Didn’t know your channel before. I’m impressed by the quality of your review. Visually stunning and very well edited. Thumbs up from me and greetings to Australia 🇦🇺.
Suspension is hard. With zero preload the static sag is almost non existent. Not good. I think the spring are too hard on the rear. Rear suspension upgrade is on my wish list. Two up and heavier riders may not have an issue. Touring mirrors although smaller are much better over stock. I did add extenders big improvement Ebay genuine parts from India is your friend. The seat is ok for short commute but could be better. It’s on my list of mods. Stock rubber ok in the dry but not Michelin Road5 silica in the wet. Yes I upgraded rubber on a new bike. Fuel mapping is good but probably for emission it’s tuned lean. I wish the rev limiter kicked in a couple hundred rpm later. Gear shifter I tried a rose joint to take out the slop but it hits on outside when changing down. Needs a grinder to test further. Brakes adequate the front lever kind of has some fake resistance before pads set I think is for new riders to reduce grabbing the front but makes light trail braking harder to feel. Not a problem just kinda weird. Gearing 5th is over drive unless your going down hill 4th same top speed. To rev limiter after break in 1st 40km 2nd 75/80km, 3rd almost 100. Three speed in the city. Paint ok. Pin striping surely they could pay a few rupee more and give the kid on the assembly line a minute to apply it straight.
Wow, thanks, might just stick with UA-cam for now though. Glad you liked the review and good to hear you enjoyed the Sydney destination part of the video. We are trying to do that with all of our motorcycle reviews, highlight an area of our beautiful country
Hey Matt, I reckon if I didn’t have the Meteor I’d buy one to commute on. Be interesting to see how you go on one, it does feel to be a smaller bike than both the Classic and the Meteor. Addi Road is wonderful, great coffee and food @kosharikorner and the markets are excellent
I already own a 650 but Id gladly recommend this to beginner riders/2nd commuter. Just really hate how we have an outdated 400cc highway rule where we live. Really limits the market for long term bike ownership.
What an enjoyable review 🙌🏻 with down to earth points of view. American reviews bash and trash everything below 50 horse power and you only hear “highway speed this, top speed that” and sincerely at 48 yo I couldn’t care less. What a scenery btw Subscribed, greetings from 🇲🇽
Thanks for watching and subscribing. I think it’s all about perspective. I love riding quicker and more powerful bikes but also love riding lower capacity machines and realistically you can’t use the mist of the power on some of these high capacity sports bikes. Would choose to commute on a litre bike, hell no, give me a Hunter or a Meteor ( or a Bonnevlle) any day.
Good points. Not everywhere is the same as the US. I have a HD springer in the US and a little Honda XR 150 enduro in the Philippines. Different tools for different jobs..
Just discovered your channel and now subscribed. Loved this video, and the bike is a beaut. It's really well priced over here in the UK so I am sure they'll be very popular. Love the engine note and looks, it's great! 👍
Welcome aboard and thanks for subscribing. We aim to put up one video a week every Thursday afternoon here in Sydney. Yea agree the Hunter is a great little bike
Lot of bike for the price as with all the Enfields. All the are doing is what Honda did with the 50. Cheap, reliable with all the gear you need. As for type of riding . I toured the UK on a 50 in the late 1960s I'd be happy to tour on the 350.
So true, these are seriously cool little bikes that just like the Classic 350 are not pretending to be something that they are not. Glad you liked the review, plenty more reviews coming up on the channel.
A very good assessment. A point you missed: The black finish is really tough and hard wearing (It is on my Meteor). That and the gaiters on the front forks and matt paint finish result in a bike that will be very easy to keep clean and stay looking new.
That’s a good point. I actually have a Meteor and a Continental GT and can confirm that the matte black on the engine cases is much easier to keep looking clean and like new. Having said that, I still like shiny things.
@@BikerTorque Me too. I was thinking the typical young city commuter type would be better off with a less intensive maintenance regime. I remember that as a student biker I didn't clean my bike from one year to the next and didn't have the facility to do so.
@@BikerTorque yes, I know it would slow the handling, but I keep thinking the Hunter would look good with 19 inch wheels on both ends, and a longer swingarm.
Great video! What's that circular device next to the speedometer? Is it the australian version of the Tripper? Do you know where I can gather more infos about it?
Thanks for your review! I'll have the option, likely, of the Classic or the Hunter at my local shop. Which would your prefer for a newer rider who sits around 5' 11" and who plans mostly to commute on city roads and isn't worried about much else than looks and an easy ride?
Honestly, either would be absolutely fine, go with the one you like the looks of better. Having said that the Classic might feel ever so slightly bigger. Flor me, I’d take a classic, although I do own a Meteor which is my go to commuter bike
Thank you for the great review! I've just subscribed!! I live in the USA and am hoping that the Hunter 350 comes here soon. I own a Triumph Bonneville, but would like to get something smaller & lighter. I'm looking at this and the Kawasaki z400. Very different bikes, I know. Style vs zippiness! Both great options, I just need to decide!!! :) LOL
