It was really weird to see a word in my own language in an anime. It's not a lot of times that I have seen something related to Iceland in an anime
How ironic how the characters Nine and Twelve are actually references to a date 09/12. Japan is a day ahead so 9/11 would have been 9/12 in Japan, but still managed to shock the whole world when it happened.
+Fumxe's BVE Channel! actually twelve was originally named eleven
I just realized that
Not true, it would just be called 9/11. Nobody calls it 9/12.
Joshua W. Not saying that it would be called 9/12, but the reference to the event in Japanese time would technically be 9/12 since they're a day ahead.
+Joshua W. Did you even read the comment right?
You forgot to say that the show will break your heart into a million pieces. Unless you don't get attached to the characters.
Watching this after ITAKISS was a bad idea
@@kingnothing5678 what anime?
i actively hate the characters....
I got attached to all the characters but five(no hate to her)
The ending was one of the most depressing endings I've seen...
Angle Beats
+Mr. Ham it was meh. It was pretty neat but when (SPOILERS ALERT SPOILERS ALERT) angel girlie thing says it was his hard she has got is just an little bit random and feels cliché. Further, i'm a good fan of the show and it Sure was a great watch!
mr ham in angel beats there's an assumption that it's a good thing that most of the characters move on, though I'm not saying it isn't heartbreaking that otonashi gets...sorry, almost spoiled it.
Yhorm I don't understand how it's so sad. 9 and 12 led successful lives and got what they wanted in the end. They led important lives. Idk why but the ending weirdly satisfied me.
Mr. Ham bokurano
I blubbed like a baby at the end
I was in front of my father when I watched the end. I was basically rolling on my living room floor crying...
+Q. Castro stupid weeb
+Joshua W. stfu. please
+Joshua W. What the fuck is your problem. I really like the anime and I loved the characters get off my case. Excuse me for expressing my feelings towards ANIME.
+Q. Castro well said
In the end, I actually think Lisa was one of the most important characters of the story. She was the one who would mainly remember 12 and shibazaki would remember 9.
Would have liked more info about Lisa's future through. Maybe she became sphinx 3 and made videos to show even more truth about the Athena project. Maybe she shared more info about twelve and 9
Maybe she settled things with her mom, who's she living with? Is she still bullied?
What about Shibazaki? It's pretty certain he got promoted and worked on showing the public what Sphinx tried to achieve.
Throughout the series there is a lot of symbolism. The show turns better when you get all of the references. Even simple ones.
!SPOILER ALERT!

12: heart of sphinx -> shot through the heart
9:brain of sphinx -> died of brain issues
Nice analysis! I noticed the feathers were there during 12’s introduction and death representing the wings of sphinx. Birds molt their feathers during the summer. His whole personality and represented the summer with his kindheartedness and affection towards Lisa. He was seeking someone to rely on him and bring meaning to his lonely life. And since he represented summer it was funny how he was always complaining about the heat.
And then there’s 9, eyes cold as ice who loves music from Iceland. He represents winter. the body of the sphynx. The lion. the masculinity. His cold calculating nature and will do anything to accomplish his mission.
And then there’s Lisa who completes the sphinx. The female head.
@@jeremiahmarkusmedia6915 That's so cool!! I never knew that!
lisa had no reason to be in the story. why did they even visit the school anyway???

What is wrong with the show. Great character development... Great art... Nice soundtrack... Awesome story... The ending? People don't like it because it's not like most endings where it's like "My last request.... *BREEEATH in* is.... To remember me...."
Yeah i agree with you
Some tend to forget that a "fitting" ending isn't always "romantically" tragic. This WAS tragic. But not in the way many "wished" it to be. But fitting for the show none the less
And what's wrong with romance? 🤨
Ending was good but rest of the anime...
Meh
@@mariusbogdanas8274 why was it meh? please tell me this is a mystery to me when people say that
People didn't like the ending, really? I was pretty satisfied with it to be honest. I wouldn't call it a 'Code Geass' ending, but still good. I think the only thing that got on my nerves was the 'Engrish'. Other than that I would give it a solid 9/10.
Some people don't like it when the endings aren't form-fitting to how they think shows should end. This ending was more subtle than most people wanted given the content of the show. I thought the ending fit nicely, not the best ending, but certainly not the worst either.
And yes, I didn't understand how Clarence's English could be so good, while every other English speaker sounded so awful. If you are going to make it seem like they are speaking English, use English-speaking actors.
SPOILER!
The only thing i didnt get was why 9 died? 12 got shot and 9 died from... what?
wooza bay *Spoilers*
The extensive experimentation of the children in the Athena Plan caused them to have shortened lives. This isn't explicitly stated, or at least I don't remember them making a marked note of this fact; weird given it's EXTREME importance to the finally and the overall story but I digress.
