its crazy how many people havent seen this, i struggle to find an anime that pulled me in like this did. . .
It's made by the same production company as eden of the east. Classics in history. They are.
I watched this anime for the first time years ago and I just finished rewatching it.
Although it has its flaws like not enough episodes which creates lacking background exposure, it's overall a very good anime.
The soundtracks which are mostly composed by Yoko Kanno are amazing. Even not watching it, I have always remembered the mood of the anime which is great because it's super important, especially to my personal interest. The story is very interesting and I love the characters.
I don't get why people hate Lisa so much, just like you said, she's just a high school girl living through bullying and an abusive mother. She's a broken character and reflects what the children from the facility used to look like (like 12 mentioned) hoping for someone to take them out of their suffering, to save them, to run away somewhere. She's just a normal human being broken by life, so calling her "useless" is pretty insensitive IMO.
The motorcycle scene is indeed a mood
The song from the motorcycle scene is how I found this anime! My friend had it playing in the car one night and when he told me who the artist was I had to look them up. It quickly became on of my favorite series and have recommended it quite a lot. Thank you for covering it! I’m surprised how few videos there are about it and it makes me a little sad
I just finished this anime last night and I cried for two whole hours on the last two episodes of the way they showed the atomic bomb and when 12 died because all they wanted was a happy life
Honestly what truly got me was the ferris wheel scene. With the dark colors and the song that plays with it while 12 has an ultimatum is just so much to take in
My feelings on this series has definitly become complicated. Christmas morning 2020 a bomber announced that he would set off an explosion in my city in 15 minutes. It destroyed several streets and felt like it shook all of downtown. After the year we had with covid and the tornados we were desperate to have a good Christmas. Luckily no one died. But it was an evil thing to do because he accepted that chance that there could have been fatalities. They becomes much less sympathetic when it's your city on fire.
This is my favorite anime of all time and it got me sobbing at the ending, I didn’t see it coming since beforehand it was so happy. The character design is so simple but so good and I was always liked Lisa so much. I wish there were more episodes since they didn’t really get into some of the background but I don’t see it ending any other way, I was rooting for 12 and Lisa thought the episodes😞

What is tldr
I'm gonna write some theories and all I know about the anime. There will be spoilers.
12 and 9 called themself sphenx. So according to story sphenx asks questions to oidipus. Then oidipus kills his father. In last scene 12 and 9 call the detective guy "oidipus". And he helps them to be remembered. And help them to punish the old men who made the experiments. And these old men are related to government so they are symbolicly dad of police detective. He answer sphenx's (12 and 9) questions and kill his dad (government)as being methaphoricly the oidipus. Also the games answer was his name. Because he is oidipus. Also the birds are the kids who die in experimenys. And anime is actualy a politic critism for corrupt japan goverment. It criticizes the truth that japan is actually an old country. Everything is up to old people because there is a lot of them. And also it says japan is not indipendent in anime at a moment. Got it? I guess it means japan is still effected by America. It is actually low key really politic. And someone sade in a comment of anime 5 came at fifth episode, at 9th episode 12 do something bad to 9. And there is no 12nd episode cuz 12 died. Also a comment says Lisa exist because they want to show a character that remember our poor guys. I really liked the anime. It was deep. Sorry for my flawed English. Thank you for reading.

Hmmm if you like terror in resonance you might enjoy erased. It's not about terrorists or anything but it's 12 episodes and a really good anime

@@tooterp but terror in reasonance, there's something about it.. that I haven't seen in other animes I've watched, the girl and that guy who was a biker, their relationship, it was something that has been gathered from broken world.

I haven't seen monster lol, I just saw similarities on how they both paced out suspense and story reveals. I've heard I need to check out monster tho 😅
Because death note is a better comparison than Monster, mood/vibe/tone wise.
