    I loved your polite little rant about people making assumptions or simply spreading false information.
    I spent thousands of hours mathing out all of the damage interactions and testing practical uses of skills/weapons in the Monster Hunter series. People would ask for help farming gear and designing a set to help them improve and then proceed to argue against my every suggestion. Sigh, I loved helping but it felt like a war against ignorance at times.
    One stat at a time man, you're doing great work. Thanks for these awesome uploads.

    The beginning rant of this video does a good job of highlighting my persistent issues with GSG's weapon balance philosophy. They seem to be perfectly content to leave things objectively unbalanced so long as enough players are using the weaker option. Even if the whole reason players use that option is due to sheer ignorance.
    Here's hoping this video can gain some traction and impact the pick rates on Quickfire Ejector enough for GSG to do something about it. But in a world where they've left the poor GK2 essentially untouched for several years I just don't see it happening.

      @@alphateam6580 AISE just isn't worth the downsides even if you're insane at aiming, let alone if you're the average player. GSG *seems* to want to give the average players an easy time with the skill based weapons, so why leave AISE so mediocre?

    0:56 oh wow, I didnt know that! the entire reason why I use zhukovs is because I thought they were better at killing swarmers than boomstick. One minute into the video and I already learned something new.
    Can't wait for the videos on the other weapons.

      Well, Zhukovs are still better for killing swarmers in terms of ammo economy. The shockwave just helps the boomstick not be entirely useless at it.

      The Zukov's are better at quickly picking of smaller numbers of swarmers with precision shots, a Boomstick Shot however is utter waste against smaller amounts of Swarmers .It's Shockwave can technically kill large amounts of swarmers with one shot, if they are clumped up enough. But in reality that doesn't happen all that often and when if it does, Zukov's still perform more then adequately by going full auto on them, just like you would with Drak or GK2. I might be biased against using it that way because I am a Jumbo-Shell Enjoyer, which obviously makes the wasted potential a lot higher.
      TLDR, they both have their upsides in dealing with swarmers, and I wouldn't say the Boomstick is better in that regard. It's a valid option thou if you are taking it for other reasons anyhow.

      i find zhukovs to be pretty trash at killing swarmers just because of how small they are + spread however i do find them to be much more efficient at killing grunts for the ammo spent

      Think of it like this. If there is a Swarmagedon where so many small buggers are going to overwhelm you, the Boomstick is a really solid secondary to have.

      Bruh same the added mobility just makes scout feel scout like I just can’t get away from the starting rifle with AI stability engine (I think it’s called that) and a special powder double barrel sprinkle in a little battle frenzy on the rifle and you have just really solid damage and mobility

    Finally a video that explains the reload speed in DRG. I kept seeing numerical values for reloading speed and rate of fire and always assumed they were flat values in seconds, but not 1/(value) = x seconds for each stat.

      To be clear the reload stat is just in seconds, so the default 2 on boomstick is 2 seconds long.
      Meanwhile the 'rate of fire stat' is 'how many times can this fire in one second', which is why you can represent it as '1/X=seconds of delay'. (And then this also, unfortunately, determines reload delay.)

    Deep Rock is such a weird game, as that you always find out that something isn't working as shown on paper. Never would've assumed that attack speed factors into reload time.
    Good video and gave me a lot of insight into this weapon I never managed to get warm with. I probably still won't use it much, but at least I do know some things if I decide to now.

      In that case (and in general)I would strongly recommend using born ready to reload it passively, and have the option to fure twice quickly with double trigger.

      personally, considering the carbine is my go-to weapon of choice it feels really weird taking born ready just to use it for only one weapon, If one of my weapon is a re-charge weapon over a reload weapon I only would consider taking born ready if one of those two weapons just is really really really slow to reload,
      normally i'd take the T5 mod that's bascially built in born ready, but you may or may not have convinced me to perma-lock T5 into Fire shells, bc damn fire shotgun is cool

      Not to mention, they aren't anywhere near as in-depth as these go. I've watched build guides that tell you to use the things Lazy has proven are terrible. I bet there's plenty of Scout guides with Quickfire Ejector in there.

