Without a doubt, this is one of the best channels on UA-cam about Jamaica. I personally learned a lot from this channel and still learning. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Do not be discouraged, just filter out the noise and keep pressing forward. I am a fan of this channel and always watch your videos. Be so good that the haters can't ignore you, use the criticism as fuel and you will never run out of energy.

I don't know any REAL Jamaicans that would hate this channel. Keep doing what you do Irena.
So the criteria for being a "real Jamaican" is whether or not I like this channel? I always urge caution when people try and proclaim what makes a "real" anything or not. EDIT: I love her channel and have been subscribed for some time now. But I don't think my "Jamaicaness" should be determined by whether I do or not.

I'm a Jamaican Irina and I've realized a mentality in some of us. For want of a better words, I call it "an aspect of the slavery mentality". We get upset when other people are doing things that we think we should be doing. But at the end of the day, we are either not doing it, or when we try to do it we don't get support from the same people who get upset that other people are doing it. We hold ourselves down. Gwan do u ting Irie! No watch no face. (That means: keep doing what you're doing! Don't let anyone stop you.)

Irina was not flustered by the negativities. She was very diplomatic with her sarcasm. I too loved how she handled the issues. I was just amazed at how "way out there" some of the comments were that attacked her race and motives.

Iris two things is sure in this world. We all will die and we all will have haters no matter what. I am a big fan because you open my eyes to so much about the country I was born. You have very excellent content. When I hear people complain about so call outsiders profiting, buying up , doing things that Jamaicans alone is entitled to do. My answer always is. Why aren’t they forming investment groups and approach lending institutions to buy up Jamaica. JPS should be owned by Jamaicans. What's interesting is that most of the hate comments don't actually come from Jamaicans, so at least this is good.
@Ramasses, the negative comments are NOT necessarily from "people in Jamaica" (or even Jamaicans for that matter). The vast majority of her Subscribers / Fans are Jamaicans (from Yaad and Abraad"

I consider this to be a channel that introduces our culture ..it’s a breath of fresh air from the local mainstream media where they tend to emphasize on negative information on Jamaica it tends to strike fear into locals … your channel really gives information that a lot of Jamaicans didn’t even know about our country

Oh boy, can we switch countries.
In general you’ll get negative comments because you have quite a few Jamaicans who only want the negatives about jamaica they only wanna hear about crime violence and poverty, when your highlighting a positive side of Jamaica they don’t like that. It’s sad that so many Jamaicans don’t really care about or love the island . Yes it has its problems but so does the U.S. Europe Canada you name it , and the comparisons are insane to do.You cannot compare jamaica to a first world nation that in itself is stupid . Continue to highlight the positives and enjoying the island

You are one of the most articulate and thoughtful youtubers I watch and I really enjoy your videos, especially the ones focused on culture and history. Though I somehow missed your video on sorrel so I need to watch that next. My wife makes sorrel a couple times a year (she's Jamaican-Canadian) and several other Jamaican things. Honestly I'd probably watch gaming videos if you did those too, because I know they'd be good quality.
I'm working on episodes to launch a gaming channel next year, but I'm trying to find a way to do that so it would not have a negative influence on my posting schedule for this channel :) We'll see how it goes! Thank you so much for the support!

Hi Irie, long time fun and first time replying to any of your videos the above OP-ED caught my attention it is sad that we still live in a world that is full of hate and ignorance. My wife and I are Jamaicans living in NYC and we love all of your videos we enjoy them and we celebrate your efforts. What some of your haters don't really understand is that we are Jamaicans, first, we're all one in spirit, I can guarantee that most if not all of the haters are Americans, and if these haters are Jamaicans they will find themselves on the long road of blissful thinking they don't understand our culture, and the people of Jamaica, continue to do what makes you happy, we as Jamaica living in NYC needs you and your work speaks volume. Irina, you are doing a phenomenal job, I have always had this idea that the Jamaican passport was no good and you changed my mind on that as well as some of your other content. There's also a lot of information that I didn't know where the Queen and Jamaica is concerned, but you have educated me in that respect.
No matter what we do in life, be it good or bad we will always have a FEW haters, the fact that you have reached a milestone 50k subscribers says alot so Keep doing what you are doing you have my support and I will continue to recommend your channel to my friends etc. Weldone.

You are doing a great job Irie, haters have a miserable life, you continue highlighting Jamaica. A lot of other Island would be so happy if their Island was been highlighted in such a positive way. I would like to know why the haters were not highlighting Jamaica the way you are, but since you are doing it they have a problem.
Exactly, regarding the "Haters". Plus, there are other Jamaican You Tubers, some of whom I learned about through the Jamaica With Irie Videos. I will never understand why some of these people think this Channel is "taking space away from other Jamaican You Tubers". Obviously they don't know how You Tube works
