Which do you prefer? RS660 or Tuono 660? Either way check them out at AF1 Racing: www.af1racingaustin.com/
I have a 2021 acid gold Tuono 660, and it's magnificent
RS personally. Fit my riding style a bit better and I like how easy it is to tuck in track or cruise on the road. May be the best blend of road/track bike ever produced
@@madguitarist63 and that's fine. The Tuono fits me and my riding style so much better, mainly because I'm a little older, haven't done track days (even though the Tuono is more than capable), and because I'm 6'4" I don't want to be crunched down in the traditional sport bike riding position. They are both spectacular bikes
@@AngryDragon11 I'm 6'1 with a 6'4 wingspan. So if I was any taller in the torso, it may be more of an issue. The RS didn't really force you to tuck which is nice, however, it is definitely more aggressive on the wrists versus the tuono
@@madguitarist63 for me it was the "goldilocks" thing, I test rode both the RS and Tuono before buying and the Tuono just fit me, perfectly. The scallops in the tank fit my legs perfectly, and thw reach to the grips were perfect for me. I don't really notice the vibration Spite mentioned in his video though, at least not through the pegs
I bought a blue R3 yesterday Spite! My first bike!!!! Wanted to thank you, your previous comments about taller guys on smaller bikes really helped push me towards a smaller more appropriate beginner bike. I pick it up Tuesday as long as the weather holds!!!
Come back in a week or two and let us know how it’s been!
Nice bike bro. Wish they had those looks when i was starting out.
Congrats, so are you a taller guy on a small bike?
You did it right, you’re starting with a smaller bike, you will develop into a much better rider in the future.
Please come back in a week and don’t sugar coat it
I bought the 2023 Tuono 660, reason why 0% financing for 48 months. After breaking it in I bought the quick shifter, IMU and the Bluetooth adapter installed them myself, took the bike to the dealership to get the ECU to recognize the quick shifter and the IMU. Love the bike.
I just bought a 660 factory, and I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up and the roads to clear up so i can ride her home from the dealer. Cant wait
Hopefully you’ll love it. It’s a fun bike. I love learning the features on it.
in what world they allow people to finace with 0%
can I tell the dealer to install the quickshifter and IMU for me?
@@dariomladenovski7047 if you pay for install i dont see why they wpuldnt do it for you, just make sure to ask them
I've got a 2023 Tuono 660 Factory and I'm absolutely in love with it.
No problems?
@@glenlipkens6647 Nothing so far. I've only had it since September but ride it every chance I get.
@@TresBob that is nice to hear, I plan on ordering a White factory next week but all these comments of so many people having issues with it is making me doubt
@@glenlipkens6647 I think you're good on newer year models. They're beautiful bikes!
@@TresBobCertainly hope so, im a beginner rider. Learned on a MT07 so im really excited. Hope I wont regret not taking a cb650r
I think Aprilia as a brand is one of the best kept secrets in motorcycling. I have a 2009 Aprilia shiver 750. It is slightly modified most people would find it very difficult to keep up with me on a twisty Road and I'm 6 ft 5 inches at 325 lb. Aprilia's are just impressive
Almost 5000 miles on my 23’ rs660 (first bike) not a single issue. Love it! 👊🏼
I bought this exact bike last week. I agree with all of your points. This bike is absolute BUTTER. I love it... It's a smile creator. Brakes are amazing, acceleration is smooth, and the engine sounds amazing. Very easy to flick around, yet very planted. I can't say enough good things about this bike. The acid gold with red wheels is a beautiful pairing. I get compliments everywhere I go.
I got the RS 660. It's a smile a minute. I also have a Ninja 650. The Aprilia is a smoother bike all the way around and a best in class tech package. I test rode the Tuono. Good bike but I prefer the styling of the RS 660. Aprilia just needs more dealers and they would grab more market share.
Just bought a 2024 RS 660 and you are so right in if Aprilia had more dealers, they would grab the market.
I agree the 660 is amazing but just go with the factory its just a better bike and the difference in price is minimal. With a tune the factory is just as fun as the 890, Monster, and MT 09. Love my Tuono.
Great review. Owned an RS660 and switched to a Street Triple RS. Bought a 23 Tuono 660 used with 280 miles for $8,500 and couldn’t be happier with it. Would take it over the RS660 all day and quite honestly it’s way more versatile than my 24 Street Triple.
NEVER aprilia again…bought a tuono 660 2022, withing 6 weeks i had 4 trip to the dealer with issued, last one was mechanical and waiting 4 months for a part….
