A time when we had alot of problems but were willing to have discussions. I'm happy to say the internet will help and hurt us at the same time but we are smart and will figure it out. America is a special place and is worth protecting and saving so we can make more awesome music
I am a 66 year old man and this is one of my favorite songs by G.F.R.R. i even played this song in a couple of bands that i was in back in the day. This song originally was only ment to be played live as the opening song at a Grand Funk concert. This song totally rocks. I love G.F.R.R. even to this day. Long live Mark Farner and his music.
So I was 13 in 1974 and what you do with all us followers is what I did all my life with friends and acquaintances just turning each other on and ROCKIN 🎸
The drumming with what he was drumming with is impossible to explain. They were THE most underrated band ever...period.They did want to make you groove.
Still the most underrated group ever...RR Hall of Fame does not deserve them..Definitely a shoulder moving song.Listen to the drums during his guitar riffs...Don Brewer puts together some real tough grooves.
You sir are a Mark Farner fan! What's amazing is Farner is singing lead and playing every instrument you hear excpet bass and drums. Farner Forever! And it's worth finding a clean live version of it to watch him work. Even if it's Mark Farner solo.
My favorite GFRR song is "SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL, Because on a wesome summer night when that song cam on the radio both sides of Gratiot Avenue( everybody's windows were rolled down, and "SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL (by GFRR)came on, it was the most awesome experience ensued.People were smiling and singing their asses off!!!!!!!
3 White guy got you into the grove! they is a live version from 1974 that rocks the soul! Yes it does get better when they do "ARE YOU READY" from GFR LIVE!
Have seen all of these awesome bands in the 60s 70s ,i had tickets for Jimmy in Montreal .He died before the date. The Doors i saw in Montreal Forum for 3.50$ before Jim death. Just like Mozart their music lives forever.G F R was short lived and copied ever since ,Thanks to the G F R Farmer legacy of rock.
Love Grand Funk. Great as a trio, but when they added Craig Frost on keyboards, it added another dimension and gave the band more depth and color to what was already a great sound. Saw them live in Syracuse -- 11th row for an afternoon show, and they delivered just as much energy as they would for a sold-out night show !! Spent my youth in the basement on Saturdays, learning my chops on a used Sears $100 set that my brother brought home from the Air Force...just brings back some great memories !!
Mark Farner was one of the best, if not THE best, frontman of any band from that era. Played guitar, keyboards, harmonica, had a great voice and huge stage presence.
GFR did a live performance during prime about 1974. The whole family is watching. I asked my grandmother what she thought of the band. She made some comment about the lead singer having a good body. Mark was even turning on 70 year old grandmas, that's some serious sex appeal.
Back in the day i.e. 60's and 70's a lot of the R&B/soul bands used a Hammond B3 organ with a speaker called a Leslie. The Leslie, or at least some models, had a couple of horns that would spin and the harder/louder it played the faster it spun around. Every time I hear this song that's what I picture in my mind. A Leslie on this song? Not sure but I love the image.
Giddeeup! Only one Grand Funk Railroad! Hope everyone had a most excellent Christmas!!! God Bless your 2020 for you all!!!!!!! New Decade folks!! Giddeeup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is Mark Farner the guitarist playing the Hammond. I've seen them doing this live before they hired a backup keyboardist and Mark rips up guitar, Hammond, harp and those pipes.
You will most likely also really like Boz Scaggs' "Lido Shuffle" and "Lowdown", among his other hits. A lot of his songs are a nice mix of jazz, rock, soul, R&B.
This song was my intro to Grand Funk, 7th-8th grade dance. Been a fan ever since. GREAT album cover, E Pluribus Funk, ROUND cover. Looked like a Quarter.
Mark Farner played keyboards and guitar. They started out with 3 guys.Thats why you don't hear guitar and keyboard at the same time. They were my first concert.
