Thank you so much Catherine!

You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for sharing your template for your professional looking certificate of authenticity. Thanks for making me look more professional with my customers! That was very generous of you and I really appreciate it!
You are so welcome!
I enjoy your channel. Giving and receiving advice is complicated and personal. In your video's you take considerable time explaining what you are going to tell us and then in just mere seconds, you tell us. Then you build up again what you want to tell us and then in a few seconds, you tell us. I know that monetization with UA-cam really hits good numbers when you have a 10 min video, but I just fast forward thru so much to get to the actual points in some of your videos. If you are still reading the comment, know that I really enjoy your artwork!
Thanks very much!
Nice touch with the provenance and purchase documents. Excellent education for authenticating your wonderful art work...

super late comment but thank you so much for this, this is just what I was looking for!
No worries!
Swarez, this is very valuable information. You are helping out a lot artists out there for sure. I have one question, which is, would you consider making a video about SEO for artist?
Just to get your perspective on it.
Thank you very much! Yes I could do but it goes out of date so quickly with the rapidly evolving face of SEO (which in itself is a slightly outdated term). But there is definitely potential for giving creatives a helping hand to make their multiple channels more visible and to work better. Can't promise but i will add the topic to the list and see what we can rustle up!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Lovely x
Thank you!
Thank you. 🙏🏽
You're welcome!
Great video, love it! Thanks for the info.
What is the reasoning behind doubling the invoice price for the insurance valuation? Is that a made up amount, or is that common practice? Basically all clients would have bought their painting for half the value?
Keep up the good stuff!
Thank you! Basically it's done for reasons of replacemnt should anything bad happen - the higher figure is ample to cover off a replacement (which would need to be painted specially). This allows for any future changes in prices or material costs.
Thank you so much for this. I’ve been selling without paperwork for a few years and thought I should probably start being an actual artist. At age 20
Awesome! Glad it helped!
thank you very much
You are welcome!
Hi there!
For starters - Thank you so much for your effort and time! What you do, and share is an indispensable asset, or assistant for all of us creators out here. Me myself is a commercial photographer who is finally taking the plunge and is starting my own gallery for my photographic artwork I’ve been making and producing for the last 15 years. I do quite a bit of abstract motifs, and see my world a klittle bit differently than others, so it is liberating to view and behold all of your artwork- It’s magnificent. Truly stunning.
Enough of all the superlatives.
My question for you; where do you get the stickers, the hologram stickers?
If you have the time to share that with me, I would be so grateful.
Otherwise I’m going to be grateful anyways!
All the best,
Niclas,
Sweden
Thanks for the video! Your certificate design is very stylish! Could you answer me, please, Is it necessary to give a number to each certificate? Or is a certificate number only needed when creating a limited edition collection of print?
Yes, correct (in my opinion) I would only number them if you are certificating individual copies from the same piece. Hope that helps. There doesn't seem a point numbering something that's an original!
@@SwarezArt Thank you for answering my question! Many inspirations for your new art projects!
so helpful.. you do give such wonderful advice.. Thank you for sharing this! if you ever share anything else like this, Shipping canvas is always harder for me. could use help with that. anyway, thanks again for sharing
You are so welcome!
Topman 👍
Thank you so much for this information! Quick question. For the insurance valuation. If anything happens to the painting would you be contacted?
I would hope so! That's up to the assessor and the client I guess...
thank you
My pleasure!
Great info, a question; the insurance valuation would it not be void for being doubled the price paid because of conflictive information? Would you mind clarifying that? Thanks!
No it wouldn't. Irresepctive of the price paid I can choose what value to put on it for a replacement. For example, i cpould buy the Mona Lisa for £50 but it has a value far higher. Art is an unusual commodity like that - not like an iPhone or a pair of sneakers (actually, even they can be a bit odd!) but you get my drift I hope. The valuation is essentially done to allow for future changes in materail coss and also to allow ample budget to replace a painting for a client.
Mona Lisa.
@@SwarezArt …and, you never know, but even a doubling of the paid price may turn out to be much too low of a valuation in the future. If Mr. Da Vinci could only know how much his Mona Lisa has increased in value. Something to think about.