You can see the major headaches that Twelve, Nine and Five are suffering throughout the series and for conveniences sake, either that or severe trauma (i.e. Twelve's death) enhances this condition, and the U.S. troops somehow knew this and decided not to shoot him(?). So, Nine dies as a result of this condition.
longliverocknroll5 Oh, yeah i guess that makes sense. Thanks for explaning!
The only thing that i hated about the ending was watanabe saying "HEY GUYS, REMEMBER WHEN WE DID A SLOW CAMERA PAN TO THE SKY FOR THE COWBOY BEBOP CREDITS? WELL I HOPE YOU LIKED IT, BECAUSE WE'RE GONNA DO IT AGAIN!!!"
Like yeah, watanabe, i get it. You directed bebop =_=
I love this show.
It's right up there with Cowboy Bebop for me because it tells a story, then it ENDS. No OV beach episode, no season 2, no 400+ episodes of filler. That is more than just another show, that is ART.

God dam i fucking loved this anime. i can't even explain why I love it....it was short and yeah alot of the problems others have pointed out are legitimate, but the music and atmosphere of this show was just fantastic and absolutely beautiful...definitely in my all time top 5 anime.
Can you please tell me a site I can stream it. Please and thank you

It was about the atmosphere and the setting. The characters weren't the main focus but their goal was.
I absolutely agree 100%
I think most people don't like the ending of this anime + don't agree it's one of the best this year because it required a lot of thinking. Not saying people are stupid or something but it really required the viewer to think and reflect about the actions and themes portrayed in the show. To me the story boils down too how corrupt the government is and to what extent you have to go to make a point and let it be heard without it being diluted by media and other things. It is a shame that Sphinx's original plan to be turned in and explain everything in the press conference failed by Five, literally their plans got ruined by practically just Five's actions. Anyway they would spend a lot of time locked away so I don't know how that would work out but having Lisa and Shibazaki remember them was nice. Still wondering if Mishima patched things up with her mother....
I didn't like the ending because of the bad writing.
Zephen Blaming it on bad writing is a vague argument you'll have to elaborate more for me to understand you. Personally I think it was well thought out, if the American government hadn't stepped in, for example, it would seem weird, it's inclusion and their motives were plausible and it made the story more realistic.
The anime was horribly written. It isn't anime of the year
LESLIE222333 I wasn't even talking about it being anime of the year... and still why was horribly written? It tied up loose ends, developed the characters (some more than others but it's very hard with only 11 episodes), gave you a solid but kinda open conclusion and didn't spoon feed information for you, you had to think and reflect about what it showed you and didn't tell you who was right or wrong. It wasn't perfect to every extent, Shibazaki and Five(and a bit of Lisa) might have been a little bit forced but the blunders they and with the protagonist were intelligent, exciting and fun to watch!
Joli-chan the main characters were poorly developed. We didn't get to know more about them after episode 2.
Lisa and five were shitty characters. Lisa was dumb and she kept being pushed back into the story for no reason. Five was a stereotypical evil villain who just wanted to beat the main character.
Shibazaki isn't an expert detective and yet he was the only one in the whole police force to solve riddles.
9 & 12 blow up 2 buildings and detonate a nuke with an EMP over Japan and no one was harmed or killed or affected by it at all.
The show was a poor psychological series. It never delves into the characters motives, ideologies or thoughts.
Big budget and great cast, but lack of story development, character development and the end was garbage.... best anime of the year? really arkada?
Ping Pong The animation (AOTY).
Maybe not Anime of the Year, but the general audience overall like it a lot.
Exactly, incredibly disappointing mystery story, where the mistery is the most unimaginative and done to death thing they could have come up with. Plus there are the useless and cliche characters which they forgot to develop, and this also ruined the second half of the series. At least it was pretty and sounded nice.
Ping Pong, JoJo, Haikyuu were way better than this, and the fall season is just starting...
Kalapurka People are entitled to their own opinions. If everyone thought the same way the world would be really boring.
Arkada didn't talk about the flaws of the anime.
I don't think it was even AOTS. Nozaki-kun, Barakamon, Sabagebu and Aldnoah Zero were all way more enjoyable than ZnT for me.
Zankyou no Terror 8.1/10 really? 5/10 at best, the show was going around in circles with the whole terrorist theme as just something to draw you in. using terrorism to reveal the government's dealing with making bombs behind close does? thats the most convoluted logic I've ever seen all year. We know everything there is to know about 9 & 12 two eps in and 5 as a villain was too quirky for the show's down to earth setting & she didn't even add anything to the overall story. Shibazaki was the only character that had weigh behind his actions but sadly they took away screentime from him to focus on Lisa was didn't do anything but be the sympathetic token character. The only good about Zankyou was it's soundtrack & animation, which is only dressing on a cake. The story & characters were shrouded in mystery & when you understood the ambiguous answer to both it was unsatisfying.
