As someone who has a 27" 4K IPS panel for the better part of 3 years, I've been patiently waiting for a suitable 4K OLED gaming monitor at a reasonable size. 32", 4K, 240HZ is as endgame as it gets for me.
Yep. Release a 32" 4k high refresh OLED and I will throw all my money at you. This is the monitor we all need.
With at least a semi-gloss finish and not some sickeningly greasy matte finish like the current panels have.
I have 4k 32 IPS display, and it's a bit on the small size. I'm thinking of going 42 inches. I only wish they had 240hz models.
Same. No need for anything else ever, especially with dynamic resolution.
there still isnt the perfect 32" in LCD/IPS yet and that tech has been out for years! (samsung neo G8 comes close) what makes you think they will finally nail it for OLED?
LG's DFR feature sounds interesting. Extremely interesting. Rather than choosing between an ultra fast refresh rate1080p or high resolution low refresh monitor, it gives you both. Amazing idea.
this rly would be the perfect monitor. perfect for 4k single player games and perfect for low res competitive gaming
This roadmap is the most popular for a reason. A very good source of information for potential buyers. Keep it up guys!
Thanks! I’m glad people find it interesting and useful
@@tftcentral These are amazing and something I was missing for the last 5 years.
@@tftcentral Truly the best display reviewer hands down. I wish your site came up sooner in search engine results. (maybe improve SEO?) I feel like many people pick Tomshardware or Rtings or some other junk site instead of your gold mine!
Waiting for that 32" 4K OLED 240Hz monitor. Currently running LG UltraGear monitors, but will be interesting to see the differences between the QD-OLED and WOLED 32" monitors.
I really wish they'd move on from making these large 3440x1440 panels. At least make them 3840x1600 if they're going to be larger. The PPI with 1440p at that size is terrible.
If that 32” QD OLED can hit north of 1000 nits it will be the holy grail.
Thanks for all the info. I hope future OLED monitors include warranty that covers burn-in even if it was limited to two years to give the customers some peace of mind.
Several current ones do that already. Dells Alienware models for example, or Corsair in their 27QHD240 - both of which are three years long ;)
Yeah I expect as more monitors appear, and manuf start to understand real world usage patterns, returns and problems, we will see warranty and burn in details firm up and hopefully become more robust
They do now? Obviously
if you buy the monitors from best buy and add the 2-4 year protection plan it covers burn in
Better have black frame insertion or I'm not buying any of em. Oh and no matte coating pls, we deserve better than that
I'm interested in the 45" 5120x2160 but only @ 240Hz or faster. The refresh rate has nothing to do with these OLED "panels." To my understanding, every OLED is capable of 1kHz. The limitation instead is the speed of the controller board and HDMI / DP limitations and obviously the GPUs capable of driving them.
Thanks Simon - it's a good idea getting this out in video format for UA-cam users to enjoy. 👍
Thanks Adam!
Thank you both for your amazing work and responsiveness!
They need to make 240hz BFI a reality, using 120hz BFI at 4K60 on the C1 and its ridiculous how much better the motion is over 4K120hz FreeSync Premium enabled. Realized I pretty much overbuilt my PC preparing for 120fps. 4K120 with 240hz BFI would be insane.
5k display 16:10 aspect ratio, with 1600nits peak brightness (1000nits constant) and with 120hz refresh rate and tuv certified flicker free.
This is holy grail!
Personally been using a 27 inch 4K LCD for like 5 years now, really want an OLED display, but don't want to go bigger than 27 inches. Just don't have the desk space for 32 inches and honestly I get kinda ill being that close to a bigger screen. It kinda feels like claustrophobia.
I wonder what is the chance of that asus 27 inch being glossy, if its matte then it would be a deal breaker for me : /
Which screen do you mean? There’s an existing available 27” OLED from Asus (1440p) which is matte WOLED. Their newly announced 32” 4K is normal semi glossy QD-OLED though 😀
@tftcentral yeah I'm not going back from 4K. And I want a glossy screen. I went 5 years with that dirty screen look, I want that glossy clean image.
The 32” could work well then for you 😀
Just beware not to purchase anything from Dough. Many of us made this mistake and they haven't manufactured the models they took payments for. I've been waiting since January this year for them to return my fully refundable deposit. Some are in a worse position than me, that fully paid for their orders as they were advised to in order for their orders to be shipped and are still waiting.
