  • Track day outtake. Here's one for the fans! No commentary on this one, just a couple of my powerslides, lots of exhaust noise, and an exterior drive by in one lap of The Ridge Motorsports Park in my GT4. Enjoy!

      +PB Jelly Thanks Jerry! Hope your car is back together soon and you can hit the track again. The Miatas are killer at The Ridge in the right hands.

      You're right. I think it activates in Sport or Sport plus mode...still sounds very cool though!

    awesome video. Finally getting to drive it the way it was meant to be driven must have been soooo much fun.
    Hopefully get to try one out sometime.

    That must have been great fun! Is that one section of The Ridge modeled after the corkscrew in Laguna Seca? It seems eerily similar.

      +xkrnxboix Thanks for your comment! I think it is quite similar to Laguna Seca in that it has a steep drop off, but unlike Laguna Seca the first left hander at The Ridge goes 180 degrees around. It's a hairpin. At Laguna Seca, it's more of a 90 degree left, followed by the quick right. It's similar, but I think The Ridge one is even more technical, though the speeds are lower.

      Ah... I see. That must be a very challenging section then. I would love to have a go at The Ridge.

    dope video. plan on getting a GT4 myself. Is the ceramic brakes overrated as an option?

    • @driveopolis
      @driveopolis  8 років тому

      I wouldn't say they are overrated. I'm come to realize recently that the steering feel is actually better on ceramic equipped cars due to much lower unsprung weight. And of course they look the absolute business. I think if you can afford the extra option, I would recommend them. But if you are an extremely heavy duty track guy, the regular rotors might be better due to lower replacement cost.

      Thanks man! I didn't know the ceramic brakes would effect the steering feel. Very interesting. Hope to see the 911 R review when it comes out! Maybe 918 Spyder?

    Great videos man! Glad you choose a standard over the PDK. may I ask what you do for a living to afford these cars? It's always interesting to hear how different people have gotten where they are now.

      +Apex25 Thanks buddy. I'll just say that hard work always pays off. You just gotta stay focused on your goals and be willing to make a few sacrifices to reach them. Everyone has different priorities, so make the thing you really want your priority and you'll be successful! :)

      +driveopolis Great answer :) May I dig a little further and ask you in what field you are working and what got you there (path wise --> how did you transition from school to college to work, how did you figure out what you actually want to do as a profession?)

      +- Füzzerich - +Apex25 It's always tempting to ask for specifics but I think that it may limit your own creativity for finding your own success. You just need to find your own set of talents and enjoy making it work for you. Everyone can do it. However, here are three rules I've learned over a decade of trial and error. Step 1.) Know exactly what you want. Keep it simple but make it very specific. 2.) Know exactly what MUST be done at any given time and work on it immediately. Don't wait, don't hesitate, make no excuses. Lose sleep if you must. Be proud of your work. 3.) Cut out everything from your life that does not contribute directly to your success. Be ruthless about it. This includes people and things. What you want in step 1 may change over time, but it doesn't matter. You just keep rinsing and repeating steps 2 and 3 until you get to where you want to be. Be a monster about it and it will work exactly as you predicted.

      +driveopolis Thank you very much! Now another question, this time car related. Although I don't drive cars myself I'm very curious in how the GT3/Gt4 line differs from the Turbo line. I'm aware that the conception is completely different (race car vs. daily / sporty driver) but what do you find appealing about each of these? How does the driving experience differ? As far as I know, the Turbos for example have a faster acceleration / more boost which appears to be very exciting, what' is your opinion?
