The hair is worth the price of admission alone… but seriously one of the most passionate energetic and talented power trios ever. Mark owns the stage. Zero let downs with this band.
fast thick dirty bass - slammin' funk groove drumming - organ out the kazoo - unbridled guitar - screaming vocals - greatest jammin' rock band ever - pure energy start to finish - love you GFR!
My favorite band at 17 and now at 64...nothing has changed for me. Mark especially is one of the most talented musicians to ever walk on to a stage in any musical genre. Multi talented...and still is. He is and forever will be... Grand Funk Railroad!
Man what happened to music? Things are supposed to get better over time. These guys are the real deal . Young musicians should watch this and get to know what real rock n roll is.
Saw them in 1971. Best band I've ever seen. Mark made you part of the performance. I couldn't hear for days...lol. Very talented yet sincere guys! Mark is GFR!!
regardless of the era, its hard to find a band more passionate than these guys. they were having the time of their lives while playing. the title of their last album sums it up well. good singin' good playin'
GFR played two sold out shows at MSG in '72. Prior to one of them, Terry Knight showed up with his attorneys and sheriffs to confiscate the groups equipment. Nice guy, huh... Anyway's, they had duplicate instruments and went on to rocked the garden. As they always did!
They sound great and look young and fabulous, if they ever got back together, it would be like the Rock n Roll Heavyweight championship of the world. Million dollar concern, millions of dollars flowing, world wide excited FANS!!
Can you imagine the rush it would be playing to a sold out Madison Square Garden or Shea Stadium? Grand Funk had some great energy. The second album I ever bought was 'E Pluribus Funk', the silver coin album. Still have it. Unfortunately, I never saw them in concert.
Ok, I admit it, when I was 18 I had the biggest crush on Mark Farner. (No, I did not know him personally, lol) I realized later that it was the music I was in love with. Man, those guys rocked.
Sound blues country rock adrenalina musicale 🎼 molta energia ricordando gli anni settanta e la voce impetuosa di farner assieme ai mitici grand funk quando il rock era più influente e più incisivo dei giorni nostri ❤😂
the baddest dude in there was the bass player, the drummer sang backup, the organist came in later .there were heavier bands at the time,to my white friends I was ashamed I listened to them.thank you for putting this up!
The Essene not Essence : this cut may be low quality video and sound but I love it because the mix really features the bass and brings out just how good Mel was.
I saw them in ‘70@ Pirates World in Dania with two of my band mates at the time , one of whom later in life was my bro- in law,who are now gone.GFR exuded unbridled healthiness and enthusiasm.I will never forget it.
OMG that rocks! And the drummer is having such a great time. To top it all off, Farner damn near breaks his neck at the very end but recovers like a pro.
They really were the Greatest American Band ,and I believe they blew Zeppelin off the stage fuck they blew everyone off the stage and they could blow everyone off the stage today if they were still the original lineup, and sounded like this still..Because this is how its done...
Yup!! Peter Grant threatened their manager to get them off the stage because they were getting such a huge reaction from the audience. The crowd rioted when GFR left the stage early. Peter Grant thought the reaction was from GFR playing in their home state. Then GFR opened for them again in Cleveland and got another huge reaction which Peter Grant thought showed up Zep. After the Cleveland show, GFR was pulled off the tour and would never open for Zeppelin again. The mighty Zeppelin was deflated and soon after GFR was a headlining act. 🚂 🎸 🇺🇸
@@paulkazakoff9231 - Yes! I love Zeppelin too but I was more of a GfR fan because they were underdogs. One day they were just a local garage band and they next day they were one of the biggest bands in the world. Plus I loved their energy and their vocal harmonies.
@@bronxbomber3194 Yeah I am a big L.Z. fan and for a long time but i like quite a bit of the ol' Grand Funk for sure.First one I owned was the double live and it's a good one.Never saw G.F. live so can't really comment.Did see L.Z. once and were fantastic. That was in 1972 and probably the best concert I've seen as far as rock goes anyway. That was in Australia and i know G.F. never toured down here.Bit of a shame.I would have liked to have seen them in those early years.

No pyro techs, no gimmicks, no costumes....just pure talent, energy and love for music. Sadly, so missing today.
I love the energy of the band, specially with this song. One of my favorites song of GFR….forever!!
Farner, Brewer and Shacher had unbelievable stage presence and talent.
