I bought an 03 in March of 2022 right before gas prices shot up 100% stock for $2800. Best short term decision I've made. Low cost to own and operate. Registration is $99. Parts are cheap and available (for now). Fun to drive. Good on gas. Gets lots of compliments from people who have no knowledge about cars, not a cop magnet like other Honda's.
It is slow, but there's always faster cars no matter how much power you have. I doubt anyone's having as much fun as I am driving the piss out of this car. Honda trans do like to grind gears no matter how careful you are. Aftermarket cosmetics isn't as good as other Civics or Hondas so you have to get a little creative.
Hella Fun Daily for what it is. I’ve been driving mine daily for the last 5 years. Unless you’re going to the track or auto crossing there’s No Reason to go Balls Out on performance unless you have the funds. Typical upgrades headers, short ram intake (depending on your state weather conditions) catback exhaust, coilovers & hasport or innovative billet motor mounts.
I have a K24A2 swapped in mines with a RSX type S trans. Love it
That sounds awesome man, I unfortunately don't have the money nor the skills to do something like that though
@@mayothefatgod7213 to be honest with just general mechanic skills you can do it. These motor k24a2 are roughly around 850 to 950 depending on where you're located.
@@alomechanthasinh4079 Oh wow that's a good price, well I also unfortunately don't have a place to work on my car or enough money to own both a project and a daily so yeah. But one day in the future I can hopefully have that experience
I need the same set up what parts do I need
@@giraykharizzma7737 CRV passenger side mount, crank position sensor from the K20A3 to k24a2. You can use the A3 intake manifold & throttle body. K24 swap Header for Ep3 & Hondata KPro. That's about it. Definitely worth it.
"Should you own an ep3"? Yea if I can find one
lol.
Running Mobil 1 definitely plays a part in how much oil you’re burning. Pennzoil ultra platinum is pretty much the best you can run aside from amsoil.
I run Castrol edge and I'm almost at 300,000 miles lol still runs great but doesn't burn any oil
Love the EP3, I have one that Im about to do a bunch of work too on my channel
The whole point of it not having VTEC means it does not come alive past 5000 RPM at all Ivtec tech is on all the time and it’s basically just for efficiency
Mines been giving me nothing but problems but it's because I bought thinking it was in good condition.
Other than the oil leaks galore, it's one of the most fun cars I've driven on mountain roads
On mine I never had a single leak, but they are very fun cars in the corners. I miss mine a little bit
I've been having mine for 10 yrs no problems
Only leak I've had is from an axle seal or two, and vtec solenoid gasket.
I've had mine since 2016
@keros4525 that's awesome! Slowly losing motivation since money is a bit of a problem but recently been doing more hours so I finally have money to spend on maintnance!
@@familialgameaholics7618lucky man, I'm from puerto rico so most people here do not maintain they're cars and the roads are shit so that doesn't help. Anyways, glad yours been reliable because mine is a headache lmao.
I Want to know if it shares the same cv axle as other civics...will they be comparable? Thanks
I have a 2003 Honda Civic Si and I have had no problems whatever with the oil...MY MAIN QUESTION tho is; can you recommend a roof rack/crossbars that will fit on this car? Super fun to drive! No electrical problems at all.
Oh yeah I miss my EP3 sometimes, and every engine will start to burn oil the older it gets and Hondas tend to do that because of VTEC. But as for roof racks I do not know of any, due to the fact that I never needed one so yeah
Nice ep !
Thanks broski, trying to sell it now though
@@mayothefatgod7213 good luck 🍀 let us your next ride !
@@ChrisHondaProductions Thanks man I'll need it considering nobody wants my car lol. But I will post a video on my next car for sure
Are those leather seat covers?
I don't like the leather in the ep3 haha. My driver seat is worn out though. Only 102k miles on my 04 ep3.
Im tryna buy one right now but dude aint awnsering me
OH YEA HIGH ENGERY!!!!!!!!!!!
What was the electrical issue that you had? Looking at buying one but the owner has gone through 2 alternators!
I believe the one I had was the alternator was overcharging the battery or vice versa and there was some hot wires that were on an open circuit not connected to anything and therefore it would mess with the electrical system. The previous owner had a sound system in there and the oxygen sensors went bad so I think those were the 2 circuits that were open. It varies from car to car so I can't really say much but I hope that helped you though
@@mayothefatgod7213 thanks man
@@mayothefatgod7213There's a method to run catless (test pipe) without getting CEL.
It's pretty simple.
There'll be a diy on UA-cam or a forum
Am buying a 8th Generation Si
What kind of Wheels are those and what size
I don't know the brand of wheels but they were 17s and the tire size was 205/45/17 if I remember correctly
Do you remember the wheel specs on this ride?
Not too sure tbh, the coilovers are from Yellowspeed racing, don't know the wheel brand. The tires were 205/45/17 I believe it had a camber kit in the rear but I don't recall what brand it was. This is all the info I can give right now. Hope it helps to a degree
@@mayothefatgod7213 it did help and thank you for the quick reply
I have 180K miles on mine. Yours sounds pretty bad tbh. That engine needs some work like you said.
Get rid of that SRI, it's literally next to the exhaust manifold sucking in hot ass air, bringing power, and mpg down.
I daily drive mine. Every day. I work 7 days a week and get around 31mpg. She's my ol' reliable. Honestly the most reliable car ived owned, other than my C5.
I also own a Audi TT VR6, that car has been nothing but problems for me after the timing chain job. I need to sell it.
So far I've had to replace:
Front shocks
O2 cat sensor, still shoots the code from time to time, i think its a wire now.
Light bulbs
Tensioner pulley
And converted the SRI(previous owner) to a CAI. I went from 28-29mpg to 30-31 mpg consistently.
And oil NEEDS to be changed every 4-5kmiles bc these cars burn oil as you mentioned. After 4k miles I'm down to 3 dirty ass quarts.
Yeah man that's why I've only owned Civics. But I got rid of the EP3 like 2 weeks ago and I have an FG1 now which is completely stock. If you wanna know more about it I posted a video on it not too long ago
Are you selling it?
As a matter of fact yes I am

Hey Mayo is a Honda Civic Si a good Daily driver?
So far yes, it just depends on the model. But it's a Honda Civic at the end of the day so it is a solid daily
@@mayothefatgod7213 It has always been a Great daily driver including the Si and Type-R the best Civic to buy ❤️❤️❤️
Whoa leather interiors???
Yeah! I had no idea they could come from the factory with them as to my knowledge at least. That's how I bought the car, I prefer the cloth seats imo
@@mayothefatgod7213 its possible those might be rsx seats. Ep3 has their own cloth red stitched suede seats
@@joeyxjoe true, I know the Type R has Recaro ones but I obviously don't have them. I'm probably gonna swap them out for NRG ones later down the road when I have enough money ofc
@@joeyxjoe I also had someone come up to me and ask me if those were RSX type S seats before as well so maybe they are
@joeyxjoe those are not rsx seats they definitely are ep3 leather seats
Hybrid Shifter or no? That’s some slop.
from looking at other supporting modifications, I highly doubt it.
It's small but not that small.. not like a ef or eg or ek hatchback.
Mine oem stock and has 276k miles
