The saddest moment in Star Wars wasn’t Padme’s death or Vader’s redemption. It was the Battle Droid who was killed celebrating his retirement party in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Another one is where while uh, i forgot the dudes name so imma just call him "little green goblin", little green goblin hacks away at a droid all the while the droid was yelling about how he JUST got promoted
Fun fact: In canon, a single B1 costs approximately 1500 credits. That's like a 1/4th of the cost of a Clone Trooper's *armor*. B1 Droids are also specifically designed to break easily so reassembly is easy as pie, saving boatloads of credits in the long term. Speaking of long term, b1 droids (and Droids as a whole) are logistically genius. Not needing food, water, sleep, or medical aid, B1s are also easy to transport enmasse due to how they fold up. Due to not needing food or sleep, they needed no time for these things, and recharging was typically quick. Their guns are dirt cheap and lack pesky safety features, too, and they were very simple. B1s may lack imagination and intelligence, but they were unquestioning and borderline fearless, going on s*****e missions in massive hordes. Even Jedi cant stand up to 100 opponents firing all at once. And remember, B1s were numerous beyond imagining and were seldom fielded alone-- Often having B2s as their heavy infantry backup and often being given some basic armor.
Yeah, I was planning to post a similar comment. The droids seem like comic relief in the movies, but their sheer logistical might is terrifying if you think about it.

42:24 Speaking of updates. End of last year the game itself got an official update for 64bit support. You know, just casually updating a 17-year-old game to make it run perfectly on modern hardware.
A vaguely remember either reading or seeing something that was a clone that said "When fighting droids, you dont even need to move your gun to aim. it doesnt matter how many blasters you have facing their line, they just keep coming and coming."
The fact this is still one of my most favorite Star Wars games says alot about how great this game still is. And with the modding community helping out and making it an even smoother experience is great.
For those of you who don’t know you can put a ship in the top left of the screen to put that ship in first. Otherwise you will jump into a system with the max amount of ships. It’s really annoying when you have 20+ ships that you didn’t want to use in the battle.
it is actually surprising how well the games held up graphically in the space battles, and mechanically the game really is amazing especially for it's time. i always pickup the game again once every couple years. The modding scene is awesome too
Fun Fact: I'm not 100% sure it works in Republic at War, but in the base game+expansion, you can pause and then bring in all of your ships, and they all jump in AT THE SAME TIME
The fun thing about battle droids against air units is that they have really bad accuracy, which actually makes them... better? Units shoot at where the enemy is, not where they are going, (with the exception of dedicated anti air that predicts their flight path) so a bunch of ground rifles will shoot at an air unit and, with their high accuracy, miss every shot. B1 droids have poor accuracy. When they shoot at an air unit, they are aiming for where it is, about 1/3 of it's shot will be "accurate" and go to where the flying unit is, and miss. Another 1/3 of their shots will go behind it and miss, and the last 1/3 of their shots will go in front of it and, because it is moving in that direction, they will hit.
In the words of some Astra Militarum general: Any man who doubts the power of the humble lasrifle, has not had to run through a field of a thousand of them.
They really... REALLY were not. Unless you're one of those Libertarians who also love slavery. Basically if the Separatists were right, then so was the US Confederacy.
@Arbaaltheundefeated I'm not talking about the megacorps I'm talking about the actual senate the planets and people they represented they wanted fairness in the republic so when diplomatic means broke down they revolted (plus slavery isn't practiced in a good 99% of separatist planets)
I mean apart from all of it being orchestrated by one man, it's not hard to imagine a situation where someone advocates for the greater good and with that enforces their idea of unity and laws to have discidents from this subjectively opressive rule. That they can only turn to megacorps and the banking clan for financial help to secure their autonomy is another matter entirely.
I was genuinely confused for a second, as I thought this was some other Star Wars RTS I had never heard of from the title/ thumbnail, but I’m so happy this mod is finally getting solid recognition. A total overhaul made by committed fans of the Star Wars universe that simultaneously fixes 99% of the obnoxious elements of the original game (the entirety of the consortium) while also not feeling too distinct from the base game and its mechanics. Even if there is never a sequel to EAW, Fall of the Republic and Thrawn’s revenge are still amazing experiments in how far you can push a dinky early 2000s RTS to its limits, straight up there with DOTA and the original team fortress
6 thousand hours in this game from playing as a kid at my grandmas house during sleepovers to still playing the absolutely goated mods this game is truly one of the best
15:54 You are VERY lucky this mod doesn't have the enemy actively *aggressively* run things over. That Juggernaut could have flattened your whole army.