Got a bunch of screens from 65 inches all the way down 16 inches, but for my the sweet spot is 27inchs. End game monitor for me would be a 27inch 4K 240hz oled with a least the PG27AQDM brightness in SDR.
4k 27" is a waste. ppi too dense for it to make sense. there's a reason why almost every good 1440p monitor is 27" and every good 1080 monitor is 24". just lighting money on fire for 4k 27". So much better off looking at the upcoming 2k480 displays.
This. 2160p is great for 55", overkill for 27".@@Masoch1st
Why isn't there a 24" OLED monitor in the market? Im so tilt about the fact that new monitor tech is only coming for 27" barely and most of it for 32" monitors.
Many people dont have the hardware to run games in 1440p or 2160p but would like to get nice colors. In my case i would like to play CS:GO on a smaller monitor. My favorite would be 21" with lightning speed of the OLED panel.
Run a 27" 1440p one at 1080p with the image centered and you've got what you wanted..
Some people still want smaller screens I realise but it really is a niche part of the market now. 27”+ is so common now
@@FiveFiveZeroTwo This solution sucks for dual monitor setups and most monitor features work only well when the resolution is native. Things aren't that easy
@@goldkat94 What's the problem with dual monitor setups?
Why does it suck for dual monitor setups?

45" 5k2k @ 165Hz !
- Now, I'm highly interested 🤔
I hope they also make oleds with good bfi modes good bfi should:
* work correctly at any refreshrate single strobes down to 48hz
* have adjustable mprt so brightness tradeoff can be up to the user
* have no added lag(possible with the right panel type)
* take advantage of the panels peak brightness to help with average brightness
You don't need BFI on OLED because it has fast pixel response and not slow like a LCD panel with smearing. OLED don't smear and high framerate looks way smoother.
@@Dr.WhetFarts please. you have no idea what your talking about sir pixel responsetime(g2g) is not the same thing as pixel persistence(mprt) both are measured in ms and both matter.
It’s still a sample and hold display, and you’ll still see motion blur which is relative to refresh rate. They are better than LCD (about 1.5 ratio in motion clarity) but a 60Hz OLED is still very poor at motion handling, even with amazing response times.
Motion needs to improve for sure. Coming from a plasma to a QD-OLED it’s shocking, how poor it is 👎
@@Dr.WhetFartsresponse time doesnt mean motion clarity, it still has motion blur without bfi, even a 60hz with bfi can beat 240hz oled on motion blur clarity
Any idea if the pixel layout will continue to be “strange” on OLEDs? I need my monitor to handle games and text, and I’m willing to pay a premium to get it.
That's not gonna change for years if not ever, I think it's just a limitation of the technology
LG uses WOLED which isnt strange. The strange ones are QD-OLED
It is strange, as there’s an extra white sub pixel and the RGB stripe is backwards. Oh, and in the wrong order! It’s RWBG 😀
Fringing is actually worse on WOLED because its on the left/right side of the text which is more noticeable than the QD OLED fringing that is on the top/bottom of a text. If you have letters like "I", "L", "M", etc you'll see the fringing going vertical.
@@nerdalert1980 WOLED PC monitors have text fringe as well. QD-OLED is superior in pretty much every way. LG needs to wake up because MLA was not enough and most LG panels still don't have MLA.
still really hoping for a 42" 16:9 qd-oled.... maybe one day.
Thank you for the information. I could patiently wait and not waste money buying other monitor until the 2160P ultra wide monitor comes out in 2 years.
No BFI Oled...so sad. Did i hear seagulls?
Haha you probably did. Bloody things! (And I had my windows shut too!)
Looking at how many people are in the same boat as myself, waiting for a 32” 4K high refresh rate OLED, I’m starting to get seriously concerned about pricing and availability.
The thing that OLED monitors **really** need is... a sub-pixel layout that affords clear text a fine lines.
And of course.... a 4k resolution offering in a desktop-friendly size in the 32-34 inch NON-widescreen (2160p) and NON-curved range.
Hope LG switches to glossy for these monitors. Also Samsung Display needs to add a 40” 5120x2160 themselves!
I wish they focused more on 16:9. I'm ready to move away from my ultra wide, I miss seeing the sky and ground.
Haha, this is exactly how I felt using an ultrawide, it just felt like the top & bottom were missing!
16:9 is indeed the lowest screen to get decent coverage of stereo vision FOV.
