Pure Texas royalty. Billy Gibbons on lead guitar, Dusty Hill on Bass, may he rest in perfect peace and Frank Beard, the only one without a beard, on drums. They called themselves a little ol Boogie Band from Texas.
Also, their whole "Deguelo" album is fantastic!
the Biggest Little Band from Texas
Little ol band from Texas
Fun fact: Degüello is a word you may run into in your high school Spanish class- it's one of a handful of words that use an umlaut over the u, meaning it's pronounced separately- (day-GWAY-yo), and it means "slashing a throat" (hence the skull on the album) and something done "a degüello" is done without mercy.
I believe this is the album that has a band photo on the inner sleeve that is the only photo of Frank Beard with a beard. Billy talked about it in a recent interview.
@@estoy1001 one of the high schools in my hometown would use El Deguello as their motto. I’m 52 now so it’s tough to remember but I believe one year they had it on their helmets and down the side of their game pants. The players would definitely put it on wrist bands and towels. Lawton High Wolverines. Pretty cool !!
Sadly Dusty Hill passed away in 2021. They were a fantastic band to see live - always had to take my cheap sunglasses!!
I was so fortunate to see ZZ Top as my first concert when I was a kid in the late 80s. I still remember they had conveyer belts on stage they would slide on.
Yes so sad. They played here in Louisville at a park and that was Dusty’s last show !! So sad.
ZZ Top is still touring! At Dusty's request, their guitar tech, Elwood Francis, took over on bass.
@@christopherayers4416 I ain' e'n hear that! Dusty was a sweet soul. ❤ Also, if anyone gon' come into ZZ Top, man named "Elwood" sound about right 😄
Waitin' For The Bus - Jesus Just Left Chicago, listed as two songs on the album but to truly appreciate their talent you MUST let them play as one song.
This would be a great reaction video
Yes, this!
Those songs weren't on 'DeGuello'; they were on 'Tres Hombres' released 6 years b4 'DeGuello'.
@@JoeVideoed Nowhere in my comment did I state that the songs were on DeGuello.
They still tour.. original bassist/ vocalist Dusty Hill passed away 2 years ago
Dusty the bassist passed away less than two years ago. Before that, zztop was the longest running band with nothing but their original members, without breaking up or members leaving or coming back, since formed in 69.
This whole album is gold. If you haven't reacted to "I'm Just a Fool For Your Stockings" off the same album, you should put it on your list.
Or the Isaac Hayes cover...
@@brightnessfalls"I Thank You" another great tune!
My favorite ZZ Top song.
A couple of my favorite ZZ Top songs are "I Just Got Paid" and "Jesus Left Chicago". I got to finally see them in concert a couple of years ago. Sadly it was a couple of weeks after Dusty passed. It was still a great show.
Gotta play “Waitin’ for the Bus” before “Jesus Just Left Chicago” if they do though. Can’t have one without the other!
Yes!!! Just Got Paid!!!!!
You need to do some _early_ ZZ Top. That's the ZZ Top I grew up on. REAL blues based rock. "Just Got Paid", "Blue Jean Blues", "Chevrolet", "Brown Sugar", "Bedroom Thang", "Mushmouth Shoutin'", "Goin' Dowm To Mexico" "Ko Ko Blue", "Certified Blues"...
That drum groove in bedroom thang is legendary
Seeing ZZ perform this song live is one of my favorite concert experiences ever. Talking about chest thumpin bass groove from way down in boogie town.
So many ZZ Top tunes are awesome late-night driving songs... Windows cracked, bass cranked.
Hell yeah.
I forgot how friggin funky this song is!!! Excellent reaction.
You could really get the wrong idea about ZZ Top just from the biggest hits. Sharp Dressed Man and Give me all Your Lovin’ are great little bops, but like… not serious. But damn when you dive deeper into their stuff, they’re so good.
Several years back I took my mom to the Atlanta Airport and while we were grabbing a bite to eat before her flight I spotted Billy Gibbons and turned out he was on the same flight. She got to talk to him for a few mins before boarding. We are both fans. Mom is now 84 and her favorite ZZ Top song is Sharp Dressed Man 😊
COOLNESS!!