Put over 4k miles on my Tuono 660 factory, many multiply hundred mile days. I’ve not had any notable discomforts due to vibration intrude on my rides. Zero chicken strips, lots of riding at seriously engaging pace, no complaints here.
What timing! I just got back from the first ride of my new Tuono 660! I'm a new rider and the bike has less than 20 miles so it was a very calm ride, but it was very fun just because of the "new" factor. Btw, I agree that Tuono deals can be found. Aprilia had some nice incentives in February, including $1,000 off pre-2024 Tuonos (mine is a 2022). Can't believe how much bike I got for the money.
I've got a Tuono 660 Factory that i primarily use on the track. Full suspension and go fast goodies. 385 lbs and plenty of enough go to play with the big boys on the track.
Hey mad love ! Always great content !!
I got my tuono 660 for 6,000 with low miles put over a thousand miles on it for far such a fun bike for real. Dope vid
I got the 2022 Tuono 660 grey/red. Love it. One good selling point you didn’t mention, insurance on the Tuono is much cheaper than the RS. Once my bike gets up in age I plane to do a clip on conversion
Bought Tuono 660 Concept Black couple weeks ago. It's 95HP here in UK but plenty of power in motorway... Easy to handle and break power is superb. Surprisingly, stock exhaust sounds amazing. Love the bike..
I agree with Spite, you lucky Americans should all be riding Tuono 660's. Here in Australia they start at $21,490 AUD ($14,000+ USD) and the only used one on the market is a 35kW (47hp) versions for the learners. And it's a similar story for the RS 660, yet low mileage V4's are everywhere.
It looks like I'll be holding on to my Aprilia Shiver for a while yet.
I feel you. Those things start at PHP 860,000 (USD 15,500) here in the Philippines.
And in Israel 21,300 usd 😂
I've had a Tuono 660 Factory for nearly two years now, and it's perfect. I didn't even feel the need to modify it. If I were to wreck it or something, I'd get another one. In my opinion that's how you know you've found the perfect bike.
Got my 23 Tuono 660 Factory last year as my first bike, love it.
I actually own 2021 Tuono 660 VIN number 000002. Looks nice next to my 2016 Ducati 1200R.
Great review✊🔥
I got my ‘23 Rush Grey Tuono in December and love it. The dealer in Peoria (NW Phoenix) was offering the Factory and base at the same $9500 discounted price point and I chose the base for the same reason I prefer a manual gearbox in a sports car instead of a paddle shift - it is immensely more involving and satisfying day after day to match my own revs rather than letting some computer do it for me. Another reason for the Tuono was the more upright riding position. It’s a lot more comfortable than the full-on Aprilia and Ducati sport bikes I’ve owned over the last two decades and I don’t need to be hunched over the tank playing MotoGP anymore in order to enjoy carving up a canyon. The 660 Tuono really hits the sweet spot and ticks all the boxes.
Correction: playing Isle of Man TT.
I've got nothing, so I'm going to like my own comment
Same. I’ll like it too.
@@dudeitswillis my man
I've been in love with this bike since I saw one leave the shop 2 years ago. Absolutely gorgeous and what a sound 😮
I am lucky enough to have the V4 Factory in the garage but would love the 660 Factory as a worthy stablemate, great for those days when you want to redline a few gears and not fear for your licence, loved this review
I've been wanting this exact bike for years. Granted, I still need to get my license and a beginner bike to get my feet wet, but this is my dream bike. The Tuono 660 is a happy yellow banana.
Great review. How are the vibrations in the bars/pegs compared to a 690/701 bike?
Very Nice review , I have on Pre-order a 2024 Aprilia RS 457 and it will be here in roughly 45 days. Will you be doing a review of that bike also?
I had a tuono 660 factory, it's an amazing bike, the only thing that's missing is higher seat option and maybe 20-30hp more than it's literally perfect. The suspension is AWESOME and the tech alone, its also good enough for the track. Touring is doable as well since it has the CC
I beleive this to be the best middle weight bike on the market right now, and posably long time to come. At least at this price point.
Great vidio as alwas Spite. Going to get down to Austin for a visit sometime soon. Lot of love for the show from Dallas.👍
@spitescorner Hey man, I love your videos. I've subbed.
I am a Tuono 660 Factory owner for about 9 months now, about 4500 miles on it so far.
The "hard to find neutral" issue was present for me when the bike was brand new.
However, after about 200-300 miles the gears have "worn in" and it's no longer an issue what so ever! :)
Reliability wise, I have had ZERO real issues with the bike so far. I do however recommend checking the torque on your engine and clutch covers every 1000 miles or so, just to be sure. They came loose a little on me, causing a minor oil leak that was easily fixed by retightening the bolts on said covers.