But marketing pushes ultra low screens, because that way they can sell actually smaller surface area panel with bigger marketing number.
@@tuunaes "but...but...fills your peripheral vision" 😝 why would I want that over my actual vision right in front of me!?
I hope they add high refresh rates and bfi to the c2 TVs. Or I guess if they really make a 42in and up monitor that checks all the boxes. What are the technical challenges of getting very high refresh rate OLED displays and how hard are they to overcome? I assume it's not harder to implement for larger TVs vs small monitors.
I don’t think it’s any harder to implement but it will boil down to target market. They won’t push them as high on larger format panels I don’t think as they know they are largely used for TVs and they don’t need anything higher than 120Hz for typical tv connected devices like modern games consoles. The 42” panel is prob the exception as a crossover panel option. Will be interesting to see if Lg use this in their tv model line up like the C series in the future, or reserve it for “monitors” in their range
Great news, so i skip the C2/3 and wait for next year for a 240Hz Panel 😃
I am waiting for 32 and 38-42 inch OLEDs in 4K. Enough of this 1440p nonsense!!
They’ll be coming don’t worry 😉
I don't think I can go back after having experienced a 42" 4k monitor now. Will definitely be watching future monitors this size with interest.
I had the 42" C2 but I returned it because it was too big for my small room, I exchanged it for the LG 27" OLED. I think that's the only downside of the 42" C2 its just too big in some cases.
Agreed. The 42” models are great screens and a nice way to make full use of a 4k resolution too without needing scaling, but they are just too big for many people
42 inch is too big and 16:9 is a big no at this size. 42 inch 16:9 only work for casual (laid back) gaming etc. Garbage for fast paced gaming. Btw you are using a TV and not a monitor. A TV is made for far away viewing. A monitor is made for desktop and 42 inch OLED panels are way less bright than 55+ inch panels because pixel size is reduced = less light comes out. I would never enjoy sitting in front of a 42 inch TV and use my regular PC. I have 65 inch QD-OLED for laid back gaming and 27" 1440p and 34" Ultrawide for the desktop.
@@Dr.WhetFarts this guy gets it. bigger != better, especially for multiplayer games. using a large "monitor" for any kind of FPS games, and you are throwing for sure.
@@Masoch1st Yeah LG's small OLED TV's were a "fine" stop gap for gamers before OLED monitors existed, however now monitors do exist, and I would never recommend a 42 or 48 inch TV for a monitor. Just stick with 32" 4k for the majority of your PC use, and just get a separate much larger 50-60" 4k TV mounted above your monitor or opposite of your bed or whatever, for content consumption
32' 4K OLED is the dream.
You forgot the 240Hz 🙂
I can't imagine how smooth a 480hz oled would be. Better than real life
It will be very nice for sure! (If you can power it of course)
Man, that bomb 45" 5K2K at the end but then only 165hz? DP 2.1 & DSC exists. If Samsung Electronics is able to utilize it, even having a monitor @ 8K2K 240hz through UBHR 13.5, then LG & other implementers of the 5K2K panel should also be able to do it. Very annoying deprioritization on a no doubt extremely expensive monitor.
A neglected thing for implementations of both companies panels is PBP at native refresh, which they just refuse to bother to make work. You always have to halve to use PBP. It's not particularly high hanging fruit. If they make PBP compromiseless with frictionless switching on UW & SUW monitors, a lot of people will replace dual monitor setups with that.
I wish higher framerate mode at lower resolution became industry standard for high resolution monitors. If it was implemented on this 5K2K so you could go 1080p UW mode @ 300-360FPS, the 165hz limit @5k2K wouldn't matter for any practical purposes. It would then be amazing for both esports and immersive gaming/viewing.

2024 = 32 inch 4k oled = resolution is pretty much perfect
2025 = phosphorescent blue ready? = big step up for hdr content
I feel like 2024 is gonna be awesome but 2025 might be a good year too hmm
After that we will need a new technology for big improvements. Thats just my opinion
I kinda wish we could have 4k oled lightfield 3D monitors with ai.
Great resource, keep putting these out in video form as well as the main site every quarter or so since you'll be reaching a wider audience!