I heard They asked Hendrix if there was any guitarist that was out that he liked and he said there’s these cats down in Texas named ZZ Top, and they opened for him on some shows and got to hang with Jimmy. ZZ Top is a Three piece group. The bassist passed a little while back, but I was lucky enough to see the 50th year an. Tour before he passed. Back in the 80s you couldn’t get a ticket to a stadium concert for under 400 a ticket, unheard of back then. Love y’all’s channel 🤘❤️
Hendrix also said in an interview that Terry Kath from Chicago was the best guitarist in the universe. It is a damn shame that Jimi and Terry were both lost waaaaaaay too soon!!!
Next ZZ: I’m Bad, I’m Nationwide
Yes!! This!!
Great reaction! Do Waitin' for the Bus / Jesus Just Left Chicago next. You will love it! :)
My dad saw them once and said the bass shook the white off his bones. Became a lifetime fan after seeing one show. Legends \m/
Billy can still bring it...better than ever the last time I saw them!!! It was pretty soon after Dusty passed, but Billy is just a force of nature....one of my favorite guitarists
Clicked so fast!! ZZ Top is such a great band to go back to!
Love this album. We always called ZZ Top Texas boogie music.
ZZ Top was my first concert. It was amazing. Life long fan here
I saw ZZ Top about 10 years ago when they did a free show at Indianapolis Motor Speedway before the Indy 500. One of the greatest shows I've ever been too. As old dudes these guys had the entire crowd full of all ages rocking out to hit after hit. Just relentless. And I'm a young guy (30).
As a youngster this is the 3rd song my drum teacher helped me learned to play..it's not as easy as it sounds keeping that dirt shuffle groove while pulling of some of those funky fills...Fun music fact: The only member of ZZ Top that didn't have a beard was in fact named Frank BEARD Lol...He's the drummer 🧐🤘✌️
Saw them about a month ago. 2 hrs straight, no breaks, all hits. Fantastic show!!! Highly recommended. Their bassist died a bit more than a year ago, but their replacement is every bit as good.
I saw them recently too. 😀
You're delusional , Dusty is irreplaceable!
@@mikeg.9238 Yes, but no.
Hard to go see a three piece after a member dies.
The replacement was their guitar tech for a million years or something, so it was as seamless as it could be.
The first six albums from ZZ Top is pure fire. And this one is near the top.
Are* Plural.
I just saw them in South Texas a couple of months ago. Bassist and all-around bad-ass, Dusty Hill has left the building. (RIP) The new bass player can certainly play the bass, but Dusty's vocals were sorely missed. Although Billy Gibbons sings the majority of the songs, Dusty sang many of their greatest tunes. The hardcore fans noticed. Most casual fans there had no idea that they were watching a replacement band member. If you're interested in a more stripped-down, slower-paced Bluesy number from the Lil Ole Band from Texas, try Blue Jean Blues or A Fool for Your Stockings.
Thanks for revisiting the Mighty ZZ Top, guys!
There are probably 20 ZZ Top songs you could react to that you would love.
how you guys can like Cheap Sunglasses but not like La Grange is beyond me... give La Grange another listen, now that you get their style and vibe! Both songs are just KILLER.
I love La Grange. I agree.
Stunned to hear they didn't dig La Grange! That's like hating puppies and ice cream! Yeah, the guys need to do a repeat listen.
The deeper vocals probably threw them off but they're only on the first minute and a half, anyway
Shuffles are an acquired taste. Took me a while to not equate shuffles with every shitty bar band hacking up the blues.
Back in the 80s when i was a kid and saw ZZ Top and Legs and Sharp Dressed Man, I thought they were a joke kind of band. Little did I know what they were really like! I was happily shocked.
Isn't this a perfect song? I saw them shortly after this album came out, and could not believe the solid wall of sound coming from 3 people. RIP, Dusty.
ZZ TOP RULES! Saw one Of Dusty Hill's last performances here in Louisville Kentucky. And don't forget, these guys once opened for Jimi Hendrix. Peace!
I met Dusty Hill in the 90s & got to talk to him for around 30-ish minutes. My dad's company shared a skybox with them in the Astrodome & it was an Oiler's game. He was really cool.
Nicely played Guys 👍👍 Dusty's guitar tech who had been with him forever, has step in to try and fill his shoes... and doing a fine job of it! Spread the love 🐶😎🇺🇸
ZZ seems to be an underrated or overlooked 3 Man bad. Texas put out 3 killer groups. ZZTop, Stevie Ray Vaughan (and Jimmy Vaughan), along with Edgar and Johnny Winter.
