All good points!! Our golden never soiled her crate or pen area. I swear we were always outside saying “go potty!!” We have a female and when she sits it looks like a squat to pee. 😄 lots of false alarms when she was a baby and a lot of me apologizing to her. ❤
My puppy watered the floor only 3 times. First time because he didn't know that's unwelcome. He was trying to help me with towels so while he was following me I just took the wet towel and went to the door, pointing at the towel and the door a few times and just telling him politely that the toilet is outside and I think I left the towel at the door for a while. Next time he went to the door but was just sitting there and eventually gave up because I didn't understand he wants to go outside because he also sleeps there. Third time I didn't see him going there. Now he takes my hand and walks me to the door when he needs it. It's true that they understand everything instantly. Also they understand when you're happy or unhappy with their actions. You need to be quick and polite with reactions.
I'm no expert at all so following what I did to potty train my Hector will be at your own risk lol. But when I first got him I went outside with him for 15-20 minutes every 1 or 2 hours, and when he did the deed, I would praise him for being a good boy and eventually give a small treat. This is something I still do from time to time, but since he is potty trained, it's just occasionally when I see him go pee or poop. However, whenever he would pee inside, I never scolded him. I just ignored him while cleaning up the mess. Even if he wanted to play. My reason for this method is that he would learn it's okay to do what everybody else does naturally by not ever being scolded, and that is more rewarding to go outside.
finally trained my puppy to do his business in the washroom 🥲still accident happens so it’s always best to train your puppy as soon as you bring them home. when they start peeing in the house everywhere it’s gonna get difficult to teach them not to pee everywhere 🫠🫠 *please do not punish or scold them*🥹🥹
Honestly, the most adorable thing about this channel is that all these facts could be applied to pretty much any dog, but here we are just talking about golden retrievers😂 what are other dogs? We don`t know this 😂
Unfortunately,my g/retriever don't do anything which is supposed to do for cleanliness because I didn't trained him well when he was small I regret but I can't back him to his small and lovely precious time.still thn, I love him and love his smell and smile. I accept my mistake, next golden retriever will train super well.
Our puppy is has not completed her vaccinations and we were advised not to go outdoors until she completes her vaccinations. Therefore we are relying on potty pads inside the house for now. Would you have any other comments on this?
No true. Our dogs Dr and Veteran told you can take them out to potty train( not with other dogs) just not for walks. Every dogs owner does it lol. Just NOT for walks.
Hello! I am having big trouble walking my 4,5 month old golden retriever puppy. He's been going out for a 1,5 months now for potty training (since before that he wasn't fully vaccinated and the vet didn't want us to let him out). I let him discover the world, sniffing, tasting, walking wherever he wanted (always on a lead and under supervision of course). He eats anything and everything, each and every leaf on the ground, grass, mud, roots and he likes to chew on sticks, a lot. He lays down to chew, the walk is endless and he ends up doing his business indoors. I thought him the command "stand up" but it only works when he decides he chewed enough on the stick to be curious about the treat, and generally speaking he tries to go back to chewing. I try to make him avoid putting things in his mouth, but I feel like the whole walking experience is getting frustrating for both of us. He doesn't get to do what is fun and I keep saying "no" to everything and pulling on the lead (he is trained to remove focus from things when he hears a "no"). I tried leaving his toys everywhere on the ground, he simply ignores them, sticks are so much fun... I feel like a made a mistake here or am I beeing to strict? I'm out of ideas, advice is very welcome!
Im from India and we live in a apartment. Vet asked us not to take the puppy outdoor until he is 3months old. So I have no option except to teach him to potty on the training pad!
My 10 weeks old puppy is still in the exploration phase and still unsure of himself, little bit scared and gets distracted of all the noises when I am taking him outside. He learned to potty on pads in seconds though.
I took the pads away completely per Veteran adviceed works wonders. He only goes to our backyard. Since he hasn't had his full vaccine yet, 3 more to go...
My golden can’t go potty outside for a month. He needs his full set of shots first. Getting him from a local home breeder and he’s only 9 weeks old. So we need wee wee pads. So now what.

great pointers.. my puppy trained in 3 days.. he was 6 weeks old... he's a smart boy..
Even mine too
I find that hard to believe trained in 3 days. At least 2-3 weeks
@@glow1815 it may be true. It took two days to potty train our border collie.

But I live in Michigan and I have a puppy too cold for outside so I do puppy pads
I thought I was doing wrong by being averse to potty pads. Now I"m super pumped that I don't need them at all lol.

You can take them just to pee and poop. What our veterans advised nothing more until they're fully vaccinated.
Punish your dog if they spoil your home
You have no choice but to use puppy pads until they’ve had their shots and can go outside.
They can go outside in their own garden.
Many dogs don’t even have vaccinations 🤷🏼♀️
Not
