This music was never intended for ear buds or headphones, you need a stereo with big speakers and a big amp. You can literally feel the music pound thru ya. If pictures don't fall off the wall it aint load enough. It should also make bell bottom jeans move.
Either this or a open highway on a summer night in the middle of nowhere
That way
I agree and NOTHING beats Live!
As I stroll down memory lane here, you remind me why, at 65,I’m a candidate for hearing aids… and I’d do it all again🫶🏻
ZZ Top is a national treasure. ❤
Studio track is so tight and polished it blows the live out of the water. I would have loved to see them playing a bar on the way up to fame. It would have been amazing
Tres Hombres is my favorite album and the famously linked songs "Waitin for the bus & Jesus just left Chicago" are their pinnacle IMO.
This would be a blues song you were looking for. I first saw these boys at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin during the early 70’s.
Got that album on orignal vinel LP
Fantastic group. RIP Dusty Hill - the group will never be the same without your chugging bass-lines!
You want to hear ZZ Top Blues? Check out the song Blue Jean Blues it's pretty much the ultimate
Yup! Best ZZ Top song. One of the best blues songs ever.
Fact: The song was out for 42 years before ZZ Top finally played "La Grange" in La Grange. 2015. They're not bad for just being three boys from Texas. They were the best in concerts.
I don't have telegram😏
Billy Gibbons is one of Jimi Hendrix favorite guitar players.
This is them in their later years they gotta be in their 70s at least here. You need to listen to the earlier version when his voice was stronger. Still sounding good no lie, but check out the earlier vids and albums. They are a fantastic band for sure. And at almost 62 myself now, I am a born and raised Texan my whole life, never lived anywhere else, and we are very proud of this band!
Yes, you need to watch videos when they had younger knees and moved all over the stage 🙂
You have found your way into pure blues rock at it's finest, enjoy the ride and keep reacting to all their music!!
Sharp dressed man next!!
BUT “official video”! 😁
Yes!
My fave ZZ Top song. It's actually my ring tone LOL
Love it❤ Sharp dressed man is another great song.
I totally agree with you
Dripping in Blues you say, well you've found the right band Salvo! Some jammn ZZ blues tunes are: Blue Jean Blues or Waitin for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago - that'll get you started on this rabbit hole.
That two-fer from Tres Hombres is amazing, they blew us away when we saw them the first of many times on that album tour. Great band!
Those two songs just drip with the Blues! Ear Candy for sure!
Lucky you- you got to see ZZ live.@@vicprovost2561
This kind of Blues, what's called Texas Blues, has it's roots with T Bone Walker. He is the Godfather of 12 bar Blues with an electric guitar solo.
You need the studio version...it's a lot tighter.
Saw them in ‘76!! Hearing has not been the same since!! They were awesome!!🤘🔥
SRV-"Tightrope" Austin City Limits,1989
A legal brothel called The Chicken Ranch was outside of LaGrange TX. Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds starred in a movie called The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, based on The Ranch.
Um…you meant to type Whorehouse…not Whitehouse! 😂
@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 🤣 thx! Corrected the autocorrect!! Tried 3x on original, thought I beat it! Not! 🤣
Oh HELL, yeah! One of my favorite concerts…..danced my derrière off! 😁🤘
Nice, they are one killer band from album #1 in 1971, they have a ton of great songs to hear, one of many is Cheap Sun Glasses, it has a incredible groove and was quite a jam in concert. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎶
That Lil Ole Band from Texas! I've seen them 5 times in concert. They are so much fun! Dive in and you won't regret a single moment! Just make sure you have your dancing shoes on!
Hi Salvo. Love your reactions! I'm jonesin for some more of your rush reactions. I must have watched your RUSH reactions 2 dozen times, of course I'm a RUSH fan. Freewill was the best reaction I've ever seen. Makes me smile every time. There's so much more RUSH for you to behold and I'm literally getting old. Watching you get through their catalog is on my bucket list. Time is a tickin, please help.
This performance is from 2019, so a fair bit of time for the boys to mellow a bit - the original recording (stay away from the horrible remaster they did in the eighties when they released the material on CD) is a bit better in my opinion with a more biting guitar over the riff that the studio allowed them to keep constant.
Can’t believe this is your first ZZ Top!
If you watch Back to the Future 3, you see ZZ Top was playing at the square dance.
A great example of their beginnings in the 70's. When MTV hit the air waves their videos became some of the most aired. The music changed slightly in the MTV years but always kept the blues based sound. Another great song from the Tres Homres album would be Waitin On The Bus / Jesus Just Left Chicago.
Pre 80's ZZ Top is some of the best rock music ever.
Tres Hombres was huge in here in PNW.
Recommend listening to the album version. Tight, punchy, bluesy.
