This house will be a great renovation once you get started. One thing I’ve learned when doing projects like this is you need to go in with a wheelbarrow, shovel, and dump. Clear each room out 💯 Sorting will take forever and given your availability, you’re adding substantial time sifting through rubble. Have a bin handy for a find that is great but clear the rooms completely instead of leaving anything in it. Keep plugging away!
Oh gosh. I remember my Dad getting me into those heath kits when I was a little girl and helping him check the TV tubes on the tube tester. I'm 77 now and grew up in upstate NY. I remember a friend collecting some sort of dolls similar to what you found even as she got into her 20s. Love seeing old houses from that area.
I grew up with a guy who eventually inherited his dads Leonel train set, he started collecting old tracks, cars, buildings etc. Hes 55 now and has a dedicated corner in his pole barn for the town hes built and the train travels around the barn walls, through covered bridges and fake trees etc. Super cool.
Depending on your budget, Colonial Restoration can do main beam, joist, and floor replace/repair. We used them on our 1840 house in CT - replaced all the rotted beams with various 4x4 and 8x8 oak, it was amazing to witness..They do work in NY, CT, NH, MA, Maine...
Still creeped out by the dolls/videos/comics etc. LOVE the vintage Santa! The cam lens is for 35mm (or for DIY lenses). Did you know that some folks retrofit the old TVs to watch streaming services through the vintage glass? Very coool. AMAZING progress!!
Heathkit was “down the road” in St. Joseph Michigan. As a kid, I was hired by Heathkit to give demonstrations to organizations with a small robot called HERO 1. Fun stuff
If you decide to throw away the TVs, there is a good size chunk of copper in each one's yoke. You can look up how to remove it. Lots of folks repurpose the TV frames into dog kennels.
The fireplace mantels "pushed up against the wall" may have always been that way. In the transition years between using the fp for heat and other newer methods, they kept the idea of a fp for cosmetic reasons. They had a stove in front of them but no firebox or real chimney. I had a couple like that in one of my houses.
If you could get the motor home running maybe you could sell it and use that money for renovation. Just a suggestion😊 it would make a interesting video!
That TV remote looks like it could be a real “clicker”. The remote emitted an ultrasonic sound that was then picked up by the counsel when you pushed down the button, which also made a loud click noise.
Love the video been watching since episode one love the content, not trying to be mean but the music the last two videos I feel like I’m stuck in an 80s video game😂 still love the content and will watch. Keep it up.
There are free apps you can use to identify coins & their metal composition. The pricing on the apps is so-so, but knowing if they are silver or gold lets you know their metal value. If the beads on the Czech Republic rosary are glass, it is worth determining the actual value. Czech glass bead items are very collectible. And they will typically glow under UV/black in a dark room. A thought about the floors--and I'm not there, so I can't tell the actual condition--they appear to be extra wide planks. I bet they were beautiful at one time. You might explore how you can salvage as much as possible. Maybe, you can't match the planks to obtain enough flooring for the whole house either in new wood or old wood from another house.... can you salvage enough for some rooms or maybe repurpose what you salvage to put on a wall, make a piece furniture, or find someone who just needs some flooring.... Too often folks immediately put an entire floor into the landfill because they can't salvage it all. As a person who collects & uses salvaged wood, salvaging it is definitely not the easiest choice. However, the old growth wood they used to use is so much better than the short growth wood we build with today.
Please reuse the floor boards! They are so hard to find nowadays and can't be recreated with the old growth wood. Also don't be discouraged with wavy floors, it's normal (to an extent) for a house of that age. My house is 1790 and none of the floors are level lol
Brogan was a painter of portraits, he won Artist of the Year in December of 2024 for his portrait of Lorraine Kelly; December 16, 2024, so it might be worth something!!!
That was the story I got from the previous owner. I need to research it, any suggestions on land ownership in the late 1700’s would be appreciated? I was thinking library of congress
@Goodmans_FR That's an excellent source, I would think. I looked around a bit already, but found nothing specific to that. Good luck with the project. Really enjoying it.

Had old house in honeoye falls ny, removed old floor down to sub floor. Redid the floors and used oriental rugs.

It is funny how people collect things they think will increase value and years later all it is, is a bunch of stuff. You guys are working so hard!
I have that same Santa i can remember when i was a kid i have 2 of those it from the 50's which is way older them me im gen X. they have value
This will be such a nice place when you get it all fixed up. You sure are hard workers, and it doesn't look easy.
Starting to look like a nice place again

I love the room your working on. All the windows and natural light😍
My dad was into Heathkit, built our first color TV! Wish they were still around.
Please check out the Robbins Hunter museum house in Granville Ohio ……it might show you what the house looked like when it was new . Thank you

Yes, do investigate that cardboard photo. I used to know stuff about them but it was too long ago and I didn't have any.
Anything Camodore can be sold on eBay to collectors. I've sold on eBay since 1991. Pre-owned working or for replacement parts.
the Amdek and Commodore montiors are worth saving.
My dad sold those console TVs. Also, regarding the Commodore, there are still fan clubs out there.

I wonder if the ceiling has been lowered. The molding around the windows is beautiful but really close to the ceiling.
I don't envy you the clean out. Be more interesting when it's all clear and you're moving on to the necessary structural demo, redesign & reno.
The Commodore monitor and a working old portable TV can be sold to vintage computer gamers. They're probably an easy sell if they work.
And even if they don't you might be able to give them away.
I think we had all of those TVs when I was a kid in the 70s.

Id get the chimneys checked and repaired and put those wood burning stoves to use.
Rick Brogan print I think
Those tvs and those monitors are collectible people will pay good money for them
Thank you for sharing …….I believe that some Greek Revival houses had faux fireplaces …..for whatever reason.
Interesting!

I think the couple on cardboard is very romantic and you could get it restored.
Agreed, it will go on a wall someday
The dolls are lovely love them was previous owner asian or have asian wife? Not native but asian.
I seem to remember the previous owner spent a lot of time in Asia.

Pink milk glass can fetch good money to a collector
When was the Buchan house last lived in?

I would have cleaned that chimney and got the woodstove going first day. then just keep throwing everything wood and paper in there.
❤
Did I hear you say in a previous video the Buchans obtained ten square miles when first locating there?

What do you do with the items you found? If we are interested in something, how do we go about getting it?
We might start an eBay store at some point. We will let everyone on here know first if wee do
@@Goodmans_FRoh that would be awesome! New to your channel and loving it!
What part of the country is the house in? I’m guessing back east somewhere based on the exterior?
I found 1 Brogan print for 195 dollars not your but it’s worth looking into
Heathkit tvs were sold as a kit that you had to assemble yourself
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮🎉
