    Back in the nineties when I lowered my 87 Hardbody, we just took out the center leaf. Then cut the bump stop in half

      That is very cool. I ended up removing the bump stops completely. Thank you so much for watching.

    Hey P&P are the shocks you swapped out the same length as the factory ones? I ordered the StreetEdge 3" leafs.
    Also, did you drill out the slotted part on the load valve bracket to lean it further towards the valve? Thanks in advance!

      I think I discarded the factory shocks, but I can go back and check. I would like to say that the aftermarket shocks are 2 inches shorter than the factory ones but I could be wrong. After taking all the measurements for the load sensing valve, I did not have to drill it out. I adjusted it to the same length as the factory length once everything was lowered I just rotated it by loosening up a nut. If you have any other questions, please ask. Thank you very much for watching.

      Hello, the leaf spring came in all ready to mount. I would say the drop leaf spring bushings appear to be much better than factory. It really bolted right in to the hanger. I am sorry but I don’t remember the exact size of the upper bushing.

      Whoa,..I just ordered from o’Reilly’s, the complete leaf spring polyurethane bushing set from Entergy suspension, for like 60 bucks, came with new metal sleeves for the rear hangers and grease, took all of 30 minutes to do start to fin. Just a little info from one mini-trucker to another.

    Did you end up leaving those bump stops ? The two you said you were going to remove ?? What works best ?

      Hello, I removed the bump stops. I did not even try to put them in. And after I got it all put together, there’s no way that they would’ve fit without being insane really close to the axle.

    Did you use the same bolt the leafs came with for the hanger? They seem small

    • @jolede029
      @jolede029  7 місяців тому

      Hello, no I did not. I used the OEM bolts that I took out of the original leaf springs. The bolts that came with the new leaf springs are just to hold them together for shipping. They are throw away bolts. Thank you for watching.

    Did you happen to run into any issues with the bushings that came with the leaf springs? I noticed on mine, the bushings at the "Front" side were loose with the included metal sleeve. I have a set of Energy Suspension leaf spring bushings, but those bushings are too big to fit inside the leaf spring, but they have no play with their included sleeve. Beautiful truck btw. I have a 97 that my father gave to me. 97 Xtra cab

    Are those shocks you replaced OEM standard, or are they short shocks? I was told if I put these 3" drop leafs I'd have to get shorter shocks. Or maybe it was if I re-drilled the hangars, can't remember. Great video, I plan on putting these to replace my flat leaf springs and take my 2" blocks out.

      I don’t know that I have the factory ones still around as they were all so old. I want to say that they’re 2 inches shorter. I do feel that if you lowered the vehicle other than stock that you would probably bottom them out the factory shocks. If you have any other questions or if there’s anyway I can help just reach out anytime. Thank you for watching.

      @jolede029 I got the 2 in drop spindles installed and kept the factory size kyb excel g. The front tires scrape the fender if I hit a bump too fast. Is this shock issue or just needs smaller tires? Thanks!

    Where do you get the springs for the backside?

    • @jolede029
      @jolede029  5 місяців тому

      Hello, thank you for watching. I ordered them from Belltech. If you order them just remember that they are sold single, not in pairs. Good luck.

    Could you run 4 inch blocks with the 3 inch springs?

      Thank you very much for watching. I don’t really know the answer to that. I will shoot a video with a bunch of these questions on it and find out. I would think that would put it super low to the ground.

    Hi what did you do with old spring ? Are you willing to sell

    • @jolede029
      @jolede029  6 місяців тому

      I still have them. I was going to keep them in case I ever sell the truck I guess. More stuff laying around. If your looking for leaf springs I would think a salvage yard would have some.

    How’s the ride quality?

    • @jolede029
      @jolede029  9 місяців тому

      Hello it rides really good I must say. I did have to take off the rear bump stops. It really does feel like factory. But with the rear sway bar it is real nice and tight. I hope this helps.

      @@jolede029I've been there! I like the way it turned out! How does it ride? I just bought a '97 King Cab and am debating on lowering it. My '79 Datsun 620 King Cab is lowered on blocks with 720 4X4 leaf springs, it rides ok. I would imagine the leaves are a better ride than the blocks...

    • @jolede029
      @jolede029  Рік тому

      Well, I think it rides really good. With that said I have never rode with lowering blocks and factory leafs before. I think the new shocks probably help out too. I would say it rides just as good as factory if not way better. I would like to drop it 1 more inch, I plan on using 1” angled lowering blocks for that if I do it. I installed a rear sway bar too, that episode coming soon. The rear sway bar also tightened things up even more. It handles really great it just needs more power. :)

    • @Brooklyn_Powers
      @Brooklyn_Powers Рік тому +1

      Yeah I think if I do lower it...I will go with the springs! Can you confirm the part # for me? Thanks!

    • @jolede029
      @jolede029  Рік тому

      I am looking at the invoice now, #5974 “leaf spring” they are sold each, not in pairs. Also, I bought the whole big suspension kit so it came with the new shocks. Don’t forget the different lowering shocks. The shocks seem to be really nice.
