- Hello Automotive Anatomy,
Today we have Timothy and his Mugen Theme 03 Honda Si. It is often described as the forgotten generation but I would say it is the unknown generation. The more you learn about the vehicle the more you appreciate and like the car. Tim has major plans for the vehicle and we hope he does them all. Thank you for a fun time Tim. Shifter position is inspired by rally race cars - reduce the hand’s travel distance between the shifter and the steering wheel

I bought mine brand new in 2003 in Black. I loved it from DAY 1 and the shifter was what hooked me out of my 2000 GSR.

This video is gnarly...I bought my 03 ep3 from a dealer paid 8k..a little to much..97k original miles...a tow hitch made a nice indent in my usdm bumper..still on..daily driven..clutch coilovers..piping.k and n filter.drilled and slotted rotors and wheels

in the UK the type r ep3 k20a2 is a popular car. Parts are very cheap here to. recommend putting a real k-series in with a hondata 240bhp
thats why here in Portugal theres a bunch of type R´s selling for parts without documents i guess

Very clean ep man. Mine just hit 107k miles. Had her for six years. Full color change, full type r body panels. Missed out on getting mugen gril. Running 17x9 rpf1 she's treated me real well. I have a Fugen wing too lmao

The shifter issue make sense if you think about it, most guys are using extended adjustable short shifters the days in older Hondas.

The owner needs a pair of these: 34301-S5H-T02. Clear side indicators that only EUDM / UKDM 01-03 Type R’s have. Amber wedge bulbs (T10, W5W) are 34351-S1A-G01HE. There is also red LHD full carpet available, but it’s super rare. Anniversary and premier EP3’s have them.

I own a JDM type R, and it makes me smile so hard every day! I have so much fun flying through the corners, especially in the wet!! Buy one, no regrets 😊

my dad owns one but currently doesn’t use it so he’s going to give it to me once im actually able to drive
Good thing you swapped the seats out. I crapped my pants in my old ep3 Civic and the stain just wouldn't come out. I tried bleach and everything. Seats just ended up with a brown stain, and I sold the car eventually

I have always loved that these were a hatchback. They should have gotten a k20a2, but otherwise are pretty cool. I was disappointed that this one retained the K20a3, all the Mugen stuff is cool, but not how I would have spent money modifying this car. At least not until it had a proper engine and trans in it.
To each their own my dude, I’ve got UK ep2 Sport in Vvid blue with a d16V1. My first forever car. No one makes parts for the engine, even Skunk2 ignored me email asking for any parts 😅 just to rub it in, I’m getting a JDM EP3 R with that tig welded chasis 😌

Any chance to get some support from the EP3 fam? New owner of an ‘02. cylinder 3 is at 57psi the others are averaging 164. Just looking for some guidance/forums to check out before buying a replacement.

Sounds like you may have to do a motor swap. In terms of forums ephatch.com should have all the info you need. Hope this helps one ep driver to another 🤙

you can run the four lug and drop in the k20a2 the transmission is the only thing interfacing with the axels
Don't be confused integrate both k20a2 head with a k24 block

@@AutomotiveAnatomy in the UK it's an ep2 chassis. Ep3 chassis only contains k20a2 or k20a engine.. The a3 doesn't have lift control on the exhaust cam like an A or A2 does.
