    Back in the early 90’s minitruckin had a template in one of there issues for this mod. I did it back in 97 on mine and didn’t tell anyone for weeks and they couldn’t figure out how my truck was and inch and a half lower then there’s. It also really drove them nuts when I figured out that a set of Monroe shocks for a 79 Toyota was a shorter shock and also gave me a lower stance.

      can you tell me the exact name of the monroe shocks?

      Lowers the back more depending on where your whole is drilled.

    Confused me with the tape measure. You said two inches top...I see from the top of the hole. When you did the side measurement sounds like you say "3 inch" back. Looks like an inch not 3. Sorry if I'm wrong but hard to understand and you blocked the measurements view. Thanks

      sounds like he said 3 inch but he actually said “an inch back”

    Does this mess with your pinion angle?

    • @brettjohnson4206

      tilted lower blocks do a better job but this does take a lil stress off from lowering so much.

    • @haydenrasband1601
      @haydenrasband1601 4 роки тому +3

      its probably hard to tell from this video but other videos of lowering these trucks talk about tapered blocks that have a slight (about 2 degree) angle on the top which accounts for the change in axle position. If you use blocks that are square it can mess the pinion angle up, but not enough to cause huge amounts of damage

      Have you done it ?

  • @VintageandVoltage

    Is there any disadvantage to doing this at all? I'm tempted to do *only* this mod to lower the truck a bit, thinking ride quality won't be affected, and if anything, the suspension will be stronger. I don't want a big drop, and I'm guessing this only moves the rear end down an inch or less.

    • @brettjohnson4206
      @brettjohnson4206  5 років тому +4

      When you lower a truck so much it makes the drive shaft kinda bind due to it being to long . By moving the front spring purch it gives a lil slack and lowers the car the distance you moved it up by about the same distance . For me i wanted to be lower than any bagged truck in my town and it still drive daily. Most people wouldnt drive it but I love dragging and scrapping on a car/truck that is DIRT NASTY LOW !!! HAHA #staticlife

    • @VintageandVoltage
      @VintageandVoltage Місяць тому

      @@dezertdestroyer7782 I did not. At the moment, I have lowering blocks (which I don't love) as I wait for the time to do my Beebani 3 link kit with coilovers. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

    Did you measure 2 inches up from the top of the factory hole or 2 inches up from the center of it?

    • @brettjohnson4206
      @brettjohnson4206  5 років тому +1

      Center !

    • @jenkinsisme1
      @jenkinsisme1 5 років тому

      Brett Johnson thanks man. I did mine 2 inches straight up from center but used a regular bit that walked on me and one side of the rearend is 1/2 inch back further than the other. I’m gonna have to redo it with the bit like you used. I’ll have to drill slightly higher or lower than the current one I drilled I guess.

      @@jenkinsisme1 yeah you can get side ways fast with the bed on and stuff in ur way . hope it works out, if u have to weld a plate over the wrong hole and redrill it its not a big deal .
