Even though I still prefer a rsx over a civic si , this has to be one of my favorite civics out there
Im a teen and next year I’ll be able to get my permit, The Honda Civic si seems to be a really good starter car and at a good price
For sure! The one I reviewed is from a friend who just graduated high school. It's his first car and he loves it.
I had this si, loved it!
fyi vtec on this engine comes at 2200 and rev limit is 6800, this engines dont have true vtec ...i have an ep3 and its only better than a rsx if you swap the engine...i have one with a k24 now and its soooo fun.
So right so people don't get this is not the same as a 8000 rpm k20z3 or something
You’re wrong, it’s the same as regular vtec on the high end of the motor where the valves are fully open from 6-7k rpm, but it also has another cam profile for better fuel economy for the low end of the motor. So saying it’s not “true vtec” is misleading because you’re making it sound like it’s worse when it’s really the same thing
cry me a river you are 2 years late@@undrwrldsk8fred
@@undrwrldsk8fredhe’s more so referring to the one sided vtec and not on both sides exhaust/intake
I wouldn’t mind having one of these ep3’s along with my other Si
I have a 2004 Si (original owner) and love it. One correction though--the stock car weighs closer to 2800 lbs, not 2600 lbs.
You're right, thanks for the correction!
Nothing a few weight reduction modifications would not handle though!.. lol 🍺
@@TaylorMadejdm1975 Me or the car? 🏋️😂
I just got an ep3 for my first car and it’s so fun! Although I believe vtec is engaged at abt 2200 rpm. But all you need to do is get a head swap which I plan on doing! idk if that’ll pass smog…
Nice video man! I have the exact same car but in Nighthawk Black Pearl
Thanks man! That's awesome, hope you're enjoying it
Another car that is basically the same as the 2004 civic si is the Ford Focus SVT. It was Hondas competitor and ford beat them in the NA game. It has 10 more hp and 10 more torque and puts down similar numbers in 0-60 & 1/4 mile
Crazy that these are going to $10k-22k depending on mileage/condition. I picked one up recently for $4k from the original owner, wild luck.
I got mine for $1000 in 2020 granted I built a new motor for autocross but still saved a ton
Fun fact there was only 33,000 of these made in America, the si was not made in Europe, only the type R is in Europe
Idk about Honda having the best manual transmissions. Didn’t a lot of them have a problem with popping out of 3rd gear? I had an ‘08 Si a few years ago and luckily mine didn’t have that problem, but I know a lot did.
This ^
That’s cool I always wanted a car I could fit a small Asian in that back seat 😂
America didn't get the EP3 TYPE R. Even the UK 1.6 Sport version revved higher than this American market version.
This car is basically the same sort of spec as a UK 1.6 Sport but with a K24, that although has more cc's it also has more restrictive airflow and tamer mapping than the K20 or 1.6 Variants. The US Si is alright and would be better for long distance drives than the UK variants. It is though less exiting and fun with a less responsive engine.
This car is the same as the rsx and the same on weight but tge way the hatch weight is distributed is just amazing feels like all the weights is foward and pushing harder than an rsx.. idk could be just me lol
I could tell at the beginning of the video you’re by Fremont. lol the tunnel time at 680
you got it lmao
just gutted the rear on mine.
Never liked the SI body style for this generation. I Had a 2004 civic ex (only new car I’ve had out of 10 approximately). Over the years, I’ve loved my Acuras (TSX, RDX, 3 MDX) more than my old civic and accord. Great car company overall though
The price on these has basically doubled in a year 😢 nicer used models are easily at ten gs on autotrader. My area Craigslist is useless. I love in south Texas. I thibk the majority of cars even used offerings down here are new because cars cant survive torrential flooding and hurricanes 😂😂😂 when I buy my next car I will probably travel or have it delivered down here adding to the purchase😢
It's only 160 horse k20a3 is not the best
Defo should of got an ep3 instead
Did you buy a RSX?
The normal civic those years didnt come in that body style. That's how you know its an si. No badges needed. Everyone knows its an si. People who dont know dont care what you are driving anyways.
It is just a Civic. Very reliable but nothing exciting.
Rsx had a better motor
Definitely the ugly duckling in the Si boards, but I always get drawn to them lol
Rsx is trash!!!