    The fear mod might sound bad on paper, but it can be extremely handy in a real game. Scout can struggle with sustained damage due to being constantly swarmed (and so he has to grapple away and find his footing again), but shooting with this mod in the midst of a swarm can give scout the breathing room to take out praetorians, wardens, etc with his primary.

      I would agree with you... if it was consistent. But you can't rely on fear to give you breathing room if the fear chance isn't 100%, you have to either risk getting chomped or grapple away anyway. And white phosphorus is completely broken, so...

      ​@@VorpalSword9 Although white phosphorous does more damage, I think the utility of fear is more appealing to scouts like me who want a more "grounded" playstyle instead of grappling around every 5 seconds during a fight.
      The fear mod also helps if you run cryo grenades since white phosphorous will revert the frozen state and ruin the 3x damage multiplier.

      ​@@shaunhayes3072 Consider the fact that it's 50% fear *per shot* , meaning firing 2 shots in quick succession increases the likeliness of enemies fleeing. Also consider that you're killing swaths of bugs just by doing so (assuming blowthrough rounds). You're essentially a human shield as long as you keep shooting.
      Also there are plenty of situations where you'd want to stay grounded, pretty much anytime you have to be defensive, i.e. drilldozer missions, salvage missions, hacking missions, etc.
      It's hard to explain how reliable the fear mod is with just words. I suggest trying it out in-game, it truly does make a difference. I've been using it for two months now and never went back to white phosphorous.

      It's 50% fear per shot-BEFORE resists.
      Most enemies(including all grunt variants) have at least 50% fear resist. So against most enemies, it's only actually a 25% chance to inflict fear per shot.

    Man, the amount of work you put in those videos is astounding, I'm in love with them.
    There might be a chance they'll fix the reload delay problem after this, because the devs seem to pay attention to your channel, as they said during the last DevStream that your Wave Cooker video was a great help on fixing the Blistering Necrosis OC (if you want to check, they start talking about it at 11:55, and you're directly mentioned at 12:32).

    I have a couple hundred hours and I'm over level 100 and I'm kinda ashamed how much new stuff I learned here.
    After my total greenbeard phase I never really used it because it felt so weak compared to zhukov's with cryo minelets OC, but knowing all this now (especially the firerate problem) I can't wait to try it out once more after such a long time (especially once I get special powder).

      I have almost 1600 hours in this game and am still learning stuff. Don't be afraid to try out everything, cause guns can go through many changes and builds that make them very good. Whats most important is that whatever build you run you can play it comfortably and thus be a benefit to the team.

      There is no shame in having lots to learn about this game even past 200 hours. Lots of stuff there is poorly-worded, and the game is a casual co-op FPS. I do keep finding new stuff out even past 2k.

    I think the problem when it comes with testing out builds in the field vs testing them out on paper is that players don’t test them out on high enough difficulties. If it works on haz 4/5, it’ll work on haz 2. If it works on haz 2, it won’t necessarily work on haz 4, and probably won’t work on haz 5

    im one of those ppl where i perform better when i make a build based on the playstyle i naturally lean into. Special powder has superior mobility even without it being on scout. Theres huge value in the ability to kite and not die in this game, which is why i also jive so well with RJ250. i even enjoy it more cause its a higher skill cap. But for some reason i never see people using it as a kiting tool. sure, you could launch yourself to further places and thats very useful, but its also like each nade is its own "oh shit" dash button AND a wave clearer at the same time. if you find yourself surrounded, just fire a decent bit into the horde while giving yourself a little boop, and you have the not die value and kill value in one shot. i personally take it into haz 5s as my personal fav secondary build and have even saved games and carried with it, but like i said i build around helping my already valuable traits(mediocre aiming and a bit of tunneling but pretty good awareness regardless and decent reactions). ill always advocate rj250 w/ heat as a viable to straight up better depending on how you play, instead of it being the purely for fun OC most peeps seem to think it is.

      @@WolfHack whatever works best for you lol. ive used em all but i personally never really use stubby anymore, never did much. to get you kinda started on how to think about it, personally i dont like turret upkeep, but i also like something thats a consistent strong presence so i have a single eagle turret with extended mag, no reload speed. the reload is fast enough for me already, esp if i use a jump. and i found myself being picky about where i set up for best FOV for my turret, and id even stand where i think is best and look around, and going as far as giving it height with platforms, so when i was making my build it seemed natural to pick those kinds of skills for my turret. but if you are confident in your aiming you may want a build thats completely different.