Fun fact: The Emperor returning from the dead isn't even an original idea. It's straight up just a carbon copy of a 1980's comic book series known as Dark Empire that Disney decanonized to "wipe the slate clean." Yeah they have no ideas of their own.
Awesome game to play with your buddies in skirmish mode. You can find a lot of people willing to play on many discord servers centered around this game even today, truly awesome
I literally still have the boxes for this and it's expansion. Its such a shame that games like this, W3 and the original Dawn of War games are not really made much anymore.
See if I was given the reins to the Universe of Star Wars with complete creative control, my VERY FIRST hire would be people like these modders. People that are so particular with getting the very smallest thing correct Lore-wise. These modders freaking killed it.
Fun fact for anyone who doesnt already know, when attacking or defending a planet, if you succeed in controlling the planet, any objects you build like turrets will persist. I did this with anti vehicle turrets to counter CIS tanks since clones in crouch hard counter infantry. Easiest way to stop any non hero led armies from invadinf
Not sure about this mod, but in the vanilla game and some mods there are build pads for the turrets so close to the initial enemy landing zone that if you manage to build turrets there and succesfully defend the planet, the next time the enemy invades their initial troops get slaughtered by the turrets alone, resulting in an almost instant victory :D Also, in vanilla (and a number of mods) the anti-air turret can be used to target land units as well. You have to manually target the enemies but the AA turret does a huge amount of area effect damage to infantry and moderate damage to light vehicles and has a long range.
The mod shows that it is made for people who have spent their lives in RTS, I remember installing it and being overwhelmed by the speed at which everything happened, the units are extremely fast, they kill/die almost instantly, I don't remember if the AI was smarter but I do remember that he spam the hardest he could
This was the game that got me into Rts games. I had a demo disk and played it endlessly doing the same old desert planet map over and over. I have since played the game countless times and it’s still top of the charts in my books
Grimm creeper please remember this if you’re ever going back to it always remember the two ways to bring down a giant ship and do a lot damage without losing many losses is usually target the shield generator and then target the fighter bay
Corey Loses, the UA-camr that made Fall of the Republic, has made one of the best mods for a video game I’ve ever seen. It is called Thrawn’s Revenge. It is also an Empire at War mod but takes place post-ROTJ.
You might actually get that, there's apparently a Star Wars Strategy game being made and Creative Assembly have said they are working with a big franchise, so maybe we'll get that soon
@@isaac3140 Yeah like the total war formula simple doesn't work with big blocks of infantry with somewhat automatic guns. The bit about the “somehow palpatine returned” line at the beginning is ten times funnier when you realize that exact thing happens in Thrawn’s revenge, the Legends mod made by the same group
@@zakirbakar3540nothing taking place post-ROTJ in legends was well-written, except for maybe some of the Zahn books. The cloning was especially bad. Give the sequels the criticism they deserve, but they deserve credit for not having "Luuke" as a serious character, and the awful Yuuzhan Vong.
@@isaac3140 Praises the Zahn books... and then proceeds to whine about the clones.... which are a critical part of the Heir to the Empire trilogy. Who needs quality when you have battle droids quantity xD This game is just a masterpiece, more people needs to know about this game so one day we might be able to get a remaster
You know genuinely I don't think the "Somehow Palpatine returned" line was actually that bad... Like in universe it makes sense they wouldn't know how, the character wouldn't be aware of the specific circumstances and having someone else do cringe exposition like "um actually I used to work in the Jedi archives and I know there was a cloning program that he set up so my guess would be a clone of himself which would absorb his soul if he was ever killed" wouldn't really be "better" There's plenty of problems with the modern Star Wars that makes them just more run of the mill average sci-fi these days but it always confuses me the weird points people choose to pick on especially when they conveniently forget how much of this kind of stuff there was in the Original Trilogy. Then again I still remember the initial reviews and reaction to Empire Strikes Back and people saying how "bad" that twist and ending was...🤷
Hi there! If you decide to play more Empire at War I would highly recommend trying the Awakening of the Rebellion mod. AotR is a complete overhaul for EaW set right after the battle of Yavin, it's depth of combat is unmatched both from a tactical and technical standpoint but also a visual and sound design one. Space Battles are at a smaller scale (as compared with some other mods) with a greater emphasis on tactics, especially with shield penetrating weapons allowing for even a few starfighters to change the outcome of a battle. The rock paper scissors gameplay of the basegame has been completely thrown out in favor of a much more nuanced system where every single unit and weapon type plays a different role and building balanced fleets and armies matters. The mod features three distinct playable factions all with their own tech systems, economy and unit rosters, the Rebel Alliance that emphasizes defensive abilities, disabling weapons, high tier infantry, stealth raids and starfighter tactics, the Galactic Empire which focuses on capital ships, offensive abilities and powerful conventional military forces. and finally the Black Sun underworld, this unconventional criminal faction is split between four different leader techs with only one tech tree being active at a given time, these techs include the IG-88 Droid revolution, the Zann Consortium, Hutt Cartel and Xizor Trade Systems. I can not do this mod justice with just this comment, check it out.
