Mmm. Yes how could I forget such a integral part of the grand institute
I hope this precedes a Templin Dispatch on the PAC or Battlefield 2142 as a whole, because it's one of those underdeveloped and underbaked settings that had much more potential than it realized, if not to the degree that 2042 is turning out to be.
I always thought it was kind of weird that they never actually got it American to the game even though they did mention that it still existed and had become an isolationist semi fascistic technocracy under the control of a freaking AI, we never did get to see are awesome paratrooping cyborgs, and UGVs.
Comparing the setting and lore in 2142 to Battlefield 2042's "lore" is quite the exaggeration, it is nowhere near as empty, hollow and random as 2042. Although underdeveloped and underbaked is agreeable
@@anarchyandempires5452 Actually not having America in the game was a breath of fresh air. Also wasn't the reason for this that the US has basically ceased to exist as it was swallowed up by the ice age and the US population fled to Mexico.
@@danwhowatches707 2042 seems very realistic though, and not hollow at all
@@anarchyandempires5452 America doesn't have to be in every game
The best Battlefield.
They should remake it.
maybe ... its about time we get a 2143!
This is what got me into BF
Truly.
One of the things I like about the setting is the role reversal from the usual status quo, with the Russian led Asia as the technologically advanced power while the EU makes do with brute force and thick hide. A rather stark contrast to Endwar, where the EU also stars.
EU in endwar uses the pew pew orbital lasers. Murrica be like "Why use lasers when we can achieve even more damage dropping metal rods from orbit?" then russia be like "I had this idea when drinking my 20 gallons of vodka, why do we not put a giant vaccum cleaner into bomb, then we have explosion that clean up itself!"
Where is the role reversal though? It's literary "stereotypical USA allies and puppets" vs "stereotypical targets of US propaganda".
Meanwhile Endwar puts EU at war with US, something anybody very rarely has the balls to do. Pity that it didn't had the balls to make China one of the belligerents too.
@@TheArklyte cuz there is no US in bf2142?
@@olafjansowidz will it be too much if I ask you to read my comment?

Battlefield players: So who is the US fighting this time China or Russia
EA: Yes...
Huh, just looked it up and the European Union does include the United States of America, for some reason.
@@lionhartjohn1000 If you are looking that up on Wikipedia I'm pretty sure some put that in there as joke to or to win an argument.
@@noneedtoknow07 I agree, there is no logical reason the US would ever be part of the EU, much more likely some sort of North American Union or something like that.
@@73_65 if im not wrong both Australia and the USA join forces Whit the EU since you know.... America is basically a Frozen hell and Australia is going the same route
@@ranbojd1070 Honestly the lore of Battlefield 2142 makes no sense, even today we have the technology to survive the glacial maximum of an ice age, and there is more advanced technology in the game than what we have now. So going to war over warmer parts of the Earth doesnt really make sense since the resources used for that would be better used making things like indoor farms and other similarly useful things.
Honestly wished BF2042 didn't use the old and over used US vs RU again
It's weird when they come up with a setting that should be able to break that paradigm, only to do it anyway. This game did the same, with the EU subbed in for the US; the PAC is basically Russia, with little to no presence by any of their coalition partners. There are no Indians, no Thais, no... (a while later) and no Indonesians. There was almost no attempt to incorporate design language referencing anywhere but Russia. Similarly, the EU basically ignores Africa despite a good chunk of the game taking place there.
In some of the games concept art, it was going to be just the US and China fighting in space actually.
They didn't have the balls to involve China as a faction anymore.
End War brings the European Union (Federation in game) as a faction.
@@janlim0916 Yeah China threw a really big hissy fit over the BF4 campaign from what I remember. As long as the Chinese gaming market is profitable and the Chiese government is such an Orwellian nightmare, they will try not to step on Winnie the Pooh's toes.
Factions I would like to see next:
1. Ice Nation - The 100
2. Team Rocket - Pokémon
3. The Necromonger Empire - Riddick
4. The Predacons - Beast Wars
5. The Golden Army - Hellboy
6: Equestria - My Little Pony Mythos
7: Candy Kingdom - Adventure Time
Templin should do Academy City - Toaru franchise. could draw on material from the animated series and light novels, its a fascinating setting.
now i want to see the EU from the same setting its really rare to see the EU as a main faction in a Game as far as i know there are only like +10 Games that have It as a playable or important faction