People saw Watanabe's name attached to a project & go ape shit but in the end it was just another hyped mediocrity.
have you ever heard of opinions?
bbboi90 "have you ever heard of opinions?" yea & I just gave mine
SilverVeil damn he got rekt
I feel like your system isn't very consistent. ZnT should get nearly full marks in animation and sound. Unless your giving it a 1 in story, characters, and enjoyment; I really don't see how that averages out to 5.
Kuramhan well written characters & story takes priority in ranking. Placing importance on animation & sound is a superficial way to judge something since it changes with time ( improvements in technology).
_Thank goodness __Glass Reflection__ recognises a _*_masterpiece_*_ when he sees it. Best anime 2014._
Finally someone else who acknowledges how good this series is!
Precisely
It was definitely good, but not best of 2014 in my opinion
***** If you think this is deep, try watching Tokyo Ghoul without being utterly amazed.
***** Oh, well you get what I'm trying to say then
Ending made me sad :-(
Saidees i felt so sad when 12 died i got so shocked i didnt see it coming and when i finished the episode i felt emptiness
The soundtrack in this anime is one of the best I’ve heard.
The soundtrack devastated me. I was literally sobbing for like an hour because of it (and the ending).
if the names were 9 and 11, the anime would be 9/11
Лёха Яцукнов the names are actually a reference to 9/11, being that it was 9/12 in Japan when the attack happened
Stefan oh shit, that's clever, bc of time zones. I didn't realise that, thanks
Лёха Яцукнов haha np xD
Did anyone pickup on the Oedipus theme? Like seriously.
The oracle at the beginning of Oedipus Rex predicts and ultimately selects the roles of all the characters--most prominently, Oedipus himself. The inevitability of Oedipus 's demise was foretold even before his birth. He would get abandoned by his father, kill him, then marry his mother no matter what.
All of the characters had roles to play--Sphinx, Shibazaki, Five, Lisa, the government, etc. Their actions were almost entirely determined by events in their life they had no control over. Shibazaki's past, Lisa's past, sphinx and five etc.
Everything from beginning to end was something that sphinx knew would happen and ultimately we knew would happen. They would have died--guaranteed. I couldn't imagine an ending where they wouldn't die.
After being drugged during the Athena Plan, them living was sheer luck. They would have died by 18 or so anyway.
And you can't tell me the parallel to Oedipus Rex was unintentional. Watch the anime again beginning to end, with the ending in mind--you'll see a lot more. This tops Cowboy Bebop for me.
Of course we picked up on the Oedipus "theme". The show literally beat you over the head with it lol.
Only if they explained it in detail instead of just finishing it in 11 episodes 😭 😭
I think my biggest problem with the series was Lisa. The other characters weren't perfect, but I just hated the way this series treated her. She was given maybe a little bit of development but most of the things she did were just being sorry for existing. She almost never seemed to have any fun and I understand that was kind of the deal with her. Still I was hoping for something more so I could even somehow care about her.
I always thought Nine and Twelve were interesting, but in the end it didn't even matter. I really liked them but in the end they seemed to be very meaningless and don't even let me get started with Five! At first I was treating her like an actual character but after a while I just gave up. She did make up for some of it in the end, but still was not something worth remembering.
I can't even figure out why I liked the series so much seeing it had characters as bad as this. I just did.
This series could've been so much better with slight changes and better character development I even wish it could be remade. Of course there was more things that annoyed me, but I'll just keep this as short as it can be.
Bye and feel free to comment your opinions about my opinion, I would be happy to read your thoughts! :D
Also what do you think about the chess thing. For me it just felt really strange.
Lanttuliini The chess thing, for me at least, seemed like it was too rushed. It was a good example of why the anime should have been at least 16 episodes long to better develop the plot and characters.
@@LanttuIiini did we really watch the same show
Worst character development ever
Five and lisa were totally rushed imo

I marathoned this right after seeing this video and I loved every minute of this show. It got my adrenalin pumping, my feels out of control, and my face hurting from smiling so much. Everything came together to make something so...beautiful. Yeah there were some things that were not addressed, but I loved experiencing this anime. Thank you so much for recommending this Arkada.
Really liked your set up this video with the lighting/ framing. It is always a nice extra when a youtuber goes to that effort.
After reading people complaining how the show was boring and gave out all the clues immediately and was ruined by superficial, nondeveloping characters, I kinda feel like I didn't watch the same anime with them xD
I mean, people like to stereotype characters way too much. He's like this so he needs to change this much to really be called a change. I think a character doesn't really need to change to grow up a little. Considering this is a series spanning on a very short time-limit, these characters basically have like a month or two to do any sort of development. I got so deeply involved with all the little details and I loved the fact I got it right! It was a wonderful little journey to spend my time on.
