The work that’s been done is amazing! The work that needs to be done looks daunting. I’m sure with your family’s care and love of restoring it will be a beautiful house once more.
Love the parlor. The dinning room is gorgeous 🥰 I really like the wallpaper. The bathroom is coming along nicely. I agree the bedroom is very nice. Bedroom 1 is a good size room. The library is perfect ☺️. I love the diamond window, the 5th and 4th bedrooms are very nice too. A bathroom would be perfect. This is truly a Grand house, happy you're all working hard to restore it.❤
Thanks for the overview. Looking good. Cannot believe how much you have done. Have you ever counted the doors? You are so fortunate to have the basement workshop. Kudos to you all. H
Thanks so much. We have not counted the doors. We have removed a few that were part of the duplex rehab in the 1940s. We know where the pocket doors must have been, but sadly, they're not there...
Wow! Thanks for the tour! You have made so much progress! Well done! Never heard of a Pittsburgh toilet before. What does that mean? I see our intro lady’s painting upstairs. Should she not be in the parlour? I’ve forgotten her story… you did tell me in a previous video but I cannot seem to locate that comment. Love, love, love everything you have done so far! Kudos!
Well, you asked for one! The 'Pittsburg Potty' is just a toilet in the basement. They're not uncommon in the midwest, but they seem to be all over this part of Appalachia. There are several explanations for them. Most likely: If there's a backup in the drains, fixtures in the basement will overflow first, possibly preventing a problem in the house. Also, coal miners and steel workers in the area would come home, go in the basement door, and cleanup before entering the nicer parts of the house The painting of the lady is la Belle Hamilton. This is a print that was given to us by a descendent of the original owners of the house. She thought it had once hung in the house and should go back. We'll find the right place for it, once we start hanging things on the walls. Plaster can be difficult to secure things to, and we haven't added any picture rails yet. :)
@@ChaplineHouse ahhh the Pittsburgh potty! There should be one in every house! Here in Australia we rarely have basements though on my Mum and Dads’ farm as well as aunty Dorrie and Uncle Reg’s farm there was a place to clean up before coming inside. It will be lovely to see Lady Hamilton hanging one day although I do understand (about the plaster). Do you intend to have picture rails throughout the house? Those stairs are going to be a treat! Again, thank you! Love from Mez! South Australia 🇦🇺
@@ChaplineHouse it does “fit” there, but I think it makes that side of the room look crowded. The focal point of that wall should be the fireplace. That’s just my opinion.
Very lovely!

You are doing such a nice job with this home. It is a treat to see your work.
Glad you enjoy it!
Thank you for sharing this is going to be a gorgeous home. All the hard work is paying off. Something to be proud off. May God bless y'all 🙏👵
Thank you. It is paying off, but progress can seem slow at times!
Looking good! 😊
Thank you! Cheers!
The dinning room is so beautiful everytime I see the wallpaper I just can't believe how stunning it is

The are salvage places that have pocket doors. I have seen them on UA-cam in the past.
Thanks, we may do that
Opinion: the hutch in the dining room should be on the wall on the other side of the room.
But it fits so well where it is