Thanks for the sub! Glad you enjoyed the video. Won’t be long till the Hunter comes to the states. I’m about to get the Super Meteor for review, very much looking forward to that
I don't want to be too critical of RE but the price point is too high. We are talking 350cc at 20hp with a 185kg weight. A husky 401 is double the hp at only 154kg all LED with quickshifter at only 7950 ride away. I struggle to see the value personally. RE is supposed to be a more budget friendly company but due to shipping costs we don't see that value here in Australia.
@@BikerTorque l have 4 Enfield singles and a 650 in the garage love riding them all. Especially the meteor. No Hunter yet. But are sollie tempted. I have other bikes but the Enfields all seems to be my go to bikes other Enfield Riders will know what l mean.
@@waynescott2540 I’d agree with that. We’ve got 2 in the garage here, along with some others. The Meteor is my go to bike as a commuter, even take it for the odd weekend ride. Equally Lo e the Continental GT, but that’s my partners bike so don’t get the chance to ride it all that often as she commutes on it and obviously her ride if we get out for a ride together. Great bikes, we are getting a Super Meteor this week for review, really looking forward to that.
All them brothers out there, too broke for that dream interceptor like me, have good days now. Really that Lil brother to the interceptor, but plus on the weight management and manuverability, also advantageous for a short, dumb brick like me
Yes, could get out and ride but only in your local council area. I’m lucky where I live I have most of the Royal National Park in my area, so great roads to ride on.
Hello from the UK 🇬🇧 nice video nice bike I have the Scram 411, I think Royal Enfield have it right just look at the bigger bikes and ask yourself do I really need all that extra power ? riding full tap can be a lot more fun 👍
And hello to you from Australia. Glad you enjoyed the video. I agree that RE have got it right. I love riding much bigger bikes with loads more power, but there is something just so fun about riding these lower capacity machines. Thanks for watching, if you are interested I have also reviewed the Scram (great bike by the way) l, Himi, Classic 350 and both of the twins. You can find them in our review playlist
Great video, really enjoyed it. Why is it this bike is clearly marked Hunter but in the UK is is called the Hntr. I am sure i seen something that said the word Hunter was a trademark of something else and RE had to get round it by using Hntr but your bikes clearly say Hunter........confused
what is your and your pillion height? me and my friend both 5'9" rode on it and pillion seat felt way too small, I didnt fit properly. Nevertheless I bought it.
I’m about 5’9” also. I had a few people on the back, my partner who is about 5’7”, tegan in the photo who is the editor of the channel is 5’10” and had my 15 year old son who’s 5’11” no major issues with any of them, yes a little bit cramped
I have few hundred miles on my Hunter here in sunny Indonesia. Few observations from an older rider. Rear shock springs are too stiff, there is almost no static sag and very little rider sag at my 175 lbs. The front is sprung much better (softer) which makes for an un balanced suspension. The rear end is simply not compliant, this is the biggest issue with the bike. I have big hands and find the leavers at the far end of comfortable reach, with the clutch lever adjusted with some extra free play, the clutch is spot on. I wonder how you find the levers in terms of distance from the bars? I would assume, riders with smaller hands would start feeling that the levers are too far. Clutch is nice and smooth with good feeling pull. The engagement point is however on a short/little clutch lever movement side. I wish that the the cam on the clutch was not as aggressive. If I just ride without looking at the speedo, it seems I always end up around 50 mph, the bike is super happy and relaxed. The shock will have to be upgraded, the rest are just few personal observation. It is a great "big" bike, here in Indonesia we ride 150cc mostly.
It was on the press bike when they sent it to you us. Maybe check with your Royal Enfield dealer. Although I suspect it might have been a limited run for the press bikes
Tachometer please. That said, I could live without one and this bike is absolutely gorgeous. I have ridden bikes from 80cc to ten years on a 1000cc and I think I would love this bike for tooling about town and cruising down our country lanes.
@@BikerTorque no actually i wanted to buy the spoked wheel version the RETRO FACTORY SILVER because i wanted a classic look bit the only short coming was it has a drum brake on the back the front has a disk though, so i git the METRO DAPPER ASH with alloys which got dual disc with abs and i want to change the wheel to spoke but im not sure if i can retain disc on the wheel
I see the air filter cover and electrics cover say HUNTER and not HNTR like the United Kingdom. Must be something to do with copyright.? Yes, a superb motorcycle which is very forgiving in its gear ranges. It has as much speed that I will require and rides happily from 25MPH upwards in 5th but the 4th gear, that's the magical gear that offers the biggest torque range. It emits a lovely powerful thud-thud-thud that turns most heads. The road holding is excellent because of the low C of G along with very good braking. For the money it is hard to beat. Fuel economy keeping it in ECO Gear is 100+ mpg. The only bad point is the rear suspension could do to be a bit softer and then I would give it 10/10 for a cheapo motorcycle.
Hey Jake, glad you like the bike and enjoyed Sydney. I seem to remember having a couple of beers with a few of the crew when the Kitty Hawk was in town in 2001, although 2001 was a bit of a blur so it could have been the crew from the SS Minnow. Either way thanks for watching