I'm the guy who requested humble pie and black coffee and Grand funk railroad inside looking out and Omg how could I forget about the j.giles band from Michigan. So much greatness. Centerfold, Must of got lost, whammer jammer, love stinks, freeze frame, where did our love go, DETROIT BREAKDOWN
Luv you Jamel!! Grand Funk was my favorite band in high school! Thank you for this. I appreciate that you give all kinds of musical chance and always have something good to say about every song.
I saw these guys in Springfield, Ma. The show however was during a blizzard (we followed the plows all the way from CT to get there). We made it and we got worried as showtime approached and maybe only 200 people in a sold out arena. Long story short...the band announced since we showed up "everybody get down front!!" and they started with this and played (jammed) for three hours. One of my all time favorite concerts.
My first grand funk record I went right to the drums and started looking drop ins on my four channel ! I love his appreciation you got to feel the funk.
If you like GFRR, then you should definitely listen to the bass lead on their version of "Feelin' Alright", seriously, one of the best bass lines in rock n roll!!!
I have listened to several versions of feeling alright and even though Joe Cocker is a good one , grand funk Railroads version is in my opinion the best version
I still have that silver-coloured, coin-shaped album on which this was released----long version only, in my house! 1973. "The bong-rattling bass of Mr. Mel Schacher"----Homer Simpson. That organ! The rhythmic Mark Farner guitar solo! The hang tight drum set of Don Brewer! I must have really annoyed my folks with this in high school but I couldn't help it.
Imagine: your 16 years old and at an outdoor concert in the Summer when they take the stage and open their set with this. The summer was 1974. The place was Nashville's Tennessee, Fair Park motor speed way. What a show. What a great time to be alive and share that with a big FORD station full of friends. Thank you!
one of the greatest bands of the 60's and 70's and have not, been inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame yet!. most of the people already in the hall of fame, didn't deserve it as much as Grand Funk Railroad did!.
I would dare to presume the reason you like it so much is it’s like gospel music. Bluesy, funky, heartfelt and a footstompin, handclapping raucous good time! His vocals are so soulful and rocking at the same time. You get it, I get it... pretty much everyone gets it. Thanks for having an open mind, but seriously, this music has its roots in soul and gospel music.
The live version is even more fun. Mark Farner has more energy than should be allowed by law, and you can’t believe Don Brewer’s arms don’t fall off! - Found it!
You are the BEST every time I need a pick me up. I just watch one of your reviews always happy and uplifting. Grand Funk was so cool one of my favorite bands too. You are a lot of fun to watch and listen to. Keep it up 👍
I was a black kid in a predominantly white parochial school. A claasmate told me to check out the "B" side of "Footstompin' Music". I'd never heard of GFR (having been raised on RnB). I listened to "I Come Tumblin'" and they became my favorite band. You can hear the sweat on that record. I'd love to see your reaction to that one.
Seeing Grand Funk was a fun and fantastic experience! First of all, the show started out with one of the best blues guitarist/singers of all time Freddie King! I was about 30 feet from the stage and I could see his steel finger picks grating across the strings of his cherry red Gibson 335. I believe it was the the We Are An American Band tour. Grand Funk rocked hard and the sound was even better than the records. Behind the band was a giant screen showing their home movies
If you liked that check out "Rare Earth: Get ready" or "Ides of March: Vehicle". For that matter, how much Chicago or Doobie Brothers have you heard. and Steppenwolf "Hey Lawdy Mama, Magic Carpet Ride" and if you haven't heard "Born to be Wild" what the heck is goin' on?
Wow, a piece from the good ol' days. So many of their cuts stay with me. Like "We're an American Band". A unique sound, back then. Keep on in touch, Bro.
I'm a 62yr old woman and I love this music. It brings back so many memories. Keep up the good work. Your my favorite reactor
Bobbie, you were probably jail bait to me back then...lol
43 here and im w Bobbie ! Great stuff!
Same here, sister
60 over here and this music from this time will never be again...God Bless GFR and all of you✌🇺🇸🌎❤

