Glenmo 10 is still my go-to dram for a weekend sip. Excellent value and very light and refined for a 10 year old. The tall copper stills give excellent control during distillation, that's why they can bottle it at 10 years rather than 12. There is just a wee bit of bite and youthful exuberance in there too which I like compared to overly rounded malts like Glenlivet 12. Ralfy talks about the slight IrnBru fizz in the development - which always make me smile too. Whiskies can be TOO SMOOTH.
Another thing. It's the number one selling whisky in Scottish bars. Two things you should know about the Scots, they love their whisky and the hate spending money. So that tells you right there that Glenmo 10 is the no.1 bang-for-the-buck malt, at least of the ubiquitous ones you are likely to find most places.
Thanks for watching! Slainte! 🥃
Hi Erik ! The new GM10 is better in both taste and aromas and this is not just my opinion , our whisky club made a comparison , compare too ))) Cheers !
According to a TTB label application, Glenmorangie is replacing the 10 year with a 12 year. The 12 year Lasanta is also being replaced with a 15 year.
Thank you for the information.
I've never seen Glenmorangie 10 at that price (at least not recently). So yeah, great deal. People talk sh!t about Glenmorangie and Ardbeg because of some sucker-bottlings, but LVMH is doing a great job of keeping their Core Range bottlings well-priced in 2023, and that's to be commended.
I agree! And then have upped the age statements!
@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies On anything other than Quinta Ruban?
Thank you for the review. I always notice the bottle of Glenlivet Founder's Reserve on the background and can't wait to see a review on it. The thing is, I know it is one of the most affordable single malts, no age statements, superbranded, etc. But I do find it a lovely whisky, and prefer it over Glenlivet 12. From my point of view it has a lovely creamy mouthfeel, which is pretty nice.
Glenmorangie 14 Quinta Ruban is one of my favorite scotches. Also Lasanta is very nice but I tend to enjoy more the Quinta Ruban 14 Yrs. BTW, have you tried The Glenmorangie Signet? Is it worth the $270+ price? That would be a nice review to do. Great Video and thank you!
I've tasted the Signet but not owned a bottle. I'm not spending over $200 on a bottle of whisky these days.
I have bought Signet, when it was $170, it was a bad purchase mainly based on the attractive bottle. That being said, it's a very good whisky, but not worth the price I paid, and certainly not worth $270+. No way.
For less than half the price, consider Glen Scotia Victoriana if you're looking for a luxury single malt without an age statement.
I am more and more of the mindset that there isn't a single bottle of Scotch for sale which is worth $270+, especially without some kind of emotional attachment or the desire to spend money on a gift.
@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies Word.
@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies I agree 100% Thank you!
39 right now in Idaho I like it but sometimes I add a little wee beastie to it.
I definitely pronounce all scotch whiskey incorrectly. I try but it always comes out wrong! Haha 😂 Ive never had this bottle, but it sounds like it could fit on the shelf for a cheaper option to have
You spelt whisky wrong . That's the Irish whiskey your looking at. 😂.
It's 43 in the USA. In Europe we get 40. As usual, I have it, but haven't opened it yet. Have you tried Speyburn 10? Think it might be close to this?
I have a Speyburn 10 but since Speyburn Distillery is not on the Master of Scotch exam list I have not tried it yet. I'll probably get to it last 2024.
Im in scotland its £40 RRP.. I just picked a bottle up fir £28 and thought it was a bargain until i seen this. 😂.
$49 here in Pennsylvania!
I'm sorry 😢
The only single malt I disliked so much I gave the bottle away
Also doesn’t the new label print help to properly pronounce their name?
I don't think a label can help an American pronounce anything. Like, totally, fer sher, ya know?
Erik, Do you think it's deceptive for that entry level Glenmorangie to be named X, since X is also the Roman Numeral for 10 (and TEN 😉), and may be mistaken for an Age Statement?
I think originally it was labeled "Twitter" and then Elon Musk bought the distillery and changed it to "X". 🤣
I hear Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or NAS, which once was a 12yo, is becoming Glenmorangie Nectar 16yo.
I have the 12 Year Old old label and will be reviewing it next!
Hello sir..in comparison with glenlivet 12 which do you prefer?tnx sir..I'm planning to buy this Dec..either Glenlivet 12 or glenmorangie 10
And to add ...bec of you sir I bought sexton singlemalt..Jameson black barrel..bushmill black..deanston v.o..tomatin legacy..and I say your one of the best connoisseur out there
Obviously I'm not Erik, but there is a price difference between under $40 Glenmorangie 10 and about $50 Glenlivet 12 these days. I'd argue that there's virtually no difference between those two whiskies in the glass, so Glenmorangie 10 is the better value.
That being said, if you want a World Class Single Malt for about the same price (but usually less than) Glenlivet 12, then consider Craigellachie 13, as it's one of the best Single Malts being bottled today.
It's also 46%ABV, Non-Chillfiltered and Naturally Coloured, which are all signs of High-Quality whisky ✌️
...also, Glenmorangie 10 is 43% ABV, Glenlivet 12 is 40% ABV; so another reason to choose the Glenmorangie 👍
Tnx for the infos ..
I agree with Christopher Molloy, I'd go with the Glenmorangie 10.
I just can't develop a taste for scotch whiskey, I don't care for tequila either "/

Not a criticism, but curious why you're watching then?