Calling in ships as you need them is such a "design of its era" idea. Lets you have your mega fleet fights, but without overloading the PCs of the time with too much at once.
Pro tip: If you move your own mouse in a circular motion over some random part of the UI in the video, it's almost like you're right there with Kleaper, playing on the same computer. That mouse movement has been sticking out to me for the past while now and I've finally found a way to ignore it. :D

In the last two months i have put almost 200 hours into this game, because i have been playing and comparing several of the clone wars mods. I highly recommend it!
Sometimes i wonder for the guys who first saw the OT, what they thought The Clone Wars were going to be and if they thought it would involve millions of Boba Fett's clone daddy's clones fighting an army of droids.
I love this guy's videos as well as regies' ones so much that i just tend to rewatch every single one of them whenever i get bored from work or studying
Something to note if you decide to play as the Republic-there's eventually a point where, after reaching 100 influence, you can either initiate Order 66 like in canon or do a breakaway and initiate Order 65. The Order 66 path gets rid of *all* Jedi heroes but replaces them with a few Imperial ones (namely Vader and Tarkin), while also giving you the ability to acquire Imperial-sorry "Imperator" Star Destroyers from Kuat Drive Yards. The Order 65 path allows you to keep all the Jedi, but locks off any Imperial Tech, has Palps not be available, and you get what are basically Rebel ships. It's actually really interesting, if you get far enough to actually pull it off. There's something similar for the Imperial Remnant and all the Warlords (sans the Empire of the Hand) involving Imperial legitimacy, but unless that gets covered, all I'll say is that it involves powers and abilities some consider to be unnatural.

Star Wars EaW is a surprise, but a welcome one.
Ah another kleaper video to my download collection!
I love how I just got Empire at War, and this plague mask wearing mad lad just drops a video of how great this game is. I’ll take this as a sign.
it is actually surprising how well the games held up graphically in the space battles, and mechanically the game really is amazing especially for it's time. i always pickup the game again once every couple years. The modding scene is awesome too
Empire at war is the best example of a game that’s been kept alive by its community
*plays 'Fall of the Republic' mod
*links 'Republic at War' mod
tbf those are both great mods that are both regularly updated
Ha just changed it, my bad!
Republic at war IS a Bit easier
@@laisphinto6372 that was an absolutely brutal mod as the republic and cheesing the ground assaults was unfortunately necessary.
@@echodelta2172
What is the name of the base game?
Fun Fact: I'm not 100% sure it works in Republic at War, but in the base game+expansion, you can pause and then bring in all of your ships, and they all jump in AT THE SAME TIME
It works
It works in the vanilla expansion, not the base game.
@@jacobg8640 ah, gotcha
I think kleapers favorite strategy is just throwing so much cheap stuff at his enemies that he eventually wins ("random bullshit, go!")
this is canonically how the clone wars show should've been. Jedis and clones being overwhelmed by blasterfire and droids
Almost as if the leadership of both sides were forcing a stalemate ;)
In the words of some Astra Militarum general:
Any man who doubts the power of the humble lasrifle, has not had to run through a field of a thousand of them.
Fun fact : the CIS' droid army is estimated to have , I quote, "hundreds of quadrillions to the quintillions of droids".
Thats a lot of clankers
And then only a few million at most were ever used.
the fact the separatists without palp was the right side is funny
I mean if your hobby is licking the boots of megacorps sure
They really... REALLY were not. Unless you're one of those Libertarians who also love slavery. Basically if the Separatists were right, then so was the US Confederacy.
