Do youthink the Glenmorangie 10 yr. is a good value at $35???
No doubt about it. It’s a wonderful middle-of-the-road scotch. Quite smooth and gets more interesting the more you drink of it.
I’m a scotch noob. I tried this and it smelled and tasted nearly 100% like alcohol to me. Could not stand it. Is that typical for someone as green as myself or are my senses just inferior/broken?
@@yanksrule311 that’s normal if you’re not used to drinking whiskey neat. I’d suggest putting it on ice first, then moving to adding a spoonful of water, and then a little less water, until you can drink it neat without the alcohol being the most prominent thing.
For the majority of people drinking a straight liquor is very difficult at first simply because they are used to drinking cocktails or beer or wine which are at most 15% abv, so 40% is like going back to that first taste of alcohol all over again. That being said, some people never really get over it. My brother still after years of trying dozens of whiskeys, still doesn’t really like any of them and thinks they’re too strong.
I've bought 8 different bottles of scotch this month, Glenmorangie being one of them, and honestly I hate it. Tastes like a cheaper, worse version of Dewars, and I quite like dewars for what it is. I Paid $37. Cannot believe this is a 10 year old bottle. This is NOT an approachable scotch, to a newbie this will make them forever hate whiskey
@@farklestaxbaum4945 Single Malts are generally more challenging than blends. Dewars is a very mild whisky. This one has a bit more muscle which is typical of single malt. I'm sorry you didn't like this one. Not every distillery/bottle will be one that you connect with, that's why it's great there are so many out there!
Entry level malt. Apt description. Very enjoyable, not intellectual, just pleasurable and not demanding.
Picked up a bottle yesterday. One glass and I was in love. It’s just lovely.
Glad to hear it!
A good every day whiskey. An easy drinker.
Nice, honest review!
Thanks!
I'd pick this over the standard bar scotches. Its a nice dram at a great price.
I agree it is a solid choice and very readily available too!
Would you say that this is a god whisky to drink everytime hitting a bar, and a good whisky to have at home on the shelve? For me personally i really really just love the 10 yo, the other Glenmorangie that i really like is the lasanta but to me that one costs 56 US Dollar to buy and the 10 YO cost 42 US Dollar
Excellent value for a TEN, serving as a generic base to blend other SIngle Malts : imagine adding some of that oily + potent AUchentoshan 3 wood dark PX sherry . . .
I use this bottle in many tastings to demonstrate what a ‘fundamental’ scotch whisky tastes like before you mess with it with peat, sherry casks, etc
what is that great music at the beginning?
It's called 'Hooky with a sloane'
Bad review.. Glenmorangie is the best on its price point and other high priced single malts
Well I did say it was a good entry level whiskey at a good price point so I’m pretty sure we agree?