The bike is an absolute blast to ride and I'm one of those that might make this a "one and done" bike for me.
I’ve got the ‘24 factory. 2,500km so far with no problems. Such a great bike! Whether carving corners or tucking on the Autobahn.. I continue to enjoy every ride!
2500KM is nothing lol.... I've got a GSXR with 67k miles that's still running amazingly.
Had the pleasure of riding the tuono v4 and the 660 at an aprilla event a few months back. I fell in love with the 660. Good power flickable light weight, it was a great ride what took it out of the running for me was only the price. At $13k most of the competitors for this bike are below $10k. I get it though you pay for the Italian name and quality but the Suzuki 8s overall felt better and that’s what I settled on for $9400 out the door. With the tuono 660 I was looking at close to $15k out the door. If it would have came in at under $12k out the door I probably would have bought it on the spot.
Sorry, a Tuono 660 factory isn’t just a normal Tuono with the imu and quick shifter, there are other more significant differences like upgraded and fully adjustable suspension. The imu and quickshifter are about $200 upgrades each
picking up my tuono 660 factory this week. test rode it 2 times and had a grin on my face the entire 6 hours
Wait, where do you get 3 hour test rides?
The RS 660 or the Tuonno 660 would be my choice for a first motorcycle! Great video! Love the insight and energy.
I own this bike in this colorway, and I love it. Street riding, track days, the works. Brilliant Bike!
My RS660 was the perfect introduction to a street bike. It's so well rounded. Just a fantastic all around bike. If you love naked tuono is a great bike. I liked the ride position of the rs660 personally
They could use a moder-retro bike on this platform
Had an nc750x
Went to a,shop for a secondhand z900
Saw the,tuono 660
After saw the rs660
Fell in love with the rs
Still in love with my 2023 rs 660
my man.. I still have my NC700X. Great bikes.
I owned one of these and it was easily one of my favorite motorcycles (if not my favorite) ever. Traded it in after two years for an MV Superveloce but if I had to do it all again, I'd get another one of these and a backup beginner bike (like the Duke 390) and use it as my primary. Nothing else, garage is set in stone with that layout. It's just that good, a real 10/10 for me.
Every time my friends ask for recommendations I always start here, and whenever they tell me about reliability issues I say "so what?"
Spring is almost here for the people up north just added insurance back now its time for tires n service can't wait
🏍💨💨💨
great points. def. good value. prepare for incoming 'but it's not reliable' ...
Already here 😂
Repeating what they heard
It's a nice alternative to the now constant blacked out bikes-it might look great parked by my black Sporty!
I am ordering my RS660 on Tuesday. I like it's looks more than the Tuono, and with cruise control comfort is a non issue. I can just turn it on and sit completely upright between the fun twisty sections.
Yellow is the color I'd get. The red wheels look weird though (McDonald's)
I was close to getting a tuono 660 factory but the price point was in line with a zx6r so I couldn’t justify it from a performance standpoint and got the kawi
What about brakes and suspension on both?
You did good. Japan's engines aren't going to chuck connecting rods out the side of blocks when used on a racing circuit, unlike Aprilia 660 engines.
Thinking of buying one as my next bike but not sure about the reliability. Was thinking of getting an xsr700 or cb650r but it’s tempting to get the Tuono 660.
Italian Vs Japanese 😂
Yall making me want to ride my rs660 more
Because i've personally heard of a few people having major issues with their 660s and they spend more time in the shop than on the road/track.
Yes, then consider the crazy situation I wrote about in my other comment: the MV Agusta Brutale R being about the same price in many markets! Even cheaper for some (when considering the 3 years of free servicing on offer in some markets)! And that bike is not just very reliable, proven tech and with a much longer warranty, but the bike itself is in a completely different league!
I’ve heard similar horror stories. Shame because I love the look of aprillias , same with KTM , too any stories about these bikes shittin the bed and having problems getting repairs done under warranty .
I owned RS600, Tuono V4, and currently own Tuareg 660, I had no major issues at all and I believe I have the credentials to state that Aprilia is a reliable brand
@@anas_moto No, your anecdote is not "credentials to state that Aprilia is a reliable brand". Ridiculous.
How many miles have you put on them?
@@anas_moto
The Factory 660 version is incredible. I added bar end mirrors and a tail tidy. They do vibrate, but I'm not bothered by it. Plenty of pull and it stops on a dime. It absolutly flows thru traffic. With the different selectable rider modes and cruise control I could not ask for more. I will eventually get the ECU remapped with a better exhaust as it is tuned to run lean from the factory.