@Arbaaltheundefeated search up why the cis was right under the lore master (ik ofc talking about legends bc they brutalized my boy in cannon)
Even if there is never a sequel to EAW, Fall of the Republic and Thrawn’s revenge are still amazing experiments in how far you can push a dinky early 2000s RTS to its limits, straight up there with DOTA and the original team fortress
for anyone wondering this is one of the smaller total conversion mods, the modding scene for this insane
I still play it this day. The mod community is alive and well and it's still one of the best Star Wars games of all time.
Republic: we Have super juggernauts and anti infantry tanks and ships
Cis: SPAMMY B1 DROIDS GOO BRRRRRRRRR
Watching Kleaper just sit there and watch as his ships get destroyed. Pain.
Bro is NOT a strategist.
Fun fact: The Emperor returning from the dead isn't even an original idea. It's straight up just a carbon copy of a 1980's comic book series known as Dark Empire that Disney decanonized to "wipe the slate clean."
Yeah they have no ideas of their own.
And it made no sense back then either
Same story where the Eclipse came from too.
@@ZKP314 Yes.
Awesome game to play with your buddies in skirmish mode. You can find a lot of people willing to play on many discord servers centered around this game even today, truly awesome
I literally still have the boxes for this and it's expansion. Its such a shame that games like this, W3 and the original Dawn of War games are not really made much anymore.
how to combat anti infantry units
1. have more units than they have ammo
2. profit
See if I was given the reins to the Universe of Star Wars with complete creative control, my VERY FIRST hire would be people like these modders. People that are so particular with getting the very smallest thing correct Lore-wise. These modders freaking killed it.
I need this game and this mod.
I never knew either of them existed until now.
Thank you for this wonderful birthday gift, it has made my day
Love that after all this time kleaper still says “infulstructure” instead of infrastructure
Whoah... I'm playing this. You're doing Star Wars a service showcasing this. Thanks.
Not sure about this mod, but in the vanilla game and some mods there are build pads for the turrets so close to the initial enemy landing zone that if you manage to build turrets there and succesfully defend the planet, the next time the enemy invades their initial troops get slaughtered by the turrets alone, resulting in an almost instant victory :D
Also, in vanilla (and a number of mods) the anti-air turret can be used to target land units as well. You have to manually target the enemies but the AA turret does a huge amount of area effect damage to infantry and moderate damage to light vehicles and has a long range.
When Kleaper posted about star war empire at war:”A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one”
The mod shows that it is made for people who have spent their lives in RTS, I remember installing it and being overwhelmed by the speed at which everything happened, the units are extremely fast, they kill/die almost instantly, I don't remember if the AI was smarter but I do remember that he spam the hardest he could
Republic at war was _awful_ with that, the AI had so many buffs
Wow :o So awesome! Glad you started with *CIS* Trade Federation 🤘
When he said "Seperatist Confederacy" I yelled "YEAAAAAA" my mom had to shut me the fuck up
This was the game that got me into Rts games. I had a demo disk and played it endlessly doing the same old desert planet map over and over. I have since played the game countless times and it’s still top of the charts in my books
General Grievous sitting in the Malevolance be like: "Ride wife, life good".
Grimm creeper please remember this if you’re ever going back to it always remember the two ways to bring down a giant ship and do a lot damage without losing many losses is usually target the shield generator and then target the fighter bay
You are a lot of fun. This game is also amazing. Great combo.
from 40:00 onwards is just Anakin Skywalker fulll chosen one potential achieved
"A ship building thing."
Woah there buddy, don't get too technical now.😂
I'm hoping the leaks of a total war Star Wars game is true but we probably won't know until august
I’m pretty sure the next big Total War fantasy game was confirmed to be a Warhammer 40k one
Corey Loses, the UA-camr that made Fall of the Republic, has made one of the best mods for a video game I’ve ever seen. It is called Thrawn’s Revenge. It is also an Empire at War mod but takes place post-ROTJ.
The one game I would spend cash on... Star Wars:Total War
"Set exclusively in the sequel trilogy! "
Total war doesn't really work with Star Wars. I'd prefer an Empire at War sequel
You might actually get that, there's apparently a Star Wars Strategy game being made and Creative Assembly have said they are working with a big franchise, so maybe we'll get that soon
@@TheNephilimofEmpireCity "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
@@isaac3140 Yeah like
the total war formula simple doesn't work with
big blocks of infantry with somewhat automatic guns.