    I miss the doom gunner mod so much. It’s still with the old modding page. Came with a unique OC for the broomstick that really gave it that doom feel. Was it a balanced mod? Hell no. Was it fun? YES.

    Can you do a vid on the pickaxe?
    I've been wondering if the damage bonues to weakpoints that some weapons have also apply to the pickaxe while its deployed.
    I can't tell if its my imagionation, or if my pickaxe does more damage when I have my Subata out.
    The pickaxe does 11 direct damage, which can and is affected by the weakpoint damage multiplier and 16.5 splash damage, which is not, totaling to 27.5 damage total.
    A grunt's weakpoint damage multiplier increases damage by two, increasing the 11 direct damage to 22 and therefore the total damage of a pickaxe melee from 27.5 to 38.5.
    Taking the Subata as the first example I can think of, which can be modded to deal 60% more damage upon hitting a weakpoint (taken from the official DRG fan-wicki, so if its wrong, bite me), meaning that the 22 direct damage would be increased by 60% or multiplied by 1.6, increasing it from 22 to 35.2 and the total damage of the pickaxe melee along with the splash damage to 51.7 damage.
    However, I really have a hard time telling if the damage I see above the Grunts is 38.5 damage or 51.7.

    Admission: I was an _adamant_ user of Quickfire Ejector for quite some time, until I saw the reload math in Lazy's original Beumstykk video. Always thought taking two properly aimed shots and reloading quicker was a better call than Dumping The Mag in the general direction of bugkind, and I stand by that - but the math did not. Tried Double Trigger, and can confirm - it feels _really bad_ at first. The reload animation is Goo Bombers in Bungus Fogs slow, and it SUCKS...but eventually you get used to that and start noticing the faster start of the reload. And you notice you're still mostly killing bugs at the same rate, just have to be careful with DT's tendency to dump the second shot unintentionally if you feather the clicker. Once you get over the innate "Euugh..." of the slower reload animation, DT does the job without issue.
    I will say that I'm also a longtime user of the Fear mod, but that was before the Drak. Pre-Drak, Scout had kinda donkeyballs wave clear, and being able to scatter bugs occasionally saved my bacon. It was a worthwhile thing to experiment with, but now Scouts have the Drak. With AoE bullets and a Bouncy mod that turns grunt waves into chowder, or a shocky mod that CCs packs whilst also turning them into chowder. The Fear mod still has a place, but it lost a lot of utility if you're an unrepentant Drak whore like I am now. The math behind WP is really good to know, so thanks for that one, LM.

      My "Doom Slayer" build revolves around MHD Aggressive Venting and Jumbo Shells with FTBS.
      To my delight, the massive overlap of constant fear does wonders for thinning hoards and chunking away at them with ease. By the time the feared bugs return you're basically doing a Dio impersonation, questioning the bug's intent to approach you with 80% of the swarm already gone.
      I'm still tinkering with the grenades. I love IFGs to death but I'm not sure they are necessarily "the play" with a build like this since you already have an insane amount of CC with both of your weapons.

      drak is so good. i was a M1K user but the things you can do with the drak now gives me reasons to swap to it from time to time, especially the rewiring overclock + hot feet. gk2 buff when

    I like your videos but you should take some care in comparing tier mods to perks like Born Ready. When you say you should be taking Born Ready because it's good with this gun, your evidence also directly favors taking the related tier mod. Instead, you may wish to make a video analyzing the perks and the situations in which they are useful.

      He does have one explaining the problems it has along with the ocs, so might not happen again. Still, i do wish we get a more detailed break down on its base stats, which is a huge part of the problem as well.

      @@sturmmagnunstein1008 honestly, I tried the DRAK twice and I'm just... Really not a fan. And my aim isn't good enough for the M1000, plus I'm not a big fan of it either. I know people consider the GK2 to be underpowered, but using it with AI Stability Engine works much better for me than any of the other Scout primaries.