I was under the impression that we wouldn't be seeing 27" 16:9 1440p360hz+ OLEDs (W or QD) until Q4 2024 with availability in early 2025? And why aren't the 38"+ Ultrawide OLEDs at least 3840x1600p like the LG38- and AW3821DW from 2020? I had to switch to the PG42UQ at launch from a 38" 1600p UWD since it's the closest thing but at 16:9 flat, my workflow doesn't feel the same. I'm guessing it's a supply chain/manufacturing issue related to mother glass. The 27" 1440p 360hz+ OLED is only for comp ranked FPS gaming in my case, hopefully that Samsung will have ULMB 2 support via firmware.
many thanks for the "super thanks" and i'm glad you enjoyed the video. The 27" 1440p 360Hz screens will hopefully be available around end of Q2 2024 from Samsung, that's a date we didn't have in our last update from March so looks to be good news :)
I expect higher resolution 38"+ ultrawides might come at some point, but right now they're planned to be 3440 x 1440. The lower pixel density is easier to manufacturer right now.
ULMB 2 (specifically) won't be possible to support since that's a technology for strobing LCD monitor backlights, and OLED doesn't need or use a backlight. Plus it would also require use of the Native G-sync module which is likely to be rare still. But it's possible the OLED equivalent Black Frame Insertion (BFI) could be introduced, although I'd say that's probably unlikely sadly.
@@tftcentral The latter part on OLEDs not likely to have motion blur reduction technology for eSports presumably (like ULMB 2/DyAc+) is truly unfortunate, I didn't know about that, thanks for the clarification! The fast pixel response time and GTG does make up for it for the most part I suppose. This means that there's no way it'll become an eSports standard in major leagues, plus there's burn-in to consider since pros need to play/stream 12-18 hours a day.
I'm returning my Zowie XL2566K tomorrow afternoon in-store and picking up the PG27AQN IPS @360hz w/ULMB 2 and I'll try it for 15 days and see if I can tolerate it (purely for competitive ranked FPS gaming, after I'm done my main workflow on my PG42UQ). It'll surely be better than E-TN panels but I'm afraid I won't be able to go back to traditional LCD ever again. Optimum Tech ended up choosing the 240hz OLED over the 360hz IPS even with ULMB 2 and he's a top 3% player in most comp shooters. It's a bit tough to find stock on the PG27AQDM right now though especially in Canada.
They can still have the equivalent BFI if it’s added which actually works better than any strobing blur reduction backlight including ULMB2. The super fast response times make this possible, and you get a really clear image across the whole screen
There’s roughly a 1.5 ratio for motion clarity between an OLED and an LCD. so a 240Hz OLED is roughly equivalent to a 360Hz LCD (without any blur reduction mode). So motion clarity wise you can get some nice returns on OLED, especially when they increase refresh rates to 360 and 480Hz as planned. Adding BFI would help significantly though and I really hope they bring it back
If you’re using the screen for competitive gaming and dynamic content I don’t think you need to worry about burn in tbh. But it’s probably not there yet as a tech for competitive esports compared with the more mature LCD market
Reasonably-sized (and reasonably-priced) 4K OLED is exactly what I'm waiting for. Good to know it's finally coming.
LG OLED Pro monitors exist, but they have insane prices, and the new ones will probably be affordable enough.
Yeah and only 60Hz. They’re using JOLED panels and really are expensive / top end for professional work
There is no such thing as a cheap OLED and there never will be sorry Nate you're stuck with lcd
Man, I hate huge monitors and the continued trend toward ignoring reasonable sizes. (I have owned everything from 21.5" to 32")
Doesn't anybody know about the very limited visual angles of high acuity...? Motion sickness from huge monitors up close? Etc... ?
No 24" options, max 140 PPI...
No thanks. Good thing 27" 4K mini-LED panels are a thing.
Looking forward to 31,5" 4K 240Hz in 2024 or 27" 1440p 480Hz models likely in 2025.
I just hope manufacturers stop cheaping out on the inputs. Meaning real HDMI 2.1 not some bastardized version with half the features missing and DP 2.1 finally.
And yes i know technically these resolutions dont need these higher bandwidth inputs but if im buying a ~1000€ monitor that i plan to keep for 5-7 years then i least expect the manufacturer to put some effort into the hardware and not cheap out to save 10€ on something.
A good example is USB. Technically we dont need USB 3.2 20Gbps or USB4 40Gbps speeds or whatever but we cant stay stuck on 2.0 speeds because it's enough for most devices.
HDMI 2.1 won't be enough for 4k 240hz HDR (10 bit). Really going to need that DP 2.1 on those monitors and GPUs.