SPOILER ALERT POSSIBLY
What's with people criticising the characters? While I personally don't like characters, male or female, who spend their precious screentime crying, what I liked about Misa is she starts kicking her little box apart from the inside when she gets involved with the boys. People who say girls wouldn't go with terrorists are obviously blind to all the teenagers who do get associated with terrorists on daily basis. Plus 12 isn't exactly your everyday terrorist. He's funny and he gives her attention, and the first large chip of her box falls when she decides to trust him. She realises her mistakes only after she makes them, don't we all? And the fact she can laugh and be herself by the end of the summer is developent in my eyes, since she's obviously a depressed girl living with anxiety.
12 is really kind, I think. He's like a smart jock who plays on a different field. He's still a kid and he makes some mistakes along the way. What I really love about him is that he's brave enough to live with his mistakes in the bag. Does he love Misa in a romantic way? Why? Why does everything have to be about sex and romance? Maybe they're on their way there but really, why claim something's there and then call it forced, when it's possibly not there in the first place? She feels she's all alone and has only 12 to depend on, and 12 responds to that, because she's the first friend he's had other than 9. It's obvious he's the type to want friends.
9 on the other hand. He's had most his development already. What's there to develop when you've decided this terrorist thing is what you need to do and you trust your partner infinitely. He's not cold, he's analytical and goal-oriented. He cares for 12 and he cares for the other numbers, even 5.
Now 5. What if her point wasn't to be the antagonist at all? When you think about it, she was left behind by the boys and then she was put in a very wrong environment. She's a kid who has to work with men, and oh, she's not just a kid, she's a girl. I have no trouble seeing why she developed this sort of personality. Her goal? Yes, ruin 9's plan, to beat him. I think she actually just wanted to see him again. Maybe she was annoying but there are tons of similar people everywhere.
Lastly, the story could've been more "entertaining" but it would've lost a lot. It wasn't meant to be an action series. Political series such as this hardly ever get even this much action. It ended a little too soon maybe but that was all. I also think it was obvious from the moment US military came into picture that they didn't care about Japan or Japanese people. I have a real hard time seeing the US military caring about any other country but their own. Then again, I'm not American. And because of this they obviously would do exactly what they did to the boys in the end.
Also, did you actually expect even for a second that terrorists would prevail? That they'd have some sort of happy ending? Normally you'd only pick up body pieces of terrorists. Well, that's how I see it.
+WonderWolf "i just wanted to see my old friend 9 again so i blew up a train, tried to blow up an airport and shot police officers" - 5
+Confuzzled Tomato No, she wanted to beat him.
⚡
i feel like the plot would've been better with more depth
well, the problem wasnt the lack of development but that the characters should all die in a bonfire, together with all the glaring plotholes of this show
I don't know why this anime is underrated and foreseen by fans
Probably because it has the minimal amount of comedy and romance possible. It's not bad to watch something a little more serious once in a while :l
No fan service
That's probably why
S.A.M BROS spot on
that's the reality
This anime is not underrated. It has tons of high ratings despite being a piece of shit. Samurai Champloo is the better anime.
Crono I wouldn't say that, Samurai Champloo tends to be a bit...repetitive. At least this show had a clear plot and no filler. I found myself getting a bit bored just seeing the three from SC just going from town to town, breaking shit and getting into trouble, little to no important or interesting events actually happening.
"Nine" and "Twelve" are not codenames, they are their real, official names as they were test subjects who never knew their real names/were made to forget them. Arata and Touji are aliases. Also, 'Sphinx' is pronounced with a 'p' sound instead of the more commonly-known 'f' sound, as the former specifically refers to Greek mythology and the latter to Egyptian mythology (as mentioned in the series). Please excuse me if your accent is a hindrance in correctly pronouncing it, I am unaware of your circumstances. Thank you, if you accept this constructive criticism.
+Nya Rissa why u even saying this , everybody knows that

reviewer* but yeah not everyone knew
He was trying not to spoil it for people who havent seen it yet, because the meaning of nine and twelve isnt revealed until later
Spoilers, dude. How do you not get he was just trying to cover for spoilers?
I agree BEST ANIME OF THE YEAR! It was so touching and amazing They proved a point showing the world how horrible the government was, and sort of how good it was. They caused no fatalities (except their own ;_;) they only wanted to love a normal life and have a family. 9.76/10
where the fuck did you get have a family? I don't remember any of that.
For me worst of the 7 Anime I watched of this season. My expectations were that it would be first, but no way.
