    So I know most of us have sticker shock BUT $150 is $50 per meal which makes each serving $8.33 for a plate for a family of 6.
    We are a family of 5 and if we go out to eat McDonald's can't even give me that. It is so worth the not planning and trying new things. Like you said a weekly thing no but an as needed thing I think it's so worth it.

      I totally agree! My family eats out more than I cook and it’s definitely much more expensive even at Mc Donald’s when buying for my family of 4 & sometimes 6 depending on how many of my kids are home. I’d much rather pay the $150 for the convenience and quality food.

    I hope you’ll do a breakdown of pro and cons for each box at the end of the series and your give like your top 3 picks after you’ve had a chance to try all the boxes. Tyfs 😊❤️👍🏼

    I’d like to try home chef because the internet says a lot of good things about the service but I live alone and the minimum order starts at 2 people. I don’t want to have to store the extra meals for more than a day or two because of freshness.

    I totally get it now. Making your own and spending the money verses saving money buying your own groceries and making your own. It really didn't hit me till last night. Normally I shop and making everything. Today is my daughters birthday and instead of baking cupcakes for her class I bought them. I could have made them for less then $5.00 but I went to the store and spent $15.99. I am also guilty of using walmart grocery pick up because sometimes I don't want to go in the store. Yes I am a stay at home mom but some priorities go over others. It's getting into the busy farming time of the year and sometimes you have to make a choice spend more time in the fields or stop what your doing and go make dinner. I get it!!

    I love Home Chef. We have been receiving them for about 7 or 8 weeks now. Yes it is a little more money, but I would buy ingredients to make recipes and never use the ingredients again and end up throwing them out. So I have noticed that I waste a lot less food, grocery bills are a little lower and the convenience is a no brained.

    • @meganallen3873

      Have you done it 7-8 weeks consistently or do you skip weeks ? I hate the planning and shopping for the ingredients that like you said I will use for one recipe and then waste. Plus I always spend more at the grocery because I buy things I see and don’t need 😬 I think this is gonna be perfect

    They do so many deals that make it worth it. Got half off for a month. This is 4.50 a serving. I'm a single guy living alone so I get 3 meals, 6 servings a week for 27 bucks. I don't eat both servings in one go and always have leftovers so it's enough to feed me for basically 2.5-3 days for like 30 bucks. Not bad.

    I have a Groupon code for $24 for Three meals for Two. Normal weekly price quotes at $60./week. As long as I can tailor deliveries and control prices (and keep ;ppking for coupons) it might not be too bad. I can certainly cook, but the process of shopping, then all the prep work at home? I find often a percentage of what I buy at the SuperMarket goes to waste, and that's not good.

    We tried Home Chef meals (for two) through a grocery store. The instructions usually list four to six steps, but each step actually has three or more substeps, so it's misleading.
    My daughter is the chef using the product. She learned a bit about the cooking process and liked the meals. She pointed out, as a new cook, that the steps weren't exactly clear or as simple as stated.

    Question. One; were you paid by this company for your review? Two; for a more honest review why didn’t you show all six portions together individually on standard dinner plates (6plates six meals in one photo)? I have observed many reviews for this company. It is for people who don’t usually cook, or claim to not be able to. Being American, our portions, I will admit are larger. Depends on the person I suppose. That being said, would you recommend this, honestly to a home with six adults?

    • @LifebyVanessa
      @LifebyVanessa  4 роки тому

      Gigi, I was not paid for this review. Nor did they send me the product for free. There is a difference. I paid for it myself. Food was good but is probably not enough for six adults. With having three smaller children, the quantity works for us. However, it’s also not something I would rely on all or most of the time. I would usually only get a service like this when I know I need it due to busy schedules or wanting to try something I wouldn’t normally think to make. Definitely not a replacement for going to the store and cooking myself.

    Dinnerly will change your entire order at their discretion. I purchased this for my 21 year old son. The orders were selected to be simple to prepare and things he would like. The order was changed without our knowledge. Emails weresent from Dinnerly with a subject line saying "Get excited for next weeks recipes! Choose your next tasty dinners." Since we had already chosen the meals, there was no reason to pay attention to the emails. Even if you did click on the emails, it just shows please click here to update your box, NO CLEAR STATEMENT THAT WE CHANGED YOUR ORDER TO OUR CHEFS SELECTION FOR YOU. Finally the 1st email came on the 5th and by the 6th Dinnerly had already processed the order. Called them and they said so sorry, but cut-off date has passed and your credit card has been charged. They told me they were sorry but there was nothing they could do. We cancelled all future orders, and will contact our credit card company to dispute. Don't go with them, just not worth it. Also, in order for Dinnerly to keep cost down they do not print recipe cards, you have to go online for them, also you must have extra supplies at home to complete meal. So it can be complicated to make everything, you can just as easily go to the grocery and find your own recipes online.

    Ridiculous! I cook every day. I can make that shrimp linguine for 6 for around 8 bucks total. Same with the rest. I suppose if you are comparing to going for fast food than yeah maybe. But if you're cooking at home you can fill up a shopping cart at Aldi for 150.00. And eat well for 2 weeks.

      Wow what area do you live that has shrimp so cheap? My Aldi has shrimp ranging anywhere between $6-8 a bag. We love it so I use about 2-3 bags for a pasta dish like that. For convenience it is worth it especially if you do the quick meals or the meals labeled as lunch. I know that when we have rough months as far as time we eat out at least 2x a wk which is not good.
