For people having pulling issues I have found that a dog Head collar, or as I call it, a dog bridle, is the most amazing training tool and way to keep your dog under total control in a safe manner. It works on the same principle as a horse's bridle. One loop goes around their snout, one around the high part of their neck, behind the ears. The dog can still eat or drink with it on and once they are used to it, they will be under your total and easy control at all times. No more corrections needed. Making corrections with a flat collar around their neck can cause health issues, especially if they pull hard when they see another animal. They can hurt their trachea, which the flat collar is usually right over. A head collar is probably not safe for puppies as their little necks are not so strong, but any dog 1yr+ is fine. With a head collar/bridle on, the dog corrects themselves if they try to walk out front of you, or pull when walking. Dogs, always walk facing forward and when the head collar causes them to turn their neck when they pull, they return to a perfect heel every time, immediately. It took my Golden Service Dog about 5 minutes to be trained to a perfect heel. After just a couple of walks, I rarely have to use it now, except when out and about in big crowds where she can get excited. Think about it, a 1500 lb horse is only easily kept under control by using a bridle. It is the best tool in my inventory for my Service dog. Walking is so much more enjoyable when the dog is not walking you and tugging you on a tight leash. Loose leash walking should be everyone's goal and a head collar makes that easily possible for any dog, any size. They only cost about $10-$15 to, which is a plus. BTW, it doesn't look like a muzzle either or restrict them like a muzzle does. I urge all dog owners to try one, I promise they will all be amazed at the difference.
