- Balatro Part 20 - a must see for any Balatro fans. I don't know if I'll ever level up any poker hand to a higher amount. All the stars had to align, and I had to make some extremely unorthodox plays. Let's take this space joker to the moon.

This was one of the most entertaining runs of Balatro I've seen. Unorthodox strategy, huge cool factors and fighting to reach higher in endless mode made this run extremely special.

1. Flush House/Straight Flush (+40/+4)
3. Flush Five (+50/+3)
4. Five of a Kind (+35/+3)
5. Straight/Four of a King (+30/+3)
6. Full House (+25/+2)
7. Three of a kind (+20/+2)
8: Flush (+15/ +2)
9: Two Pair (+20/+2)
10: Pair (+15/+1)
11: High Card (+10/+1)

Jesus. And I thought my lvl 87 four of a kind run was impressive. But you got over double the lvls for your hand type and more then one ante more. That’s even more impressive. Good job.
Edit. I pretty much only got to that level because of an early burnt joker, ankh, and brain storm so I was getting 3 lvls every round.
To be fair, it's easier to scale high-card than four of a kind since you are literally guaranteed to have high-card every hand

Yes, but with high card you tyler didn’t have to care about deck manipulation (that much), while with 4 of a kinds it is extreamly important to do so.

Time to see what this full run consisted of, joined the stream this was in late and was super confused how he managed to get to Level 100+ High card when I haven't seen any other video of it being done.
It is a shame seeing everyone playing on the beta branch. Would rather love to see some people on the normal build on the game until it is officially released on the normal branch.
The beta branch is just that much more fun to play. Props to the dev really

Won my first game on black stake last night with space Joker, blueprint, and brainstorm.

NGL It seemed to me like if Blueprint is copying Madness, Blueprint should destroy Madness (or any non-eternal) when a blind is selected, as this is part of Madness' ability. The way Blueprint (and Brainstorm) actually work seems to be highly selective.
that’s not its ability, it’s ability is that it gains 0.5x mult BY destroying jokers. blueprint doesn’t copy scaling methods for this reason

Those are two separate statements.
Even if madness doesn't destroy a joker he still gains 0.5X mult.
at least in this instance, it seems like it retriggered madness rather than acting as a separate copy of it.
Blueprint usually only copies the scoring part of a Joker (e.g. the X3 mult or +50 chips) but not the scaling part (e.g. gains +4 chips or gains X0.1 mult).
@@larswijn From my own play it also doesn't seem to copy the x1.5 of a polychrome for example, which is even more confusing, because as you pointed out it copies the scoring components, not the ability, but then also doesn't copy those scoring components from edition.

I agree that the new blue seal is quite strong, but I prefer purples on most runs. The self enabling nature of purples just beats the 2-3 planets you do get in the optimal case when abusing blue, unless you're specifically doing straights.
Out of curiosity, have you tried playing the ALIENSROCK balatro seed? Or the TYLER seed, or something along those lines idk, could be a fun run, depending on the cards you get
28:30 man what I would have given to see that Ankh gamble with his three most important cards eternal.
A little bit of quibble on how the exclusion mechanic works: it counts slots in the store so if you use empy you won't be able to get a card that's in the current shop or pack unless you have the showman on hand.
What a wonderful run, AND you got stacked negatives from Anaglyph, that's like the best possible wish (second being maybe a huge long stack of +40$)

Just wanna say that if you click on an emperor card in an arcana pack, it cannot give you any of the cards that are in the pack with it. So the pack that had emperor and death, he said that he hopes he gets death in hand but that's not allowed.

Tyler likes deckbuilding games. And there is one called Library of Ruina. It may be a bit slow due to the story for Tyler and i am not sure he will enjoy the artstyle but it has a REALLY deep card system and intresting mechanics and what is called a Vertical learning curve (tho it can be lowered a lot by reading, common joke in the community lul)
It may not he good for streams or vids since is a "not really popular game" game but now that i think about it it may be a game he likes. Constantly upgrading the deck, multiple passives to create synergies, tho it has some grinding.
Idk it may be a game you enjoy beyond the artstyle.