We've got a great plot, awesome animation, but no soul. Shibasaki was the only interesting character, no one else gave me anything, I wouldn't mind if all of them die in the end, because I got no connection to any of this kids. Also this whole story around 5 is completely useless, it makes no sense that after all she did to meet 9 she commits suicide, the whole character doesn't make sense after all.
The anime wanted to be a really big thing, but because of that it forgot to be fun to watch. For real I am watching Kore wa Zombie desu ka right now and I feel closer to this characters than to Nine and Twelve - and that shouln't be.
Bumaye HGW that you don't feel any connection to the characters is a personal problem ( even though many people seem to have this problem) I had no problem to build up a connection to them and empathises with them.
Bumaye HGW
It had soul, and every other character was interesing
Gremory agreed, the only character I didn't feel a connection with was five o-o
New camera is delicious, massively increased your production quality man. Nicely done.
I'm pretty sure those names u showed on 3:00 r false ones, cover-ups. The show said they were never given names and were originally called Nine and Twelve.
All these people are thinking of the anime too low ( This is a pure 10 or 9 ) . This represents terrorism, in real life. No, no land of syrup and ice cream where every character gets saved and everything goes well. There isn't much "luck" pointing at the main protagonists. This is real life, where no matter what you do, or what position you are in, you are not going to be saved. Also, look into the plot more. It explains everything. There is a much deeper explanation to EVERYTHING in this anime. Got any questions about it? Reply down below and I'll answer them! Want a debate? Go ahead!
Charana Mandarins 1. I am currently researching the explanation to this, though, it can't be as simple as "You bastards left me at that experimentation place, revenge, suckers!" 2. They were trying to make the kids smarter, for war, bombs, etc. 3. Dis is gunna be long.. The American government also makes bombs and is also investigating the terriorist attacks among the Japanese. Also 5 was suddenly motivated to seek and ruin 9 and 12's plans.
This is a amazing anime. Only a western idiot will say this anime isnt good. Now im on episode 5. N im loving it
asifur rahman I don't know why everybody hates it.
+asifur rahman Hands down 10/10
+Thai high school girl สวัสดี "Also 5 was suddenly motivated to seek and ruin 9 and 12's plans. " why?? why would the american government put up with her bullshit?

A bit surprised that it didn't get the certified frosty, but I guess that's just my opinion.
I agree! It's one of my faves.
It was good, but not certified frosty good. This is not the type of anime i would say anyone who ever watches anime ever should watch.
DBZHGWgamer I suppose. I enjoyed it very much, especially the ending though , and thought it was one of the best anime that has come out in, like 2 -3 years.

Not to sound pushy or anything, but will you be doing a review of SAO2 as well?
I can envision it now... "it's not shit, but it's still pretty shitty."
blooist Half tempted to screencap this comment and just make a 10 minute video of it moving around the screen to the show's soundtrack.

blooist Gonna be honest, I think it's worse than SAO1.

Very happy to see a full review of this Anime with your new camera. Also, this has been the highest rating I've seen you give one since Clannad and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
I'm really happy you did a video on terror in resonance not many people know about it and it's really underrated because of it
I actually have to agree with GRarkada of this anime being potentially the best of this year, though I haven't watched animes like pingpong yet, which is recommended by many.
Not that I'm claiming that this anime is flawless, but this is perhaps one of these animes that has made a greater impact on me than any other anime I've seen this year so far.
And oh man, Yoko Kanno's compositions is truly breathtaking.
She's my personal asian Mozart of this century ( subjectively speaking ).
9/10 best anime I've seen in a long time. I feel like a lot of people who don't like the anime are the kind of people who watch animes where they get everything spoonfed, This is an anime which tests your mind, or at least should test your mind. I love these animes. The only real problem I had was with Five. She was useful is the first few episodes to set the tone between the USA and Japan, which references to the Occupation and post-Occupation era. If you don't understand the history between the two countries, then you'd most likely not understand that part of the anime AT ALL. But I wish they'd shown us the reason why she wants to beat Nine. It may have flown over my head, but I couldn't even find hints as to why she wants to do that. Other than that, it's a great anime which has to suit your taste in order for you to understand what's going on. As I said before, you'd enjoy the anime a lot more if you are aware of the political state Japan is in right now.
exactly my opinion! People hated the ending because they didn't put some huge text in front of the screen saying ''This , this, and that did things right and this them and the others did things wrongs'' it was open to interpretation and a very solid experience. Especially considering it was only 11 episodes
Thank you..OMG people who think like me...plz don't leave me alone the akame ga kill fans will eat me alive
Yeah, after I watched it, I never realized what kind of things Japan was going through. Was a great eye-opener and for those who know the history, you will enjoy the anime a lot more.