When CD's just became a new thing, this album was my first purchase. Legendary. Cheers from Texas Y'all
My uncle was an executive for that record label and one year, for Christmas, he asked us what albums we wanted. Deguello, was one of mine! Love it!
Dusty Hill the bass player passed away in 2021. I saw them last summer in Pittsburgh and it was a great show!
That bass @4:47 is rollin. And the MAD GENIUS who added the 'wooowoowooooo's'...cappin!
The Sword (you reacted to Freya by them) does a great rendition of this track. Really good!
Thank you!
These guys are good live 😊
I saw them live about a year ago. My dad was always a huge fan, and would always go to every concert that came close to him. I understand why. This was a state fair show, and they absolutely killed it. Unfortunately it was after Dusty passed. This is Texas rock. Heavy blues influence. Billy Gibbons is the guitarist that guitar icons look up to. The Ole Boy still kills it like he’s in his 20’s!
Ears still ringing from ZZTOP Concert New Year Eve 1981 , thanks Guys!, congrats on your Stanley Cup!
Seen them in the 70s.Have seen basically everyone. And ZZ top and heart where the best live I have seen. 🤘
Love zz top especially their older stuff. Thanks for the reaction.
I grew up on ZZ Top, in the 70’s. My older sister’s boyfriend was a huge fan. That era of ZZ Top was the best for me. Raw groove and soul.
Fun fact: Billy Gibbons gifted Stevie Ray Vaughan his signature Hamiltone guitar. It was given to him during a show Stevie performed at the University of Buffalo in my hometown.
“Oh Yeah!” LOVE the grit in every song ZZ Top does ❤🕶️🔥
This is my favorite ZZ Top song. It takes me back to riding in my busted old Ranger to my crappy Customer Service job at the call center. No radio in the truck, so I had one of those stick MP3 players that held like 8GB. Listened to this song so much. Man I loved that bass and drum work. The last little solo toooo....
Wasn’t Capital One, was it?

One of the best blues rock songs ever
ZZ Top just have a groove that not many other bands do. Clutch also has that groove. Theyre both fucking amazing.
love their songs Rough Boys, Sleeping Bag, and Velcro Fly
Favourite ZZ tune. Super deep and dirty pocket!!! Always at the top of my playlists!
To me, this is peak ZZ. Great song, even better album!
Fantastic album. One of the first I ever bought around 1981-82.
Great brutal satanic death metal
This one brings back some memories. Iconic, classic ZZ Top from the old days. Great reaction to a great song.
Dusty Hill passed away a couple of years ago, but they're touring with his long-time tech as bassist.
I got to see them last year at a tiny casino hotel near Sacramento, this was the closer, Zz has so many 70's kid stoner anthems, one of those life long memory soundtrack songs, such a groove 😎
This song is one of their best. I saw ZZ Top on tour in Dallas, Summer 2019 with Bad Company. Both bands were phenomenal. R.I.P. Dusty Hill.
Cheap Sunglasses is a great example of why the 70's was the best decade for music.
I saw ZZ Top in a bar in 1975. I was amazed that 3 guys sounded so good.
RIP Dusty. He once said the sound of his bass sounds like farting into a trash can. He sang lead on some of their songs, Tush being the most popular. Great three piece rock/blues/soul band. They have some really good live shows out on video from when Dusty was still alive.
TUSH
PROBABLY THEIR MOST RECOGNIZED SONG AND DEFINITELY 1 OF THEIR BEST
“Just Got Paid.”
You’re gonna love that one.
R.I.P. Dusty
Still my favorite ZZ Top song. It really stands above.
Clutch also covered their song “I Just Got Paid” for record store day several years back.
SOME BANDS HAVE THEIR OWN UNIQUE GENRE, A COMBINATION OF TEXAS ROCK, RHYTHM & BLUES, FUNKY AND GREAT TO DANCE TO!!!!!👍👍👍👍😎
Rest easy Dusty Hill 💪🏾Texas Legends
I love when Ryan and George are air drumming.
Seen them 5 times. All great shows. RIP Dusty.
How can you not love this groove? Classic!
Zz top was the first rock band I got into back in the early 80s after growing up on all country
Appearing tonight in Vegas MAY4
Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort Las Vegas, NV
Zz top absolute incredibly, a beast of a band, gibbons second to none
The last time I saw The Top was not too long after Dusty passed and a few weeks before their opening act (and my favorite guitarist) Jeff Beck exited life's Freeway Jam. Dusty and brother Rocky are finally jamming together again....
