I can't look at empty chairs in the same way again.
MagicalPouchOfMagic empty chairs at empty tables.... now my friends are dead and gone....
I just mentally sing "uninstall uninstall" and smile.
If you ever see Madoka Magica, pay attention to the empty chairs.
🙄
seeing the circle get emptier with each fight makes the deaths so much more impactfull
Running away isn't an option...
Well s%$t. Shinji got it easy then.
Bokurano was one of my all-time favorite shows. It does deserve more credit than it gets; I've only heard one person talk of it ever. Besides you, that is.
Same here. This anime is still my all time favorite. It's opening is still my favorite opening to an anime ever. This show really needs more attention because the content it holds is marvelously well done in my opinion.
Colton Cameron True dat, brodawg.
Another not so well known show that you might like is 'Welcome to the NHK'
I think besides dying Bokurano wanted to show us that hiding from your problems won't solve a thing and you better off facing them even though you know it will be too hard to handle.
the video started buffering right after he said
"I'll give you a moment while drinking this tea"
UA-cam KNEW
The internet went out for me around that point.
TheBlackBloodNinja this is some serious shit
Wow
Did anyone else actually stop the review and watched the entire fucking show before resuming? Or was I the only one afraid he might spoil something later in the show so I watched it in it's entirety?
I did that but read the manga instead...
I've watched the intro now probably 5 times, I've searched many many places over the past 6 or 7 months to be able to find this series legally to be able to finish this review.
I'm now 3 episodes from the end, and I won't finish watching the review until I've finished the series :).
Woo finally able to see it, I probably didn't need to wait until watching the whole thing, probably episode 4 or 5 would have been fine, but glad it's finally over :).
Does the anime adapt the entire manga? Or does it have a "read-the-manga-ending"? Should I read the manga or just watch the show?
SAMOSA Salad Just watch the show and the ending isn't read the manga
And then you realize the director hated the manga's guts because it was too bleak (yes, _even more bleak_) and gave the anime his own twist to make it not as depressing. Honestly, *read the manga*.
And I was sure those chairs in Madoka's room were a reference to something, I just had no idea what. Thanks Arkada :D
Damn, I actually remembered Bokurano inmediately the second I saw that scene in Madoka Puella Magica. In the other hand, I knew they changed the manga a little bit because it was over the top at some points, specially the abusive relation between Ushiro and Kana, if you hated Ushiro in the anime, in the manga you would hated him even more. Won't spoil anything but in the manga there's nothing positive to give you at least a feeling of relief, after all.
@@van-hieuvo8208 haven't watched the anime yet but I have read the manga and I honestly don't get the hype. I gave the manga a 5 because it honestly doesn't deserve more in my opinion. It's like a trashy and more edgy version of Evangelion.
the manga is edgy as fuck. Im glad the anime existed with different paths.
@@orthodoxjimmy Evangelion is utter trash. An incoherent incomplete mess from a guy with psychological issues, a studio running out of money and not willing to allow director's original ending. Random religious symbolisms, zero likeable characters. At least it had good animation and soundtrack.
So that's why there were so many chairs in Madoka Magica...
Yup! The chairs in episode 9 are a callback to Bokurano, which was a nice touch. Somebody at Shaft was clearly a fan.
Yeah there are evil behind cute animals also.
What about uta kata? it has the same premise as madoka but its made in 2004..
a really underrated anime...
fortunately, you picked this gem and did an excellent job on reviewing it!
Crunchyroll has Bokurano now ^_^
Only in some countries and territories, unfortunately T-T
Discotek license it now
I already tremble in rage whenever I see Kyubey...
I don't think I'll be able to handle Dung Beetle...
the person on your profile picture also Trembles in rage at Kyubey.
This is true.
EpicNinjaGamer :P
+EpicNinjaGamer if you watched the show i bet you probably raged over dung beetle...... didn't you?
Arnaldonintendo Haven't seen Bokurano yet. I've been meaning to though.