@@markhamilton8765 a very good point! I have always maintained that I will re-issue them when the time comes... will heed your words of course Mark.
Top work gents!. Aside from being able to rotate the canvas any way for display do you have any opinions on signing the front of the canvas?.
Do you find the market generally prefers the painting signed on the back or is it neither here nor there?
Thanks for reading and looking forward to seeing what the contraption is you have made on the live stream Weds!
I find signing on the front restrictive for the purposes of changing the orientation of the painting. Some like it signed on the side which is okay though. I don't think any of my clients give a hoot where it's signed!
@@SwarezArt thanks for the reply!
@@SwarezArt Do you sign it on the back?
hello,
very instructive and interesting video, and i do have a questions concerning what you said in the "Tips on making a Certificate of Authenticity for your artworks" vidéo.
depending on the price of the painting you sell, do you think a certificate and the insurance valuation (sorry for my english) are indeed needed ?
let's say for a valued painting of 600€, is it interesting to do it or is it like overkill ? (this is a real question, i' m trying to understand when and how to do things)
thank you for your answer
also, i saw a photo on the wall, near your desktop, is it you doing martial art ?
I think every artwork should have it no matter what the price or value. In my experience buyers like to feel special and a decent Certificate underlines their purchase in my opinion. It also shows that you care about what you do. And yes, I taught karate and Self Defense after i qualified as a black belt. Thanks for noticing!
cheers... 🍻
Rock on!
Looking into selling my art as well. This is really helpful. I'm though wondering how will the certification work if you're doing prints of an original painting? Would you still need one considering it's a copy of an original art work?
I would do that personally, yes!
Hi, its great to see your videos in your gallery. I was wondering, most of your canvases in your showroom are not framed, do some of your customers ever want them framed when they buy? I am working on a solo show for an art project Ive been working on and will hire some space to do it. Thinking whether to frame my canvases in floating frames or not. Thanks!
No, it;s very rare that anyone wants to frame them. I have done them on occasion in the past and they do look amazing but at an average cost of around £200 per painting for me that's a lot of money tied up in material costs (across 120 paintings). It's not economically viable or practical. So I don't do it. It helps that my canvases go all the way round the edges (they're stretched after painting). But I cannot justify the costs of framing everything.
@@SwarezArt thanks I think your works look great without frames especially as they are edge deep canvas. I usually make my work on non deep edge canvas but still I feel they can look fine without frames. I was thinking of making my own but still the time and costs are too much of a diversion. Great to know your approach!
Thank you very much for sharing this template. You are so helpful. Anyway, I have a question. I am using a different art name than my real name is. I am just wondering how to sign it.. I mean which name to use... I would appreciate your answer. Thank you for being here for us
Thanks for your feedback Katerina. I would personally use my own signature but use my art name in print if that makes sense? Hope that helps. Ed
Thank you so much......& Your gallery is fantastic....🙏 #artkrisna
Thanks you so much!
Beautiful and magic art piece! I tried to edit in PS but not possible? Thanks for the template, excellent!
Mmmmm.... curious. It should ope in aything that's CS6 and above? Email me and I'll send it to you again. (info@swarez.co.uk)
@@SwarezArt I have the latest version. Ok thanks that's very kind of you!
I am considering going professional and always wondered how to write a COA. Thanks for sharing this valuable info. I have a little question - does the signature on the COA need to be same as the one on the artwork or is it the 'bank signature'?
Thanks Sanjay. I always make sure that all signatures read the same on all documents. Hope that helps.
Thank you for your video, do you use your legal signature or the signature you use to sign your artwork on the certificate?
My legal one. I think it has more gravity
Hi Ed..., do you know if these documents would be considered acceptable forms of evidence as attributes of provenance by the art dealer market? Cheers...
No idea Stephen - can't stand dealers. But I would have thought so unless they're too far up the establishment's arse in which case fuck 'em!
Hi. Thank you so much for this brilliant information🌺Just one question: who make barcodes or holographic stamp on Certificate? Any suggestions? Print companies? Thanks👍🌺
Try eBay - you can get personalized hologram stickers too!
That was great, thank you so much for sharing your experience with us!
