The system was losing pressure, since then I just placed a one way valve on the fuel line right before the filter close to the fuel tank, and the gas line remains pressurized, not a problem starting it at all since then, rodeo is still working great!! thanks
@James Barnes Sure, it was the dorman fuel check valve part number 800-196, I put mine as close to the fuel tank as possible on a portion of rubber hose, has been working great ever since.
If it were a bad fuel pump, there would be hesitation at idle and a really hard start that would only get worse when trying to pressurize the system until it finally just gives out - could just be a bad check valve in the pump keeping it from staying pressurized but even still, the pressure should be significant. Maybe a weak fuel pump relay.
Added note the bracket (fuel pressure regulator) hex bolt in the back is a pain to get to! only way i was able to get it out i cut a allen wrench short end in a little more then half. to get at the back bolt of the 2. and a small pipe to get added leverage. at least on the 3.2 size eng. Good luck.
@@CREEEeeedOg Seems to be purely to hold that bracket on, so once you get it off (the hard part) I think you can just get away with putting it back on hand tight.
If anyone can help me I have a issue when im going up on a hill it accelerates its self and when I pres the gas it doesent go the only thing it does is it accelerates the speed domiter 1998 izuzu rodeo
Hello I'm from Polynesia, I also have a problem with the same car model after disconnecting my battery 1 year ago now, my car doesn't start at all, I put gasoline, the engine is running correctly, but nothing, it doesn't start, I'm not if the gasoline goes well do you have an idea? Please. We will like to.
It's not the pump, if it was, you'd notice it driving down the road, especially under heavy load, such as wide open throttle. I also doubt it's leaky injectors considering how quickly it loses pressure after the car shuts off. Try the pressure regulator or the check valve, they help hold system pressure after the engine is shut off.
some friend toll me go back and chek if you hear some noise the pum is working but it is doing the noise but is to hard to make the engine start some times have to push the gas pedal
I had the same problem with my 2000 Isuzu Wizard which is the same as the Rodeo...but i found a solution to the problem without spending a dime!!! Turn your key to the ACC then On position for about 10 seconds...let the fuel pump through the line..then start the engine. Since I've been doing that; i have never had another hard start. I'm not a mechanic so i don't know why it works..but it just does! Please try and let me know if it work with you too.
Same issue in my 04 rodeo. Checked battery, alternator, had the timing maintenance done ahead of schedule, cleaned and recleaned battery terminals, replaced the starter, fuel pump is the last one. Injector cleaner seems to work some of the time. I'll try again with the cleaner and really hoping it works. Any Suggestion on recommended gad type? Auto 3.2 in Florida Thanks.
I did exactly you did but the rodeo keep doing the same after replace battery, starter and it keep doing the same I guess I have to replace the fuel pump ?
the fuel pump has a back flow check ball which keeps the system pressurized while in the off position, if the rodeo has had no pump change the pump is the original then gum might be forming in the pump and causing the check ball to stick or in this case not seating properly, try first some fuel injector cleaner and give the vehicle a treat by filling the tank from near empty with supreme fuel from Chevron ad the fuel cleaner first before filling and drive normally , if problem goes away then problem solved, if it persists then fuel pump will need to be replaced, make sure the tank is empty before replacement. at the same time I'd get new fuel filter new pressure regulator done as well

I know it's too late for him, but those who are looking at this video now it's the fuel pressure regulator to the firewall on the right side.
Its behind the bracket bolted to driver side of the engine to the rear of the fuel rail

Did you find a solution? I'd definitely check the pressure regulator first then your pump check valve. Let me know!

Ever hola!!! Tengo una isuzu rodeo 2002, tiene presión de gasolina si hacen cranck pero no enciende y no es la bomba de gasolina no la ignición

Fuel filter or fuel pump usually

What do you mean by the "check valve"?
Fuel pressure regulator? If pump turns on its not the issue. Also replace the fuel filter.

Hey there. I hate to say it, but I think your fuel pump is going out. I think that’s why it may not have enough fuel pressure.
Filter problem
i notice my engine even new battery, if i start the engine very slow turning.. what is the remedy of that problem
Starter motor on the way out
Posible the negative ground cable that goes to the engine is damaged
if you want the car to start try putting some Gas in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