Absolutely. I first heard them when they had hits Gimme All Your Lovin and Sharpeddressed Man. Which were great but when I looked at their earlier stuff … wow. I immediately knew they were one of my favourite bands.
The groove of the song is based on a traditional boogie blues rhythm used by John Lee Hooker in "Boogie Chillen'", here he is playing it with Eric Clapton and the Rolling Stones in 1989: ua-cam.com/video/o4jo6tmMr9s/v-deo.html
Thanks for that. Hadn't seen it.
they are so great live. A lot of fun and you can tell they played together forever and it showed on stage. Miss Dusty, RIP.
Absolute Class Act!!
Blue Jean Blues or Hot, Blue and Righteous among many others
Some context for the lyrics to this song, LaGrange is location of The Best Little Whore House In Texas
I saw them in concert at Joe Louis Arena back in the 80's, still have the T-Shirt. They did do a Rock ballad "Rough Boy" and a blues song "Blue Jean Blues".
Check out the Heartbeats-A Thousand Miles Away-classic doo wop!!
Every time I've seen them live they did LaGrange and Tush and Tush would start right up at the end. Check out Tush and you see they were made to be played together. They talk about their first concert and one guy was there. They played for him and know him still today. Love to have there!
I was lucky enough to see them in the 70s, 80s, 90s and in 2004. I think 5 or 6 times total. One of my favorite bands.
Good stuff...raw and dirty and just plain good
The song is about the "Chicken Ranch," The subject of the Broadway musical and movie, "Best Little Whorehous in Texas."
ZZ Top is on my concert bucket list! I'm a bit bummed I never got to see their original lineup with Dusty Hill, but per Dusty's wishes, the band's longtime guitar tech took over the bass guitar duties. I pray I get to see them in concert before Billy passes. What a legendary, badass band!
My very first concert, October 1983, Houston, TX... ZZ Top with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - Eliminator Tour!
Early recordings/performances are by far the best.
You have got to listen to “legs”. Love this band and their awesome music. RIP Dusty.
Just saw them on October 30th in San Antonio. Elwood Francis on bass, replacing the late Dusty Hill. They can still rock it!
Texas Blues is the best and ZZ TOPP are our Ambassadors to the world of Music! Along with SRV, Freddy King, Albert King and many others. First saw this little old band from Texas in Houston 1969.
Never saw this live version. Thanks for reacting.
I saw them in concert years back in Huntsville Al. They were great and later years we had a local band named Hot Rod Oasis they sounded a lot like them played local bars.
"Blue Jean Blues ", "Waiting for the Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago"...and let's not forget "Tube Snake Boogie"
I’ve seen them 3-4 times, the last time in late 00’s. Like 2008-2009. Cheap trick opened and was was awesome as well.
The song is about the bordello known as the Chicken Ranch. Dolly Pardon & Burt Reynolds did a movie about it. R.I.P Dusty Hill.
IMO, Blue Bean Blues is ZZ Top in full out "Blues Mode". give it a listen. Its short but so worth the listen. Love that Lil Ole Band from Texas.
Can you imagine doing what you love for 50 years with your friends. We should be so blessed.
They played Little Cypress Mauriceville High School's senior prom in 1972 I think it was. Their star had just started to rise, but they had signed the contract to play the prom months before and couldn't get out of it. LCM is in Mauriceville, Texas. A tiny little town just outside Orange, Texas.
This a bout a brothel outside La Grange , Texas that opened in 1921 & finally burned down in the '80s. True story.Do "Pearl Necklace"!
Billy Gibbons played at Warren Haynes last Christmas jam. He's still got it.
Blue jean blues is a great ripper.lots of good stuff coming from three guys
Just jump IN! Every aspect of your future, past and present will vastly improve. It's just the blues on rock steroids!
Check out "ROUGH BOY" great vocals Billy Gibbons great guitar playing you won't be disappointed.
They tour constantly. This is another one that if you get the chance, Salvo, you should definitely see them ! GREAT in concert!
Frank Beard, the drummer, is the one without a beard!
Irony.
That Little Ol'e Band From Texas put down some great tunes.
I grew up in Houston when ZZ Top first came out and they were popular from the get go as the up and coming new local band. They got a lot of airplay with early hits like "Somebody Else's Been Shaking Your Tree" and "Francine". The iconic riff in La Grange is eerily similar to (wink wink) an earlier song by Canned Heat called "Refried Boogie", which was taken from an old John Lee Hooker song. The early stuff is their best work, altho Gibbons solo work is really good. The movie "Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds was based largely on this song and eventually became a popular stage musical. They're a legendary, one of a kind band with a sound unlike any other.
Check out their song "Cheap Sunglasses". More of the same blues-rock feel, and such a fun, unique song!
You can never go wrong with ZZ Top, but please also check out Boogie Chillen by John Lee Hooker backed by Canned Heat.