Have a rsv4 and a tuono 660. My biggest gripe on the tuono is how small it feels for tall riders. I find myself constantly throwing my ass back(sorry for the imaginary) because of the seat shape making the jewels kiss the tank. Throw in that vibration and sleepy feet is the last thing i worry about. Would be perfect if the front of the seat came up a bit more the rear down, maybe even trim off the part that hits your tail bone when you try to scoot back.
Quickshifter is awesome on it. Akra pipe is a must. Keep above 5k rpm and you’re good to go.
Im looking forward to the new aprilias!
Great and beautiful bike. The problem I run into with Aprilia, Ducati, Triumph and BMW is that I don't live near any dealerships. If I lived near a major city, then yeah, I would love to own one. But their dealerships are a minimum of 150 miles from where I live and I would have to go to a dealership to clear a code just to change the oil. All of these European bikes have limited dealerships in the US. Japanese brands, I have 3 within 20 miles of me and I live in a small city in the midwest. Hell, I have a CFMoto, KTM and Husqvarnia all less than an hour from me. Alas, no Aprilia or Ducati so I'm stuck with Japanese bikes. Not that this is bad in any way.
Thats a big reason why I and many others will not buy an Aprilia, Ducati, Triumph or BMW. Limited dealerships only near very large metro areas.
I got a deal on a new 2022 RS 660 last October as my first bike. I didn't have my license yet so I couldn't test drive the Tuono, but I'm sure it's a riot. The 660s are a bit of a handful for a beginner but I'm at 3000 km now and so glad I didn't get a typical beginner bike. Looking forward to track days when it gets warmer!
So glad you love the bike. But don't believe that 3000 kms makes you experienced. Else overconfidence will get the best of you.
Remember you will always be in progress of learning. Enjoy!
@@VaBraAnton , thanks! :) I wasn't really implying any "level" of experience other than that required appreciate the difference between the Aprilia and various other bikes I've ridden during my rider training (F 900, F 750 GS, Z650). Not that those are really beginner bikes, but that is what the driving school provided. Actually, I think the 660's light weight, good handling/suspension, electronics and good brakes make it a bit safer. Still the throttle can get you in trouble, but that's where maturity and restraint come in! Completely agree regarding learning, like so many other things, we are never quite finished. I practice every time I go out and have four on-track courses booked for this summer!
The bike has always looked great and seemed very appealing to me, but I’m just not dishing out $11k MSRP when there are cheaper options with a more reliable track record. If I found a used one under $7k it would be a definite buy, but there aren’t even any on the used market around me.
Going forward any bike with throttle by wire and ABS should have cruise control. Once you have those things, cruise control is just a little software and 3 buttons.
I almost bought a Tuono 660. I wanted something more touring friendly though and had the opportunity to pick up a KTM 1290, an engine I've been drooling over for a few years now, so had to jump on that opportunity. If I ever decide to downsize one day though, this bike is very high on that list. Demoed an RS660 and loved it, except for the lean, despite how mild it is. My lower back just can't handle any kind of lean for extended periods of time. 5 min in to that demo, I was wishing I was on the Tuono instead.
I've just put an exhaust and tune on my 660 tuono factory and oh my god I'm never selling it, such a great all rounder. All the bike I'll ever need.
I absolutely love my Tuono 660, it's a blast, comfy, and fits me perfectly at 6'4". I can actually use it anywhere, which you usually can't with a liter bike. Spite, you didnt talk about how perfectly ypir legs fit the scallops of the tank, we are about the same size and my legs fit exactly right
I actually don't fit in the tank wings. We must be built differently.
I ride the other Italian bike, Moto Guzzi, and checked out the 660 and was shocked. The amount of factory standard features, the performance, style, etc is MUCH cheaper than others like BMW, etc who nickel and dime you to death with non-standard options and then charge you twice the amount of money. The Aprilia Tuono 660 seems like a superior value!
Which Guzzi?
Love my Tuono 660F.
I'd love to hear your opinion on the GSX-8R vs this and the Daytona 660 when it arrives.
LOVED my Tuono 660 until I got hit off of it in an intersection and it got totaled. The quick shifter is a must and bar end mirrors / a fender delete are just a *Chefs Kiss* It was my first bike btw so it was pretty newbie friendly for all my new riders.
6:00 the rake is slightly steeper on Tuono too vs RS.