Had Blueprint with Rare Joker Tag and survived with Two-Hands +10 joker until I got Burnt Joker, got up to lvl46 at Ante 8 Boss

You skipping celestial joker genuently hurt me. And you could have tried Ankh at 28:37. Yes it would have stopped upgrading the high card and would have been a BIG, BIG shot in the dark. But with the amount of money you had, you could have pulled it off. Nonetheless, that was a very impressive run with, UNEXPECTED choices X), great job Tyler!

Is it possible to get below 0 anti by stacking double tags and then getting petroglyph?
i mean technically a deck of stone cards is ultimate for high card but only high card
going just by itself without the high card ranks which makes it even better the math is something like
because its 50 chips vs 11 minimum with ranges from
250 chips vs 11
adding tags in so red tag
to 500 chips (red tag) vs 22 or 62 (red tag bonus card) 176 (red tag and plus multi)
not counting lucky card because low odds
also it can have the edition the same the math get outrageous
like 50x1.5 twice 5 times vs 44x1.5 twice i think
also joker cards that make the hand replay which being such as first card only just last hand all hands x number of time or just all hands all cards are face and face double play (though kinda bad unless negative s it 2 card and hinder bus so scaling lost) and all of those stack plus blueprint and brainstorm

plus it cant be hit my most specific boss blinds that are anti suit but anything that hits high card hits it obviously
but most others work also you can just play 3 or 4 card not just 5 for those jokers as minor as they are though i doubt its as good as 5 super stones
sure it doesnt get hit by say color or suit bonus jokers but it would let bus work at maximum effect and most those jokers are also for lower levels so who care
though not hack or low card high card or fib/wakie or odd and even though that just low level so who care
though 1 strong ace or face card with joker synergy or low card high card with joker synergy and the rest of your hand steel red sealed with mime would outpace if enough
(that kinda part of the the naneinf score exploit works but nothing beats that so non factor)
so technically that can hit stone to if you do the exploit with stone but the exploit is so strong it doesnt matter what you play so non factor

It makes more sense to put chariot on the blue seal cards since you already want them to be held in hand. The only thing that would be better is a red seal steel.

Did they buff blue seals in the latest update? I gotta consider them more highly. Also Tyler if you read this, I believe that if you have a tarot or planet card in a consumable slot, you won't see it in the shop or in any packs.

i love that balatro is basically a giant example and study of this, like everyone who plays balatro swears up and down that space joker and wheel of fortune must be rigged with how infrequently they actually trigger, in fact aliensrock demonstrates this behavior many times throughout this one video, yet WoF does trigger once in this video and he kind of doesnt react, and seems to have forgotten by the next time he uses WoF. His brain seems to focus more heavily on the times it didnt trigger than the time it did, most likely because he loses out on about 3 dollars everytime it fails, and 2/3 times that it succeeds it gets a forgettable edition (foil or holographic), often on a joker he didnt exactly care for getting the edition. It is clear that WoF is far more likely to not go your way than to go your way exactly to how you wanted, yet people still buy it, then get frustrated when it doesnt go their way. Luckily tyler is a much better sport than most balatro players and is much more willing to take risks and is ok when those risks backfire.
Space joker, lucky cards, glass cards, and gros michel are the other "main" lotteries, and i think much like WoF, space joker and lucky cards having no positive effect on a whiff make their losses feel worse (and thus more memorable) than, say, glass cards or gros michel, which do give positive effects on whiffs. In the case of the glass card, it gives the same x2 mult effect regardless of if it whiffs or hits the 1/4 shatter chance, same with gros michel, though with gros michel there is a good benefit to hitting the 1/4, and thats a chance at getting Cavendish later in the run. That makes gross michel only have positives, aside from the chance that you dont get Cavendish later in the shop. So the spectrum is basically: Gros Michel feels good 4/4 of the times, Glass card feels good 3/4 of the time, luckycard feels good 4/15 of the time, space joker feels good 1/4 of the time, and Wheel of Fortune (assuming you have 5 jokers each with no edition on them, and you have 3 jokers youd prefer it land on over the other 2), actually, ill just let my past self when i did the math speak for itself:
1/5 to hit, past that has 1/3 to polychrome, past that has ~3/5 to hit a preferred joker.
Best case: 1/25 (4/100) "WOOO!!! YEAHHH!!" The one you remember
2nd best case: 2/75 (~3/100) "OH! Thats awesome!" The one you might remember
3rd best case: 2/25 (8/100) "oh, neat" the one you like but forget
4th best case: 4/75 (~5/100) "ok" you forget that it happened that very run
Worst case: 4/5 (80/100) "of course, this whole thing is rigged!" You definitely remember this, and complain about it later

