For me this is the perfect coop Mk game. I and a friend played when we were 11 yrs old. We never finished the last boss until this year we beat the game 😂
me and my dad used to play this game together a lot and we beat the last boss a few times but when he left he took the ps2 so i haven’t been able to play it since
My dream Mortal Kombat game would be a more fleshed out version of Deception's open world RPG esque Konquest mode with the beat em' up gameplay of Shaolin Monks.
@IStevenSeagal More like Shaolin Monk's gameplay in a more polished version of Deception's Konquest mode. I like Konquest in Deception a lot. It's a surprisingly ambitious open world RPG. However it is very rough around the edges and clearly didn't get as much time in the oven as everything else in the game did. I would love a more fleshed out, better made version of it.
@@blackshadowdiaperboy it wouldn't make sense to have it in the old era. It would make shit too confusing. Plus I think it would be fun to play as Kung Lao and Raiden
This game is one of the most fun coop experiences in all of gaming period. It's has no lows and that is precisely why every one who played it when it came out was asking for more back in the day. Still mad to this day.
Many folks that worked on MK SM then worked in God of War 2. Which is seen as one of the best GoW. MK SM is pure gold. It's a shame that Midway was not doing ok an died.
I remember getting this for my 17th Birthday back in September 2005. I played this to death and it was even better when I had friends over to do co-op. This is one of my favorite mk games. Aside from the gameplay I also really love the atmosphere because of my love for MK1 and especially my favorite MK game MK2. The atmosphere felt like those games in a 3D co-op beat em up form. Great memories! I'm gonna rebuy an original Xbox or ps2 so I can replay this!
God so many memories playing this game, hands down my favorite game of all time. I remember playing it with my brothers and our dad, we’d have separate saves so we all would be able to play with each other (ex: me and my middle brother, me and my oldest brother, me and my dad, my 2 brothers together, oldest brother and dad, and middle brother with dad)
This was a good memory i remember playing this with a friend in the fifth grade on his x box we finished the whole thing and had a blast... good times...
My favorite fatality of all time was the lui Kang execute where he ignites his fist, runs up punches the head off then bicycle kicks it into the body it was badass
i remember playin this game so much with my cousin although we never beat it. getting to see what the rest of the game looked like and also that the game still looks as good as it did to me when i was younger is genuinely so amazing. i also hope that NRS would dive a little into the deep end and give us another konquest/shaolin monks esque experience at least one last time
I remember my uncle getting this game day 1 with the strategy guide for it. I didn't care for it at first glance but playing it most definitely changed my opinion! This game was really fun to play coop in, even if it wasn't with the same person all the way through.
I was a sophomore in high school when Shaolin Monks came out. I got the game as soon as I could and booted up the PS2 and got my brother to play with me. I was Liu Kang and he was Kung Lao. We went through everything since we had a game guide. Great game and amazing intro video. Designs are still among the best ones they’ve done.
NR studios gotta make another co-op MK game but featuring Kenshi and Johnny as the MC's with Baraka and Reptile as the unlockable playable characters just like how Liu Kang/Kung Lao did with Scorpion and Sub Zero id buy that in a heartbeat
My classmate at high school owned this game. After school we would go to his house and play this game. Cool game especially playing coop with a friend.
Fond memories with this game. It's definitely a lot more fun to play the Ko-op on this game than single player. I really like all the secrets you can obtain in this game from unlocking characters in the VS mode to even unlocking a playable version of MK2. This game had a decent amount of content and really wish they made a sequel. I recommend doing future playthroughs with some of the other characters because they definitely make some encounters and boss fights a cakewalk. You're doing great man and look forward to the next one!
I was like 10 when I first played this game. My dad was hiding it from my brother in his closet since it was rated M. It was still freshly wrapped. Also my first rated M game and was one of my favorites. Crazy how much easier it is over a decade later. Hope they release a game very similar to it with today's tech if not a sequel
This is a my childhood games, and in my opinion this MK game is the best MK action adventure game ever. I hope NetherRealm Studio will make a series like this. 👍
i show everyone how sick the reptile death was. thats cus that stage was the hardest on first play through and it took like 50+ tries to beat him. also so happy u played the intro scene :D :D
I have fond memories of Shaolin Monks. When we were kids, my sister didn't care about games nearly as much as I did, but we both loved Shaolin Monks' co op. I remember finding out about the ability to teleport to the other player in a puff of smoke and we called it "the poof button". We were dying from laughter as we kept messing around with it. I always think back to how much fun this game was for us.
Started watching your channel a few days ago and it’s crazy how you had 7,000+ subs less then 72 hours ago, now it’s 8,000. Keep up the good work. When I find channels this low in subs they usually do good within months to years but I think you’re gonna be a rising star soon with your comedic charm and video analyses on games
Dude I feel your pain on the bridge jump in the beginning of the game. Me and my cousin stopped at that spot when we we're little because we thought it was undoable and we had to activate something we couldn't find. We came back like 4 years later and beat the game in 1 weekend it was such a blast. Couldn't recommend this game enough for how old it is. At the time of beating it we we're around 12 years old that was so long ago. Honestly might ask to borrow his modded gen 1 xbox to replay through it.
As a kid I remember my dad had a ps2 and he had all the 3d mk games on there and since I was so young and bad at the games I would always just like watch the intro cutscenes and the shaolin monks intro was always the coolest one in my opinion
This game got not one bad thing about it been my favourite game long time I remember jamming this way back on the ps2 and doing co op with my cousins , this needs a remaster

Hands down the best Mortal Kombat game in my opinion. No other Mortal Kombat game has compared to it in just replay-ability, story, lore and world building, and just all around enjoyability. Playing solo is a blast and playing Co-op just makes it 10x better. I honestly have no idea why they never bothered to make a sequel or even a remaster. You don’t even need to make a direct sequel. Just keep the core gameplay the same and make a new story following new characters in Lui Kang’s new era of Mortal Kombat. No one would be mad as long as the core gameplay elements that make Shaolin Monks, Shaolin Monks where still there.

Mortal Kombat sandbox RPG? My god I wish

FACTS
Well, we didn’t even got any them of them in the backward compatibility programs of Xbox or Playstation. Very sad, it would be good to preserve them
This would be great considering Armageddon never launched on Xbox on PAL
I could definitely see Netherrealm making a Shaolin Monks 2 that doesn't continue the story and just takes place in Liu Kangs new era
It would be Raiden and Kung Lao
