Thank you for this video I am so sick of watching videos where people are sponsored and given a truck load of plants. Its so refreshing to see someone working with and using what they have on a budget. I live in South Africa and i grow many of my plants from seed or divided and propagate. The specialty ones I buy in but sparingly.

Thank you so much. I have to admit, there are times I wish I could buy ‘all the things’ when it comes to gardening. I tell myself to have patience and the plants that I’m able to buy on sale will eventually fill my garden up. 🥰 My mom’s husband had visited South Africa often.

New subscriber here. Ur garden is absolutely beautiful! 😍 I live in west Tx, zone 8a, which is desert like and very dry. Our summer temps mirror the kind u spoke about in this video, and we get very little rain. Our soil and water r both alkaline. I have cinder block fences in our backyard that I would love to screen with plants, but haven’t figured out yet what might work best. U mentioned ur creeping fig and it’s so beautiful, but I don’t think it would be able to survive the full sun that my cinder block fence is in. Can u recommend some screening plants that could survive hot brutal all day sun pls? Ty!

Oh my! Your weather sounds so much like ours. I have family in Amarillo. 😃 Have you considered Bougainvillea? That’s what I really wanted to plant. We were in Yuma, AZ last March and I saw bougainvillea everywhere. They do well in direct hot sun with little water.

What a beautiful garden! I also look for clearance plants that scream "save me and I will give you joy!" I bought 15 Merritt supreme hydrangeas on clearance last year (3 Gallon for $5 each). They are doing well but only one has budded up this season- I am in SE Ga 8B. Did I hear you say you put 5 gallon/hr emitters on each of yours?

Yes, we did. I'll probably do that to a few other plants as well. We have water restrictions. Only being able to water 3 days a week during certain hours of the day.