So I guess, at this point, Tyler didn’t know that Red Seals make Steel cards trigger twice? Also, Stone cards were great for this build if they were Polychrome. It basically lets you slip a 1.5 times Mult into any hand without requiring Splash.

Question: How was all your blue seals always pluto's? When I get those they are usually randomized. Amazing run, wish I could get one run like this.
The beta patch changed the blue seal to always give the planet card of the last played hand of the round!

Remember that in spots like 45:00 you can play the 10 for the money!
With 127 mult a singular stone card is worth 6350 chips. And you can play 5 stones as a high card.
The triple blackboard is actually worth x27, not x9, 3x3 is 9 x 3 is 27
It's 9x when compared to a normal hand, because the normal hand already has one copy of blackboard, triple blackboard is two more than normal, hence, 9x.

If you copied all 6's with one of the jokers (either blueprint or brainstorm) it would have doubled the chance of space joker from 2/4 to 4/4. Also would double it for the wheel of fortune. You kind of misplayed on that.
You forgot to split up blueprint and brainstorm again at 55:55. It would have been a WAY better play to split them up, one copying photograph, the other copying seltzer. And you would have been able to get over 2 billion if you did that.
Explanation:
When you play a card, it triggers the associated effects 1 time by default. It triggers the glass effect of the card, and photograph, so 2 effects (both give x2 points)
Seltzer adds 1 more trigger, so you would be getting 2 triggers of 2 effects. Let's say you start with 1 mult just so it's simpler to calculate, this means you would get:
1 base mult X [ ( 2 glass X 2 photograph ) ^ ( 1 base trigger + 1 seltzer ) ] = 16 final mult
If just 1 blueprint is added, it does not matter if it copies a multiplier or a retrigger, because there are the same amount of multipliers and triggers on both sides:
1 base mult X [ ( 2 glass X 2 photograph X 2 blueprint ) ^ ( 1 base trigger + 1 seltzer ) ] = 64 final mult
1 base mult X [ ( 2 glass X 2 photograph ) ^ ( 1 base trigger + 1 seltzer + 1 blueprint ) ] = 64 final mult
But if another blueprint or brainstorm are added, it's best to split them up, instead of pairing them together like you did:
1 base mult X [ ( 2 glass X 2 photograph X 2 blueprint ) ^ ( 1 base trigger + 1 seltzer + 1 brainstorm ) ] = 512 final mult
1 base mult X [ ( 2 glass X 2 photograph X 2 blueprint X 2 brainstorm ) ^ ( 1 base trigger + 1 seltzer ) ] = 256 final mult
1 base mult X [ ( 2 glass X 2 photograph ) ^ ( 1 base trigger + 1 seltzer + 1 blueprint + 1 brainstorm ) ] = 256 final mult
And for this, I have to inform you again, Tyler, that I am disappointed in your total misplay.

I know there's no point pointing this out now, but instead of three space jokers at doubled odds, you should have run two space jokers at twice doubled odds, which gets you 2 guaranteed level ups per hand (as opposed to 3 50/50s)