I liked this anime a lot! I did not expect at all what was going to happen in the next episode!
I really appreciate how the characters were designed to look like background characters. I think that it was a conscious decision by the studio to make them diverse, but nothing special because that's exactly what everybody in the world is. It adds to the realness of the scenery in my opinion.
Arkada the guy that mentions Anime no one has ever heard of and than tells you wtf are you waiting for go watch it. And than your like fuck how did I miss this Anime? Why haven't I heard of it?
true..true...
Arkada could you review shinsekai yori ? Its my all time favourite
I stopped after the initial spoiler warning and went and watch all 24 episodes, I only kept watching it past the first few because I had seen the rating you gave it Arkada. I really enjoyed it! But has any one else noticed a lot of Anime is hard to get into? I almost stopped watching it after the first two it takes a while for the Characters to really hook you in but when they do...WOW! I loved it. Its not the first Anime that I've been rewarded for sticking with it. It seems to be a theme with the Anime's I choose to watch.
Huh, impressed you review this.
This has always been among the animes I personally regard higher than many others, yet it oddly seemed to go unnoticed for a long while.
Glad you reviewed it, so more can know of its existence.
It really deserves it.
Finally someone who's reviewed this piece of depression
I still get chills when I listen to the opening. It is such an incredible story, and it parallels with Madoka in such a big way. I watched Madoka before Bokurano and I nearly crapped myself as I started to notice all of these alarming parallels between the two anime series when I did get to Bokurano. Truly a masterpiece.
+Rayne Kerrigan
I've got to say though, if I had to choose between contracting with the Incubators or Koyemushi (or whoever he works for, I've only seen up to episode 15 so far), I'd choose the Incubators every time, and that's saying something.
Okay, but you guys, after watching this there is something that hasn't yet become clear to me. And I'm going to put a giant SPOILER WARNING here, so people are welcome to discuss this.
So. The premiss is that these higher beings controlling everything is doing the robot-tournament-thing to a lot of unrelated earths, yet every battle is connected to the pilot's story arc. For example we have the first battle of Kirie where the other robot self-destructs, much like his mother who decided to take her life (although she failed).
Moji's fight was a psychological battle where he fought two robots, connected by one cockpit, which turned out to be a fake. This cockpit, representing the girl both Moji and his friend loved, was not the robots weak point: the real cockpit was in only one of them, representing that these boys could not both live since they only had one heart.
Masaru (the second pilot (and the little shit)) wanted to destroy as much of the city as possible so that his father could earn more money. Interestingly enough, the other robot was trying it's best not to destroy anything.
I could go on, but no one wants to read this much. The question here is why the story arcs connect with the battles. It seems unlikely that this is a coincidence, and though it may have been deliberate from the creators to showcase the psychology, it seems too intentional to be only poetic. If anyone have an answer or opinion, that would be great :)
it's called symbolism
@@gavinbowen1308
Nah not really, do you not know what symbolism means lmfao
@@jamesa.646 or maybe YOU'RE wrong... hmmm...
@QuincyLovesAngryBirds
If thats symbolism, then why does my mom hate me?????
i know i am 6 years too late , but you are just imagining things.
the moji fighting 2 robots is an anime only fight , in the manga moji's fight foreshadows a rule in the manga that the anime didn't want , being that the death of the figher , unless by the enemy , will not count as a loss , they removed that so kirie's opponent can self destruct and he gets another turn which was never in the manga (honestly that arc was so childish in the anime , manga kirie is more mature and smart and that arc was very deep and criticized the viewer and you should read it)
Did not like the fact that Madoka's plot was spoiled. I have watched it but many may not have. A warning would be nice next time.
He fucking said there would be fucking spoilers, fuck are you fucking deaf?
He said there were spoilers for Bokurano. NOT MADOKA. Think before you comment.
Blazingredfire13 YADAYADA CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE.
