Tommy (Chris Farley) blows a sale by dramatizing a grisly collision.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Saturday Night Live star Chris Farley had his first starring role in this frankly lowbrow comedy, which teamed him with fellow SNL cast member David Spade. Big Tom Callahan (Brian Dennehy) is the street-smart owner of a company that makes auto parts, and one day he'd like his son Tommy Callahan III (Chris Farley) to take over the business. Trouble is, Tommy Boy is a fat, dim-witted slob who took seven years to get a business degree and has no idea how to run a business. His father's sudden death unexpectedly puts Tommy Boy in charge, with his dad's weasely assistant Richard (David Spade) trying to guide him. However, what no one knows is Big Tom's wife, the young and beautiful Beverly (Bo Derek), married him only for his money while holding on to her lover, Paul (Rob Lowe), whose presence she explains by telling people he's her son. Beverly and Paul are waiting for Tommy Boy to run the company into the ground so they can take over, sell it off and earn a quick payoff. However, what Tommy Boy lacks in smarts (and hygiene), he makes up for in determination, and he hits the road with Richard for a long sales trip in a last ditch effort to rescue his father's legacy. Tommy Boy was a major hit that turned Chris Farley into a screen star; sadly, died a little over 2 1/2 years later.

Yes! Just a look or unplanned hand gesture. Beautiful! Farley’s change of vocal tone when he’s doing all of the impressions and they’re all such realistic human reactions to this very terrifying yet possible event. My mom still cracks up every time my sister and I start quoting it hehe
There's a behind the scenes video somewhere where they're sitting there and Farley suggest Spade try to grab his arm and he pulls it free. So much of this is improv, like they could read each others minds.

I knew a guy looked like Fat Albert. He was a drug counselor! And he'd eat buckets of chicken seriously I'm not kidding cuz I'd drive him home from work...he'd stop and eat a bucket of chicken to hide it from his wife.

When I first saw this scene, I turned into a squeaky toy. Every little bit of oxygen intake was squeezed out of my lungs, as a laugh, resulting in some sort of squeaky toy sound. I haven't laughed that hard in years

I love him too. The documentary that came out last year I am chris farley is really good. He was such a unique talent that many people in his inner circle didn't appreciate and used him. That led to severe depression on his part and low self esteem which eventually led to a fatal overdose. He thought people didn't like him. If i had the pleasure of being his friend, i would've be around him all the time just to enojoy his company . Rip Chris

I know this is an old comment, but Chris Farley was notorious for that. He would always do everything he could think of to try and get the other actors to break and start laughing. You can really see it all over his old Saturday Night Live stuff. Adam Sandler always seemed to be the worst. He could barely get his lines out half the time for trying not to laugh at Chris. Notice how he was always trying not to look at him during the skits. Lol.

It was Chris' idea to have Dave pull at his arm and try to stop him when he picks up the car.
He said to Dave just before a take "Just pull on my arm this time."
Then he looked at the director and said "watch this...".

Fun fact: Chris Farley improvised his character’s desktop demo from the get go. He didn’t notice there was a lighter on the stage desk until they started filming.
The thing that makes this scene great is that Farley improvised his lines and salesman pitch. You can see Spade trying to contain his laughter as well as when Farley shakes off his hand as if he’s saying, “I’ve got this.” He was a legend at comedy and there will never be another like him. RIP Chris Farley. ❤
