    Each to their own. I love my Hunter, and it puts a wide smile on my face. And it sounds better than the other 350s with the stock exhaust. Hi from Ireland.

      I test drove a Hunter (also the interceptor) and there's plenty to dislike. It's slow, bulky, has difficulty crusing at 100/110kph, does vibrate (although RE owners won't admit it), only a 5 speed transmission and the suspension is stiff for starters. A 350 with only 20hp is quite anemic as performance goes. I have a stock 150cc road bike that is rated at 19hp. To each their own, which I respect but there's plenty to dislike. I'm buying the Speed 400, myself.

    Just done over 3000 miles on my Rebel Red (need to book that second service!). Been camping on it twice this summer with all the gear, it didn't miss a beat. Commuting 12miles each way over the South Downs twice a week is a joy! Love the sound, the fuel economy and especially the little backfire on the overrun! I look back at it when it's parked, I go round Sainsbury's trying to spot it out the window and walk back to my office from the despatch area at work via the car park just so I can look at it. The flowing lines of that teardrop tank merge into the curve of the seat so beautifully. Everyone should have one!

    I've always loved singles but was sceptical that I could live with such a low powered machine - after test riding one I was sold and ordered one the next day. As you say it's not quick but the low down delivery, handling and fantastic sound make it so enjoyable to ride and own. I truly believe the 'secret sauce' is its lazy long stroke 2 valve engine that is pretty unique in the market. If you're a year round commuter the servicing schedule will be frequent but this bike is also a home mechanics dream once the warranty is done.. This experience has certainly taught me not to discount anything until you've actually tried it.

    Recently found a used 2023 Hunter, Rebel Blue, with the barend mirrors, bash plate, and the engine guards already installed for $3500 US. Only 1100 miles on the clock. First oil change and tappet service already done. This motorbike is absolutely perfect for two lane, country, back road jaunts, and for in town errand running. It is a well behaved, polite and an easy going, laid back motorcycle. Your review is spot on. R.E. really hit a home run with this motorcycle.

    As a returning rider from a hiatus of some 35 years, I purchased my Hunter after falling in love with the looks of the bike, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a blast to ride. I’ve taken mine on everything from city streets, US Highways, and on mountain roads in North Carolina doing some much longer rides and moto camping even, and it’s performed exceptionally well, especially on the curves and bends which were where it shinned. I even had an 80 liter bag on the back with all my camping gear going up and down mountain roads and twisties with absolutely no problem. The seat is super comfy, which doing a couple of hours on it and you don’t feel the least bit tired, fully ready to do more of the same. 😊

      That's awesome. I live in Canada and basically want to do the same thing. Haven't ridden in 30 years, and am in my early 50's now and just want to putter around the back roads, take some trips and try camping. I don't crave insane speed or breaking the law, I just want to enjoy the scenery. My one concern was my poor butt on long trips and maybe the riding position. I'm 6'0" and about 285. This confirms to me that I'm making the right choice.

    I like your opinion; the Meteor 350 was my first bike for this just over 50 guy last year. Everyone said I would quickly grow out of it and need a bigger bike. But I had the same answer...why would I want to spend 4-5 times as much for a bigger, heavier bike, that I will try to ride the same way. I don't need to break the speed limit, pop wheelies or outrun the popo so it would just be a waste

      I presently drive a Harley Iron 883 and whilst I love it, I use it mostly in a small urban area and most of the time I'm in 1st or 2nd gear as speed limit locally is 30kmh in most areas and 50kmh in the faster areas, and I have no desire to drive around breaking the speed limit all the time which is ridiculously easy to do on my bike simply when I change from first to second gear. I'm seriously thinking of getting the Hunter 350 as it looks like the kind of style I like, a powerful enough engine for small urban area with a few hills, and powerful enough. I'm also considering the Meteor 350. I'm a big and heavy guy though, which is why I'm a bit worried about the comments about suspension and wondering if the build quality of the bike will hold up well? Wouldn't mind your opinion if you can?

    Great review! I agree. The RE Hunter replaced my scooter as my daily ride this year and being late to work has never been more fun. Full throttle on the country road, sneaking through the city jam and a nice relaxed ride on the way back. fuel consumption and servicing fees are tiny. It's a great choice if you want a practical yet fun bike. The suspension and engine size is an issue if you are a bigger bloke, if you are fearhet weight like me, no issue whatsoever. Bikes are like shoes, there isn't one to fit everyone.

      2nd pretty until you stop
      it doesn't rev very high so it has plenty useable torque in very low revs too. And the low rev popping sound always makes me smile!

It's going to be one year and I can confidently say that after riding it for 6500+ kms, buying hunter 350 was one of my best decisions of my life. Yes, suspension is still a major problem specially while covering Indian roads but for a person with shorter height (5' 6" as of mine) this is one of the coolest, low cost Royal Enfield one can afford.

My only gripe was the side stand which held the bike so upright I was worried about it falling over. 10 minutes with a file on the cast stop block and it was sorted.

    I ride a 1100 moto guzzi. It is a monster at 660 lbs and frighteningly fast. I really like the Royal Enfields, they seem like the best deal out there today. I bought the moto guzzi used and just giving it what it needed battery, tires, shocks, fluid changes, and replacing speedo cost me over $1000 and I do all the work myself. For about the same money (used cost plus maint) I could get a Royal Enfield new. They are a good deal.

