I use the "let me check.....yep, it's closed" occasionally when someone doubts me and shouldn't. A worker asked if I heard from the insurance company the other day, while standing in my driveway. Then 5 minutes later asked again, with a "are you sure?" Added to it. I looked at him, didnt move or change expression, and said "let me check.....nope.....didn't hear from them".
Exactly! He would have been a better fit than Kevin James in all the Sandler flicks had Farley not died! Kevin James is fine but Chris Farley was special with his explosive style of humor and does better at playing that lovable idiot
The exterior is Hutch's in Hamilton, Ontario. After seeing this clip I took a trip down there for lunch this week. Of course the interior is entirely different. It's a fish and chip joint that also has an ice cream bar. Very 50s and 60s themed.
This is 100% not Hutch’s. Hutch’s exterior is much different and does not have side parking on the left of the building like that. Also, Lake Ontario would be right where the radio tower and Ferris wheel are behind that building. Don’t just make shit up.
Such incredible chemistry between these two and in this film specifically. This film is just such a gem, those two/three years when SNL produced hilarious, heartfelt comedies. This, Wayne’s world, Coneheads….
So much packed into just a few minutes that it's amazing. God, my brother and my coworkers and I would quote lines from this back in the 90's and laugh like hyenas. Chris Farley owned this time in history. He was THE king and everybody knew it.
I luv when he delivers the line, And I massage it... I rented this movie in 7th grade at a sleepover, and still till this day 23 yrs later I laugh the same way, with the same intensity.
Roseanne was originally going to play the waitress. Tom Arnold was Chris's AA sponsor and Chris had stayed with Tom and Rosie in L.A. when he appeared in Tom's HBO special and in a cameo on Roseanne as a customer in a secondhand clothes store.
This scene is right after Spade hits Farley with the 2x4 and I always start laughing when this scene starts with the Laurel and Hardy sheepish looks while “I’m Sorry” plays in the background
So many lines in this movie that have literally shaped my life. Damnit Farley, you left us too soon! There could have been thousands more famous lines dude. RIP
You know, in some of the quiet scenes in this movie, Chris showed in flashes that he had what it took to be a damn good actor, not just a great comic. It seems like it was something he really wanted to get to do as well and I'm sad that he never got the chance to really try.
Sadly it would've been a huge risk for a studio to put him in a serious role since he's so over the top funny. Jim Carey was able to do it though. So was Adam Sandler. So who knows how things could've been?
@@Kaboomboo Some of the best actors in history started out in comedy, mainly cuz comedy is the hardest form of acting to pull off. Making people laugh is an incredible talent. Tom Hanks for example started out as a comedic actor.
In my opinion, aside from being clearly super funny comedians, I do think that these two are quite capable actors. I always enjoyed their dynamic. I would have loved to have seen more from them. Cheers.
I've been to one of those bars with a friend where you had to be a member to get in, so I'd go with him and he'd get me in as a guest. Well they had a kitchen that would close at 9pm. If you were a member there, you could take your kids in with you, sit down at one of the booths to eat dinner, and then leave.

The reactions and facial expressions were spot on in this movie. Perfect directing
And the right editing plays a huge role too.

The waitress was in some Kids in the hall skits & played the gym teacher on Ready or not. I think she's a Canadian actress
