Mae's face says it all. Like getting punched in the hand when you expected a high five.
Ye Olde Noisy Cricket.
"If you fear your weapon more than the enemy you will not run" -Britain, probably
That's a *brutal* little handgun. Thanks for sharing, Mae! ❤
The Noisy Cricket!
I’ve always had a fondness for that stubby little beast. It actually has some style and elegance.
One of the original Bulldogs, I love it.
Thanks for sharing.
one of the bulldog revolvers of all time
Such a glare of intensity!
That would have made a very fine concealed carry gun for its day, and probably not too shabby now either.
Other then slow reload
It was the earliest concealment commercial revolver.
I'd carry it
The commercial version, known as the Webley Bulldog, was apparently used in the assassination of a number of presidents of South American banana republics, probably exactly because it was concealable and packed a punch.
@@JeffEbe-te2xsMost defensive shootings involve no more than 3 rounds being fired. 4 isn't uncommon. 5 happens but is rare. 6 is very rare. 7+ is almost unheard of.
When you get into the realm of 6+ shots being fired, it's likely at least some of them were legally questionable.
The face at the end said more than the commentary
I subscribed to this channel for minute of mae. I just don't need much more info sometimes and Mae is a perfect fit as a host for that, having that big of an expertise to compact a historic (ir)relevant ;) firearms down to a minute full of beautifully and presented Info! Minute of Mae is also a hook to my futher interrest on historical firearms, mostly in early semi- autos and repeaters.
I always wanted one of these! Back in the 1960's when they were cheaper but harder to find.(No internet)
as a former collecter and shooter i had one that was a little diferant from others mine had no seriel number and was on the fac as no seriel number, a fact that was never Questioned by the police.
The old Victorian Saturday Night Special
The 455 Webley cartridge was regarded by many as a “man stopper” round, and is barely comfortable to shoot in the massive Webley revolver. In that short barreled “pocket” version of the RIC, it is something you don’t want to fire until you absolutely have to.
The real manstopper was the short-lived Mk.III cartridge, with a type of hollow base wadcutter loaded backwards.
Also didn't help that handguns at the time were shot one handed like Mae is doing there. Modern shooting methods mitigate recoil quite a bit.
One of my bucket list guns.
This is for engagement. Love yalls stuff
Great job Mae❤
The eye roll at the end😂😂😂
It reminds me of the revolver in Who Framed Roger Rabbit
The 19th century sub-compact.
Great job Mae 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I had a dealer at a gun show insist that RIC meant "Russian Irish Constabulary", as if the British or the Irish would've been cool with a bunch of Russians deploying to Ireland
A certain starfish: MY NAME IS NOT RIC!!!
a great minute.have a good one Mrs.
Gun maker: Let's make a small, gate loading, uncomfortable revolver with shotgun sights. 🤦♂️🤣
you forgot.... in a large bore
@@quinnmclaughlin7537 Well, it could have had large sights and been in a shotgun bore. That'd be worse.
Actually, a 28-bore smoothbore, 5-shot revolver with a bigger grip and a bit more room behind the trigger guard _might_ be a useful "barn carry" in case there's a varmint, but I really doubt it'd be at all pleasant to use. 40-bore, maybe. .488 inch, roughly 275 grain, it'd do for snakes and rats. 28 or 20 might actually suck.
@@Sableagle While I doubt anybody makes ratshot in .455 Webley (maybe they did back then, who knows?), I imagine that would work just fine.
I have never heard a revolver hammer described as anything but heavy on this channel
It was to be fired in a close, tight environment and that made it very effective. These "Bulldog" revolvers were very popular with New York detectives I believe. A close quarter manstopper.
It's the Victorian noisy cricket!
I have always wanted a RIC to live my Sherlock Holmes fantasy.
I’M PISTOL RIC!!!!
Yeah it kicks, when I reload for mine I use 160grain bullets to keep the recoil manageable.
Grip higher! Great review, as always.
Nive one thabks for sharing
Thinking it would have been the pistol that Dr. Watson would have carried when Holmes said 'bring your revolver'.
