  • Today I am sharing my honest review of Purple Carrot. This meal delivery kit is completely plant based. I ordered the 2 person plan which includes 3 recipes a week and I added on the parfait breakfast recipe. This video is not sponsored. I paid my own money to receive a box.
    My total for these meals was $66.00.
    I could not find a code for you on their website but did search RetailMeNot. Try using the code AHV when checking out for $30 off your first box.

    The comments section, wow. First of all, Vanessa, your finances are your business. Anyone who thinks they know what you should and shouldn't be spending on should probably put that energy into their own budget. Second, you're the first person that I've seen on UA-cam that has purchased these meal delivery kits on your own and not been sponsored or sent for free. Therefore , I actually value your opinion on them much more. I loved that you purchased a plant based one, as I have a daughter the same age as Paige and she is also mostly plant based. It's tough to find new recipes for her, so this would definitely be worth it for that. One more thing, I can see the convenience of these meal kits for certain lifestyles. For instance, I used to work in a hospital on call and put in many hours most weeks. This would have been great for that because it would've saved me a lot of time and energy from meal planning to grocery shopping and I still could have put a healthy, home cooked meal on the table. Thank you for your effort, girl. Keep the videos coming. 😘❤🙌

    Vanessa I love your channel and hate that there have been so many negative comments on this video 🙁 I know every one has their own opinion but sometimes people just need to keep their opinions to theirselves and let others live their lives. It isn’t like this video series is hurting anyone! I think this series is awesome! There are soooooo many meal delivery companies now that it can be hard to figure out which ones is worth trying, which works for your family and which ones are budget friendly! This series is a big help to anyone thinking of using the meal delivery options! I think by doing this you filled a void on UA-cam that wasn’t there and have a fresh idea with this! I know you will but keep doing you!! I love both your channels and have been missing the vlogs! PS I don’t like mushrooms either and I don’t think I will ever get over it! Hugs friend!

    Are the price of vegetables and other groceries that much more expensive in Texas then other places to make these worth the money? Based on where I live I can get the groceries and follow a recipe and make it myself cheaper.

      LemonadeMom thank you. I guess I never looked at the prices before. I am a stay at home mom and make everything from scratch. We raise our own animals for meat and grow lots of veggies to can and freeze. For my family I guess it wouldn't be worth it. However, my sister in law gets hello fresh. For her it's worth it because she works full time and so does my brother in law. They don't have time to go grocery shopping. If it wasn't for Hello fresh they would eat out every night at the bar and grill in town. She says it's cheaper then eating out and healthier.

      Good grief, people. No one thinks these meal services are for saving money. They are for convenience, ease of use, etc. They're not for everyone. If you have time to find recipes, meal plan, shop, etc., then by all means do that.

    New subsciber here, Thank you for this video and others like it. I have been contemplating this type of service because I am disabled and get worn out easily. We have been eating out often and I'm so sick of it. Mostly fast food so feeling guilty because it's not healthy, doesnt taste very good and still costs us about $7.00 - $9.00 per person. Tried going to a few family restaurants and costs about $12..00- $16.00 each plus a tip. Also very disappointed in the food so it's really not worth it. I prefer to eat plant based but my family doesn't so I may need to get on 2 different plans.i get tired of trying to come up with meal ideas so I think this would be worth it. I've checked into taking vegan cooking classes but they are more expensive than thiese programs. I think it will be worth it because of all the recipes they send. This video has been very helpful.

    Yikes to Kelly's comment, it seems like she thinks people shouldn't live their lives because they are saving money for something or trying out something new. I on the other hand am enjoying this series, what mama couldn't use an easy dinner sometimes that's healthier than a trip to a fast food restaurant? Sure, it's a splurge and some of these services are expensive but I don't think anyone would order them for dinner every day week after week. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to your next one!