      @@lucasmoreira2418 i gotta break it to ya, mate. If you dont like the m1k than the gk2 is even worse for you. The gk2 is far more aim intensive because of the poor break points, and though you might feel that it is more forgiving on misses than the m1k due to the ammo count , know that it also has zero capability for crowd control, which with the right mods the m1k can absolutely do. The easy answer is that the gk2 has poor ammo efficiency, but the long story is that it is multifactorial why the ammo efficiency is considered poor. The easy fix i think would be 1) make damage upgrades more meaningful 2)give it an option for blowthrough 3)rework the mod trees to make builds more meaningful.

    i feel like the "double trigger" should've just been the double barrel mod, and also give you a small boost in ammo as well.
    The faster fire rate should've just been the boom stick's default

      I had the idea to "spice it up" since it already competes closely with other reload or burst OCs by making the shockwave wider and reflect projectiles. Making it a more effective anti-swarmer tool and clutch projectile parry for the double ammo trouble (We ultrakill up in here)

      It confuses me why the double-trigger works the way it does, honestly. Maybe they just didn't have code ready to handle consuming two rounds in the same shot?
      They must do now - just have it mod the shotgun for twice the pellet count, and consume two shells akin to M1000's focus shot.

    The more of your videos I watch, the more I'm baffled at how DRG is *this* pants-on-head about the way stats and functions work. I've been using Quickfire Ejector for so long only to learn it doesn't do as advertised because of funny hidden reload numbers.
    That being said, thank you so much for making videos like this that not only set the record straight, but also goes the extra mile in DEMONSTRATING that your word is true. And on a similar note, thank you for the update videos whenever a patch retroactively changes things you show in a previous video.

    Shaped shells is very nice I love that overclock but don't use it because on Xbox I'm not sure for PC but on Xbox you don't always get the hipfire reduction. Some mission you do other missions you don't which when you don't it's practically worthless at that point. You lose the whole meaning of the overclock plus ammo! It's been like this for a while which makes me kinda sad they haven't done anything too it since before update 34

    hm, doubt any glance will be given to this but wonder if doublebarrel is better now that it got a double the shockwave damage (from 20 base to 40 but since 2 shots -at once- extremely quickly that goes up to 80, or 160 if you pick up increased shockwave damage in 4)

    Afaik, that reload delay thing is a quite common way to program reloads into games, TF2 also has that for example; if you pay attention the first reload on a gun that has multiple shots to reload. This is less noticeable tho, because reload canceling is inherent in TF2, and as such isn’t as punishing.
    The simplest fix for this would be removing the delay for the last shot on weapons. The delay should stay otherwise tho, it’s there for a reason.

    A good first step with double barrel would be making it work more simply, i.e. actually firing both shots at once. They could do this pretty easily under the hood, set each shot to consume 2 ammo like charge shots so the effective "magazine" is one shot, and add a +100% pellet count to simulate the second shot. No more wonkiness like the thawing and better effective spread since no mid-shot recoil. I mean it's still almost the same but at least it'd more intuitive and distinct from double trigger without any significant effort needed, fine tuning could come after.

      Yes. If it worked like zhuks/minigun it'd make the recoil better, make it interact with frozen targets more intuitively, and be more understandable in general.
      Since they've been tinkering with more alternate firing modes lately, they could also make you toggle between single shot and double shot with R, making it actually a true clean OC.

    I'm so glad to hear you're doing more of these. I love how in depth and thorough these guides are. I have around 600 and a half hours on DRG by now and I never knew about a lot of the information you make light of in these videos; for example damage type percentages, resistances, the reload issue with the boomstick mod, and especially blistering necrosis pre-patch. Anyways, thank you for continuing this series, I can't wait to see what's next!

    I used to run Double Trigger a lot. I kinda forgot why I switched to Quickfire. Like, idk what switched in my head that made me go 'hrm, this is better' - when DT was working fine for me before. A part of me thinks it happened because I went hard into being a Gunner main and lost track of how good DT actually was when I finally rotated back to playing Scout for a few missions. Went "Why does this feel so bad...?" and then switched to Quickfire. Seems like something I'd do. That DT vs Quickfire revelation is gonna force some growing pains for sure.

    kind of a side note thing that i used to do with the shotgun and epc, the fire effects that can be applied to these weapons and others far as i know can burn those random spider webs you sometimes see in caves. they can be kind of anoying to run into, obscruing your vision and slowing you down. if u shoot these with 1 shot from shotgun/epc they will melt. i cant speak for other weapons with fire exept crisper obviously but they should burn webs. funny enough tho there doesent seem to be an animation for burning the web on anything but the crisper atleast when ur not the host it just disapears after a few seconds but is classified as immidaitly destoryed upon shooting so u can fire and walk though and not be effected, despite it still being there for a few more seconds then gone.

