Trogly gets to do what so many of us would like to do, and shares it with everyone in such a way that we get close to having that experience, too. My kind of guitar guy!
Us : I've been saving up and working overtime and after I refinance my house I might be able to buy the Epiphone version of the Gibison guitar I wanted . Troggly : Hey I saw a guitar I liked on reverb so for fun I bought every one that has ever been produced .
@@jared305 that’s the point. It’s called a customer profile and Gibson doesn’t market themselves to people in the minimum wage position. Neither does Rolex, Ferrari, Lexus, etc. they have epiphone to cater to people in your position.
That part at 13:36 where he starts trashing the Spotlight Specials to keep the prices down had me ROLLING! Those price jumps in the video were hilarious. From $7,499 to $99,999 instantly. Too funny.
Served up fresh and hot Trogly casserole. Mmmmmm. You feed us well my man. Grateful for the content. Happy Thanksgiving fellow cool nerdy weird sporty guitar people.
I think that they’re all beautiful!! Except I would make it a point to play it every day! Collectible or not. I’m gonna do with this piece of art what it was created for. Making beautiful music!!
Buy what you want, buy what you will. Just don't mess up your troglodites thrill. And when you pay the bill, kindly leave a little tip, and help Austin on his les Paul trip. ( tip of the hat to frank zappa)
Good for you, Austin. The value of a collection is in the heart of the collector. Also... thanks for the tip on the custom shop sales site. Alpine White Custom is on the way. With the exception of my 62 Melody Maker and 2 SGs (one a 61 reissue and the other a Modern) all my Les Pauls are custom shop examples. Keep it up, brother!!!
Back in the 90s I knew a guy who had one of these, although heavily gigged and far from mint. It had a pair of Lace pickups in, and a shiny 'mudflap girl' sticker behind the stop bar. Last time I saw him he was playing a Strat with a HSH set up, and now married had the 'Mudflap Homer' version stuck on it. He still had the spotlight, although apparently after a head break it wasn't as good. That was about 10 years ago.
Where in Wisconsin? Is it a place connected to the birthplace and home town of Les Paul, Waukesha, Wisconsin? That's where I grew up, and I'll be there mid-day tomorrow. Sorry, I missed the Discovery World pictures. I'll see if I can find time to take a walk through there in the next few days, if it helps. Also, I've got a few builds starting, and it looks like three, "single cut," body styles, one similar to a Custom, probably gold hardware (not sure about frets), and one with a single pickup, kind of a "made for Metal" feel, and of the three, two will be primarily Mahogany (gorgeous "ribbon" figuring), and one out of White Limba (Korina). These Specials have the wide Walnut center stripe on the front, I have STUNNING Maple tops, but I was considering a middle stripe on the back, between book matched ribbon figured Mahogany, of a book match of Bloodwood strips about .180" wide (or a dozen other species of figured hardwoods). What's the general view of such custom touches. Nothing gaudy or tacky, I'm not putting cubic zirconia on abalone, as I've been building guitars and basses for about 25 years, so I am very meticulous in build as well as design ideas. Redheart? Purpleheart? Bubinga? Walnut? All very figured...
You know you (or someone) could very easily drop fill those tuner hole clear coat chips, to the point that where you couldn't even see the repair. It's extremely easy to do using any thin ca glue.
I'm sure the one you called quilted is really Ribbon coil maple which was from the late 50s. I've got a Yamaha signature 'Keith More' which was made by a Luther at Yamaha CA and his Dad had worked at Gibson back then. He gave his son some of this wood for a special project ... which became my guitar.
the one in the photo wasn't my old one - but I've always been curious if my others were on display somewhere since a lot of his collection was loaned to that place
I toured that Les Paul exhibit in Milwaukee several years ago. I would love to see a video of you walking through and giving a commentary. I think you would love it too!
Love these big ol guitar hauls! Nice to pick up a collection. I remember your old Spotlight videos! Miss em a bit, so it's nice to see em back :) Greetings and well wishes from Utah man!
Austin, The Antique Burst that was your least favorite looking was the one that I liked the most… it was something about the way that the flame faded into the dark edges looked really good to me

My kind of guitar guy!
When Trogly said he bought a collection of his favorites, I thought he was gonna open a bunch of Bucketheads.
I honestly thought the same thing
I was afraid it was Silver Bursts...lol
I associate the Buckethead LP more with Trogly than with Buckethead
Doesn't he not even listen to buckethead lol
Y’all be some new fans lol
Awesome! When you do the full review of one of them, don't skip over the black light test! On all of them please!

Yes!!! The dream for the museum lives!!
The one you like the least is probably my favorite, I like how the burst matches the center line

Whaaa? Those truss rods have much more room to go.
I’m thankful for trogly.
If you open a museum, then I'd fly over from Australia just to check it out👍
Happy thanksgiving everyone!! 🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪
I had a Spotlight Special, back in the day. No one knew what it was. Just another Les Paul with different wood. Not neck through body. Cool.
Trogly relapsed

That's cool that you were able to pick up such a beautiful collection!
Gotta catch em all.
Thanks for sharing, really glad you were able to reunite with a few of your old flames.
They’re ALL Stunning ❗️
The center line contrast with the burst makes these really satisfying to look at, happy Thanksgiving everyone 🦃🦃🦃

Unbelievably beautiful guitars, my man. Congrats !
Those are some amazing examples of beautiful woods!
You are highly blessed to have all of these!
Spotlights are amazing. You picked up some truly unique specimens!
Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous.
Glad to see these in your hands.
Happy Thanksgiving Trogly!
Is there any reason you couldn't add a number of small washers behind the truss rod nut if you're running out of thread on the truss rod?
Beautiful collection Sir. Incredible Les Pauls!
Congratulations on birthing a new Spotlight collection, they all look killer!
Happy Thanksgiving Trogley and family!
Absolutely beautiful collection

Such gorgeous guitars!
That's a lovely top on that first one. I love the natural colours. It allows the wood to do it's thing.
Hogley in the trouse.
Have you ever done a video on "Seconds" from Gibson? Curious what types of defects got guitars marked as a second.
Very glad for you man!
A great video. I need to stop drooling .

The top on the 2nd one, might be the coolest flame top I’ve ever seen, that is amazing!
I like the one you referred to as ye old faithful most. And the one that returned to you.
I can't wait to visit your guitar museum.
Im not fond of those stripes in the maple tops. Otherwise nice guitars
BUY ALL OF THEM
They are beautiful guitars Trog. I can see how you became addicted
here we go again
17:34 What do you mean about that? Just happen to be in Canada, Do you miss out on lots of guitars to Canadian buyers?
Some beautiful examples
I have question I’m looking at a 2011 epiphone less Paul are less Paul’s good in that a good year or no
Fair play to Trogly, snapping up a batch of expensive Gibsons like I snap up toothpaste in a sale.
Sold because I was too addicted = wife or girlfriend said sell or pay the consequences 🤣
God I love Gibson guitars. Nothing else comes close for me .
