@@bschoenborn So it was easy to get in, but the top clips don't appear to be in all the way. Tiny millimeter gap on upper right and left corner of it. Any advice? 14 wrx premium

i picked up my 09' wrx a couple of years ago and the previous owner had replaced the stock head unit with a cheap cd player at some point. I just got this idoing unit in, and I haven't even seen that extra black wire harness you disconnected from your original head unit, now I'm wondering where it is... >.> btw, That random wire with the little box that you held up and said you had no idea what it was looks like its a sim card reader for the unit, it slides open.

What about the ground??
Does the head unit come with a steering wheel control module or is it built into the harness that it comes with? I have a aftermarket unit already but i miss my steering wheel controls. Also does it have something to retain the stock USB port?
The SWC is part of the software in the headunit... its just there, ready to program when you plug it in. Also, yes, you can add the supplied USB ports if you wanted!
How do you attach the stock ground wire? or is it just left hanging?
Does the stock USB port still work once you installed this head unit?

This is nice and all, but one thing that's gonna make the choice for me is, how dimmable is the screen? I have one, not from Idoing, in my forester, and I can't dim it very much, so it's really bright at night. I now have a 2014 wrx hatch that I'm looking to get one for.

at 7:04, that wire is most likely satellite tuner, I have the same box on top, going to remove it tomorrow as gps doesn't work due to the metal blocking it.

Great vid! Looking to buy one of these for my sti soon and wanted to check. When I followed your link to the ali website I saw there were multiple idoing that fit our cars. Tried looking at the speccs of them and I couldn't really make out any major differences between them? Which one is "the best" so to say for android?
What I normally do is message iDoing themselves on instagram and they always help me get the right one! Shoot them a message and let them know I sent ya ;)

are you having issues with your GPS location when you using Apple CarPlay? Because I am and I’m trying to fix it. I tried contacting Idoing but they couldn’t help
When using the CarPlay, I just use the Maps app and haven't had a single issue!
did you install the gps antenna? I did and I’m having issues
I didn't. I use the the maps app, so no need for it.
Would be sick if it had the boost gauges on it. Like an app
Okay don't quote me on it, but I know there is a way to display gauges on it, so I think it might be possible😎

Hey. I have the factory kicker sub in my car. Can this hook up to the idoing, and if so, is it plug and play, or will I need a harness of some sort?
Yes! They provide the harness to plug in subs!

After using it for a couple of months how has it honestly been holding up? And also how is the wireless apple car play holding up? I’m thinking of purchasing one with the camera soon.

Hello, every review I've seen of this headunit talks about the Wireless Apple Car play. Does this unit also have Wireless Android Auto or do you need the USB plug? I do know they make a modle for the Toyota tundra but I don't know if they are the same model or anything. Thanks in advance!!
Yes, it also has wireless android auto, I just don't have an android haha! All the software on the units is pretty much the same no matter the vehicle it goes on. Reach out to @idoing_media on IG and they will get you sorted!

Thats a good question. I've always just used the bluetooth so I can't be certain. I want to assume it does since everything was plug and play, but I'll have to check when I get home.

Hows the responsiveness of the screen? I had a android head unit from joying a few years ago and it was super slow.

Does the head unit dim when you turn on the headlights?
Can't remember... not currently home, but I believe it does, and if not, I think it came with a harness where you could wire it and make it happen.
Just curious, does your unit make a hissing noise when nothing is playing?

Yes it does for me… it’s crap, they already sent me a 3rd one and it constantly chrashes and car play won’t work… get yourself a brand and not this crap

How did you plug in the stock mic?
Stock mic is part of the existing wiring harness I believe.... just plugs in to the back of the new unit.

I can’t bind any of my buttons do u know why because it worked before I put it on

have u had battery drain issues where the car won't start? seen some videos where these basically stay powered on
Nope! Its hooked up directly to the stock harness, so when the car shuts off, so does the radio.

Did it have the option for cruise control?
Cruise control buttons go straight to the ECU, not the headunit, so that doesn't even get affected!