Like, in napoleon/empire, it kind of made sense because the guns are innacurate and take a while to reload, and warfare still revolved around big firing lines and "solid" blocks of infantry
i
The bit about the “somehow palpatine returned” line at the beginning is ten times funnier when you realize that exact thing happens in Thrawn’s revenge, the Legends mod made by the same group
Yeah but it’s actually like
Well written
And
Foreshadowed at all
@@zakirbakar3540nothing taking place post-ROTJ in legends was well-written, except for maybe some of the Zahn books.
Sure, the Palpatine clone stuff was pants-on-head stupid, but come on man.
Also, implying that series like the X-Wing/Rogue Squadron novels aren't well-written is borderline grounds for fisticuffs.
@@isaac3140 the cloning is foreshadowed in the zhan books you are talking about
Like
That’s kinda the whole plot of HttE
And in the duology zhan writes after the events of the thrawn trilogy Luke finds a thrawn clone in the empire of the hand
Don’t see how it was especially bad considering Zhan’s books are pretty much undisputedly the best Star Wars books ever written.
@@internetzenmaster8952 It was good outside of the clones, hope this helps 👍
And yeah, I forgot about the X-Wing Rogue Squadron books, those are good too. I also liked Allegiance.
Who needs quality when you have battle droids quantity xD
This game is just a masterpiece, more people needs to know about this game so one day we might be able to get a remaster
You know genuinely I don't think the "Somehow Palpatine returned" line was actually that bad...
Like in universe it makes sense they wouldn't know how, the character wouldn't be aware of the specific circumstances and having someone else do cringe exposition like "um actually I used to work in the Jedi archives and I know there was a cloning program that he set up so my guess would be a clone of himself which would absorb his soul if he was ever killed" wouldn't really be "better"
There's plenty of problems with the modern Star Wars that makes them just more run of the mill average sci-fi these days but it always confuses me the weird points people choose to pick on especially when they conveniently forget how much of this kind of stuff there was in the Original Trilogy. Then again I still remember the initial reviews and reaction to Empire Strikes Back and people saying how "bad" that twist and ending was...🤷
Thrawn's Revenge?
Awakening of the Rebellion?
Thank you for recognizing the Separatists as the true good guys of the clone wars, Roger Roger soldier
Of all games I never thought I'd see an Empire at War video in 2024. Love it.
You might like TheXPGamers, he makes a lot of Empire at War videos, and they're pretty high quality.
Good thing this wasn’t remastered like battlefront
Got the plushy just cuz i wanna support this man. Please continue with the war crimes my friend.
0:51 IN GALACTIC CONQUEST
Calling in ships as you need them is such a "design of its era" idea. Lets you have your mega fleet fights, but without overloading the PCs of the time with too much at once.
Nute Gunray Gang
One nice benefit of playing the CIS: if you ever have to flee a situation you don't even need to pretend to care about the troops you leave behind!
Pro tip: If you move your own mouse in a circular motion over some random part of the UI in the video, it's almost like you're right there with Kleaper, playing on the same computer.
That mouse movement has been sticking out to me for the past while now and I've finally found a way to ignore it. :D
The way you used the droids is pretty much how they were used in canon.
i love this game and EAWX is S tier mod, Coreyloses and his team are incredible. more than 500hrs with these mods and i can say its one of the greatest RTS's made
The Sabaoth Destroyers you lost are actually really good at anti fighter work, they carry Flak cannon batteries aboard ship. They're kind of like an anti-carrier capital
I fucking love this game and I love you for covering it you legend
The droids are basically the Krieg soldiers from Warhammer. Just slowly walking towards enemy machine gun lines
B1 Battle Droids were such an efficient strategy that you might as well have bought entire planets for like 900 credits and saved them the losses...
"of course we're going to be playing as the right side of history.."
me: "it's treason then"
I love the irony that in the clone wars show grievous always ran away and in this game everyone runs away from grievous 😂😂
In the last two months i have put almost 200 hours into this game, because i have been playing and comparing several of the clone wars mods. I highly recommend it!
Can’t believe the game was literally updated again last month
Sometimes i wonder for the guys who first saw the OT, what they thought The Clone Wars were going to be and if they thought it would involve millions of Boba Fett's clone daddy's clones fighting an army of droids.
Most other nerds: An endless debate of what's better, Star Wars or 40k.
Kleaper: Deploying B1 Droids with Imperial Guard tactics.