StonedCrackerofHell Yeah I mean I don't blame people if they don't understand it fully. I study Japanese and take classes in Politics and Popular culture in Japan in which we always have to analyze manga and anime. It's really hard XD
Anime that relies on suspension of disbelief so heavily that it's very essence falls apart the second you turn on your brain is not a good anime.
New camera/lighting and what not looks fantastic! Great to see improvements in quality to the already great reviews!
always come to your channel to watch your reviews before actually watching the anime, definitely gonna give this one a watch.
To me Terror in Resonance is a masterpiece, one of the best written and most unique anime I've ever seen.
so you think faulty writing is good? you obviously havent seen many shows or think critically too often...
Very tempted to watch this series now. Pretty sure I'll be marathoning it tonight :)

i tried to but the show is really REALLY dumb
oh yes - just finished that show... it was great! :)
I'd really love to see "monster" reviewed by you!
'cause when you see the background story of nine and twelve,
the background story of johan and anna just popped into my mind...
hadn't seen your reviews in awhile, looks like that you're doing great, digging the reviews.
I agree this is a great anime, way more better than that overhyped Akame Ga Kill, but not the best this year. In fact anime this year has been crap compared to last.
I agree the anime is way to overhyped, someone gets a 10 second flashback of themselves, then they die the next episode. Along with the misplaced comedy, the rushing the villains deaths, unlikable and annoying main character. I don't see what's so great anime fans do this every year with the wrong anime. Almost makes me a ashamed to be an anime fan..
Akame ga Kill isn't overhyped at all. Terror in resonance is just as bad as akame ga kill
LESLIE222333 It is overhyped.
NO how is it overhyped? Barely anyone talks about it except the manga readers. The manga itself doesn't sell well either. Tokyo ghoul manga was selling more and Tokyo ghoul anime was shit. So tell me how it's overhyped?
LESLIE222333 Are you kidding? People never shut up about AgK. Admittedly, I do find it entertaining, but it's nothing more than an edgy fairy tail.
A phenomanal show! I loved every moment of it. So different from pretty much anything I've ever seen. A master piece.
Guess you haven't seen much.
I've seen so much, horror to action. And this is a great anime.
Crono I have watched a lot of anime but I loved zankyou no terror a lot. It's an amazing anime.
i pity you....
You're my fave anime reviewer and every anime you have review that I decided to watch, I loved.... Thank you for all your great reviews :3
You know what dude I think you are frickin awesome. Even if the anime you are reviewing doesn't interest me just watching you is great. Your flare for the dramatic is just perfect all the little flourishes and such you do are just stupendous. I need to get a job just so I can contribute to your patreon.
I feel like if they had killed anyone in the attack, even if it’s justified, this anime would have been way harder to sell to people
It's a series that would benefit immensely if it had 26 episodes as opposed to the rushed 11.
Rushed? It's an anime original.
+ricarleite well for what it was i (personally) cannot complain much
Honestly, I thought they nailed the pacing
I think the pacing was okay, it was just that there wasn't much room for background or other info about the facility (it would've been interesting to learn about the other kids there) And the character development, I feel like most of it was internal. Like you kinda know that they've changed somehow but you don't know how or in what ways, and they didn't change by very much. I don't think it would do better with more than twice as many episodes because it would probably lag, but if they could've extended it by two or three episodes to allow some more of that character development and background reve!ation of the characters, maybe even a better hinting/explanation to that game that five, nine, and twelve were playing.
Look at that new camera, keep up the great work Arkada, quality as always!
love ur new video quality and lighting!! also love ur videos
This anime was stunning. Not only did the directors present likable characters (despite them being terrorists) but Watanabe kept me hooked until the very last moments (which I did not expect in the least) and I was left wanting more.
stunningly stupid, ye
It was the anime of the summer (for me at least).
Episode 9 however, is one of the best episodes I've ever seen!
Arkada, I really love the new "camera" angle you have going on here! It's really cool having the background unfocused, but yet seeing so many amazing anime posters. I've just been waiting for your review to know if Zankyou was worth watching due to a lot of people giving me mixed opinions on their viewing experience, but you have me convinced ^^. I'm off to go marathon, wish me luck!!!
Im really glad that GRArkada is willing to comment on his videos and discuss his review with fans dispite that fact that, being on youtube, there is always going to be haters.
Thanks
new camera?
Jora .Dixon New Camera :)
GRArkada
Very sexy depth of field.
GRArkada nice new camera
GRArkada Could you give me a name?
Can you please review Monster? I loved that show.
It's nice to find other people that seem to enjoy Yoko Kanno's music as much as myself... I had to nod in agreement with you when you passionately declared your liking for most of her music. I remember that when one of my first animes Tenku No Escaflowne was released and I loved loved loved the soundtracks... then Arjuna, Wolf's Rain, Cowboy Bebop, Kids on the Slope, etc. She truly is magnificent. And Terror in Resonance really is a great anime. Thanks for this awesome review. ^___^
The first channel I have seen that does actual reviews. love the vids man!!