But seriously, dude. :l Don't feed the trolls.
Watch, this a-hole is gonna come back and try to argue with you for the sake of arguing just because you defended yourself.
Live and let live, and pick your battles, yo.
Ted Ontko Its fun to argue with idiots to make them realize just how stupid they actually are.
Blazingredfire13 But makes us on the outside show how petty you are needing to make someone feel stupid :/
Very glad that someone decided to critique this show and also do it justice. Bokurano is easily one of my favourite anime and I agreed with absolutely everything you said in this, it was also good having you actually explain the difference between Kyubey and Koemushi. The show is a little hidden treasure.
He sould do this more offten, there are a lot of good-great animes that no one talks about, I didn't even know of baccano until I saw him and giguk talk about it. I have watched bokurano years ago so seeing him review made me a bit happy. Not the best but still worth checking
100% agreed. There are so many shows that go unseen, mostly due to non-cutesy/pretty animation which is where Bokurano definitely falls in to. I would love for someone to do Tokyo Magnitude. It is definitely within my top3 and to see the underappreciated shows get the limelight is fantastic.
I think kyubey is worser, Koemushi is terrible, but he doesnt pretend otherwise.Kyubey does pretend a contract is great, and lies, yes half trues to avoud the truth are lies.
Nearly on the end, the storytelling is amazing and the pacing lures you in the sad drama of that twists like a knife in your heart. Especially if you know how it will end. And they still fight its amazing.
You should review Psycho Pass next.
I second that. Saw his first impressions on it, hope he gets to review it soon
Can I just say thank you so much! This was the first time I'd ever heard of Bukurano and was so intrigued by your review that I immediately watched it all and now it's been at the top of my favorite animes ever list since then!
THANK YOU ARKADA!! I've been looking for this show since I saw it's opening almost a year ago. This is why your awesome (well this a a lot of other stuff).
Hopefully this series will receive more attention after its released for DVD next year. Its just baffling how little there is about it out there in the internet.
Ok, Watch Kokoro Connect! This anime was brilliant, and to my knowledge, completely underrated. No one talks about it or has heard about it from what i've seen. Basically it's an anime that had a similar fate to Bokurano. Please give it a look see, it's only 16 episodes long
17 episodes
Final someone talking about this anime. It's amazing :D
*bump*
(not that that does anything here >.>)
Great review as always, I look forward to your next recommendations!
Thank you, Arkada. Please do show this amount of dedication and concern in the future.
I loved dung beetle
I loved because I hated it
It needs power for you to hate a fictional character. If we can hate the guy that is a dick it means he has done a good job
Like the joker from batman
The characters really feel like supportive characters from other animes
The anime feels very depressing
Few anime made me feel sad but this one bets them all
I found the anime from the mobile game geometry dash
There was a level
Level had a music
I tracked it and it was an adaptation from the anime's intro music
What? Never played it, but it has level music that's an adaptation of this OP?
+Sam Geuvenen There's a cover of Uninstall by Hatsune Miku in the game.
Nice use of punctuation m'lad
Armada, I swear if this anime gets licensed because of the review you made, I will give you money.
Gotta say man thanks alot for making content your the most reliable out of any anime reviewer :)
So glad to see this show reviewed! It is seriously underrated to the point I just feel like no one even bothers to watch or find out about it. Thank you for going back to talk about a forgotten gem like this one. Like you said, I also really love the OP and EDs. Particularly, 'Little Bird' in particular gives me chills every time I listen to it!
It's easy to see how this wonderful anime got passed over by all the deconstruction genre fans. Like you said, the characters are hard to describe and the story itself is VERY dark and depressing. It's a shame so many people will miss out on this adventure of 15 (if i remember correctly) children. Thanks for the review and love your work.
If i may suggest, please bring out lost animes like this from time to time. It's greatly appreciated.
trash taste podcast sent me to watch this
Dude your reviews are getting more awesome every time!