I doubt it. As you say it would be similar to the interceptor, and a 650cc bike is not the purpose for the Hunter, it’s a very lightweight learner/ commuter bike, which it does brilliantly
Yes it will…..but if the type of riding you do or location means that you have to do lots of highway riding then I’d say it’s probably not the right bike for you. It’s a brilliant little urban commuter and back road bike.

When I was there he offered me a test ride on the Hunter. I had a big smile on my face that entire ride. One week later that demo bike was in my garage. 🙂 What an incredibly fun bike.
Very cool! Love the Hunter and all of the RE 350s. In fact my daily rider is a Meteor 350
Royal Enfield is really knocking it out of the park with all the new model choices.
100% agree. Super Meteor could be their best seller yet

Not all the paint schemes are matte. In fact, I think the majority of them are gloss.

No need to strip the paint - you only need to clear coat it for a gloss finish..
Good point
Re has just nailed the paint job on these bikes ❤️❤️
Yeah I think I agree
Thanks for your very detailed analysis of the bike.
Slick! The presentation and the bike. Cool riding shots. Nice job thanks

Yes agree it’s the near perfect learner or commuter bike. That 400cc law does seem outdated
What an enjoyable review 🙌🏻 with down to earth points of view.
American reviews bash and trash everything below 50 horse power and you only hear “highway speed this, top speed that” and sincerely at 48 yo I couldn’t care less.
What a scenery btw

Thanks for watching and subscribing. I think it’s all about perspective. I love riding quicker and more powerful bikes but also love riding lower capacity machines and realistically you can’t use the mist of the power on some of these high capacity sports bikes. Beautiful bike, hope this brings the young people into riding
Sales figures look good globally so hope so also
A very good assessment.
I think I’ll like the Hunter when it comes to the United States, but am I the only one who thinks the rear wheel looks like it’s too far forward?
I know what you mean in terms of looks, but that shorter wheelbase certainly sharpens up the handling.
@@BikerTorque yes, I know it would slow the handling, but I keep thinking the Hunter would look good with 19 inch wheels on both ends, and a longer swingarm.

I've got to admit Im not all that familiar with the Husky.

Not sure, Hunter may be trademarked in the UK. Glad you liked the video, thanks for watching
If I could have two bikes, but I bought a classic 350 at the very end of last year.
The Classic 350 is a great bike also, and seriously stylish.
what is your and your pillion height? me and my friend both 5'9" rode on it and pillion seat felt way too small, I didnt fit properly.
Thanks for your observations as an owner, all good points. Thanks for watching

I bought for $13.000 Aud in Indonesia, crazy tax 😂😭
whoa, that’s an insane amount of tax
Excellent video. How is the maintenance cost?
If my Meteor is anything to go by, not to bad, and additionally easy to service yourself if you are so inclined
Yes, not sure why the typography change on the models. Could be as you say, something to do with copyright.
I like the bike and since you’re talking about Sydney. I had a really great time there back in ‘05. USS Kitty Hawk.

I wonder if RE will bring a Super Hunter? I guess it would be too much like the Interceptor
I doubt it. As you say it would be similar to the interceptor, and a 650cc bike is not the purpose for the Hunter, it’s a very lightweight learner/ commuter bike, which it does brilliantly
Can it keep up with 110kph australian high ways?
Yes it will…..but if the type of riding you do or location means that you have to do lots of highway riding then I’d say it’s probably not the right bike for you. It’s a brilliant little urban commuter and back road bike.