    Very good and informational video, however I feel like the T3 stun mod didn't get enough justice.
    It's not just "a bit more stun time", it more than doubles the stun duration and as you can see in your clip when talking about this mod, the original 2.5 seconds are not even enough to fully kill a warden, you can see it's moving again before you manage to kill it.
    The longer stun works especially well with bullets of mercy, keeping the enemies completely still while you unload your magazine into their weakpoint, but it's also very convenient for any other primary built for weakpoint damage.
    And while it's true that +20% stun chance is not noticeable up close, it allows you to really consistently stun things across the entire cave as the stun is pretty much guaranteed even if very few pellets hit the target. This works especially well against menaces to stop them from hiding or even wardens far away on walls so you have a very clear shot on their weakpoint instead of having a wall of buffed grunts between yourself and them.
    Overall, if you are already building the boomstick for utility with special powder, instead of going for full damage potential, I think that stun mod is really worth considering, with blowthrough mod and gun's base shockwave its still decent for clearing swarmers and grunt waves while also allowing you to stun larger targets for easy shots with single-target-built primary.

    I have a question regarding the reload time. How does the quickfire ejector fare if you fire both shots, but immediately switch to a different weapon, then change back?
    I find this situation to be reasonably common, since the boomstick is a very bursty weapon so you often want to empty the mag then switch to your primary.
    If you switch back to the shotgun in this situation, does the reload speed work as intended or does the fire rate speed still apply?
    This may not make the mod worth picking if it did work, but at least would be interesting to know.

      The fire rate delay before shooting or reloading only matters if you just fired the gun.

    12313 special powder has been my permanent scout secondary for a long long time
    ammo because ammo
    reload speed for quicker reloading mid-air
    more pellets for increasing stun chance
    penetration for better swarm clear
    and incendiary because heat and fire spread are great
    this build also ignites praetorians and oppressors in two shots
    I only swap out t5 heat for elimination because heat is useless against dreads and they also resist fire damage

      incendiary is pretty much always taken because it doesn't decrease damage unlike other similar mods on other weapons

      @@aarepelaa1142 it does help, and using your weapon for both combat and non-combat you really should be efficient with your ammo, so going for maximum fire rate instead of carefully aiming every shot is wasteful
      reload speed fits my playstyle much better, I don't find myself reloading instantly after shooting anyway so the shorter delay before reloading that high fire rate provides doesn't affect me

      He might shotgun blast, then zip/hoverclock, and then reload after all that.

    I've long thought that the DRG devs have some very subtle things in this game that make you feel like you're playing doom just a little bit. I like to role play as the doom guy with engie using the smg and fatboy grenade launcher. Shotgun now works with the pump action mod lol

    I’d like to add something to the double trigger/quick-fire ejector part. Even if you DON’T want to shoot anything (movement with the special powder overclock), double trigger is better. It allows for better in air control and it’s easier to cancel fall damage quickly.

    you know, i always wished DB was good but what is effectively:
    2x pellets
    +1 dmg
    .5x ammo max
    .5x "clip" size
    .5x total blastwave damage (which does hurt in raw damage per shot when it's only 40 damage rather than 80 based on my own build since it goes from 176+80 to 176+40.)
    if i were to give it the true unstable capability it deserves it would be this.
    4x pellets
    3x blast wave damage
    .6x reload timer
    .5x ammo max
    .5x "clip" size
    1.2x spread
    is this busted as all hell? probably. do i care? NO. it's fun, fits what people what to create out of double barrel, and similar to jumbo shells, is designed for giving the finger to bigger targets while also enticing people to risk it all to just deal massive fuck off damage. (also indirectly buffs speed ejector or whatever it's called)

    I usually go with the max damage route, with double sized buckshot, high capacity shells, and armor breaking. I do this because I mainly use the boom stick on beefy and armoured enemies. I usually forget to use it for the regular grunts.