Oh my gosh! I did not expect a major reviewer to find this anime! I watched it a few years ago and I liked it a lot, but I was sure it was long gone. Thank you for the awareness boost haha ^_^
The spoiler doesn't really spoil all that much. This is an AWESOME series! worthy of certified frosty. Watch it even if you watched the spoiler.
Agreed, I watched the whole review before watching the show, and I don't feel I was spoiled.
This series made me cry like a little bitch way too many times. Well done.
ditto
Thank you Arkada for this. I personally just finished watching this show, and the beginning of your review made me laugh so much that I wasn't depressed anymore. You rock.
A day and a half later... I am back. Definitely deserves the rating you gave it there. Man, you really do get a sense of hopelessness and despair throughout the whole experience. Definitely worth the watch.
*logs in*
*Sees Arkada reviews a favorite anime that I've been dying for it to be reviewed ever since I've first watched it*
*Screams*
This show is so underrated I don't understand why! It's so depressing and so good!
Here's to make it easier, If you like Evangelion then you will most likely love this. Thank you Arkada for making this review you've made me find a new favorite.
I concur! I love this series as well as Evangelion, I think you will like Ergo Proxy or even Serial Experiment Lain
Bokurano has been on my to-watch list for a while. You know what, I'll follow your advise and go and watch it now before continuing the review.
I can't watch the opening for Bokurano without crying. The one shot of the character running through the field as the music peaks gets me every time. It's some really powerful imagery and symbolism.
Not gonna lie my first impression of this was "oh gee another mech anime how original (sarcasm)" but when I started watching it I was blown away.
Read manga, forgive dung beetle.
Anime dung beetle is arse and he can die in a fire, manga dung beetle is a much nicer guy.
He isn't that much nicer, it's just he has a 'reason'
And he makes the ending, really
And he makes the ending, really
Hes not as much of a dick in the manga at least not later on, and became much more supportive of the last few characters.
Anime dung beetle wouldnt have done what manga dung beetle did in the end.
I've been waiting for you to review this for a long time this anime is awesome!
Thanks tons for the advance review will watch it for sure then come back to see the rest of your reviews, which totally rock. They are the only ones I take seriously and appreciate your work. Will always make sure to click any affiliate links that help you out when I buy stuff for sure. You and your fiancee do such a professional job. I too am horrible with grammar, spelling and am totally OCD. My daughter, she is 14 I am 34 both love your reviews. Props from Houston, Texas.
Can you PLEASE review Mawaru Penguindrum? I'ts actually one of the most critically acclaimed anime of 2011 ( but it's extremely overlooked due to the more popular anime that came out in 2011)
I just finished it today. It was so good! Definitely a very thought-provoking and unique anime. Arkada, acquire the Penguindrum!
"I'll give you a second as I drink some tea..." at this time is when the decision is difficult to make. Do I watch the semi-spoiler review? Or do I watch a show highly recommended by Arkada then watch his review? Hm.......
Hah, yeah I spent about a week with it paused right there. But in the end I couldnt find any way to watch it (legally) lol.
Quinton238 Its unlicensed. In that case I think a fansub is acceptable. In scenarios like this, I watch a fansub, then purchase it if it becomes legally possible to do so in the future. No sense in losing out on great content just because it is inaccessible in our country.
relyat89 Yeah that's what im going to end up doing, of course I have plenty of other things to watch first though :)
I trust your verdict to fit my own tastes enough to go ahead and watch it right away. Thank you Arkada, for all of your splendid anime reviews and your fantastic taste in anime
I read and watched Shadow Star: Narutaru. Knowing this is from the same author, I need to mentally prepare for the feels and the existential crisis that comes with it. His writing gives you chills, good ones. It's an experience everyone should take once
well fuck GRArkada when you said what anything that could go wrong will go wrong... on episode 6 figured out what you truly meant...
okayyy... first im going to watch this anime than im coming back
proxer.me
DerBegginBlue
I go on kissanime
So what did you think?
