I think BeamNG is the best game for offroading, because of how the suspension and literally everything else too is modelled so well and it behaves realistically.

it's unfortunate that most online players would rather modify their vehicle into a rocket ship and send it down the highway until they get bored than put together some off road vehicles and go off roading lol
Just done a 4 and half hour crawl with some randoms on Johnson valley NZ servers was honestly the best experience in gaming I’ve had in years all taking good proper off-road lines proper tuning with the final drives and all the goody stuff hopefully I’ll see you on there my names nodman17 🫡
I do both. I have a bad habit of big power for what should be a highway rocket and then stuffing tall springs and knobby tires under it and just seeing how far I can get. Couldn't tell you how many raid/Baja style vehicles I've tried to make out of vehicles that definitely weren't meant to do that sort of driving
Beam is really good at most things, especially off-roading, but it does need better ai when it comes to racing, they normally don't stay on the track. A track mode for the ai would be really cool!
Not just that ,there should be a system where they have difficulty level ,like the ai predicts whats the best way to take a corner instead of us having to set it up ourselves and instead all we need to do is set the checkpoints and boom, a race
There are cars that let you feel every bump in the road if you're driving fast but they don't tell you what the car is doing at all. Then other cars tell you exactly what it's doing but it feels like you are riding on cloud.
When I saw the off road preview, I thought that the developers added dynamic dirt to the game, but it turned out that it was not... But I think that the developers are preparing something interesting!
They really need proper dirt simulation and ground deformation for mud offroading to be actually great. Now most offroading is about rock crawling and that just doesn't work for me. Here in Russia offroading is all about going through dirt and mud, so I hope to see that done better. Actually my dream game is a mix of Snowrunner gameplay and gound sim with BeamNG vehicle sim.
I love this, I started playing Beam Mp a while ago and found the regular off-roading cars weren't doing it for me. So I built and modified some of my own and now I have a nice handful of off-roading cars for any situation in any car. Its so much fun when you find other people also offroading and then you have a convoy of vehicles going through rocky mountains in Johnson or difficult trails in Utah. I have made some friends this way and learned how all the different ways tuning works and made some off-roading trophy truck level beasts. Subscribed and cant wait to see all the future content you make!
Love you videos! You're by far one of my favorite Beam creators. Every aspect of BeamNG is unique and you could play it for hours upon end and still not experience everything this game has to offer, its a unique experience everytime you play.
"build a vehicle you can relate to" me who built a d15 off road truck maxed out i6, locker diffs the shortest variant you can get, basically a 2 door SUV, its a early model d series, atleast thats what the body is, also all the damn lights imaginable edit: also, forgot to say the fact that tire/road noise is a thing is a nice touch, you got big 44's with a tread depth measured in whole ass inches? it gonna be a noisy ride at 60 mph on the road also, truck has a snorkle, big ol' range antenna, 2 of the things, yeah get stuck in trees, yes its got truck nuts, brush guards on the tail lights, a big ol' guard in the front, double roll bars with bed roll bars, and a roll cage and internal roll cage basically, this thing has all the freakin roll barige possible, it looks silly with that many bars but hey, its stronk as shit thats for sure. spotlights too

Tbh I love the idea of offroading in BeamNG, but the lack of any kind of reactions OUTSIDE the vehicle... really kill it. I still prefer offroading in Snowrunner by FAR. Its just not even a contest. If the devs could even add basic things like dirt/mud/water splashes on your vehicle, raindrops, and temperature reactions... then it could be interesting. We also need deeper mud than what we currently have. Obviously I cant expect the same physical mud system that the runner series has coined, but if they COULD do that, it would be amazing and definitely beat the runner series.
How do u get your tires not to pop on every bush bit cos mine just go pop every time i go near a little sticking out grass thats counted as a bush that pops tires
You should for sure get a manual RWD car, a mustang is a great fun car the ones with the coyote engines or a camaro V8 higher end ones are awesome. I've owned an 88 IROCz back in the 90s, and two Subaru WRX Sti's, and a civic SI among other cars, but manual cars are the best it's unfortunate they are rare now, and every year less and less cars come with a manual option, you should for sure get one.
i feel like the chassis flex is a little too much and that flex affects how the vehicles act the flex is probably 4x worse than IRL, probably to make it noticable, for gameplay purposes that being said, the flex probably doesnt affect the driving nearly as much as it looks like it does
@@TalksWithNoise i disagree The body panels have too much sway when under not very much stress Plus, we are likely talking about two very different vehicles... Thinner and more flexible metal sways more than thicker, and a lot of offroad purpose-built vehicles use plastic panels, which are not only less rigid, but lighter and more susceptible to debris, water, or wind forces Sitting still, the basic Gavril D pickup truck has more body panel movement while sitting still than the vehicle its based off of I know because ive seen one in person, not a video for entertainment purposes, which can have aspects exaggerated for fun I have the game, im not saying that everything else is inaccurate, its just that it takes SOFT BODY and cranks it up to 20 while leaving the frame very rigid by comparison
I may give this a check to do comparisons for a future video. Beam vs irl body flex sounds like a fun and interesting experiment. If I could only quantify deflection somehow so hoping the eye-ruler will be good enough to see a difference.
We need just 1 map of off-road trails and courses and all that just for stock beam 😭I get mods but I feel like beam needs just strictly off-road map in game
I'd like to see smaller trucks added to beamng more similar to older imports or 70-90's us based think yota, ranger, s10 etc... Instead of always playing with larger 1500 or larger sized chevys
Not sure if you mean that in terms of sidewall flex or general tire deformation but changing tire pressure thus making the tire flex more does actually change grip; it's quite obvious in offroading situations.