I really enjoyed this anime up until the end...
Honestly I felt the ending was kind of unnecessary and it kind of pissed me off (I would say exactly what is was but I'm not going to be that type of spoiler-revealing douche.
But still, I felt the ending might've been a little rushed too.. Just the last episode in general.
That being said I'd still buy it.
Much of the problems, of at least the perceived amplifications of the imperfections, were because this show needed to be minimum 16 episodes in length. Both the chess episode and the finale are good examples of this.
longliverocknroll5
I completely agree.
It makes sense in alot of ways though. All of their actions were bound to catch up to them anyways. Its sad that 9 died the same way 5 did.
Enra Versadi *Spoiler*
Uhh, Nine didn't die the same way Five did. Five set herself on fire and blew up a car.
Same.
When is the week of awesome starting?
Hey Arkada,
Really liking the new backdrop. Keep up the good work :)
wow these vids are edited and put together very very well. congrats sir, my sub shall becoming forth-with lol.
man!! i really wanted to know what you thought of that ending!
same...
In 2014 this was the best anime that I have watched that year. The characters were more human.
Reminder that we don't have much evidence on progression of time but this probably took time in less than a month, so the "character progression" is nonexistent. And Nine and Twelve still being shrouded in mystery at the end, probably makes the show more realistic. You can't learn everything about a person in less than a month much less two characters who know each other so well, they and the other people around them don't need to talk about it that much. Shibizaki was probably one of the best characters and most interesting. I think all the characters had a role, even Lisa if you think she is just a boring one dimensional character. It's really amazing overall and I watched it twice within two months and it was much better the second time.
By far favourite review of this anime! I watched it I think about a year ago and it’s still one of my favourite anime. The only anime I cried at upon viewing it three times. Each time made me cry. The songs used in this really complement all scenes and the actual song ‘Von’ is what moves me to tears. Even hearing it in your review gave me goosebumps. Got the series on blue ray, I would recommend this to anyone. Btw my #1 anime also is Higurashi :) Just started watching your channel tonight and I must say I’m very impressed, keep doing you man! (:
I can really see the difference in quality now that you're using a new camera. Good job, I like it.
Arkada, I couldn't help but notice that you called Twelve Nine at about 4:30
So... you going to review Haikyuu sometimes? Not wanting to sound like you have to do it now or soon because you probably have a lot on your list, but still?
What about Kuroko no basuke or Yowamushi Pedal?
YASSSS
He actually doesn't really find sports animes to be all that interesting, He did do Bamboo Blade, so I am hoping Haikyuu!! one day~ c:
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU SO for introducing me to this anime! I finished the whole series in a couple of days and it quickly became without a doubt one of my favourite anime I have ever watched (not the best necessarily, but regardless, it is still amazing)
And this is a very great review (like all of the ones I have watched) keep doing such a great job!
I always got goosebumps whenever I heard that soundtrack that you played at the beginning. When they're escaping over the fence.
Here is what I personally think.
It was alright, defiantly not the best anime of the year,or even the season,at least in my opinion.
The character's behavior, especially Lisa, was illogical to say the least.she began as a troubled, depressed girl and became a goofy/clumsy girl cooking for a couple terrorists.and her relationship to 12 was very forced.and what kind of girl would want to hang out with a terrorist group anyway? she goes as far as helping them without even knowing their goal, she was just so chill about the fact they they are making and planting freaking bombs
and even worse Five had no purpose on the show what so ever, she was just there to fill in the one dimensional villain role.
***** She was the one who wanted to stay with them and even help them, while 9 wanted to have nothing to do with her.
being stupid is one thing, but this is just bad writing.
Abdou Mazo That wasn't even the half of it either. The main focus of the show, Nine and Twelve, had next to NO characterization at all. How can I get invested if I barely know the main characters? If I can't get invested, how am I supposed to care? Since I didn't care, the ending had no impact on me. The ending didn't reveal anything shocking or had any twists either, it just confirmed stuff that the audience already easily figured out 6 episodes prior to it.
***** Sorry ,that was a typo I wanted to say " she was the one"
by stupid and bad writing I'm talking about Liza's character.
Keten Zima Yeah,Orphanage/human experiment/revenge .... so original.....I can even say it was obvious where the show was going since the first episode.
***** No problem.I didn't make my self clear.
Could you review toradora it's the first anime that's a romantic comedy which I've liked
Dude, why do I find these videos so entertaining. I don't understand what it is about you, but I like it. "I like your style".
