As a Brit who loves Scotch Glenmorangie 10 year old offers consistency, it cheers you up it is a very optimistic dram, there are a lot of very disappointing expensive bottlings out there, Glenmorangie is a beacon of quality and Scottish floral nostalgia, beautiful stuff.

Great review, new subscriber! Enjoying your videos learning about scotch’s. I’m 62 and have been on my journey for three months. I picked up this at the local Walmart 28.00 not a bad pour.

Great review guys! I usually buy a 1.75 liter bottle of Glenmo 10 every year. I prefer it over the Lasanta, but Quinta Ruban is King IMO.

This is the most popular single malt with The Scots yet it’s underrated by all the UA-cam whisky “experts” who are too good for it. Or it’s labeled as a “starter” ridiculous Lol

Mark: I appreciate your comments about different phases in Scotch preferences. That’s what makes Scotch so great, so much variety. I started going heavy into Sherry bombs, then Peated, then High ABV. Now I’m more into balanced expressions (bit of peat, bit of sherry, coastal influence) and lower ABV’s.

Absolutely, the continuous journey is a big part of the fun. I had been on a big ex-bourbon cask strength kick for a long time, and lately find myself gravitating back towards sherry bombs.

Where i live we get the 40% abv but i still think that it is a pretty solid whisky for the price and a good introduction to single malts.

Not a bad way to start a single malt flight and progress to give a NOOB a good introduction. Nice review guys and looking forward to more on the horizon.

Bought this bottle as a first entry into scotch after spending several years touring and appreciating Bourbon whiskeys. At first I was very disappointed by the subtle nature, but while watching this review, I really appreciated Mark’s perspective. I can definitely taste the ginger note and I can appreciate the fact that there is a place in the bar for an easy-drinking spirit. I’m going to drink another dram and appreciate the glass for what it is and look forward to exploring scotch as a new journey.

As a primarily bourbon drinker, this whisky is very easy to get into. I taste a lot of the vanillas and caramels that I enjoy out of a bourbon but get some lemon and a bit of honey and peaches. It is a nice way to bridge the categories of spirit.

  • @steveno7058

Very solid Scotch that goes for $30 where I’m at. Sometimes it can be a bit too alcohol forward. Funny how palates works sometimes. I get honey, floral, bit of vanilla, and light spice. Adding a bit of water and 15 minutes improves it. I find it more flavorful and less watery then Glenfiddich 12 and Glenlivet 12.

I always find myself going back to this one and always have it on hand. It was my entry into scotch. I still enjoy it; especially when I want something gentler and not necessarily get punched in the face by my dram!

Glenmorangie has some unexpected flavors in my opinion. On the nose I get grapefruit but I also get a strong metallic note along with paraffin. I basically get the same notes on the palate but with vanilla and spice. Excellent value.

I literally just bought this bottle of whisky this afternoon, its the very first ever whisky i ever bought an tried. I been watching review videos of Glenmorangie 10 Original since this past Summer, I really loved the sounds of all the flavors an scents they were smelling an tasting, it all sounded amazing, So i finally went out an bought a bottle, came home an poured a little bit, all i smelled was ethanol and tasted alcohol burn over my mouth. I really, really hope that i can get used to it and eventually like it, I'm not giving up on it

I think this is a pretty good whisky for it market place and market competition. If you want to jump to an aged stated whisky from the NAS bottom shelf, this is a nice entry point. I think it compares very favorably with Singleton, OP 12, and a little better than Monkey Shoulder. This one is an easier daily sipper by price point and flavor. A little water will open it up and smooth it out for the new scotch drinker. This might be something I put in a whisky carafe. Like Sunday, I would rate this a 2, but it is a good value for an aged stated scotch single malt.

  • @sundayeveningscotch4978

I think this is really good for the price. However, I know prices are regional, but I can get this for 26.99 locally. Compared to Monkey Shoulder for 22.99. I’d rather spend the extra four dollars to get this over Monkey Shoulder.

I wish I had the 43 abv version in Canada. I much prefer this as a reset your palate scotch to the Glenlivet or Glenfiddich. And if this is truly the base of all glenmorangie whiskies, then why can't they strap a big fat 10 (at least) on every bottle?

I think that they started using the name The Original in case they needed to use younger whisky than 10 years old. In that case the label and branding would be the same but they only need to take away the 10 year old which i think is parate label on the bottle.