It will with DSC :)
@@tftcentral I've seen reports from people that DSC does degrade image quality a bit.
Getting better image quality when going from DP 1.4 to HDMI 2.1 for example.
Have you tested DSC on/off yourself? If so I'd appreciate your opinion.
I have and I can’t see any visual difference. That’s assuming nothing else is being changed at the same time like colour bit depth etc. I expect it’s entirely in their heads, VESA have carried out many independent studies and found it visually lossless
@@tftcentral Thanks for the reply, and thank you for all the information and things like your ICC database that you've provided for many years!
No one is going to do Black Frame Insertion?
It’s not something LG are planning to use with their WOLED panels but I know some manuf like Dough are planning to add it to their OLED monitors including their 27” 1440p 240Hz model that’s coming soon. Hopefully others might do the same!
Hi TFTCentral.
I've got a few of questions:
- Are the 2024 WOLED still targeting 250 nit 100% APL, as you mentioned in your last update?
- Do you know any information on the target 100% APL for the 2024 QD-OLED monitors? (Being that these are likely Gen-2 QD-OLED panels (provided blue PHOELD material has not yet been implemented into QD-OLED stack), I expect the QD-OLEDs to have similar 100% APL as the OLED G9, which I think is around 250 nits.
- Is there any information regarding the screen coating of the LG WOLED options? It would be nice if consumers had an option, but I imagine monitor manfacturers don't want the headache of splitting a product into two SKUs: a glossy AR and a matte AR variant.
- Samsung display QD-OLED panels (for monitors) have so far been curved - probably due to them being ultrawide and super-ultrawide. Do you know if the new 16:9 panels are flat or curved?
Thank you for providing the information! :)
We may not see a 3rd gen QD-OLED panel any time soon. Samsung is bleeding in many areas right now so they may want to milk.
Im waiting for a larger version of that 45" 21:9 panel. Wide screens need more vertical real-estate.
All I want is a 27inch at 4K, 120fps, OLED and glossy screen.
I'm using 27" 4K's. I'm used to not seeing pixels so there is no way I'm going down in resolution nor am going up in size. So I will be waiting for the 27" 4K OLED. The games I play has no chance of sustaining higher than 120 fps so 120 Hz is fine.
I have a stuck green pixel on 4k 27 inch, but it doesn't really bother me, because I can only see it if I try to look for it 🤣👀
@@yoked391 here is another thing to look forward to in a 27" 4K. We know the pixel arrangement for OLED's do not work well with Windows fonts. But you won't notice it if you can't see the individual pixels.
@@0x8badbeef a pentile 4k will never look as sharp as a RGB stripe LCD though?
subbed to keep up to date on these 32 inch 4k monitors, nice road map.
DFR bringing back a beloved old tech, CRT and early 4K TVs often supported dropping the resolution to get a high frame rate, i loved my Vizio D40uD1 4K60, or 1080p120, if my GPU couldnt quite handle 4K60, i'd run it at 1080p120 which is half the pixel rate of 4K60

Can’t wait for a decent, practical sized 4K OLED gaming monitor that’s not a 42 inch TV in disguise
Great reporting! Like many, I'm super excited to see those 32" 4K OLED's next year.
Me too! The dream for many people
Alot of people
Are these confirmed releases? I understand the release dates aren’t exact but i take it we should definitely be receiving 32” 4k 240hz and 1440 360hz qd oled panels next year. Amazing if so!
They’re the best dates we can forecast based on the current panel mass production schedules and the typical lag to release a monitor from there.
Nice. OLED is the future it seems. I hope it will get cheaper... below 1k USD hopefully
we need a 42 oled 240HZ
Any news/roadmap for circa 38" HDR ultrawide monitors that are not OLED? Currently rocking my LG 38" ultrawide with 3840x1600 resolution which is a nice step up from the 3440x1440, love the size but want proper HDR.
I’m afraid there wasn’t anything like that in any of the roadmaps we had back in march 🙁
@@tftcentral Such a shame. I think most people haven't tried the 38" ultrawide, only the 34" so they don't know it's so much nicer. If people knew better, maybe there would be more demand for slightly bigger size/resolution UW screens.
Agreed. 38 ultra wide are really the most optimise perfect blend for gaming and media consumption. Upgraded from a 34 inch and there’s no going back!
damn, it's saddening to me that there doesn't seem to be any plans for a 23.8", 1440p, 300Hz, native 10bit, 400 cd/m² monitor with BFI-Sync (VRR and BFI at the same time across most of VRR range).