I dig through BF2142 files a lot cause I like modding it and there's so much unfinished stuff in there and names that liken to things that they just didn't get to. There are weapon skins for models that don't exist, a lot of EU content is labeled as US content, there are gun and vehicle sounds that don't belong to any known weapons. They even have German, French, and Italian voices for presumably different parts of the EU but they just stuck with British English for the EU. Concept art for planned maps that never got made. It's so sad to see it never fulfilled.
I was reading online and apparently, the very early version of Battlefield 2142 was leaked online by hackers and originally the game was supposed to have the US faction to appear in the game. That’s why in the game files, all of the classes e.t.c for the EU have US labelled on them and the game was also set to appear on three different planets.

@@jmgonzales7701 Russia is quite "Asian" in a certain sense, a Russo-Chinese coalition ruling over Asia is not as far fetched as you would think. Russia has had a long history of Eurasianism, especially in recent years, seeing itself as the synthesis of east and west, however with its current shift towards the east, that could easily turn into ‘Asianism’ only. Russia has never been seen as a purely European state, similar to Turkey.
I know that gamers love pretty borders and pretty conflicts, but future wars will probably look more like an absolute mess of countries working together part-time than anything: China and the US working together to keep oil prices stable in the Middle East is just as likely as China and the US fighting over Antarctica, because Australia promised to give the US some concessions if it helped Australia to expand southwards.
Historically speaking, switching sides depending on the results of seeking objectives is more the norm than any permanent coalition: just ask Britain, who switched sides like three times when Russia and Sweden were fighting, or the unholy mess that is the Italian Wars.
Wait till we see Russia vs Norway vs the UK get hot and bothered over Arctic shipping routes and resources
That US-China alliance also depends on whether there are deposits under the hotly contested Spratly Island chain becomes worth it (to the Chinese government it appears so).
So back to the medieval style of limited wars over limited regions because no one wants to go all in again.
How about oil corporations fighting the emerging fusion power industry?
Some people think the super powers are on the way out and we're returning to an older world order with regional powers and PMCs. So Blackrock mercenaries in the Balkan fighting Chinese mercenaries.
As a veteran of the *Battlefield* of *2142,* one of the common issues was that there were a lot of recruits who had previously fought in the *Battlefield* of *2* and their training and experience was all wrong.

2142 was my first Battlefield and it will forever hold a special place in my heart as one of the greats of the FPS genre!
2142 was the best battlefield to come out of EA. BF2 is a classic but 2142 captured something special. Part of me doesn't want to see 2143 released because i know that modern EA will just ruin it.
I think 2142 benefited both from having a more refined version of the gameplay found in Battlefield 2, and of being Dice's most original setting in the whole series, in which they took a lot of liberties with the classes and technology.
The current US-Rus war setting, that they have been doing in Battlefield for what feels like forever, was also done in Cod and various other post-cold war stories, but the setting of 2142 is not something I've seen a lot of in the past, especially since it's an incorrect interpretation of what climate change would look like.
Maybe if they were to remake this game, it would be cooler if instead it was a story about Earth being knocked out of its orbit around the sun and being gradually ejected from the solar system, which would lead to these events, and ultimately a pretty horrible future.
Yeah my toughtas exactly. I woud really love this game to get remaster or sequel, but based on the resent titles and actinos of DICE, I really dont trust their ability to do it right. 2142 was ahead of its time and captured beatifully and fairly realisically the atmosphere what war would be like in its universe and timeline.