I'm 33 and I've been listening to this music since I was swimming in my daddy's sack. I've never stopped loving this band.
IMHO, Mel Schacher is one of the most underrated bass players ever!
And maybe one of the best. The bass lines in so many of their songs are just kick ass!
Dude was a monster bass player.
@@allennorman1628 still is!
Of his time.........have you seen Tal Wilkenfeld ? Young woman is awesome.
She Impressed Jeff Beck enough to be invited to play in concerts with him !
@@kwman69r No, but will check on her music. Thanks!
No band ever combined rock and soul music together better than the Mighty Railroad--and that's a natural born FACT!
So true. Best white rock n soul band ever! Btw, to the dude showing this, it was the GFR live music that connected the most. Check out more or it.
Right on
@Scott Allen you cats are so witty today.😅😄😃
Come on and ride the Railroad, it's a mighty good line
@@craigprager95 And with Magic Marky as your captain driving the train, you'll have many groovy trips!
I'm 63. Love this group. Grand Funk!
Great Mark Farner. Song writer, lead guitar, Organ, lead singer!
Makes me happy seeing this make someone happy 😊
Footstompin' Music is definitely feel good music. You can't listen to this and stay in a bad mood!
As a Football coach there is nothing better to see than.....a BIG MAN dancin!!!

Thank you, young man for a quick ticket back home to my youth. What I needed
Still the most underrated group ever...RR Hall of Fame does not deserve them..Definitely a shoulder moving song.Listen to the drums during his guitar riffs...Don Brewer puts together some real tough grooves.
63 Still Rockin to Foot stomping music 2021 & Jesus🙏 just like Mark Farner👀👍😁🎸👊😎
almost every song they put out made it to the top of the charts!.
The mash-song by Grand Funk Railroad for all the discos all over the world (1971)
There's only one thing better than playing Grand Funk on 10. Playing Grand Funk on 10 and watching someone grooving to it.
That’s a good old Michigan band ,that’s right here where I was born and raised.✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼
My hometown band. My generation. They are still the best. I used to turn the bass up and turn the volume up. Drove my parents crazy.
Their first Live Album was my official first rock album i ever bought back in the day, followed by Sabbath's first album. Ah, the joys of discovery !
You sir are a Mark Farner fan! What's amazing is Farner is singing lead and playing every instrument you hear excpet bass and drums. Farner Forever! And it's worth finding a clean live version of it to watch him work. Even if it's Mark Farner solo.

My high school basketball team used to warm up to this song at their home games. The 70's was fun!!

I had loved them since I was 12 and my 15 year old aunt got to listen to them in 68
THE SONG THAT ALMOST MADE SHEA STADIUM CRASH TO THE GROUND.. I WAS THERE.. GLAD I WAS.. HISTORY OF MUSIC..
Is that when you went deaf?
I am 65 and this was when music was MUSIC..... I got tons of good stuff for you to react to but YOU don't have enough room. Keep jamming!!!!

THE BEST AND SO UNDER RATED...! BUT THEY STILL TOUR...! IT'S SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL...!
Once ya go '70's, ya never go back.
Mom and dads favorite band❤grew up on all classic rock and Motown hand dancing and two stepping
Love Grand Funk. Great as a trio, but when they added Craig Frost on keyboards, it added another dimension and gave the band more depth and color to what was already a great sound. My anthem as well. If you’re not moving to this you’re probably dead. Jamal you make me smile. Keep on keepin on.
Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Oh my that is some good tunes
Mark Farner was one of the best, if not THE best, frontman of any band from that era. Played guitar, keyboards, harmonica, had a great voice and huge stage presence.

Freedom rock at its finest!!!🇺🇸
Flint Michigan finest, had a 1971 Buick skylark blasting this
They were WORLD FAMOUS

You're at the altar of rock and the organ is wailin'!
The live version of this is on another level
Think about this….THE DRUMMER POUNDING THOSE DRUMS AND DOING THE LEAD SINGING!! UNBELIEVABLE!
The guitarist, Mark Farner, is the one singing this song.

Have you watched the entire concert from 1974? INCREDIBLE!
Grand Funk Railroad was definitely a great band, especially when Mark Farner fronted them. Good choice of song. Merry Christmas, Jamal!
I saw these guys in Springfield, Ma. The show however was during a blizzard (we followed the plows all the way from CT to get there). Love the part " i wanna hear some hand clappin' " and he actually starts clapping haha
Oh ya, he got into it big time. Makes you wanna groove and party ! Awesome song
GFRR warmed up for Bob Segar in Louisville and this of course was the opening song. Woot woot ! I never sat down their whole show.
If you like GFRR, then you should definitely listen to the bass lead on their version of "Feelin' Alright", seriously, one of the best bass lines in rock n roll!!!
Mel is a great bassplayer but that song is a throwaway. Carol Kay's bass part on Feelin; alright with Joe Cocker is much better.
I have listened to several versions of feeling alright and even though Joe Cocker is a good one , grand funk Railroads version is in my opinion the best version