Now, if only I can find people to actually buy my pieces, that'd be awesome 😢 To be fair, I've only just started being serious about it (not even a year in).
Also, I have two paintings I bought of a very successful artist, but didn't get any papers to go with it. Should I insist for her to at least give me a certificate of authenticity? I really should, hey.
Yes, absolutely! chase them for something at the very least!
Thank you for this information😊Very helpful. Just two questions; I am going to sell giclee prints, shall I add certificates too? Or is it just with originals? And do you sign it with a pencil? Sorry maybe you mentioned it and I missed it😊Thanks so much in advance!
I would personally certificate EVERYTHING! Provenance is a welcomed addition I feel and is necessary for all artwork - prints and originals. I always sign with a fine tipped permanent marker pen. Hope that helps!
@@SwarezArt Yes!😊❤️Thanks so much!!
Hi love watching your channel, where did you get the holographic stickers from? i have a couple of of pieces of portrait art that i have had signed by the celebrity that i would like to make an authenticity certificate for, and i think this would be the added touch to make it perfect.
Thanks Kirsty - I just searched through eBay until I found something I liked!
Swarez, I think you can open photoshop images in Inkscape. For people that don't use PhotoShop, Inkscape is a free program. I use it all the time, not for photoshop images, but I do use it to make my own logos, etc..
Thanks Bill. I did reply to youre email but your mail software rejected me!!!
@@SwarezArt That's strange I don't know why that would happen. You can try NOSPAM-artistview@outlook.com remove the NOSPAM- part. I add that just to help stop spam bots from getting my email. :-)
Thnak you for your vidéo, where did you get the genuine stickers ? I would love to have them on my stuff
Have a look on eBay
Question how do you deal with commission work? I heard from different artists who have done commission work where the customer didn't like the final piece and didn't want to pay for the work. Do you receive a non refundable deposit? What are your thoughts? Please share.
No, I don't take any deposits - ever! Here's my take: if I cannot give a client what they want then I don't get paid. If I have not interpreted their brief or come close to understanding what they desire then why should I? If I am the expert then they are trusting me to deliver something magical. If I can't do that then I don't deserve the commission. People really don't like non-refundable deposits... would you pay one? Knowing you couldn't get your hard earned money back? I always paint 2 canvases to begin with and then move on if I don't get it right. I factor those costs into every commission - which is one reason they are more expensive than normal. Hope that helps...
What paints are you using on the big Canvas which your doing live with the squidgy
Everything (with exception of the two tutorials where I’m wearing a striped apron) is enamel paint
Am I the only one who wonders where you get the holograms produced ...is it custom? LOVE your channel, BTW
Thanks Brian. You can get them made with a logo but I chose to grab some from eBay! There are hundreds to choose from.
Amazon also sells them
Do you sell many of your artworks? If so what is the best way do you think. Is Social Media a good way to sell? I find I mostly get other artists looking at all of my social media - but I need to tap into the buyer! You must find that your audience (on You Tube) is mostly artists. Thanks for all of your information!
Yes, all social media and UA-cam is essentially other creatives - not my my market. To answer your questions takes time and a lot more room than there is space for here. Much of this is down to two things - defining who your market is and should be and then going to where they hang out to find them. Sit and think about that first one very carefully. If, for example, you wan to target interior designers then find out how they work, where you can find them and what services they want. Understanding who who want to appeal to is the first step in appealing to them.
And yes, I sell well thank you. Here is the 2019 site sales (excl. commissions) www.swarez.co.uk/sold-work-2019/

@@rodline9027 Thank you very much!
Are you allowed to use all these papers including the insurance paper if you do not have a company yet?
Yes! Absolutely you can! It's entirely up to you. Go for it!
@@SwarezArt great! Thank you for your generous videos. ♥️
how about digital artwork, like digital painting. Is it worth to make certificate of authenticity?
My opinion would be yes
I’m considering holographic stickers but woa they cost a lot . One site charges $450 Canadian for 500 stickers . About 90 cents per sticker . That’s for just basic permanent adhesive ones
eBay! Buy something generic for now - a few bucks for a hundred!!!
Amazon also sells them