Hahaha i'm finally back
It's good but not super good...
But i would say If you wanna watch a death game anime than watch Bokurano
finally i'm done watching this and holy god what a hidden gem i had never heard of it before and i thank arkada for bringing it up it really had these things that u don't se very often what a masterpiece
I don't usually leave comments on UA-cam videos, but I feel compelled to tell you that I genuinely enjoy watching your reviews. I think you're a very dynamic reviewer, and the amount of thought and effort you put into your reviews is evident. You have excellent energy and I've watched some anime series just based on your recommendation.
How will I be able to watch this anime? I can't stream, I can't buy it. So now I'm drooling to see this
touching stories and all, but the mech fights felt superficial. I know characters couldnt really gain experience to make it look cool because after they end with the first they just....die, but i wish they gave each fight a full episode.
Thank you arkada, I have found this gem from you. Bokurano will forever be etched in my mind.
Wow, this is the first anime you have reviewed in ages that I haven't already heard of. Thanks so much. 😁. I'll have to go look for it.
Well. I trust you Arkada, I tend to agree with you, so with only the first 1 min of this video seen, I've added another anime on my what to watch list. Thanks
If only I could subscribe to you twice...
Certified Frosty and recommendations towards two animes I love? This shit must be fantastic.
I'm glad someone finally shed some light on this show. Definitely one of my favorites!
The way he talks is reminiscent of Hank Green from Crash Course
Jotaku27 That may be why I like the way he does reviews.
Some of the stuff that happens in the source material makes me super glad the anime ended the way it did.
yeah I like the anime more than the manga. The anime feels like more of quality over quantity.
Love your reviews, Im gonna check Bokurano out soon. I would love to see a Lucky Star review as you mention it so much in your videos, and actually would be interesting to see you review it
Bokurano has been a personal favorite of mine for quite a while. I'm happy to see it's finally getting some recognition, it really deserves more attention. :)
Bokurano is on Crunchyroll
What would Shinji do in this situation?
I musn't runaway, I musn't runaway, I musn't runaway (repeats ten times) then proceeds to run away
Well he said running away wasn't an option so I guess he'd just cease to function.
The Shadow Ampharos I laughed so hard.
Dewayne C yeah because ,well ,like the viewers of show say , there is NO way back or out , this is even darker than evangelion for fuck sakes,
kingpiccolo colin really?
freaking really? there is no such thing as "darker then evangelion"
I really enjoy your reviews. They are pretty accurate and makes me want to watch the shows. As a not mother-tongue speaker I am also quite happy that you speak not too fast and easy to understand.
Good to know that I'm not the only one in the world who has seen this series...truly, a gem that literally no one seems to know about...also, great review, loved it, as with all your reviews.
Read the manga, and I couldn't stop reading it. One of the few manga I've spent an all -nighter on. At first I was torn about reading it. Honestly the mangaka is the biggest child abuser through his plot's I have ever read. I straight up stopped reading another of his/her works because of how disgusted I got. However, jeez the mystery in this work, the execution, and the absolute mayhem and questions made it impossible to stop. I would leave to hear if watching the anime ontop reading the manga would be a good idea if anyone has done both.
Also side note and maybe spoilers?: I really just can't bring myself to hate dung beetle. His arcs in the manga were some of the most well executed though for most of it you do hate him quite a bit, but by the end of it I actually became pretty emotionally dead and began to sympathize with him a bit. One of the surprising things about the manga that wrapped up at the end.
I just read the whole thing in one night and I have to say that I absolutely loved some of the lessons it had to share!
I would love to see you do reviews of some older shows, to see exactly what you think of them. You know like Ghost in the Shell, Fullmetal Alchemist, Code Geass, Trigun, Akira, Welcome to the NHK, etc. Oh yeah and check out Katanagatari, It's a brilliant show done by White Fox, who also did Steins;Gate, although they made Katanagatari first. Between those 7(2) you should find something to your liking.