They're making some of the best music ever and they don't even look like they're trying.
Same three guys, same three chords, for 50+ years. Best little three piece band in Texas. RIP Dusty.
Three guys from Texas playing great blues/rock. One of my favorites from their Tres Hombres album is 'Have You Heard'. Fantastic blues with a touch of Gospel. Check it out if you can. You won't be disappointed.
A fine example of the blues you are looking for is "Blue Jean Blues" on the Fandango album....
OH ONE MORE THING, JIMI HENDRIX SAID BILLY GIBBONS WAS A IDOL OF HIS!!!
Love your work. And I gotta tell that people who like me grew up in this
era from 1978 and on, know how tough the music competition was. It took alot sometimes for a great song to move up the charts and send the hits above it below them. As Casey would say, "moving up 3 notches to number 1"...I'm sure the artists "dropping" a notch or more would just cringe a minute or two..omg...Great times, and with now a 46 year old catalog to jam too, life is great..dj. Tommy Walker, Terre Haute, Indiana
Listen and watch them live from the late 70s and 80s. Killer serious and yet funny too.
La Grange has the best hook I've ever heard
I can only say yes. You need to open that worm hole. Bad ass!
Their driving beat is perfect for highway drving
I've seen them live several times and brilliant every single time!! Get some thing live!!
Tush is my favorite ZZ Top song. PLEASE react to that next.
Saw ZZ TOP, BOB SEGER OPENED FOR ZZ AND BOB SAID THAT HE WASN'T GOING TO PLAY LONG BECAUSE HE WANTED TO WATCH ZZ TOP TOO!! 🎸🔥😍🐐
You want the blues side of ZZ Top, try Waiting For The Bus/Jesus Just Left Chicago (these two tracks always need to be played together) from Tres Hombres!
Coolest band ever
A masterclass in rock ❤
This definitely rocks, but you should check out the studio version or one from when they were in their prime. One of my favorite songs!
Notice the one guy without a beard, is named Beard!
That WAS blues. Straight up. Can you say John Lee Hooker?
They are like almost 80 here
For years, I did not get ZZ Top. I could tell they were all at least competent with their chosen instruments, but it did not pull any of my strings. "La Grange", in particular did not seem to be about anything or go anywhere. Then, one day, I was listening to "La Grange" by ZZ Top - pretty much by accident - and I listened to the introduction and heard - properly heard - the drum link between the intro and the first verse and my brain froze. "Whoa! What the mother-loving syncopated syncopation was THAT???!!!" (I confess I am a complete sucker for a drummer who does not just count to 4.)
In that instant, I became a fan.
I saw them in concert three times and they rocked the house! I was in their fan club in the 90’s and the saved all the tickets for their fan club members to purchase. I was second row, center stage twice. You’ll love exploring their music! Check out the song Rhythmeen. It’s drippy blues!
La Grange is french for The Barn ! 😎La Grange, Kentucky !
Ironic that the one member of the band who did not have a beard was the drummer Frank Beard.
Zz Top and CCR!! Texas strong!
With such a long career, you know they have a huge catalog to go through. Among the favorites are "Jesus Just Left Chicago" and "Cheap Sun Glasses". I could not possibly list all the things you should check out by them.
I think that it's funny that the only one without a beard is the drummer and his last name is Beard
ZZ TOP were solid
They're awesome live, saw them twice, extremely entertaining and great sound. You should check their main singles official videos becuase they're iconic and you'll udnerstand why the wiki article mentioned sly and humourous lyrics. They're video have that vibe too. They're also quite versatile, even if the Texas blues influence always remains in their music. Some slower songs, some more rocking, classic blues, etc. "Waitin for the bus / Jesus just left Chicago" (must listen, a classic blues song), "Sharp Dressed Man", "Rough Boy", "Gimme All Your Lovin", "Gotsta Get Paid". Plenty of hits to choose from.
For straight up blues go to "Blue Jean Blues"
Great version, never seen it before!!!
More ZZ Top....Tush, Waiting for the bus/Jesus just left Chicago, Cheap Sunglasses,Blue Jeans Blues,Tube Snake Boogie, I'm Bad I'm Nationwide, Pearl Necklace, Mexican Blackbird, I Gotsa got Paid, Just got Paid, Rough Boy, Got me Under Pressure....and many more!
I 2nd Tush and Mexican Blackbird
Founders of Texas Blues!
Billy Gibbons, the epitome of cool... RIP Dusty..
And, the ironically named Frank Beard on drums, the only band member without a beard.
Waitin' on the bus/Jesus just left Chicago is my recommendation. Good stuff. As always, nice reaction my friend.
Listen to " Sharp Dressed Man." They are in a league of their own. My music generation. 😊
Love me some ZZ Top! Listen to Well Dressed Man!!