24 inch is dead. 27 inch is bare minimum. Just accept it. There would be little to no sales in 24 inch OLED panels.
I'll be happy with a 24 inch 120hz oled monitor
This is super informative. Any idea on if and when we can expect some 34" 5k2k ultrawide panels with 120+ hz refresh rates?
Nothing in the roadmap plans at this stage I’m afraid. The 45” panel mentioned in the video is the closest to that at the moment
32inch is far too large for the majority of PC users, they need to stop shoving larger displays down everyone's throats. 24-27in 4k is a must
Imagine a 27 inch OLED with DFR that be cycled between 4k/240hz, 1440p/360hz, and 1080p, 480hz. That would be the dream for me. I'm sure its possible, but idk if anyone will make it.
Lots of good stuff to look forward to.
What about a 49" at 5120x2160 with 150+ hz?
Nothing currently planned I’m afraid from Samsung beyond their current 49” 5120 x 1440 panels available with 144Hz and 240Hz refresh rate options
@@tftcentral Thanks for the response.
The more "OMG can't wait for a 32" 4K OLED" comments, the higher the price will be. So, to combat that, take this with a grain of salt -- who the heck needs such a large beautiful 4k panel that's so fast? Probably no one.
Very informative video and very sorry because WTF is that UGLY WEIRD green screen overlay seriously 😭🤣?
And why you are so close of the camera wtfff 😭
any estimates on pricing for the 4k 32 inch oled? really would like to know if i can swallow that price now or just spend now on a discounted LG C2 42 inch TV.
Rough estimate in the $1300 - 1500 USD range but that’s my best guess
With the 42 C2 being about half the price of what we expect next year's monitors to be, surely the C2 now is the way to go. I'm biased though since I have one 😝
While it’s available it’s a good option!
I wish they weren't exclusively going for such insanely high specs (which are a complete overkill even for the most high end hardware currently available) and, consequently, such insanely high price points.
The market could really use some more reasonably priced and spec'd options, imo.
I switched from asus 42 oled to a KTC 42 oled and couldn't be happyier. Asus sucked. quality control problems.
Boring industry news. Not much 5K monitors with high brightness to take on Apple Display and no non standard aspect ratio like 16:10 or Huawei's display 3:2
When a 27" or 30" QD-OLED 4k 240Hz monitor?
27” is covered in the video
@@tftcentraltrue! Thx and srry!
25" 2k woled glossy with 300 nits at 100% 360hz, would be a dream monitor
Thanks you very much for this, I wonder what is the chance of that asus 27 inch being glossy?
I stopped looking in summer of 2020 in preparation of PS5 release. What did I miss?
Too bad LG is making those 39 UW monitors using matte coating and heavy curvature =(
Very keen on a 3.15inch 4k 240hz OLED! Thanks for the info.
What they definitely need to do is get rid of the ugly natte smear. 4k 240 glossy will be glorious.
I expect to see some glossy options appear. The Samsung QD OLED option should also feature the typical “semi glossy” coating like current panel options 👍
@@tftcentral thx, that would be ok! I'm currently using a G7 VA 1440 @240 Hz and I'll surely keep it until OLED has this res and speed.
@@tftcentral what's the difference between semi-glossy and glossy?
Glossy is very reflective like a Tv or a glass fronted panel. Semi glossy is where it looks shiny still, doesn’t have any grain like an AG coating, but still has some anti reflective properties. It’s not as mirror like, like a half way between the two. QD OLED monitor panels look like this really
1440p 480 Hz QD-Oled display. I'm still at 60 Hz QLED.
All I want in the world is a 38” 3840x1600 OLED.
Any news on glossy OLED monitors?
Could you please tell us when they will fix vrr flickering?
Greatly informative vid, thanks Baddass :)
32" 1080@480hz feature is just dumb. 1080p at that size will look horrible. i'm sure the monitor itself in 4k mode will be amazing, but that particular feature seems useless.
Well it could support integer scaling meaning actually very good quality. Basically 4:1 pixel ratio exactly
How well do 1440p or higher rez monitors display at 1080p thats my preferred i like the idea of higher refresh but hate losing frames to play at 1440 or 2 or 4k
How well would a 4k 32 inch play 16x9 1080p would it tear would it look like crap?