More people need to watch Katanagatari. It's also worth mentioning that the source material for Katanagatari is by the same author as the Monogatari series.
Yup, It's pretty freaking awesome.
don't forget about berserk, god knows that show needs some love, and he can review the movies if he wants to do something more recent
Wolf Pytlak I think all of the anime adaptations are quite flawed, though. The manga is definitely where Berserk shines, and that still hasn't been finished.
i think the perfect adaptation would be one like hellsing's ovas, that follows the manga strictly, and because it's an ova, there's no need to censor/restrict anything
My god thank you. Thank you so much. This is my absolute favorite anime and it really deserves to be talked about more. I agree with just about everything you said. Hopefully now more people will seek it out and it can get the dub it deserves.
Just finished episode 12. Thank you arcada, I will continue to watch it in the near future. It's a jem indeed.
So I was just reading through your explanation of the rating system when I noticed a very.. intriguing.. ad. Right next to your GLASS reflection banner I got an ad for glass bottles ._. Was it coincidence ? Or a way bigger and maybe even malicious plot ? Iluminati ? Templars ? Or just that strange guy who apparently lives in the subway. We may never know...
you know too much ...
your review was on point .. i just finish the show and it was awesome ... a little bit sad but awesome show
tomorrow the zearth is here .. who is making the contract?
come on guys, i need 15
So I get to blow things up right? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY LIFE FORCE
Animemaster88 BLOW THINGS UP? THAT'S ALL YOU THINK ABOUT? YOU GET TO FUCKING PILOT A GIANT ASS ROBOT WITH LASERS! SIGN ME UP!
2, we need 13 more
Hm, gonna try and recruit my friends.
Bokurano is easily one of my favorite anime series. I came upon it by chance but until now it still has a place in my heart even though it's a sharp contrast to other mecha animes I've watched.
thank you for introducing me to this show absolutely love it
Hey Arkada, I would REALLY REALLY like to know which score you would give to Madoka magica, I know you said you won't give scores to your old shows, but please just reply to this comment.
I would imagine it's in the same ballpark of all of his other "Certified Frosty" reivews. Unless I'm mistaken he really enjoyed the series.
Avalonian Knight
I think he did but still... I would like to know what score he would give It...
I don't know the score, but he did say to buy it as part of his final verdict so he definitely enjoyed it.
that was a complete awesome start :P lol
Awesome recommendation! Nothing can ruin this week for me now after seeing this.
Thanks Arkada for replying to my question on Tuesday.
I thought this was the best way to say thanks since you were concentrating on Cards Against Humanity and I did not want to risk you missing my gratitude in the chat.
Once again, Thanks
Thumbs up if you ignored his warnings
Thumbs up if you were smart (like me, huehuehuehue) and didn't.
I cried at the Family arc with that dude that looks way too old for his age.
And honestly, that boy had the heart of a Hero within him!
+René Hauptmann I cried at the Family arc with the girls whose baby brother was born. Like, that's just too much.
Yes the saddest episode to me😢
+Katelyn Pringle I cried at the arc of that blonde from near the end of the series.
@@katelynpringle5506
i cried at both
I watched your review (not having watched the show) and thought sounds interesting. I have just watched the first 5 episodes and I love it and am totally hooked awesome review as always GRArkada Keep up the awesome work =D
I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND THIS VIDEO FOR YEARS!!! I couldn't remember the anime name, and I am so glad I found this now.
All Quiet on the Western Front with elementary school kids... Genius...
I'm really wondering why nobody talks about bokurano or why it seems nobody watches it when the opening theme has 700k views on youtube and a million for the PV.