Loved your review as usual. I was wondering if you were going to review watamote eventually. Anyway can't wait for next review ;)
Am I the only one that noticed that he said 9 instead of 12 on 4:32? XD
I was just looking for this comment
On a more light hearted note has anyone watched Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun ?
It was awesome in my opinion! It was all it needed to be and suprisingly every episode made me laugh. It had been a long time since I'd laugh while watching anime. I don't even think I've ever laughed at a comedy anime because they're usually not funny. This anime made me have a lot of fun so I'm happy about that! :D
I agree whole heartedly! I found it great how they reversed the gender roles of shoujo anime. I cried laughing at the part where they played the dating sim lol
Your jacket is so much more vibrant with the new camera
Video quality is noticeably better. Awesome you're in 1080p now :)
I finished this anime today. It's really good, even though the ending made me sad. But I'll probably watch it all again.
I keep finding myself comparing this to Death Note because it's atmosphere is so dark, am I wrong to make this comparison?
:0 no I was thinking the same thing. It's two smart guys causing trouble to send a message and the police trying to stop them, kinda like death note.
Glad to see another review Arkada and a positive one, its always nice for a change of pace.
Now that Space Dandy is done, I think we finally need that review of it.
Any thoughts on Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun?
Awesome~ :)
Better then this at least :)
My favorite of the summer season!
You got something wrong @4:32. It wasn't nine. It was twelve
Your videos take a long time to come out but it's probobly since all the editing and time it takes to watch the animes and it's all worth it. The quality of your videos are phenomenal as well as enjoyable. Your reviews are reasonable as well as helpful. Anyways don't work yourself too hard mate. As always keep up the good work :)
This show tore me into a million pieces and one year after watching it I still show no sign of recovering
"No correlation between this show and 9/11" this is what I thought of at first.
After I gave it some thought, I thought the ending couldn't be more perfect. Everyone got closure (except Lisa maybe?). Nine & Twelve completed their quest and Shibazaki caught them and carried their legacies in court and exposed it to the media. Great way of showing the political conspiracies and governmental intrusion in not only Japan but also US. I like how the US forces intruded last minute. Truly shows how it is in real world concerning nuclear forces. Everyone wants a BANGING ending but if you think about it this couldn't be more perfect. It started perfect and had its highs and lows in the middle but it ended perfectly. Definitely my top 2 anime so far this year. :)
The ending was completely shocking. I was so depressed. I was on my period too so I was 10× more sad than I would be.
The review week of awesomeness is cool, but I'd personally love the 210,000 subscribers live stream! I missed a third of the first half when It was on, and I'd love to see it all the way through. Plus, with so many new people, I'm sure they'd like some of their burning questions answered. You already have gaming streams up, so would it be that hard to get it going? Mind you, this is coming from a guy who couldn't make it to the podtaku Q&A, so I really just want something to fill that void.
let me guess, the one thing that survives all these terror attacks
a fucking highschool!
well yes, but if you seen the anime you would know that they where targeting certain building that had to do with a corporation. I will not spoil the rest if you haven't seen it, because this anime is amazing to spoil.
This show is quite different from what you think. It's one of those shows that despite having a high school student it would work regardless of the medium. What I'm trying to say is the characters are young because the story is about youth being influenced into taking terrorist action so they NEED to be young.
Nicolas Villegas i know what it is
I was just joking how every anime feels to the need to be set in a highschool
I'm still in the process of completing this anime, but I really admire the bold step the creator took. Terrorism is such a touchy subject to press on, and I really love the idea of "looking through the terrorists eyes." I also like the fact that Nine and Twelve aren't completely cold hearted people(at least that's what I've found so far), over all I do agree, this anime has already placed itself on a high pedestal in my heart
what bold step? those supposedly smart characters are too stupid to be realistic and see someone could get hurt when they use explosives.
loved you review, once I finished watch this anime I've been checking UA-cam everyday waiting for this :D awesome job ^_^
Review Tokyo ghoul
^this
That anime is also a MASTERPICE and next year there's going to be a second SEASSON of that anime HELL YEAH TOKYO GHOUL GREATNESS :)
he said on twitter he wouldn't
Kelvin Marinez the anime is fucking garbage. Read the manga
Jon Brown agree with you completly, as a manga reader i really dislike the anime as they cut complete arcs out of the story thus screwing up character development that in the manga is much better done, in the anime he does a 180 turn regarding personality and fighting skills when in the manga you have a whole training arc showing how that happened
THUMBS UP IF YOU WANT GRArkada to review FMAB, XD
Nice background Arkada, I really like it!
Hay Arkada. Do you think you can do a review on "dusk maiden of amnesia" I'd like to know your thoughts on the show. If you haven't seen it I really recommend it!
At least Lisa assume that she is just a useless character that is a death weight to other characters. Other useless anime characters don't admit. That's rare. 🤣
😂😂lol