1080p on a 4k screen can be decent as there’s a 4:1 pixel ratio. So if the monitor manuf adds pixel perfect integer scaling it can look good. Scaling 1080p on to a 1440p monitor, or 1440p on to a 4k isn’t as good as there’s pixel overlapping. It’s often fine for gaming though tbh, but you wouldn’t want to do it for desktop or normal uses
For the love of god 38” ultra wide 1600p oled please
I want a cheap Oled ultra wide 29 or 34 inch monitor 😂
Still waiting for 3840x1600p 21:9 oled. Thats my theoretical endgame model.
No plans for those yet but given LG Display make LCD panels of that size (37.5”) it’s possible they will explore for OLED at some point
Do we know how curved these new ultrawides will be? The new Asus announced for Q1 is 800R. Current models are less curved at 1800R.
It’s not listed in the roadmap info we have unfortunately. If we get more info I’ll update 😀
Just "upgrade" from AW3423DW to OLED G9 since I want to try 32:9 for at least 3 years. Do you think that the next OLED G9 in 2025+ will be 57" 7680x2160 like current Neo G9 or not? Is mother glass profit from this OLED size.
There’s nothing in the panel roadmaps to suggest there will be an OLED panel of that size and resolution I’m afraid any time soon
@@tftcentral Thank you TFTcentral. I hope that this is my endgame monitor and don't need to upgrade for a longtime.
I wonder if they would still suffer from text clarity problem due to their subpixel layout. Slightly smaller 1440p would increase ppi and could alleviate this issue. Maybe 27 inch ultrawide instead of 34 inch~!
What about a 32 inch 1440p high refresh rate OLED? None of those coming out?
No panels currently planned with that spec. Maybe in time
Can’t wait for 27” 4K. At that pixel density, I believe there won’t be issue of text cringe anymore making it suitable for kinds of usage
that sure is perfect, i got a 4k 28" ips, an oled with that should solve a lot of issues the 1440p have.
at that pixel density many games and programs have no scaling so they are broken.
@@sudd3660 yep! I’m using a 27” 4K IPS miniled monitor with 1152 local dimming zones and now my eyes are spoilt by it haha. The only step up for me would be a 4K oled at the same size. In 2-3 years it will be nice timing for an upgrade, hopefully there will be good number of options by then and also the price will be better too. For now going to enjoy what I have 😊
@@hjshoon5244 looks like late next year perhaps for 27" 4k oled, hopefully they also resolved some of the issues with this first generation.
we also need the next version of displayport to get 4k 240hz, Dp 2.2 i think it is. and we need next gen graphic cards.
i hope they bring black frame insertion back across all the 240 and 360hz range
Me too! It’s brilliant on OLED at high refresh rates!
I can’t wait for that 32” oled!!
can you do a similar roadmap for mini/micro led? 🙏
Very depressing news. Basically no updates to help with text clarity or burn-in. Nothing really for larger 16:9 sizes. 42|48" @4k with full AdobeRGB1998/DCI-P3 100% coverage. Basically we're still stuck with 32" or below panels. Guess I'll have to pick up a couple more 8-10 year old IPS ones just to tide me over for yet ever more years. :(
42” 16:9 240Hz is covered and planned
@@tftcentral yeah, saw that but it's a single data point/one mention not a trend and no information that it would actually solve any of the issues (i.e. *all* 42"+ monitors today fail with text clarity or colour gamut; burn-in; etc.) so another 42 with just a faster refresh rate that doesn't solve any fundamental issues basically is moot. Just an opinion from someone who's been buying/looking for large displays for well over 20 years and having been disappointed every time). What gets me is that OEM's have shown that they *can* make displays with very small pixels (0.11mm or less) so don't know why they don't make large displays/glass in the 42-48" range with those opposed to the 0.22-0.27mm ones) which would at least solve the text clarity issue (i.e. similar to basically having the monitor upscale 200%). Colour gamut also has been shown to be better in the TV market (up to 80-90% Rec 2020 which covers both DCI-P3 & AdobeRGB1998 colour spaces) but that tech is not being carried over to monitors which languish in the sub 70% rec2020 or < 80% AdobeRGB1998. Even though as mentioned monitors from as far back as 2008 have had 100% coverage of at least AdobeRGB (or 2014 for 100% dci-p3/adoberbg in the 30" or less range).
Thanks for your presentation