    Another great review! I’m loving this video series! I know it’s a bit pricey but people are forgetting the convenience and ease for some. For example, my family eats out a lot because I’m sick a lot and don’t have the energy to shop, prep and cook home cooked meals like I want to. The meal services eliminates at least two of those steps so that energy can be placed on just preparing the meal for some of those that are chronically ill like myself. I appreciate you doing this so that we will know what’s the best option for us! Tyfs 😊❤️👍🏼

    This may or may not be sad however, I was never raised on fruits and vegetables and neither was my mom. So all of this is so unfamiliar to me. I’d love to go vegan, for a few different reasons. I thought getting food sent to me would be a good start, but I also don’t know how to cook and I’ve seen that with which mean plan you pick there is a few different options but one of them are “quick and easy.” I’m also extremely picky and I was planning on forcing myself to eat the meals sent to me or starve. That might seem stricked or mean but that is the self discipline I need to finally learn at age 19. I have no idea what I can eat or how to cook certain plants, and vegan meals. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    WOW what is wrong with people and their opinions? If you do t have some nice to say then don’t say anything at all. If a viewer doesn’t like the subject then don’t watch the video. I watch this type of video and dream and wish I could order we just can’t in this season of life. Let’s say even if Vanessa is looking for sponsors isn’t that part of the job when you UA-cam.
    As far as “trying” to show ways to save money on food and groceries it’s becoming nearly impossible to do that. Couponing and sales are not near as good as they use to be.
    What I think might of made this video awesome is mom and daughter in the kitchen together preparing them and maybe showed Paige trying them (you could of just showed the plate and her eating) then she could of done a voice over on her thoughts. Or maybe shared on her channel that part of her thoughts. She has an amazing opportunity to share about her food lifestyle I’m sure there are other teens who could relate. Does she like being in the kitchen and cooking or is that not her thing? Talking hands have become popular lately. That seems perfect for her.
    Vanessa you are great. You do you and to heck with the negativity. The negative people are probably bored and hate their own lives. 😘

      Paige isn't a fan of being on camera. She will sometimes but it is rare. I ordered another one of these kits for her and she is going to try cooking them herself with minimal help from me. Maybe I'll get a little of that on camera if she gives the ok :)

    This video makes me feel like you are out of touch with who your typical viewer is. You have put yourself out there as a stay-at-home mom of a relatively large family who is trying to save money. This video just doesn't fit with that. It honestly feels like you're just fishing for sponsorships with all these meal kit reviews. I'm sure you'll delete this, but I'm not trying to be mean. It's just disappointing.

    • @LifebyVanessa
      @LifebyVanessa  5 років тому +9

      Wow, I’m sorry you feel that way. I specifically said I picked this service for my daughter to try, who has made the choice to try all vegan recipes. I see absolutely nothing wrong in paying a little “extra” to learn a few new recipes that my daughter will enjoy eating since she has chosen a different lifestyle than the rest of our family. I paid my own money for this kit. As far as the other kits I’m reviewing this month....I decided to try these out to share the convenience these types of services provide. Some of them are definitely more expensive than others but I don’t see them as blowing anyone’s budget at all. With summer just around the corner, I myself am looking for one or two time savers in my everyday life to focus more on my children while they have time off from school. I see these meal kits as an awesome way to do just that while also giving a little more inspiration in the kitchen and giving you an opportunity to try new things. If they aren’t for you then that is ok, but I disagree with these not fitting with who my typical viewer is.

    • @elizabetharcher7109
      @elizabetharcher7109 5 років тому +5

      Well, I can agree to disagree. Honestly I would never pay that much for a meal service. I think I just misinterpreted the general theme of your channel. I subscribed to your channel because I am also a SAHM mom of 4 and felt I could relate to you. I love finding ways to save money, and I thought that was what a lot of your videos were about, but lately they are not. I'm not of a mindset where I want to spend my money on meal subscription services or trips to Disney, but that's just me. It's your channel and obviously you are free to do your own thing. 🙂 Best wishes.

    • @LifebyVanessa
      @LifebyVanessa  5 років тому +6

      I’m not sure how saving up to take my family on an a trip to Disney (which we have never been and has been planned for years) is a bad thing. Definitely agreeing to disagree. I would have to say that my channel is not for you if you feel this negative towards it. Find something that puts a smile on your face and inspires you 👍

    • @elizabetharcher7109
      @elizabetharcher7109 5 років тому +7

      Nothing wrong with saving up for a special family trip. I just know your family has taken unconventional measures to save money, with the end goal being the custom dream home. With ground not even broke on that home yet I just don't understand how Disney is a priority, but again that's just me. I'll stop at that because I can see this conversation just going around and around and I doubt we will change each other's minds about anything. I definitely have channels I love that I will continue to enjoy. Thanks.