I just saw them live a month ago. Billy is old now and the fingers aren't quite so nimble but the spirit of the band is alive and the new bassist brings some "youthful" energy, as it were. In Texas, the crowd is about as enjoyable as the band. It's an experience. Hey, love you guys channel. I started following you when you had around 50k. Congrats on the success! Freethinkers!
Saw them, with Dusty, at the Houston Rodeo a few years ago. They still rocked, and had NRG stadium swaying. They just keep it tasty and simple, and jammmmm!!
Don't know if anyone else mentioned it but one of my favorites is Blue Jean Blues by ZZ Top. I think you guys would like it.
Bass guitarist Dusty Hill passed away in 2021. ZZ Top had been playing together for 50 years. As they say, "the show must go on", so Dusty's long-time guitar tech has stepped in to take over on bass guitar. Yes, that Lil' Ol' Band From Texas is still touring and age ain't slowed nobody down!!&! 😎
The bassist Dusty Hill sadly passed recently a few years ago. This is one of my favorite albums. the whole thing just rocks with in and out rhythms jamming. so amazing. one of my biggest influences on guitar, Billy Gibbons.
Listen to Precious and Grace by ZZ Top. Clutch covered it recently and have used lyrical patterns from that song in Eight Times Over Miss October from the classic Elephant Riders album. Clutch made me appreciate ZZ Top 1000% more than I used to.
Precious and Grace, top 10 ZZ Top songs for me, great track!
I love zz
Since 1971
Good concerts and great opening bands!
I went up to Regina, Saskatchewan to see them last year. It was their first tour with former guitar tech Elwood Francis on bass, after Dusty Hill passed away. They still sounded great!
I remember listening to this song while smoking a joint on the job with my friend, the late Quay Rice, at 5:00 am in 1991.
I've been to 7 of rheir concerts. Best shows ever!! RIP Dusty.
Seeing them live for the first time years ago when they came out guitars jamming and strutting side by side with the beards flowing is a memory I'll never forget. RIP Dusty
I saw them live a few months before Dusty passed. It was an awesome concert and I'm glad I got the opportunity to see them.
Great reaction guys! Fave album when I was 16, 17! I'm old! Great album to drum to! God Bless!
Ya'll would love the funky groove of "JUST GOT PAID", also.
I've been digging deep on some 70's ZZ Top. Man, there's so many great songs that got overlooked. El Diablo, Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell, Ten Dollar Man. I would recommend listening to their entire catalog from the 70's, and don't skip any tracks.
I've always liked Blue Jean Blues myself.
ZZ Top has swag for DAYS!!!!!!!
ZZ Top is 1 of the VERY FEW bands, especially with longevity, to be all original members on every album. Sadly, Dusty Hill passed away (May 19, 1949 - July 28, 2021). He played bass, keys, sang lead and backing vocals.
ZZ Top is blues based rock n roll. All time great band for me.
I'm a 70's baby. I spent many a night trying to fall asleep while my parents partied to Zztop. #sogood✌️💜✨
Bass player Dusty Hill passed a couple of years ago, but Guitar and vocals Billy Gibbons and drummer Frank Beard (the only one that didn't grow a beard) are still alive. "Mexican Blackbird" is great, as is "Blue Jean Blues." Unbelievable. Saw ZZ Topp in 1977 in Seattle, and they were just like they sound on their records. Live cattle, Buzzards and other animals on stage as they played. Maybe the best concert I ever saw, and I have seen plenty. Billy Gibbons and Jimi Hendrix friendship is a great story.
Love this song and reaction guys!! ZZ Top has so many hits and such a distinctive sound 🎶Thanks so much for posting!
yes they are still touring. their bassist, Dusty Hill, passed away last year, but their backup is doing good. they been playing for over 50 years
The drummer’s name is Frank Beard…the only member of ZZ Top that didn’t have a beard!
Just saw them in April and as old as they are...mid 70s they rocked it out!!!
LITTLE FEAT! Spanish Moon, or Skin it Back. Gonna love it! I GUARANTEE!
I love me some ZZ TOP,. This is fav album not 1 bad track, every one is smoking hot
Man I love this whole album these dude the coolest slickest trio of all time. That bass tho!
"Sharp dressed man" is instant classic.
ZZ Top is a band that id probably never list in my top 5 favs of all time, but goddamn when im jamming ZZ Top there is no fucking band better.