    Nice little bike, I've not ridden the Hunter, but I have ridden a Meteor 350. At the time I had a Rocket lll but suffered a stroke early 2022 and found the Rocket too heavy after my recovery. I sold the Rocket to a friend, I was gutted as at 66 years old at the time I thought this was the bike to have till I shuffled off this mortal coil. I tried many bikes including the Meteor 350, a cracking little bike but after the Rocket 20bhp was distinctly feeble, although around town and on country roads it was brilliant. I ultimately ended up with a Benelli 502C as I find a lot of bikes these days don't mesh with my stiff, non-bendy joints. I did try an Interceptor 650 but found it uncomfortable. I've ended up with an immaculate Kawasaki Drifter VN800, possibly if the Super Meteor had come out I would have bought one of them. I'm a new subscriber so I'm working my way through your channel.

    Thanks for the excellent review! Looks like an excellent bike, though the styling isn't my cup of tea, personally. Taste is subjective, however, and I can see it's charm.
    You mention wind resistance as a negative, though you didn't in your T120 review. Would you say the same applies to both bikes?
    I'm 58 and only passed my test two weeks ago. Bought an Interceptor, and love it.

      It’s more prominent on the HNTR due to its size (smaller tank) and my legs are further forward/out than on the T120, but it’s a downside of every naked bike. It almost doesn’t need to be mentioned because with a bike with no fairing/screen you must expect wind at any speeds, but often people comment that it’s not addressed so try to include when time allows!

They are the only ones that look super cool, I'm already a huge fan of their design without knowing anything else. The "only" problem is that they make so many cool motorcycles that it's super hard to choose. #royalenfield #royalenfieldmotorcykles

I just wish I had the money to pay for all of it rn (plus I need to turn 24 to do the open license over here in Germany, which I am still a month shy off atm). I honestly feel like this is one of those things where actually thinking about doing it is a sign to just go ahead and do it sooner rather then later... I was getting into Motorcycles because of a little show called Sons Of Anarchy and once I realized, that Motorcycles aren't just big ass harleys and 16 year olds on their 125 dirtbikes being douchy the finally bug bit me ina way that feels like it should turn into more then just watching some videos... Whilst the meteor is a more relaxed ride than the hunter I agree with your comments - the perfect machine for a 35 mile commute on B roads and two or three lane A roads. Keeps up with traffic and has never let me down. Home servicing is straightforward and all the access is easy. A screen is a must though, especially for winter riding!

    I have a Himalayan and am of similar size to you. I actually think the Classic 350 is the best of the bunch for taller riders as the pegs are a bit forward and you can scoot back on the seat, the Himalayan seat dumps you forward the whole time and your knees rub up against the corners of the tank awkwardly. You can also readily swap out the rear shocks on the Classic and Hunter easier than on the Himalayan or Meteor 350 - twin shocks are easier to access and cheaper to find upgrades for!
    The main downside of the Enfield singles to me is the service schedule. Valve checks every 6k miles are just impractical. Sure these bikes are relatively easy to check and adjust the valves on, but if you commute on your bike you can end up needing to do this multiple times a year which is just a pain. If you buy one of these bikes and do 6k miles in the first year that's 2 valve checks! I think this works fine for those who have more than one bike so can't put miles on all of their machines, but if the Enfield is your only bike you end up rationing out your mileage also to avoid needing to take the tank off and open up the engine again. Dealers tend to charge £250 for the service so if you don't have your own garage to do the work in then the costs of these services can really add up.

    • @Willieswheels
      @Willieswheels  11 місяців тому

      That’s a great point there on the servicing. I must admit that’s an aspect of the review I neglected to address… thanks for sharing, I will pin for future reference. You’re right about being a second bike, might be a year or two before you rack up 3k miles in a city!

    • @jimmyjam8795
      @jimmyjam8795 11 місяців тому

      I have a Honda CB500 and it needs its valve check doing at 16000, its come around quickly and is a pain in the areas to strip and do with shims. I would rather do the valve clearances on this every 3000 than do then every 16000 on a bike with shims. It could be off the road for a week before the new shims arrive. So easy to do my Interceptor 650. I'll hopefully be picking one of these (and the new Himalayan 450) next year. The Honda will be getting sold before its valve check needs doing that's for sure!

    • @Geshmaal
      @Geshmaal 11 місяців тому

      @@jimmyjam8795 I guess it depends if you want to do a difficult task once or a slightly less difficult task 5 times in that example. You should see the valve checks on a Honda NC750 though - 16k mile interval and adjustment is done with just a spanner and a flat head screwdriver! You have to take the radiator off but changing the coolant every 16k miles isn't that unreasonable.

    • @jonathandeeley6276
      @jonathandeeley6276 11 місяців тому +2

      The 350 singles DON'T require a valve check every 3,000 miles. They are checked at the initial 300 service and thereafter every 6,000 miles. The 3,000 service is basically just a check over but I would recommend an oil and filter change at this service even though Enfield say every 6,000 miles.🙂👍

    • @Geshmaal
      @Geshmaal 11 місяців тому

      @@jonathandeeley6276 you are correct sir! Every 10k km in the manual I found online. Guess it's my Himalayan that's alone in needing the very frequent checks. 6k miles is still not ideal but of course half the hassle of every 3k miles. I will correct my original comment.
