My golden passed the AKC Good Citizen test and listened to every command I gave him whenever he felt like it.

Omg! This was really helpful. I’m the main caregiver to our 8 no old golden. She LOVES disobeying me and things like putting her in her kennel when she need to calm down but now she runs and hides behind my 8yr old daughter. She doesn’t look sad she literally looks like she’s taunting me!😂 She also loves to grab things she’s not suppose to have (or thinks she’s not suppose to have) and she taunts me with whatever that thing is. She does this trot kinda run with perked up ears. If i ignore her she gets closer and closer as she runs past. She’s SUCH a teenager.😂

If the pup is ignoring you and not paying attention to your training, put them on a leash and don’t take it off outside.

@@cj3720 it’s getting better but yes that’s good advice. I think it’s a lot about consistency. Some of it Hass to do with your age, and I can see some of it passing already.

    Great video!
My dog is 13 years old now and is the best boy in the world. He's not a Golden, but I totally remember his teenage stage. Oy, for a while I called him The Devil Dog. He was so bad and ornery. There was a dead frog on the sidewalk and I told him to, "leave it," which was a command he was usually pretty good with. He looked at me, then the frog, then back to me, and then grabbed it in his mouth. The look in his face was pure, "you can't tell me what to do!" 😂😂

Our Golden is a bit of an odd ball. His “teenage” rebellious period was actually from 3.5 to 7 months. He was a little red eye devil who had no off switch unless he’s in training. We couldn’t tell if he was cute because he was just a frustrated blur. He needed a job BAD! He became manageable when we started to take him off-leash to the beach and the forest. At 9 months he was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and put on a strength training workout routine similar to the ones for agility dogs. That’s when the real transformation began. He walked on leash for about an hour early in the morning, another half an hour at around 10. At noon We did his very demanding (mentally and physically) strength training for about 45 mins, followed by stretching and a full body relaxing massage for usually around 15 mins. After a nap, he did his 1.5-2 hr forest adventure before dinner. After that he basically passed out for the rest of the day until the next morning. We did this everyday for over 6 months. He turned into the calmest and the most settled but very athletic dog even before he was 1.5 years old. Now at 6 he is happy either doing nothing or going on hikes all day. It doesn’t matter. The transformation is so incredible we almost forget what a nightmare he was if I didn’t have numerous broken jackets and shirts as reminders. 😅

All my Goldens have been goofballs till they were three. The jumping on everyone to get pets and give kisses is the worst part to get through.

PLEASE do not let your dog to roam off-leash except in specifically designated areas (aka an off-leash dog park). I can't count the number of times I have had dogs jump on me and/or lunge at me, trying to get at my dog. All the while, the owners casually stroll towards me, saying "Come." over and over again as if their dog will magically stop attacking if only they say it 48 times exactly. Your dog will NOT listen to you. Even if they did, if your dog gets into an alteration with a dog passing by, you will usually be held responsible no matter what happened. It pisses me off when my dog and I get attacked because some youtube video told the owner (that is usually their excuse) to let their untrained dog wander around the neighborhood without a leash.

Day three of ownership of an 8 week old 🐶 pup.
Every single toy/purchases you recommended on your website has been a hit. 🤯
The three ring rope; bacon keys 🔑; and goose squeak toy. The leash is high quality too.
I get my crate and pen today.
I literally I’m running to the sidewalk to get it. Without the pen; my life is a shepherd. I mean my goodness these little pups are elusive. 🏎️
    5:1 indoor to outdoor potty ratio. 🤝 🤦‍♀️ 😡
But it’s been the best experience. 😆 tons of laughs, snuggles, and nips.
