of pad printed in the dial.
A choice of the industrial-designer Marc Berthier...
Dial and case making are usually overlooked. Some best dials and cases may need more handwork than a movement.
Very true! Only because many are not aware of the fact, that does not mean that this parts of the watch are at least as interesting as the movement itself...
Really great vid thanks
Albert Myers It’s Sunday morning and this is the first comment I read. Wonderful! Thank you! Part 3 will probably even top it...
Thank you for this very interesting Videos. I'm enjoy for the 3th part
Third part will go online soon...
Impresive!
It is in fact impressive and shows how much a real watchmaker Hermès is ...
Damn it Alexander! I can’t stop thinking about this watch since the first video. I blame YOU! I need to try one on
Once you have done this please let us know how it felt. And, take good care of your credit card 💳!!!! 😜
It's amazing. I tried on at the hermes exhibition in Melbourne before they released this for sale. Love at first sight.
Diese Aussprache ist einfach unfassbar 😂
?????
They are a professional crew.
Jay, Hermès is a real watchmaker! Much more watchmaker than many others who loudly claim it...
Very fascinating
Scott, thank you for the feedback! I guarantee you that you will write the same after watching part 3 of our videos...
Nice video mate
Tim Girian Thanks for your positive feedback!