Like a british detective special
Mae's face at the end lmao
Thanks Mae, you did look like it was a bit of a gun to handle but come the Zombie apocalypse I am sure you will convince me it will do the job, Cheers from Oz
I had a good collection of these . One in 476 cal
Handgun design has come a long ways . It looks to the best of my recollection like the handgun the Britsh counsel used in opening segment of the movie the Wind and the Lion to ward off the Berber ruffians of the Razuli and protect Mrs Pettikaras .( unsuccessfully I might add).
Wow!
Great
mae with an obscure handgun? that a thumbs up from me . and a comment
Whoot whoot
She loves to let those go!
Yeah, short barrel and powerful loads will have that effect.
Recoil? Uhh, yeah!
The look on your facet suggest you aren't a fan, but I can't help but like it.
It is very friend-shaped.
Great Grandpa's Charter Arms Bulldog .44 pistol.
British 357 snub basically
❤💫👍!
Is it any better shooting with both hands?
Gabdsome little bugger, but a uncomfortable one to shoot it seems.
The “RIC” stands for “ Royal Irish Constabulary”. The pistols were made by Webley and Scott, Birmingham, England, for the police in Ireland, the whole of which, at the time was under British rule. The “Black and Tans” as they were known were hated by the Irish population, and they existed from 1822 to 1922.
As far as I know, the "Black and Tans" were formed after WW1 of British Veterans and their nickname was based on their uniforms.
They were made up mostly of Scotsman were they not?
Plan to do any videos on Baltic ww1/2 guns?
Thats a rough time lol
Maes face 😝
All I need to know 😂
Adorable...
and the gun is pretty cute too
Its a 45. You can get used to it. If not get a s&w #3.
Great Grandfather's "Saturday Night Special"? 😂😮😢
I am sorry to hear this was not pleasant to shoot. I have always considered it a good looking gun, but "handsome is as handsome does".
Looks like a cap gun with real bullets
Big bang in a small gun, I wonder why they went with such a compact gun for what was essentially a police issue pistol.
Maybe for plainclothes/undercover work?
It's a variant of the RIC model but it's not necessarily the one they issued. They firmly had an eye on commercial sales to the well to do.
Police didn’t need a long barrel and European police don’t want to look armed so use pocket carry
I wonder if buffalo bore are still making their 455 webely loads I wonder what that would be like in this revolver.
They still are according to their website.
but it's really cute
Concealed carry for someone who may face brigands, bears and battleships.
It's like anything else British, very bitter.😊

"Beneath this pillow, lies the key to my release!"
"Of course she misinterpreted my intention entirely."
Sounds like a good starter's pistol.
Mae is cute!!!

@@KevinSmith-yh6tl You must be new here.
@@BorneoIs
Nope, but when someone has only 13
comments on the channel and they all say "Mae is cute", that pretty much says it all.
Don't you think so
Mitch,mate?
@@KevinSmith-yh6tl I detect jealousy.
@@BorneoIs
Deflect from yourself all you want.
Let's see what you post
in the next minute segment.
Can't help yourself, can you,you have a weird itch and you just have to scratch it.
I'm gone, take it easy Mitch. 😂
British noisy cricket
"Men un Black" vibes, that tiny ray gun Will Smith had in the first movie.
I think I would've preferred carrying something in like 38S&W than 455 webley in such a small package.
No smile, just a head shake and nope face. Too bad.
I guess you need some unpleasantness to appreciate the finer things.
Хуже наверное только Наган 1895 года
litlle revolver, look like 38 special
RIC, Royal Irish Constabulary.... they were the unliked police force of ireland during the 19th and early 20th century, they were frequently attacked by the IRA, and many of its members killed, they were no match for the IRA and had to rely on the british auxiliaries ( British army) in order for them to travel around the country. Later the Black and Tans came to Ireland, these were ex British soilders who had fought in WW1 and committed many atrocities against the Irish people. There name came from there mix of British army and RIC uniforms. Black trousers and tan tunic, there was no real accountability for them and they would frequently murder civilians and terrorise the community at large.
Mae's face at the end! 😂
The Great Grand Daddy of the Taurus Judge?
Nice