The Aprilia 660 platform is indeed the Goldilocks-zone of power and performance for the street… I was a touch hesitant to buy a ‘parallel twin’ but it is ideal for the road.. at first I couldn’t believe my rs660 hit 150+ on the Mexican highway
Always wondered how this bike would feel since I have owned a Tuareg 660 and currently have a Tuono V4 1100 RR
The RS and even the Tuono660 are going to be the new modern SV650 bikes in terms of starter street and they make great track bikes. Just need to find a way to get RS track plastics on the Tuono.
It would have been high on my list, but the nearest dealership/repair was 2 hours away. Ended up going the Ducati route.
So most of the time in the video you were in 2nd and 3rd gear, and found it to be very vibrational. Briefly on the highway you were in 5th. Was that better? Is it just in a certain rev range that the vibration was bad? How about 6th?
I’m looking at the Tuareg 660
I do like their look, I like the reviews, I'm the absolute average height/weight so I fit on sport bikes perfect, I'm very interested. The only reason I wouldn't get it is I've already fallen in love with the ZX-6R. The heart wants what the heart wants.
I think they're cool bikes, and I guess pretty alright. As for sound wise V4's do sound mighty fine though.
A few months ago I bought the tuono 660 2023. Everything about how the sound is amazing is true and completely amplified in person. But one mod that I did and that I will never regret because is so good is the exhaust. Instead of buying an aftermarket exhaust, I removed the cat and internal sound reducing piping and weld everything back together. I can not begin to explain how amazing the bike sounds now. If anybody is interested in the process and results. Drop a reply and I'll send some clips to your instagram or whatever. But yeah. All in all beautiful and amazing bike
So it’s a beautiful Saturday and you’re going for a day ride, about 6 hours, mostly twisty backroads, some highway. In your garage sits an Aprilia RS660, a Tuono 660 Factory, an MT09 SP, and a CFmoto 800nk. Which one are you choosing Spite?
Probably the NK. It's the most comfortable of the bikes you listed. 6 hours is a long time in the saddle.
I think the only other difference between the tuono 660 and the factory is the the factory also has a shorter final drive. 16 teeth it says on the aprilia website. One less than the base tuono 660.
The best one is the Tuono 660 Factory, comes with q/s, IMU and completely adjustable suspension that is way better than even the RS. Right now a lot of the 2023s are going for about $9k.
Hey Spite what leather jacket is that??
Just give it a little rev before going to neutral, works for me on my Tuono 660.
This is an easy answer. A: are those connecting rods i see?, the MotoAmerica Twins class that these compete in see's the average team bringing spare engines.. like more than 1to each race. . B: Parts? come out come out wherever you are!! Months wait time is average, longer is expected and common. Did I mention price? C: Dealerships? Service?
Anyone have experience with the tuono and a street triple? I’m looking to downsize and curious what you think
If Aprilia would do the blurple on the tuono, and bring back the yellow from the 2013 APRC, i would be ecstatic
Will you ever review the Moto guzzi V7 850?
We have 2x Tuono 660. My wife and I love them. So much fun and technology for little money. The sound from the air box 😍 is so great and the bike is so easy to ride.
We already have 30000miles and they are running perfectly.
For us it's the best bike in this class and we've ridden a lot of bikes.
You can use the full power, I have more fun on the country road than with the Tuono V4.
I had an RS660 before and I have to say I have a lot more fun with the Tuono 660❤❤ !!!
Live in EU?
And for those like me who are fanatical for fully faired bikes, the rs660 is superb
Hey Spite, how does this fair with KTM duke 790/890? Am looking into these 3 bikes for everyday commuting and weekend twisties or simple trackdays.
Having just bought an RS660, I agree that the vibrations in the pegs are the worst thing about it. I don't know if there's anything that could be done to help with them tho? My previous KTM Duke parallel twin had rubber on top of the pegs which probably helped, but looked crap and didn't offer as much grip for track stuff or when it was wet, so i prefer the pegs on the RS overall.
You’ll learn that moving your feet around takes care of it. Just like you would at a track, adjust your feet for each corner and the vibes don’t affect you. Gel insoles help too
Tuono 660 factory delivered yesterday. Too much salt on the roads to give it a blast 😢Don’t want that salt eating my new bike.
Is the tuono 660 factory better than a mt09 sp?
What about long term reliability?
imagine the sales theyd have if the 660 was a smaller v4 instead of another parallel twin road bike.
Great Great bike!
Theres a hint of 2 stroke in the exhaust...
Dying to have the RS 660, which is just the Sportbike version of this.
Fully agree
I agree best real world real affordable bike for any road!
how does this comapre to the gsxs8, gsx8r?
