Most people watch TV to chill, and here I am watching Delroy for months on end despite having no electrical background 🤣 good work.

I don't get why people don't do simple circuit wiring diagrams which literally just show which sockets each circuit is connected to. Just a basic drawing of the shape of the room, squares where sockets are, and then literally just lines between them for each circuit. Just a sheet of paper and a pen and 5 extra mins. Should be done when it's rewired but even in cases like this where someone spends many hours figuring it, just spend 5 extra mins drawing it out and then stick it in the fusebox so the next person isn't spending hours. Would probably help with your own fault finding actually since you're not trying to remember the circuits off the top of your head. I'd go 1 step further and buy loads of £1 notebooks and do the drawing in that and leave the book in the fusebox so it can be kept up to date on any future visits from any engineer, like a logbook.

Anyone else see the main switch off when he’s flicking them back on end of day 1 😂

I wonder if the fault was originally a loose connection shorting on a metal faceplate and just correcting the bad workmanship cleared it. Well done for persevering.

You can't always rely on the customer to know their installation.....he had been walking past the TV but not registered it for ages.......and tv's have to be plugged in somewhere!?

Best to short L- E when belling out as L - N can give you false readings if there is still load on the circuit somewhere

Delroy when fault finding do you ever come to a point where you find the fault. But you have to go beyond such as going into cutting a wall to fix it

  • @Nigel1969

there were some wagos connected in the main board and look like they are not connected to anything....just isolating a twin an cpc.....could that be the other end of that 2.5mm that you couldnt find or???...jobs done now but if you connected that 2.5 mm back into that flush fitting double gang socket and tested for live at those wagos and found it live then that could be the other end etc?. This doesnt explain the fault unless that 2.5 is damaged in the wall or bad joint.....but i think you got a good IR on it...but it does explain where that cable goes....faults can be time consuming tracing them but it does keep the mind stimulated :)....good video Del

Every time you walked past that TV, I said out loud it whats it plugged into and If that shaver shocket had been any closer it might as well been in that basen.

  • @leebell7108

Did you prove that everything unplugged spurs switched off usb sockets in circuit? Even a neon on an accessory can cause a dead short 0.00 meg reading especially when testing L-N

I am glad we don't have ring systems!Far easier to see where the fault is.

So is it not a ring circuit? If not has it been down rated to a 20amp? Or has it just been left on a 32 amp mcb?

Delroy, would a circuit tracer like an amprobe, fluke or greenlee make fault finding easier for you in situations like this one?

    Hi Del,
Thanks for another great video on fault finding, I learn a lot from vids like these. I think that the work was done by some wannabe spark who has all
the gear but no Idea. No qualified Electrician worth their money would dress a CU like that. It looked like everything was just lashed in an done as a
    cheap crap job.

Oh man, I bet you were fairly brain dead after that. The saying _It does your head in_ would apply to that location. I used to do IT before I retired and they let any idiot set up things and then you had to figure out what they did to try and fix it and like this place *nothing* is documented.
Thank you for the video Delroy. 👍