Originally I remember reading the plot was that the EU was invading Asia in hopes of getting at its warmer reasons. That makes a lot more sense to me. I wonder why they changed it. Maybe because they didn't want to cast the West as "the bad guys" given that that's where most of their consumers are from, or maybe because they thought it would drudge up old memories of colonialism.
Source? It doesn´t make sense for EU to go to Asia for warm territory. Southern Europe is warm, and northern Africa is so much closer and much more practical logistically than Asia. And likely less resistance from a less developed continent. And EU would be extremely outnumbered against the east. Maybe the future totally changes all of this with the ice age and new technology etc. But I think an ice age would be a bigger problem for Russia than it would be for EU, since temperatures in Sibir and northern Russia gets to -40 every year now without ice age. While south Europe is 12-30 all year around. There are just so many logical fallacy´s in this plot, I think that´s the reason they dropped it. But you could be right about western bias to be the good guys, lol.
IMO Europe has evolved beyond aggressive invasion / occupation / colonialism. We realized how much we fucked up the world in the past. Such admittance of wrong doings and giving up power is something you will never see from Russia and China. Spain, Portugal, UK were global superpowers at some point in history, but let go of it, understanding that such actions will likely cause perpetual war in the future.

I don’t think the story is related to Battlefield 4. I think the Final Stand dlc is just a series of nods to to 2142 because there are logos located in the maps of the the PAC which contradicts the time it was established, which was way further into the future. Personally I believe there was a planned sequel since they hinted it with a futuristic drone Easter egg in BF3 and 2143 written in random props on some maps in BF4. Back when Battlefield was good. So sad there was 10 times more innovation in the dynamics of gameplay in this than its 15 year old successor.
Could you guys do the scp foundation
I am a pac man. Through and through.
Do nopats please
I read the pan-sexual coalition before clicking and now I gotta Wright creepy pasta about this crazy idea.
"Pan-Asian" for when countless millennia of diverse cultures in unique relations to each other just escapes you...
Ditto for the "European Union", completely unbelievable that millennia of diverse cultures in unique relations would ever unify.
I mean it's possible the "pan Asian alliance" is actually just a coalition of small Asian nations extremely economically and politically dependent on China
@@ronaldlennier86 I think it's basically the real life SCO turned into a formal alliance/Codominion of Moscow and Beijing
@@Strettger considering the large industry and influence both nations have and presuming that the UN doesn't exist anymore, the two nations could exert a large amount of influence over the comparatively smaller nations, in a fashion similar to the Warsaw pact.
@@Strettger well honestly the same could be said for a lot of country now and in the past. The concept of nation-state is relatively new in the history of humanity and is a very western concept. For most of our history the concept of nation didn't exist and for some place like in Asia or Africa still don't exist. Who knows how we could define what make a state in a century or two ?
I do wonder if the Philippines was in the war and if they joined the pan Asian Union
I do hope the Philippines would choose to be neutral.
As war has generally only brought death and destruction to the islands
The Philippines is very close to china geographically and we would be under its sphere of influence (Tbh realistically we are under its influence, lets be honest) and seeing everyone basically fell to Chinese influence, even its long time rivals such as japan and Korea. If the Philippines was under American influence china would make sure to assert itself. can be by force or through economics tbh. I say its only a matter of time before the Philippines joins the pan asian union lead by russia and china.
@@Jose.AFT.Saddul might be impossible to be neutral in that scenarios
@@jmgonzales7701 um you do realize that china is literally intruding on Philippine waters right I mean let's be honest here china likes to steal
@@jmgonzales7701 it's fictional who know
OK next EU and the cold war
Bah glory to Europe

Please, give an English subtitle.
China got the other countries to join, because of the implication.
That something could go wrong for them if they didn't. But the thing is, they're not going to say no, because none of these countries would say no. Because of the implication. Not that things are going to go wrong
I kinda dislike the setting, its kinda wishful thinking and its always russia vs the west or the US yet again. And it doesn't make sense that Russia leads the Pan Asian coalition, tbh it should be china. Russia, not only a has been super power but it is also not even asian, it just doesn't make sense. Thou Pan Asian coalition is kinda a good lore when expanded upon as its very interesting how asian states would solve their problems with each other. EU countries nowadays rarely have any problems so its gonna be easier for them to team up.