** SPOILER**
I stopped reading the manga after a 12 year old girl gang raped by her teacher and his friends. Not my cup of tea ;)
You will be surprised how easily people ignore a anime due to a certain characteristic. Kingdom is ignored for its cg and shinsekai is ignored for its homo sexual content, Bokurano is a bleak, mecha, with so so graphics, good enough reasons for some to ignore the anime. Just enjoy the fact that you are the lucky few that actually watched the anime.
whartanto2 13* lmao
I think around 200k of those views are me, I fucking love that opening.
This show doesn't have little girls with rainbow colored hair or anything memetic. That's probably the issue. It's a very serious and bleak show.
Thanks for giving the final verdict first! Will need to come back once I watch the series.
Great job man. Thank you for giving me good anime to watch! Keep it up!!!
i cried so much watching this anime god damn this is so perfection
yea i can see what you mean. im 10 episodes in and really fell bad for a couple of them. daiichi's death was by far the most undeserving then the ones before him. i really felt sorry for him and his siblings, but some of them im glad they died actually. they were complete dicks.
the characters that stand out for me is the fat kid, chizu, maki, ushiro, anko and machi those were my stand outs in the show god damn maki i feel so bad for you
Just finished watching Bokurano. Thanks, Arkada! Yeah, Daichi's death hit me pretty hard too I liked Kirie and the detective kid too (the one who had his heart transplanted to his friend). On that note, there were times when Dung Beetle could feel generous, like when he granted Daichi's and detective kid's last requests. He also conceded to his sister into letting Kokopelli gather another 15 pilots before his next battle. However, I'm more inclined to believe that he did this so that he either wouldn't feel guilty, or so that the other pilots wouldn't be uncooperative.
Arkada why not review fma brotherhood and original together?!
Is that series any good?
sithconsole it is but well. i think a lot of shows are far better. typical shonen just does not stand out
I was literally just thinking about Arkada doing a FMA review haha primarily brotherhood but it would be cool to see a double review
sithconsole It is most definitely good. FMA Brotherhood is personally my favorite anime of all time. Though it may not become your favorite I am sure you would still really enjoy it. Take heed, it is 64 episodes long
dannyboy765ify
Alright, well I have seen it myself and I agree it is good! I am just trying to make the point that if you guys think it is so good, why do you need arkada to tell you that? I'm just wondering why because everyone asks him to do a review for it.
Because you are my favorite anime reviewer, I'll trust you and watch it. God this feels like a blind date.
Whoa I randomly check and find a new video released but 5 minutes ago. Sweetness.
. . . and now I have to wait 5+ hours to finish watching it. Well played, Arkada.
Hey Ark maybe you review got someone's attention, because it getting an American release next year
It is? That's awesome. This is one of the most underrated shows I've seen, so I'm glad that this got it the attention it needed.
yeah here is the news www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2014-09-05/discotek-adds-samurai-troopers-bokurano-comic-party-3rd-lupin-iii-tv-special/.78423
Isn't that so cool? The way a little publicity like this might have been a push in the right direction, and now it's been licensed and available for purchase. One of those things that make social media so neat.
FaizeofMist Considering the amount of views and subscribers Arkada has, his recommendation probably carries a lot of weight. It wouldn't surprise me if this review got over a thousand of people to go watch the show that otherwise wouldn't have heard of it, thus creating a demand for it to be licensed in the west.
I'm glad I went off and watched it before seeing this review because it was totally worth it. But one thing I'd like to mention is even though you did describe it as 'bleak,' I don't think that quite does the show justice on just how freaking sad it is. Like, I don't know if it was just me, but I cried more at this show than I have at any other anime. (Seriously, screw episode 11, I had to go take a break just to stop sobbing after that sadfest.)
I'm very glad that you review this anime. It was one of my favorite mangas to read.
Thank you for reviewing this series; it deserves more recognition than it gets. It really made me sad watching this show, but I really enjoyed all of it. To anyone who has seen it, I would also recommend the manga (some big differences in the Dung Beetle there), as well as Shadow Star Narutaru which is by the same artist and shares a melancholy feeling as well.
